The property is convenient to the airport, it’s the only positive thing about this hotel. Plenty of negatives though. We were trying to check in at 2:45, at which point, we were told that the room will be available ONLY AFTER 4! We left the hotel to walk around. At 3:50 we decided to return and get our room, but once again a very unpleasant unsmiling woman informed us that it’s not 4 yet! The room became available at 4:15 only. In terms of food, it’s just as bad. They had only toast at breakfast, there were no other kinds of breads offered, they were running out of items constantly, there were no BANANAS at all, no ripe fruits period. Most foods were cold, waiters looked like they hate their jobs, whenever we asked for anything, it seemed they were doing us a favor. Thank god we only stayed three nights. On our last day we asked about a hospitality room (most hotels offer them) to shower and change before our flight which was at 5pm, but of course we were informed that this hotel doesn’t provide it and we should use the bathroom for that!!! We’ve travelled a great deal and I can honestly say that it was the worst hotel we’ve ever stayed in. To any future guests, please save your money, don’t come here.

On my aviation nerd bucket list to visit Maho Beach and the Sonesta offers a near perfect location.

It was nice to stay at Sonesta. The staff were helpful and polite. The food was good with many options. The experience overall was an 8 out of 10 for me due to the fact that the food could have been slightly better for the amount of money we paid just to stay the weekend. There are a few places to shop within walking distance but the real reason to stay there is the fact that you can walk to Maho Beach and watch the airliners take off and land from Princess Juliana Int'l Airport; that is something to experience.

The entrance and lobby had a wonderful ambiance and a warm welcome when we arrived. Easy check in and check out. External facilities- pool, gardens; ocean views were amazing; night entertainment was okay: dining was well stocked. My wife and I do not drink alcohol so value was not the best for us in that respect. Asked a few times for tea and juice instead of alcohol and was told to ask housekeeping.. which when we did they are not responsible for that. Overall is was good .. a pleasant stay.

Air Conditioner dont get cold

Oneca Williams Manager onsite needs to be trained with Customer Relations. Before arriving to the hotel they tried to charge my card the full amount when I requested to pay at the hotel. I then received an email if I didnt pay I wouldnt be able to stay. When I arrived the AC wasnt cold in the room, I spoke with Oneca she kept telling me maintenence would repair it. Each say they came to the room saying the would repair but nothing was done. The manager didnt offer a fan or a room change. It was a horrible experience at this hotel. I wouldnt recommend visiting this hotel ever again. She then proceeded to send A. Mowery to come and speak with me because she couldnt face me with all her lies she told me the entire stay at the hotel. At the end they tried to tell me they couldnt compensate me with anything because it was out of their control.

Only great thing about this property is that it’s located near the airport.

Delta Airlines cancelled flight to SXM on January 11. I was unable to travel. Kindly refund my money for accomodation for three nights. I have reached the reservation desk of Sonesta St Maarten which has referred me to EXPEDIA I need a refund of money. Delta has refunded for the Airfare now EXPEDIA has to refund my money

The Property is very dated, and the rooms lack many modern features and amenities. The room had to be changed upon arrival due to a strong, unpleasant odour in our existing room Notes for the reservation were sent prior and acknowledged, but none were actioned during the check-in experience or throughout the stay. This was highly disappointing! The property is convenient for short-term trips and layovers but is not recommended for luxury vacation stays.

Great resort, lots around to do. Not much entertainment on resort at night though, that needs to be improved. On site restaurants are okay but need better options.

The property was plagued by a horrible sewage smell, and the food was disgusting. There was no entertainment on New Year's Eve, despite sky-high prices, and even after New Year's, there was nothing to do. You’ll just feel completely ripped off—that’s their approach. Even breakfast was a disaster. How do you mess up eggs? They managed to serve me raw ones! And not a single smile from the staff, it felt like they were annoyed by your presence. I went on vacation after working hard to earn the money, and this is what I got in return. Don’t waste your money; it’s not worth it. I even tried to cancel my last night and get a refund to stay somewhere else, but they refused. They claimed the person in charge wasn’t available and was unreachable the entire time. They also told me I booked through a third party, so I had to deal with them. By the time I tried to fix the issue, it was too late. My hard-earned money was just wasted. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place!

The property itself was okay but the shower in the hotel room was awful. The water leaks out intonthe bathroom flooring while showering. You will need extra towels for the bathroom.

Great place to stay! The location is the best! Super close to the airport and other areas to visit. Dining options were mostly buffet style but still very good. A few things about our room were a problem. The building is a little old and twice there were leaks from the ceiling. The safe didn’t work and the side of the building we were on was where the garbage and sewage plants were. That made it so we could not enjoy our balcony. I would come back but make sure to request a room on the Left side/or pool side. The staff was amazing! So helpful and nice. Everyone made our stay enjoyable and fun. Side note- if you walk to Mullet bay beach- wear closed toe shoes, I got bit by a centipede on the trail. Very dangerous and hurt like hell.

The food and drinks were good. Not many of the wait staff are friendly, younger staff are. If you're looking for entertainment in the evening, there is not much. The resort has no designated smoking areas, so if you're a non-smoker, bring your inhaler. Resort had a wrong laundry charge connected to our room, but removed it. Unique resort, airplanes are not bad if your room faces the pool.

The value of the all-inclusive is definitely worth it. It was fun to watch the airplanes come in. I also enjoyed the fact we did not have to make reservations at the all-inclusive restaurants. Rooms were clean and comfortable.

My stay at Sonesta was incredible. I had an amazing time. The property was very clean and the service was great. The staff were friendly and hospitable. My room was cleaned daily and housekeeping was very respectful.

Same food in the buffet everyday and the service was okay but not great. The drinks were good everything was clean. Traffic is terrible if you want to go outside the resort.

The resort was very close to the airport so arrival was quick. The check-in experience was smooth and the welcome glass of champagne was enjoyable & appreciated after the flight. The room was very nice, clean and airy. I was not successful in attempts to regulate the temp inside. Both the Casino Royale & other hotel patrons made the noise levels high at times with doors slamming at all hours & loud music at the casino until 3 AM every night. Also, the rule of not reserving chairs by the pool and beach is not enforced. Unless you are out just after dawn there is little chance of finding a good or any chairs in either area. Checkout was easy.

Resort is minutes to the airport and located on a strip with other restaurants, bars, and stores. It’s a busier resort so if you’re looking for quiet this might not be the place for you. La Fontana and Jing’s are great dinner spots. Ocean Terrace buffet and Cantina also a good options. Pizza is nothing to write home about. Downside is the buffet is the only breakfast option, would be nice if there was another choice. Resort is located on a public beach but the water is beautiful and Ocean Terrace/La Fontana have stunning views. Stayed on the Maho Beach side but Ocean Point seemed nicer and has some other options. Can’t beat the value for an all inclusive though.

The property is in disarray, the property is dirty with mold issues. The management is a joke as they are completely aware of issues with no care of patrons frustration. I canceled my reservations while checking in.

They can update the rooms’ furnitures but over all the landscaping is beautiful. The menu in the restaurants were the same but with different names. Their food wasn’t hot when they served us. Perhaps use hot plates but eating cold food isn’t fun The front desks ladies are at time clueless and they can’t answer simplest questions or use resources to get us help

There were a lot of scuffs on the wall and floor of my room. There was also a roach in my room the first night but I attribute that to being in a tropical area. The food could’ve also been better and I wish they had more activities but the beach was beautiful although hard to get to. The views were amazing and the staff were so lovely. Would go back for them!

The overall resort was excellent. But the restaurant Cantina Paradiso the open buffet made my wife and friend sick.i did not have the buffet and was not sick. The buffet in general need to have keep the cold items colder. Chreese selections were rinny.

Our second time back and just love the propety. My favorite person is Mikael the bartender by the pool bat. Sooo nice and a great smile and mixes the best drinks. Food was ok and property a little dark at night as the lighting is a little low so be careful but besides that all 10’s. Will def be back

Bartender Carlos was amazing

We stayed for 6 days as a family with two young kids. Everything was excellent and family friendly. The staff was excellent and always very helpful and friendly. They accommodated all of our requests and made our stay very memorable.

Came for convention, nice bar and attentive bartenders on the 9th floor. Verrrrry slow elevators. Staff often did not have answers to everyday questions but made the effort to find out for us. Some did not even know location of restaurants.

I like everything It was the ideal place for my group.

I enjoyed my stay at Sonesta Maho Beach. The staff was great, the food was good and I loved my room because the view was amazing. However, after booking I was alerted that the main pool would be closed due to renovations and it definitely impacted my stay because the other pools were very crowded because of this and loud construction went on for most of the day because of the renovations. I just wanted to know this information before I booked.

Overall it was a nice property. 5 minutes from the airport. Little issue with the roof in the lobby that was dripping water. Very friendly and caring staff.

Spoke with Janell to cancel this reservation she told me no problem when I was in person and then turned around and did something different. Rooms are outdated you get a more comfy bed in jail. Bathroom overflow with water when you shower that flows into your room and hallways.

The only thing I think the hotel messed up they should've had a bathroom next to the pool where everybody peed in it. Some people stayed for hours, so I'm sure it was nothing but pee in the water. The hotel should've made a bathroom next to the pool.

Preferred the common areas (e.g., bathrooms) to be cleaner. Also preferred that the property would have had at least one restaurant open at all times throughout the day so that food, rather than pastries, would be available. View was beautiful and staff was mostly helpful and pleasant. The ladies in the coffee shop were lovely and helpful!

Where do I even start? Asked before coming to resort for a fridge to chill my babies breast milk. They said they couldn’t accommodate more than what they offer. Checked in and saw I had a mini fridge so I was like score, this is perfect. All I need is the freezer compartment to freeze my icepacks to transport my milk for my baby. The compartment was overflowed woth frozen ice, called for help and they give me a cooler that does not cool my milk. I told them the issue and they bring another cooler. Same issue. Now its been two days of complaining I had to use the ice bucket and my Stanley cup to keep my milk cool and chill on ice. Ridiculous. Finally they brought back the fridge once ice was tawed out and another one from when I complained on like the 12/13th time. One ice machine was not working in the mini fridge so that icepack was not frozen for transport. The dining was uncoordinated and food was sometimes cold. Over all, I am not happy with my experience at this resort and definitely won’t choose it if I come back to visit this country.

Overall the resort was ok. Pools closed everyday at 6pm which absolutely sucked. As soon as the party would start, we were forced to leave. Food buffet was actually not bad at all, especially comparing it to any of the RIU’s. Also, some of the staff were rude. I noticed inconsistency’s as we were told certain food places within the resort were closed when in actuality they were open. Another huge issue was that there were only TWO pools. One extremely small pool that had a swim up bar which ended up being the pool most people utilized. However, I don’t think it’s appropriate to have many young children in the pool with a bunch of intoxicated adults—which is what happened everyday. Young children sitting right up at the swim up bar with drunk adults being poorly monitored. I definitely would love to go back to St. Marteen but refuse to come back to this resort specifically for these reasons. I hope this helps!
