the staff was very friendly and helpful, but the hotel itself didn't feel like a hotel... the room was very small for a 4-person family and was poorly organized. felt more like a hostel then a hotel and the pictures are very misleading. the location is great and we got excellent service from the staff but the overall experience wasn't good mainly because of the condition of the room. would not recommend.

Great little room

Unbeatable location. Perfect as a place to sleep and shower as you explore the old city. The room was small, but if you are staying in this area you should be out as much as possible. Just know what to expect: this isn't a big hotel with a staffed front desk. The desk is staffed at limited hours, you have to buzz in at the front door to enter the hotel floor. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Just don't expect the traditional full service hotel experience. Also, if you're traveling with young children, note that the rooms are very small and it will likely be too cramped for a family. But I will stay here again. If you could choose any location in Barcelona to have a great experience walking around and seeing the city, this is the place.

This is a very simple establishment, however Idina, the front desk host was amazing! She was so helpful and friendly! The room was clean, the beds were comfortable and the bathroom was big, which was a different from what I have experienced in Europe.

We had to check in at the hotel Across the road as they do not have a 24 hour reception. My husband’s backpack was stolen as we were unloading from the taxi. I informed the hotel by email and there was no response. Not safe if arriving in the evening. We were appreciative of the people outside the hotel who helped us.

Not a good experience overall. The reception area is located inside the room area and you can hear all guess conversations when checking in and out. Additionally, since there is no guard on the entrance door, if a guess leaves the door open you can get unwanted surprises such as homeless entering into the property to do their personal needs. We experienced fecal material behind the elevator which last for an entire day, and it was very uncomfortable. On the good side, the staff was friendly and responsive. However, we would definitely not come back to this hotel.

Definitely a private hostel room with basic amenities but for a family of 4 that spent almost no time in the room (only for sleep) it was perfect. Clean, safe in an amazing location and affordable! I’d definitely stay again!

It’s a bit hard to find because it’s inside an apartment building and the process to access the reception is different, but once you figure it out it is a great place to stay I would suggest a deep cleaning to the bathroom inside the shower but everything else is great I would definitely recommend this place and will stay again there.

Son Nit Born was a nice place to stay. It was a convenient jumping off point for seeing Barcelona and for heading to the cruise port. It was easy to catch a cab near by and close to some cool things to see. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the room was very clean.

The welcome here was amazing, kind motivated staff. The location was great. The room was clean and big enough. There was plenty of storage and a safe. The view was of an inside courtyard. The walls were very thin meaning we were disturbed by others on numerous occasions but overall a pleasant place to stay.

Good location, clean, but noisy

The hotel is in a really good location, and is relatively fresh and clean. However.. the walls are paper thin, so people coming back and forth the reception area which is located in the middle of all the rooms is very noisy. The reception area staff also leave at 9pm, returning the next day at 8am, so during this time you will often get groups gathering in the reception area making noise. 1 night we actually had a male knocking on all the doors at 2am as he’d lost his key. So I would say probably don’t expect a good night’s sleep here. The bathroom unfortunately also has a frosted glass swing door, as opposed to a proper one, so not a great deal of privacy. Overall it was ok.. basic, noisy but clean enough. Could definitely do with a full length mirror in the bedroom..or even just a mirror other than just the 1 in the bathroom! Also needs some hooks to hang stuff on, both in the bathroom and in the bedroom, as we had nowhere to hang towels, coats, bags, etc. (Apart from hooks located within the actual shower cubicle).

Best Place to Stay

Som Nit Born is a hostel with private rooms and private bathrooms. It was an “oh so pleasant” surprise. I didn’t know it was a hostel when the reservation was made, so I was somewhat apprehensive when I discovered it was a hostel. There were 3 of us in the room. It had 3 beds in a spacious room with a nice bathroom. Because it was private, they cleaned the rooms. It’s located in an entertainment district with lots of restaurants and shopping. The managers were nice and helpful. It’s a great place to stay and I I highly recommend it and would definitely stay again.

Great place in a great location of Barcelona!

Great experience at This hotel. It was close to a great part of Barcelona. The hotel was clean, comfortable and Air Conditioned. Nice little balcony that over looked the square. Check In was easy and as explained. I had to contact the hotel several times while out and they always responded immediately.

Very enjoyable stay

My daughter and I stayed for 2 nights. Som Nit Born exceeded our expectations. It’s quiet, clean, spacious, good air conditioning, small fridge in room, spacious bathroom with great shower. Staff are very friendly. The building is newly renovated, with elevator. I phoned on the day of arrival as our eta was after 9pm. It was no problem. I received clear instructions where to collect the key (hotel very nearby), which was efficient. Great location in trendy El Born, Picasso museum 7 min walk, good breakfast, brunch and tapas places around. Good value for money. I highly recommend and would stay there again.

Amazing hotel with a central location

Location was AMAZING, we were able to leave our bags at the apartment for the morning as we arrived too early for check in - the receptionist was very helpful. We had a lovely room with a balcony!! Offered to clean our rooms everyday. Overall hotel was all that we could want and more.

The location is amazing. located very close to the metro station in a historical area with lots of things to do in the evening and also very close to the sea you can enjoy the sunset view by the mountain. :( The noise is impeccable. The first two nights I could not sleep. The check-in desk is located on the same floor with the rooms. The door is old fashioned so you hear when anyone comes in or out. In the middle of the night, there is a lot of noise tha comes from outside and inside. If you are a light sleeper I would not recommend unless you can live without much sleep. The bed linen and bathroom were relatively clean but they need to vacuum the floor as it had lots of dirt and hair, was disgusting.

Nice place to sleep and shower with very helpful receptionists. My one small complaint is that the printed notice by the bell downstairs is in a very small font that my old eyes couldn't read when I arrived in the dark.

Location great, comfy, pleasant.

Location by the port and metro was excellent. Easy to find. Basic reception - bit of a hostel feel, but that wasn’t a problem. Friendly and nice. Slight downside was the wooden floor in the bedroom was a bit dirty, and there was a strange soot that was over the bedside table and floor - hard to tell where it had come from. Room was small but sufficed for one night for one person. Bed and bathroom both fine. Recommend to stay if you just need somewhere to sleep, well located. Putting the strange soot down to a one-off!

Hostel rather then a Hotel

We only stayed here one night. Though I feel it was a little over priced & pretty hard to find the location was pretty neat. It looks as if the lower level was still being remolded it was kind of a mess but the upstairs where the rooms are deemed as if it was recently remodeled. It had 3 twin beds which was far to many for the size of the room & the bathroom was tiny. You would have to step into the shower to shut the bathroom door in order to get to the toilet so cramped doesn’t begin to explain it. So glad it was only 2 of us & one night.

For a second it was tricky to find but was nice and tucked away. The place was very clean and small and had great amenities- just what we needed. I'm sure it's not a common occurrence but the night we stayed, there was construction in the morning...at 7:00...jackhammering for hours. Again I'm sure that's not common, but wasn't the most pleasant or we would've at least liked to be notified so we could've planned to get an early start. The only other downside was there was no room for "late check out" but they did have an option for you to stow your luggage and come back later to retrieve it which is nice. Overall the place itself was nice and in an awesome location by the coast!

We recently stayed at Som nit. Although it took us a minute to find it we were highly satisfied by the service that was provided, the location and cleanliness of this hotel. It might not fit the definition of a hotel but it offered all that was needed to enjoy a beautiful stay in Barcelona. Special thanks for all the staff especially Rosabel.

Som Nit Born

The hotel location was within walking distance to the Cruise pier. The rooms were very clean but the building was old and dingy looking. Had to walk up two flights of stairs with all of our luggage to get to a check-in desk. There are no amenities at all. They are in the process of installing a small elevator in this historic building. There was no TV remote in our room and staff had left for the evening when we discovered this.

Tiny room, but great location

Room was much smaller than expected. Despite the aircon being on, the room felt tropical most of the time, which made it difficult to sleep. There was no toilet paper on arrival, which was quickly resolved. Safety box was out of battery, so I had nowhere to leave my valuables. Staff are very friendly and location is great, with beach and lots of tapas bars etc. within walking distance. Very close to metro station with easy access into town.

Great location!

We loved staying at Som Nit Born. It is a terrific location with fabulous tapas bars every direction you walk & Mediterranean beaches within walking distance. Lovely balcony with large doors let in the sea breeze. Great shower, comfortable bed. Our room was tiny but in Barcelona, you don't spend much time in your room anyway. There is way too many things to do and see. The staff was pleasant & always helpful.

Nice clean hotel, near to beach and centre

I really liked this hotel - the staff were very friendly and welcoming and they spoke great English which was so helpful for me as a solo traveller from the UK. Small room but perfect for one - clean, comfortable and safe. Very highly recommended. My only comment is that if you are travelling with elderly guests or people with mobility problems this might not be the best hotel for you, as it is on the second floor and you have to walk up some poorly-lit concrete stairs to get there - so in terms of safety/comfort this might be something to consider.

Nice Hotel, close to metro and beach

Great location, it is a bit hidden away when you first go to find it- however, its location was amazing. 2 minutes from the metro and 10 minutes from the beach. Lots of places to eat nearby! Staff were friendly and very helpful. Room was clean and modern, with great air conditioning! Bathroom was modern. Overall would recommend!

Nobody there at check in time. Dangerous for late arrivals. No lift. Steep stairs. Dangerous if you travel with luggage. Location is good only during day light. There are not enough clear instructions to get to a hotel that is just part of an apartment building. It is not even recognizable as a hotel.

Based on the photos I saw of this place, I was a little disappointment when I arrived. The first floor was under construction and had no obvious signage of the place. The construction worker told us to walk up to the 2nd floor to check in. It’s a cute place and close to everything, like VERY convenient to walk EVERYWHERE! the room was nice and clean, but I guess my expectations were just a little too high based on the photos! Still would recommend this place for the price and friendly staff!

Horrible. They lost my reservation, turned me away and charged my credit card. Now, my credit card company must intervene.

It’s a great hotel

It’s on a second floor and the entrance is been renovated. The location is great you can walk everywhere. You have many restaurants nearby and the tourist bus stop is across the road. We had the family room and it is spacious, very clean and inclyhouse keeping toiletries and towels. We will go back again and stay in the same hotel. We loved it and very nice staff.

Boutique hotel in Classical area

Very comfortable small rooms in a classical building near sea and good access to centre of Barcalona. No catering and unpretentious entrance with entry phone and staircase with 35 steps to reception with no lift. Very helpful staff and a real pleasant place to stay.

Hotel with many small issues

Small cosy hotel with friendly staff and issues: my room had no daylight , safe was not working, room had brownish white towels, hotel is quite hard to find when you arrive first time, works in the building.
