Very nice rooms & staff.

Everything about the hotel and staff was wonderful except we had no hot water for about 15 hours of our 2 day stay. Location was ideal for us. Near train station, restaurants and our tour meeting point.

Staff excellent. Rooms comfortable and clean.

While the property is beautiful and located near the train station , making it convenient, they had no AC functioning as it was extremely hot and uncomfortable. When I called the front desk to ask if the heat could be lowered or the AC turned on I got attitude from the staff. They said they would shut down the heat but they did not. They said to open the windows and we did however the amount of noise from outside was unbearable. There was construction all throughout the night and the parking roof top had a lot of noise as well. We then went to ask if we could have some eat plugs and got more attitude and were told they had none. We realize they may call it winter in their area but to have temps around 25-30 in rooms for traveller when they advertise AC available is not adequate. Of their solution is to open windows then they should at least have ear plugs.

Clean, comfortable rooms, service was also good. Location is quite central to move around in Bologna

Extremely close to the train station. You can just walk across the street and the hotel is in front. Breakfast is a bit hard to get food. Not replaced as it is emptied. Sausages especially. Too many tour groups use this hotel and is used by tourists. Reception is not able to give advice on how to get to things like pharmacy or banks. Their solution was “take a taxi” Bologna is undergoing a great deal of street construction so a taxi is a waste of money and time in blocked traffic.

The service was excellent from everyone I encountered. The breakfast was good. However, I found the stay quite uncomfortable. Bed and pillows terrible. Chair to work at desk in room was awful. Heating/aircon didn't work, so hot at night but very cold for early morning get-ups. Also, when I first arrived, I was put into a room literally next to building work happening. It was deafening. They QUICKLY changed me to a different room. Which I appreciate. But a 4 star hotel should be avoiding putting guests in these rooms anyway, it seems pretty obvious to me.

Comfortable and clean hotel. Great location! Great option if you want to be close to the station and the center of the city.

Awesome breakfast. I have never seen a complimentary breakfast of that quality (though in American standard). The staffs were exceptionally kind.

Stay somewhere else

Stayed in a room with handicapped shower… the curtain was full of mold and stains. Ate at the restaurant but there was an event so waiters were focused on them and not us. We dropped a couple hundred for dinner and felt like we were a nuance. Not ok

Opposite the train station. Very convenient if you are arriving or leaving by train. Good value for the price.

We love that it's right across from the train station. Our room was bigger than i expected and very clean. The bed was great. It's about a 25-minute walk to the center of town though.

Staff were great. Location is good if you are catching the train to other places (Modena or Parma) but 15 mins walk into city centre. Hotel is nice but rooms are a bit dated and in need of some refurbishment but perfectly adequate for a short stay.

A very nice hotel and close to the train station

nice space, but the hotel only had heat, no air conditioning. the room was already hot when we got there. opened windows made it difficult to regulate temp all night long. across from train station - very convenient.

Our hotel was centrally located directly across the street from the train station. So perfect location! Room was clean and well kept. Staff was very helpful.

We happily stayed at this hotel 6 years ago and the front desk was extremely helpful. Person we dealt with at check-in was not. Asked about a restaurant we had liked, told it probably wasn't there anymore. Asked for suggestions, told to turn left out of hotel, go down a few blocks, "there are a lot of restaurants." There was no menu for hotel restaurant in our room, no price list for mini-bar, no room service menu, no instructions for TV. Went back to desk, same person, she acted like these aren't typical forms to be found in hotel rooms and directed me to the hotel restaurant "if I wanted to see a menu". I was then able to get a room service menu, had dinner - the tray was still outside our door when we checked out the next day.

Excellent location if you are taking the train, which I was. Friendly, accommodating staff.

The hotel had such great reviews, I was expecting a lot. It didn’t start off well when I arrived at 4:45pm and my room wasn’t available. The front desk staff apologized and provided a drink at the bar. Very nice, but really not acceptable. The room was clean, but very simple, and showing signs of wear. Also, this was a non-smoking room, but it still smelled like smoke. It wasn’t super strong, but as a non-smoker it definitely smells. So, if you are sensitive to that, you might look elsewhere. The area around the hotel is typical train station. Didn’t feel unsafe, but a little rough.

Excellent hotel directly in front of the central train station. This hotel is very clean and comfortable. There is a great restaurant and the breakfast option is exceptional. I would highly recommend and return to this property.

Starshotels are a great option in great locations through Italy and main cities through Europe. Profesional and atentive at the same time. This onevin Bologna is perfect if u are taking the train to diferent places around. No so louxuious as the other hotels of the same company. It was our second time in 2 years and we,'ll be back for sure. Also to the other ones they have. Better do the Booking directly with them. Not only a better price but they provide personal Transfer wherever you want to go. Also complimentary drinks, upgrade and a bottle of wine. NONE of those, advertized by Hotels.com are available now they merge with Expidia at ONE KEY horrible REWARDS program.

The property was right by the train station, walkable to many areas in the city, and near many places to eat and shop. It was convenient, clean, and the staff was so kind. The rooms were also a great size, and clean. It was a great place, and I would definitely stay here again, as well as any of their other locations around the world.

This hotel was conveniently located across the street from the train station. This was probably the best part of the hotel. When we checked in there was plenty of staff, but half of them were doing nothing (maybe managers). We left our bags and came back as our room wasn't ready. I came back after the normal check in time and we were told the room was ready and someone would bring out bags up. We waited 10-15 minutes and no one came with our bags so we went back down to the lobby to get them ourselves. We were told our room was ready, but when we got to it, there were no towels and I had doubts housecleaning even did anything. The second day we never got any new towels or a new bathmat so we had to use a hand towel for that. Additionally someone took out the trash but didn't replace the trash bag. There were no signs on the nuts and cookies and I assumed they were free, but they were not and I was charged like 15 euro for them! The communication between the front desk staff and the baggage staff was bad. We waited 10 minutes to retrieve our bag upon checking out. I'm not sure why the front desk people can't retrieve bags instead of calling and waiting for 1 person. The security person near the elevator seemed to be the most helpful at times, which seems ridiculous to me. There were a bunch of times I needed help and didn't even bother going to the front desk. I would probably not stay here again.

First class

Conviently located for the station but about 20 minute walk into the historic centre. Hotel was good and clean. Bedroom was average size with a good bathroom with bath. Rooms did however feel quite dated. Breakfast was very average.

Hotel room was absolutely superb. Staff was accommodating. Highly recommend calling the morning you check in to secure parking spot.

If I have negative review, only TV because I don’t know how to use it clearly. Maybe I just asked to front staff but I didn’t it, therefore maybe this is my fault. Other things are very excellent for me. Almost (All?) staffs can speak English well, therefore, I can talk with staff easily, especially check in.

We generally enjoyed our stay this year (as we did last year), but the joints of a chair failed as I was sitting down. The staff response was slow.

Arrived later than we’d indicated on online checkin but everything was fine - including a free upgrade to a suite. Everything was easy and painless.

I stayed for three nights and had been given a very generous-sized room which was very useful. Very good cleanliness and the breakfast service was good too. Around 25minute walk to Piazza Maggiore which to me is good enough.

Convenient location and spacious rooms.

The hotel was great! Spacious, clean, and comfortable room. The location is very central and convenient, right across from the train station--but the room was totally quiet. I also used their small gym, which is basic but fine. I highly recommend. I would stay here again.

The hotel is directly opposite the main train station. You can walk into the town, which is convenient. There is also a wide connection of transport links.

Extremely friendly staff all around. They were able to accommodate an early checkin, which was very helpful. Large, beautiful and clean family room with nice extras (such as great coffee and complimentary water). One of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve experienced as well with high quality and well prepared food. Very convenient location to the train station (just across the street). I’d certainly stay here again on a future visit.

Beautiful hotel just outside the train station. Lots of great places to see within walking distance. Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was outstanding.

The hotel itself was great with good breakfast and bar, and it was right across from the train station so super convenient. The female front desk rep was very pleasant and helpful during checkin. Our room did have an a/c leak from the ceiling and staff came right away to fix the problem. We walked around the block and thought the Bologna Food Gallery and Pure and Bio gelato place were great, but the back side street smelled and was a bit shady.

Quick 3 Day Stay

Our experience was nice. Luwam at the front desk was very helpful. She even helped me find a local dentist for a medical emergency. She also helped us set up transportation from Bologna to the Ravenna Cruise Port.

Hotel is in a perfect location, immediately across from the train station. Close to the main bus terminal, too. Downtown is in walkable distance. The staff is friedly, and the rooms are clean and quiet. Would stay here again.

The hotel is located in a very convenient location of Bologna just cross the Bologna Central station. The facility there is modern and clean. You can walk to the main tourist attractions and the restaurants with easy.

The fact that the room temperature is controlled by the front desk speaks poorly of service during the very many hot summer days. This is a malaise throughout most hotels in southern Europe. I will make a point to never return to this hotels. It's a shame, but not worth my return.

Accommodating and helpful

What accommodating management! We were able to check in earlier than acheduled, our room was spacious, the bath was very well-appointed and spotless. The linens were high-end Italian cotton and the bed was supportive. We erroneously opened a snack on the coffee tray but we’re not charged. We would definitely stay here again. Great value for price paid.

Enjoyed our stay at Starhotels Excelsior

The hotel is attractive and comfortable. The lobby is large and the rooms are a good size. The location is also a plus. Old town and other places of interest are in walking distance. My only disappointment was the air conditioner which was not effective in neither of out rooms. Both rooms were too warm.

An excellent station hotel

It was just an overnight stay en route to Florence chosen for its proximity to the station. However, it felt like a holiday in itself because it was within walking distance of the city centre. The staff were helpful, we could leave our luggage while we went into Bologna and the lobby area was comfortable to rest when we returned before our train. The breakfast was excellent value with a wide choice of food.

This four star hotel is gorgeous! Excellent helpful front desk staff, bellman available to help with luggage, full facilities with restaurant and bar, and parking on site with valet service. I look forward to a full hot and cold breakfast. Across the street from the train station, where you can easily catch a cab to nearby good restaurants. LOVED our beautiful room. The area near the train station is not the best, but very close by to center of city. We’re glad we stayed here.

We had a great stay! It was so convenient for us as we used the train (which is across the street) every day to get to Imola for the Grand Prix. The staff, especially Andrea, were helpful and kind. Andrea arranged reservations for us each night of our stay which we SO appreciated!

The hotel is in a perfect location, right next to the train station. It is clean and in very good condition. The room was spacious and extremely quiet. Breakfast was plentiful and reasonably priced. Staff was very friendly. The historic city center is in easy walking distance for most people (1-1.5 km). Would stay here again.

Excellent room, kept in perfect shape, clean and spacious. Staff professional and very helpful (dining recs right on the spot!). Location in front of train station very convenient for those relying on train transport but otherwise not great (noisy, feels not too safe - perhaps undeservingly so!). Overall a great hotel.

It is across the street from the train station which was great for us as that is how we are traveling. However the hotel is still in winter mode which means the AC system is not working. We needed to open windows which made for a very noisy, warm night. Other than that, it was a good place to stay.

Great location that made it easy to get great food, shopping and site seeing. This was a stop over for us, and the receptionist was very helpful in providing some good restaurants and places to see for the short period.

Great hotel if you're going to a convention, a ways away from the city center though.

Avoid during the peak season.

During the Comoprof week in March, the room prices go up to 5 times higher than usual. For a regular price, this might be quite an affordable hotel considering its good location and good service of staff. But during the peak season, you will be asked to pay over 500 euro for a standard twin bed room per night.

This property was centrally located. We walked everywhere. The staff was very friendly and attentive. They helped us book tours and told us about the local highlights.
