When one of our large group be am ill the staff went above and beyond to attend to the situation.
I recommend St James Club, 100%
My wife and I stayed in the Royal Siutes, room was perfect, clean, and plenty of amenities. Food was good to excellent. Service was excellent. All the staff was exceptional I definitely recommend it.
Unfortunately there doesn t seem to be managers or a system in place to hold the stuff accountable to the level of service they should be providing. I travel everywhere, never have I encountered such rude staff at every level; from the cleaners to the bellman to the receptionist to the waiters! I won t be returning
Amazing staff, everyone is nice and friendly. Good choices of meal options. Water sports on site. Highly recommended for families with kids.
Property was clean and quiet
The food, atmosphere, nightly activities and customer service were outstanding. The grounds were well kept and staff was professional and friendly.
Lovley landscaping and grounds . Nice and quiet beach and pools . Great coffee shop. They struggle with their service in restaurants and bars.
Staff - rude and unhappy....especially in the bars - and even at Piccolo Mondo - we found the lady behind the bar very abrupt and rude The occasional exception but overall a bad experience Food adequate only Probably will not return
Was lovely but a lot of bites from mossies
Joust an all around great place with great friendly people
The location and view of the resort was beautiful. It was quiet and very relaxing. It was clean. The gym was excellent. Some staff were very friendly. Others not so much. The refrigerator in the room was not stocked with water or pop. The Diet Coke was terrible. The calibration was off. It was always flat. If we wanted to stock our fridge we had to purchase the beverages we wanted. A can of Diet Coke was $2.33 US. It was not much better than the fountain pop. There was no staff to serve drinks on the beach. Not a big deal but noted.
The resort supposedly is 4 stars.... Buffet and all the restaurants serve the same food... Chicken curry is not for everyone .... To top it off we had mice on our room which took 12 hr response from the stuff to change our room. We are not a health insp but we think mice inside your room is disgrace!! this is our fourth time on the island, but this is the worse place we ever experience. Stay away!!
Great dining choices and facilities (boating and tennis)
The food wasn’t very good
Review: Appalling Service and Lack of Care at St. James’s Club Antigua My stay at St. James’s Club Antigua was distressing due to the shockingly poor treatment I received after falling ill. On day four, I suffered severe food poisoning and became dangerously dehydrated. I called reception three times and spoke to different staff members, pleading for water. Despite this being an all-inclusive resort, I was refused water each time. I even offered to pay for it but was told that the hotel only provides one 500ml bottle of water on the first day of the stay—an outrageous policy. In desperation, I started walking up the steep hill from my room, wearing a nightdress and slippers, but the pain in my stomach was unbearable. When I couldn’t go any further, I begged a security guard for water. He ignored me, walking away and leaving me slumped over a fence, weak and in agony. On day three of my illness, I managed to speak with a duty manager. To my disbelief, I was told I should have been drinking water from the faucet in my room. However, the faucet was rusty and corroded, and I didn’t feel it was safe to drink from, especially in my already fragile state. The indifference and lack of compassion from the staff were nothing short of appalling. No guest should ever be treated this way, particularly when unwell. This experience turned what was meant to be a relaxing holiday into a nightmare. I strongly urge management to reconsider their policies and address these issues to ensure
The place was outstanding, the only bad experience was at check in. I notice guests were welcomed with a drink and we did not. The employee at reception just called out my room number but explained nothing. We left to find the room ourselves. The rest of employees were super friendly, the accommodation clean and I would recommend to everyone and come back again. Loved the excursions offered too right in the resort.
This property was out dated
Unfriendly staff at front desk.
property was clean and most of the staff was super friendly. hotel is starting to show the signs of wear and tear. it was very quiet when we went, so wasn't crowded. Breakfast was the same everyday. literally everyday. a few times we skipped breakfast and just waited till lunch because we were tired of eating the same thing everyday. lunch and dinner was good. dinner was the best, i do recommend booking reservations for the restaurants they are worth it. but all around it was a good stay
Food was very good. The staff are very pleasant.
It was ok
The property seemed well managed.
The staff was always friendly and professional the pink panter tour with shelly was great she was a great tour guide and the beach activities was great too, Christen was an excellent teacher when it comes to sailing
Stay there a week in August, very quite and relaxing. Saw people only near the pool and dining areas, which definitely was different expirience from the large hotels in mexico, dominican or costa rica. Staff if friendly. Convinient tours booking from the hotel lobby. Sargasu
Great experience.
It was an okay property. I will not be staying there again. Limited entertainment. Food options limited and okay. Breakfast was the best part. The front desk was amazing but most of the staff where rude and unhelpful
Beautiful stay we will be back
Property was great. But management needs to do a better job in showing the property and telling about events for kids that are going on and other things. Poor management in that area
Hospitality is great however, I would not recommend or return because there is limited activities and nowhere to get something to eat after 11pm. For an all inclusive resort the expectations is different. My family and others were bored the whole time we were there. Food was available scarcely and not always hot. Small portions were given and getting our food took over on hour and restaurant was not crowded. I would not return. And there were hidden cost
The rooms were empty no drinks, water was only 2 bottle you need to refill yourself, never had this experience before with others resort in carribean, not happy at all ut was most expensive vacation i done carribean not satisfied.
Very nice staff
Terrible customer service
I booked this resort only 2 days before arriving, so I didn’t do the thorough research I usually do when booking accommodations. Let me start with the positives: the staff is amazing! I never had a bad experience with anyone and they were always friendly and helpful. The resort itself is large and overall very clean and well maintained. There are a number of excursions that can be booked directly from the resort. The negatives: for some reason I thought the resort was adults only (I must have misread the listing) so that was a disappointment for me upon arriving, of course at no fault of the resort. It’s not a traditional “all inclusive” like what I’m used to. No 24/7 room service or restaurants open, very minimal dining options, no daily room cleaning and turn down service (every other day), minimal entertainment and activities. Don’t stay here if you are a foodie!!!!!! There is only one option for breakfast and they serve the same thing every day with no variation. For lunch there are 2 options and dinner is 2-3 options that vary by day. The food is bland and basic. It’s advertised that there are multiple beaches but one is a bay (so not giving beach vibes) and the other is not a beach that is accessible to get in. I would likely not stay here again simply because it’s not adults only. If you are vacationing with children or are not bothered by children, this resort is acceptable but it’s nothing extravagant.
Went there for the beech. Beech was covered with pungent seeweed Limited/same food choices every day Resturant staff could be extremely slow/incorrect orders at times, however very apologetic and friendly. Poolside and lobby bartenders A In room mini fridge with nothing stocked to drink
The damn frogs were beefin all night sounding like they were chilling in a rocking chair all night. Seaweed smell was cray in the mornings. BUT really enjoyed the spa, snorkeling excursion and friendliness of the staff. Oh and the coffee shop was a great perk.
I like the sunset cruise tour. Some off the staff were helpful but there were lots off weeds in the ocean. We were not told and we could not bath in the beach. Food choices were also limited. We expected more…..
The variety of food options available was outstanding. The staff was the best in town. Plan to return soon.
Great place to stay, we were visiting for four nights to watch the Cricket. We all agreed that four nights wasn’t enough and that we would happily come back again.
Would not stay here again. So much seaweed on the beach you can’t even use it we had to drive 15 minutes away to go to a local beach. Good was just on. No entertainment whatsoever. Our room had no hot water. The only thing good about this resort was the staff they were very nice hospitality was amazing.
Great property
Well maintained very clean
In general, the staff was very friendly and attentive. They cleaned the rooms and replenished the towels every other day, but would provide towels if requested. The main issue was the seaweed on the beach. Unfortunately, we were never able to go into the actual ocean water and had to stay on the Bayside because there was terrible seaweed the entire trip. Obviously, this is something that they were not able to control, but there may be other parts of the island that did not have the severe seaweed issue.
great pool clean room with a great view helpful staff
We really appreciated the upgrade to a Royal suite! As an all inclusive resort that has high volume of food preparation, I had one issue with milk that was starting to sour. Secondlly, on the trip home I developed Traveller's diarrhea. However I could not pinpoint the source.
No hot water the whole week and sick from food
Loved the water sports, restaurant options, pickleball courts, bartenders, room, staff.
The property was very nice and neat. The food choices were sufficient with buffet breakfast that had lots to pick from, lunch was available at multiple locations, and dinner was mostly with a sit down setting served by a waitress. Three restaurants were by reservation only with one specialty location at a added cost. This one was worth the price. No daily room cleanup and towel replacement. Was told they do it every other day but sometimes we had to call for this. The entertainment was spotty and mostly was game oriented and not well attended. Music around the pool was DJ’d and some 2-3 piece bands at a couple locations. The bay beach was nice with soft sand and calm waters but the ocean beach was loaded with seaweed and some odor. All in all, this place is a nice place to relax to but don’t expect a lively atmosphere.
Fun place to bring the family!
Resort was clean but a little tired. Rooms and public area could stand to be updated. Staff very service oriented, welcoming and pleasant. Oceanside beach virtually unusable as a result of seaweed despite daily cleaning attempts by staff. Bay beach is only alternative if you don’t want to leave resort. It was fine. Food options at buffets varied and good. Other restaurants were good as well. Group had a good time, but not likely to return to this property in Antigua.
The staff the hotel itself, the cleanliness plenty of things to do. The grounds were absolutely gorgeous. The only thing I had issue with was the food. I don’t want to take away from this gorgeous resort, but the food just didn’t taste good in my opinion, but everything else was great. I would highly recommend, this resort .
Property was beautiful, quiet, clean and well maintained. The food was good, a bit more options at lunch time at the rainbow cafe would make it excellent. Breakfast and dinner had great options. We really enjoyed our time there and would definitely return.
Real ocean front room, nice sunrise view 👍 24 hours fresh coffe 👍 Most beautiful empty refrigerator in a hotel room.
This hotel is a definite must stay! The resort is spacious, clean and well maintained. The staff are friendly, personable and made us feel the Caribbean warmth and hospitality from day 1. Chad and Dane tended bar and always served drinks with a smile. We looked forward to the evening chat at the bar with them. Elvis from the Docksider restaurant was also a pleasure. Big smiles all day long and cheerful every single time we saw him. The staff at the check in counter were also friendly, helpful and provided info of the establishments nearby and the excursions that are a must see. The island itself is exceptional. Having the smiling faces and employees who enjoy their job made our stay even better😊 First time in Antigua but we’ll be back for sure and, we’ll be staying at St. James Club everytime
The only disappointment was that the on site dive shop was closed and had been for some time. We chose St. James Club because diving was a big factor in staying there, however the other provided activities were a lot of fun.
Beautiful, quiet and relaxing.
We really enjoyed our stay at St James Club Antigua! There's plenty to keep you occupied or splaces to relax if you prefer! There's also lots of options to grab some food or a drink. The coffee shop is also a must for an ice coffee and cupcake! Sometimes service was a little slow but the staff were always lovely and friendly
The staff here was great, especially Michael at the breakfast smoothie bar. The woman handling the excursions could have been a bit friendlier, but other than that, they were super nice and professional. The resort is definitely a little dated but very clean and quite big. Food was good, though the lack of access to water during late hours was frustrating. Was surprised that room service not only came at a fee, but you had to pay for the food. That was not clearly explained and I would not have ordered as much had I known. Also, there should be a room service menu as you just called the restaurant and they listed some menu items (without sharing prices) - a one time room service cost me $115 American - DO NOT order.
Attentiveness of staff could be improved. Being relaxed & slow paced is great and part of being on vacation in the Caribbean, but when one needs to ask 4-5 times to receive something, or get something done, it gets a bit annoying. Especially after spending $$ to stay at a perceived upscale resort. This is especially true with the dining experience at St James Club. Some staff are excellent in this regard others are far below acceptable.
Loved how quiet, and private the club was, plenty of beach chairs to choose from, good amount of variety of food, especially the buffet, the cleaness of the property and the beaches, didn't like that some pathways weren't lit very well in the evening, the floor in the rooms even after being mopped were completely dirty and you could see the black on your feet, service was slow at best, and alot of the crew seemed unhappy. But never the less was really nice place and definitely would like to take another vacation at the property.
Beautiful resort with two beaches to choose from: Ocean side and Bay side. There was some seaweed on some days but the crew was diligent in clearing it and the bay side had none. The staff were soooo friendly, it surprised us. Genuinely nice people. The food options were good (4 stars not 5 because some more options would have been better). The evening entertainment was very limited but we weren't really there for shows so didn't mind the live music in the bar area and games at the coffee shop. New pickleball courts were a lot of fun. The gym is also a nice size with new equipment. Overall, a very relaxing and enjoyable stay at St James.
There were families but most of the guests were older couples. It was very relaxed and quiet. There were no rowdy, drunk groups.
An awesome property. Great location, excellent food, the personnel very helpful and friendly. The check-in was fast, room clean and with all the necessary amenities, great view to the ocean. Very good options for the meals, you can find all the time something to satisfy you. Check the local specialities, are very tasteful. Lot of activities you can take advantage off - aquarobics, kayak, paddleboard, pickle ball, tennis, the staff is going out of the way to please the customers. We really enjoyed our time there. Coffee shop offers a good selection at any hour. Everything very clean and landscape manicured. Kudos to all the people working there.
Beautiful resort, but was surprised that most staff and people in general on this island are unfriendly and often times rude. This was not just to vacationers but even to each other. It was uncomfortable and felt like we were "walking on eggshells" most of the time.
Property was very nice, staff was excellent. Food was a bit sub par for what we expected. They didn't clean our room every day.
The views are spectacular and there are lots of fun activities to do every day. The food was great. Staff who are serving could be more welcoming and friendly.
We had an extremely relaxing week! Beautiful weather and the resort is beautiful! The pickleball and tennis courts are in excellent condition. Multiple swimming pools and great water activity options (paddle board, snorkle, hobie cat, kayak, etc) Live music every night and all staff was friendly. The bartenders go out of their way to be fun - an extra shoutout to Elvis for great cocktails and always working hard while smiling!
This resort is definitely dated but it was very clean. Unfortunately they only cleaned our room every 2 days which is not great with all the beach sand. Beautiful location and beaches..lots of food options which were mostly good...dining room staff needs to learn to be more efficient and frienfly otherwise they were all very nice. Check in was great!! Would definitely return.
Excellent service. Love the entire environment. I will definitely go back next year.
It was a family resort with plenty of children. I was only with my wife and they had an exclusive adult section with pools, it was very nice and had its own private bar. It was a great stay. Everyone was friendly. The grounds were very well maintained and clean. The AC in our room was fantastic!!!! The room was large and clean.
Great resort. Super peaceful and good food options.
We loved the resort The food was excellent with so many different places to eat and drink. We loved the singers each evening in 2 locations. We had numerous excursions which involved using the hotel taxi fleet, they were good and extremely reliable. Amazing holiday in beautiful Antigua.
It was just not a very accommodating experience. Rooms weren’t cleaned, fresh linens weren’t provided. Food options were limited for non meat eaters.
I didnt like the dining service Horrible. 3rd world culture. Every thing else was great.
We stayed in the Royal Suites which provides access to 2 adults only pools and a private pool bar. That said, there is really no bad room on the resort... most are ocean front and the 2 beaches (Mamora Bay and the Atlantic side) provide great options for everybody along with the pools. Ample chairs and nobody hogging them (learn something Sandals). We will be back!
The St James Club is very relaxing, albeit expensive. The staff are very nice and very friendly. The scene is set for a good vacation. A problem exists with wait times. There simply is not enough staff. Those working there are overworked. This seems to be a management, accountancy problem. There's a story going around I heard twice, that staff were all paid off during the Covid period, and some 'cherry-picked' to return post Covid, but on reduced salaries. This is an old and widely known management chestnut, used against people to gain excess profits. Major airlines and large corporations do it all the time. One wonders if this miserable practice will ever end.
Property and rooms need updating. Dining options are limited.
Property is nice quiet and beaches are wonderful plenty of chairs dining was okay several choices each day. Staff was short so some service slow
beautiful property and courteous staff
Beautiful resort!
This property felt secluded from the rest of the island. It is very quiet, no traffic. There are 2 beautiful beaches, great restaurant and bar options, lots of beach chairs. The staff are mostly friendly and some were really great and talkative. There are water activities available. Our room was spacious, very clean, large bathroom with lots of storage space for toiletries. We loved everything about our stay!
Nice resort. Very simple, nothing special
Room was not cleaned properly before arrival. There were toiletries from the previous guests still in the bathroom and the shower drain was clogged with hair. The floor was dirty and would turn your feet black. I had to call for clean towels three times in one day to finally receive them. The resort boast five restaurants but only one of two are open at a time. Most options were buffet style and food was hardly edible. Some of the restaurants require reservations however the space is limited two it was a constant battle trying to get food. The resort is at least 10 mins from other dining options which we had to travel to get a good meal.
There was nothing we didn't like. Excellent . Excited to return next year!
The regular rooms are tired. But the suites are amazing ! Staff is lovely. Food is great !! The amenities and property is beautiful.
Not a 4 star by any stretch.
The rooms are very shabby chic and not of a 4 star standard by any stretch. The rooms are dated and in need of refurbishment. I would've like to have viewed the beach villas to see what their condition was like in comparison. The fitness suite, albeit very big, is in much need of attention, 50% of the machines are out of order or in poor condition, treadmills are unbalanced and shaking all over the place, stationery bikes are slipping when pedalling and the gym floor hasnt been cleaned properly for months as well as the yoga mats being filthy. The washrooms were however very clean therefore i can only assume the managers have neglected the gym area from a cleaning point of view. The nightlife apart from the live music in Dockside Restaurant was very poor. The bar area was so unwelcoming and empty it wasnt true. No sports on tv or music hardly playing in the background, they should make more of an effort as it could be so much better for people to sit arpund after dinner. The reception staff and the majority of the restaurant servers were so miserable however the reefdeck and Mamora Bay bar staff were much more friendly. I believe this is also down to poor staff training and management where they are not setting the standards to create a better atmosphere and service. The coffee shop is very good which i used daily. The staff were always polite and helpful in there. The beaches on both sides are lovely and clean and great to watch the sunset on the Mamora Bay side.
We had a great time at st James’s club. The beach is beautiful and clean. The food was great. 3 new pickle ball courts, gym and nice pools. Lots to do. We will definitely go back again. FYI. There are no washing machines available. The hotel does offer a per item laundry service, but it is costly.
The heach was not one of the nicest on the island...limited beach walking space...horrible horrible horrible horrible entertainment. The food was cold...We were offered a special breakfast and it was mot delivered...in fact, the staff looked at us as if we were crazy even though it was the personnel at the desk who suggested that we request this typical Antiguan breakfast. There are not enough adjectives to describe the performance of the DJ....negative adjectives that is...definitely jot worth the money we spent!!!@
The staff is beyond wonderful and just give you a great experience. The food is very good and the special restaurant is five star. The rooms need an update but overall we had a fabulous time.
The food was mostly good, but we thought it missed the mark for a 4 star resort. You need to do a lot of walking because the resort is so spread out. Staff were friendly and helpful and always greeted us with a smile. Beautiful property and beaches. Our villa was spacious and very clean. Might go back in the future.
A great experience
I was literally steps from the Beach. Loved the view. I found the staff very friendly and really willing to go out of their way to make sure your vacation was going well – even the gardeners would stop and say hello. The ladies in the coffee shop remembered my order each morning – always with big smiles. There was a great band that played one night. I also actually learned how to sail – something that has always been on my bucket list. My only complaint is that I did not stay long enough as I never left the resort. I heard a place called Shirley Heights is a lot of fun on Sunday. Hopefully, I will be back to see Shirley Heights.
Best vacation EVER! We had a beachfront room and woke to the sunrise and went to sleep hearing the waves. We loved laying on the beach with the palm trees and playing pickleball in the afternoon. I had the best cheeseburger at grill on the beach. Highly recommend Pink Panther - Joy and the girls were fun and informative - rum punch helped
Could have been fabulous but let down by the Seaweed on Coco beach and the fact that most of the restaurants were closed and the bars were mostly closed or understaffed
The staff was very friendly Ann’s accommodating. The island is beautiful. We will definitely try to make it back for another stay.
The problem with the Resort is the sea weed is on and it smells terrible. The resort should let people know about this condition which it effects that side of the island. You could not use the beach and who can enjoy the limited food with that horrible smell.
The location and staff was amazing
The staff was friendly, responsive to requests The coffee shop was my favorite and they had the best dessert’s The beach is lackluster; too much seaweed not as beautiful as the Caribbean ocean; I would not return to this resort for that reason There was also a lack of beach/pool towels; limited cloth napkins in the restaurants and limited evening activities
The property had multiple amenities but all were in a poor state.
Beautiful property. Well manicured. Almost all staff was courteous. ALMOST! Almost as if you were on an island to itself. Check in is a fictional 4:PM. Us an a whole lot others had to wait because rooms were not ready. Maybe the owner needs to hire more staff? There's a Huge seaweed pile up on the balcony side and it STINKS. Not minor stink but major STINK! Smells like a whole lot of dead fish PILED UP. Maybe the owner should do something about that? I saved the best for last. We arrived on Thursday the room wasn't cleaned till Saturday and when were got back to the room on Saturday after it was cleaned not only did we have to go begging for clean towels a clothing item was missing. Somehow my dress t shirt walked out of that room???? Not a good look. I wont be staying there ever again and i wont be recommending that place.
St. James's Club Antigua - All Inclusive | Home in Mamora Bay | Travala.com
Beautiful property. People were friendly and helpful however small customer service requests (ie. Fix the phone) we’re not addressed. It is suggested that there be a small snack bar/quick food available at all times during the day. There may be times when you miss a restaurant open time but still need a little something to eat. Something of this nature by the main pool area would be nice.
