This is an amazing place and as someone who has just recently relocated to Cairns it was a great place to stay while try to find a house, I will definitely recommend it to my family and friends.

Comfortable place to stay when in Cairns. Can easily walk to the marina for water activities.

Stayed here for a week with my boyfriend! We both enjoyed our stay very much! I loved the pools and the space in the rooms! Nice to have a kitchen to cook and had everything we needed. Would stay here again

A good, simple and clean place to stay if you are out and about, and need a place to rest after a busy day.

It was very close to shopping center and about a 15 minute walk to the the waterfront. Very walkable area and close to restaurents. Cost to airport was about $20 using Uber. It was a bit older property but still met our needs of doing laundry and walking around Cairns to go on tours.

Value for Money

Handy to Cairns Central for all shopping needs. Not near the water (but we didn’t pay for the view). Three stories with no lifts. Ask for the ground floor if stairs are not your thing (32 steps to the top floor!).

The apartment was centrally located. The staff on reception were very helpful and you could book trips through them. The area around the apartment was immaculate as were the pools. We loved our stay and will return.

For a budget hotel the property is excellent value. It may not be in the best area of Cairns but we felt completely safe and it is handy for the town and train station. The staff are friendly and check in is very easy. We stayed there for 2 nights with-a break in between, the first room was a bit tired looking but was clean with good facilities in the room. The second night the room was excellent and had obviously had a makeover although the shower pressure was very low. We would recommend as a value for money hotel.

The area was quiet, lovely pool and very close to amenities. There was only a little bit of noise when the train went past but that wasn’t through the night so not a problem. Pool could have done with some umbrellas to provide some shade as not really any natural shade throughout the day. The staff were a little rude, when reporting an issue with the TV I was met with a little attitude from a staff member. But other than that the place itself was perfect.

Very happy. Just a bit surprised toilet near pool closed when people swimming.

I liked the excellent swimming pool, the flow through air, the cleanness of the apartment. Could be a bit noisy if people come in late.

Close to everything

Overall not bad,the only problem was that the walls are thin you can hear neighbours,also smoking neighbours wasn’t pleasant,kitchen a little bit small,but sauna was excellent.

The apartment was way too noisy, Office works was on the other side of wall. trucks/containers coming in at 6 am most week days. housekeeping never gave us sugar or soap (wednesday they came and changed sheet made bed) BUT NO more soap or sugar, tea, coffee, etc had to get our own.

Didn't like the Tradies getting up early and starting their Utes at 5am or the garbage truck just outside the window, was on the 2nd story room, next time will ask for ground floor apartment, but all good!

The rubbish collection on the property with large metal waste bins is very loud and in the early hours. Our room was right where the large truck made as much noise as possible.

Exactly what we needed for our stay in Cairns. Great sized unit that felt like home away from home. Right next door to Cairns Central Shopping Centre and railway station. Easy walk to esplanade.

Apartment was lovely and fairly spacious. Bed was comfortable and there was a balcony with table and chairs so nice area to chill. Pool areas were nice. Couldn't find a bin for recycling and it appeared everyone was putting theirs in general waste bin for landfill.

Nice clean room. Not happy with stairs only access as we were on the second floor.

I was happy with our stay at Southern Cross Atrium. Loved the location.

A very comfortable place top stay.

The apartment I had was clean and of reasonable size.It was fully contained - laundry, full size refrigerator, oven, good smart TV, etc. The only complaint is the design of the buildings. Every window & balcony looks directly into an other apartment's window & balcony. The pool view apartments have a bigger gap between the apartments. About a 1 minute walk to Cairns Central shopping complex, 10 minutes to the waterfront, 5 minutes to Rusty's Market and 8 minutes to the Night Market. The waterfront dining is about 12 minutes away walking.

Nice room with balcony overlooking pool. They were a bit reluctant to give us new towels and bed sheets after 6 days out of our 11 day stay. Overall though enjoyable

The self contained apartments were ideal for our stay. It was spacious enough to stay for any length of time with all the amenities you need, modern kitchen, laundry, lounge and dining on the verandah which can be closed off for privacy or from the weather with louvre shutters. Brilliant idea.

Good value!!

Conveniently close to the Cairns shops. Lovely pool area. They could probably get rid of all the signage telling guests what not to do if they want guests to feel welcome and relaxed. The sign inside the dishwasher was a surprise. Otherwise a great place to stay.

The only thing that was a little frustrating was the wi fi at times was intermittent. And the Chromecast played up at times and on occasion hard to connect. Otherwise thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Would come back again.

Spot on- room spacious, clean and well equipped, check in was quick, simple and friendly, location was spot on. Would stay again in a heart beat. Does what it says on the tin.

Handy tropical apartments

Great place to stay in the tropics! It has 3 pool areas. One of which is heated. One is a mini lap pool. Coming from Tasmania - always good in Winter! The apartments come with great facilities. We were able to easily cook meals each day. Also situated almost next to the shopping centre. So convenient.

It was central but felt safe. Good walking distance to places. Cute little apartments, but spacious and had a tub. Only thing was it’s near the train station, lucky it doesn’t run at night. And would stay here again

The property itself is great, although you do need to be able to use stairs if your room is on an upper level as lifts don't exist. The noise comes around 6.30 a.m. - the front-lifter garbage truck arrives to empty the big rectangular metal bins. The banging as the bin gets lifted and emptied is very noisy! Bad luck if you were hoping for a peaceful sleep-in.

The unit was very clean. The only thing needing renewal was the dryer filter. I liked the shutters for security. I used the chromecast feature on the tv. It wasnot quiet though. I had to shut windows to put on air conditioning in order to sleep.

Great parking but getting hard to get a park

Mostly good but it was very noisy, either chainsaws in the morning or other guests making noise till the early hours of the morning. The beds are also way over due to be changed, not a very comfortable nights sleep on either side of the bed. Location was good.

Enjoyed my stay here, clean and comfortable. Friendly staff. Good location. Can be a bit noisey if there are loud groups/children in the pool. The heated pool is only slightly heated, just to take the chill off. Overall would recommend.

We got pool view, but our room was next to train trek and busy road. Otherwise the hotel was perfect.

Cheap hard mattress

Wotif should boldy state this property has extremely limited access for older people. There are no lifts and staying on the 2nd floor you have two flights of stairs to use.

Great location, close to the esplanade and next to a shopping centre. Apartment was very clean. There was a lot of noise early in the morning from the construction site opposite.

Good accommodation in a good location

My stay was very pleasant, except for the forklift noise every morning from the next door Officeworks storage bay.

Almost perfect. Clean space, comfortable mattress. The AC in our unit couldn’t quite keep up with the summer heat and monsoon humidity, though the 2 units were both in working order. Also, no blackout curtains— always pretty bright in our room at night.

Stay was good but property doesn’t have proper amenities for your own cooking and cleaning. Wifi is worst. After requesting for early check in , room was not ready.

Good Budget Apartment

Adequate for the price. Bit like staying in an upmarket Caravan Park. My main complaint is the Synthetic Sheets. I had to sleep in my clothes as in the warm climate it was like sleeping on sandpaper. The room was good and spacious. Location for shopping & Travel was excellent. (Next to Railway Station and large shopping centre). Good walk to beach, Cairns shopping precinct and wharfs. (about 5 blocks) For a family on a budget, it was very good. If you want views, luxury and quality, try somewhere else.

Love the kitchen and laundry. Great apartment for holiday makers who wanna cook for themselves.

Everything nearby

This complex is Located on a quiet side street near the main shopping mall with grocery stores and is walking distance to the beach and the harbour. It has also swimming pools as the local beach is not swimmable.

Great central area to walk into town and very convenient to shops and restaurants.

The deluxe room with balcony was great with everything you need to look after yourself. I loved having a washing machine, dryer & a large fridge plus all the crockery & cutlery you need to make life comfortable.

very small -- no space for or luggage--very little space to eat--only outside table--asked about a foul smell in the apt.on arrival--,was given an air fresher--but after 6 nites got use to it . We were on the 3rd floor--difficult for 74yr old to carry suitcases

There were two things that we did not like about our stay at the apartments: 1. There was no wifi during our stay as apparently there was an issue with the wifi and it was not resolved until just before we left our accommodation. This was disappointing as we could not do any work there while we were there (we had to go elsewhere to use wifi). 2. The pillows that were provided in our Unit were all soft pillows - there were no other options to have hard pillows available. Apparently, each apartment has different owners so it depended on who the owner was as to what type of pillow they provided. We were stuck with soft pillows (even though we asked the office for a change of pillows to hard pillows).

The property is very close to Cairns Central for all incidentals you may need, and is within walking distance to many other places of interest. Parking on site if you wish to hire a car. My room was pretty spacious for a studio and was clean and looked out onto the pool area. Reception staff were friendly amd answered all questions I had. I would stay here again.

Great allround

Hidden resort so close to everything. Perfect spot as a base for exploring, or for staying put and relaxing and being amongst nature

A clean and friendly resort with 3 separate pools between 3 blocks of apartments. Good size rooms with only one TV to share between living and bedroom. About 15min walk to main the main strip but close to the Cairns central shopping centre which is good for retail and grocery shopping.

Stayed at Southern Cross. Good location near to Cairns Central and any easy walk to the waterfront.

Our ground floor unit was dark, had no natural light. Had to turn lights on during day. Industrial noise in area woke us early. Some reception staff were not friendly. Would not stay here again. Disappointing considering other reviews were so favourable?

We went Atrium because had kitchenettes and we didn’t want to always be eating out. But it was almost impossible to cook anyway. Utensils/kitchenware were not good condition and anything we were able to make had to get scrubbed out of the pots and pans and was lucky to survive. Pools are nice, and the location is great as far as close to shopping centre and also walking distance into town. Also a heads up that the road front apartments will be subjected to bins being collected every morning at 5am - does put a dampener on a holiday hearing such a loud racket every morning at that time.

Helpful staff Ground floor was perfect for us

Once a week laundry change was insufficient, but in day that we requested a change mid week and it was done immediately thank you . Maybe there needs needs to be recycling accessed as there are only dump bin access . Bbq cooked brilliantly. Location was marvellous allowing us 70 yr olds to walk to the shopping centre for groceries etc .

Keep on returning

We stayed here last year and made sure we rebooked when we stayed on the weekend as it's one of our favourite places we have stayed in Cairns. Will be out first choice in future visits as well

Location- great To single bed joined together no good ideas-extremely uncomfortable in the middle of the bed. Bed mattress very hard , ended up with sore body. Pillow very hard , like a rock coursing neck pain. Fridge not working, the doors from fridge keeps opening (need new rubber around the doors or simply buy new fridge to keep foods fresh. Also , I reckon that should know earlier that my room is on second floor and there's no lift. I was dragging my 30 kg suitcases on the second floor on the sleeperly stars - Danger situation . Despite couple of staff in the reception areas, assistance/help was not offered. Apart of all this room was ok . Thanks

Nice little kitchen area to prepare a quiet dinner for two. Easy walking to the grocery store in the shopping center was just a couple blocks away. Area is quiet but close to things.

This property is dated. Reality does not match the photos. The Deluxe room is anything but. Rooms are dark. Limited self cater. Single beds pushed together, hard as stone. Noisy garbage trucks each morning. Do NOT book this. And if you do, don't expect any refund or resolution from management. NOT RECOMMENDED
