Beautiful property

We love the service and overall experience from Sofitel properties. It is our hotel of choice when available. The location was perfect and the room was quiet. We also enjoyed breakfast at their restaurant Opaline.

Lovely stay at the Sofitel

Our stay was everything we could ask for. The room was large and the beds comfy. The towels were luxurious. We ate breakfast every morning and the selection was great and food delicious.

Great Stay

I stayed here for 3 nights with my four young kids. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet at night. The location was perfect for us. We were able to easily walk to many of the sights, which was really nice.

Housekeeping never cleaned room, or bathroom, and left dirty coffee cups in bathroom sink. Cleaning staff finally came at 11:30 after calling front desk. Never replaced used towels and bath towels. Netflix did not work. Bday css as ke was delivered to room without plates and troops.

I'd definitely come back!! Extremely close to The White House if planning a visit. Great staff and clean, comfortable rooms.

Did not like the fact there was no mini bar filled in the room. Most nice hotels have a late checkout as far out as 2:30. They kick you out at 12:30.

Besides me calling to ask about any incidental fee and them telling me there wasn’t one but I get to the front desk and him telling me it was $100, the hotel was very beautiful. Clean, great furniture and great service. I had a king suite and it didn’t have a microwave so that sucked. But overall I would recommend and come back.

Great location to stay in D.C.

Recently stayed at Sofitel in D.C. and had a wonderful experience. The room was great and the service inside the hotel was top-notch especially the front desk staff. The restaurant breakfast team had food ready in short time, good portions and the croissants were exceptional. However, I believe there’s room for improvement in the external entrance area. First inpressions last a lifetime. It could be more inviting, and a bit more attention to detail from the valet staff in welcoming guests would enhance the arrival experience. Overall, I still had a fantastic stay and would recommend this hotel.

Service Exceptional, Rooms Need Attention

Exceptional service from the staff at the hotel. Impressive lobby. The rooms are in desperate need of some TLC. We weren’t happy with our first room, and were given a second room instead. Although that room was an upgrade and bigger, same of the issues remained. There were stains/markings on a lot of the walls, the air conditioning was loud and clunky and running a tap in the bathroom was loud. The location is super and close to the White House, with easy access to the Washington Monument and walking distance of Capitol building. One of few hotels I’ve managed to get ‘Chromecast’ to work for Netflix. The bar/restaurant downstairs is brilliant and I really can’t underplay that the service from every individual at reception was exceptional. I just wish the rooms were as good as the service. I would stay again, and would recommend. Please just consider that your rooms need some work, and hats off to everyone at Reception!

Great location!!

Great location in relationship to Washington DC sites. Easy to walk. Food at the hotel was great! The restaurant Bobby Van’s across the street from the hotel was excellent too. Both had outdoor seating which was nice.

Amazing hotel - Restaurant staff not as nice

When I visit DC, I stay at the Sofitel. Since 2012, my partner and I choose the Sofitel as our preferred hotel. The hotel common space and rooms are consistently clean and well maintained. The rooms are very comfortable. The front desk and housekeeping staff are friendly and accommodating. I've noticed that some of the the Opaline staff come across as unwelcoming. It's in their body language and how they speak to guests. Some Opaline are curt in their interactions with guests. I experienced it, and I witnessed it with others. I noticed this shift in restaurant staff since 2022. It's disappointing and off-putting.

The hotel was very close to the Mall so walking to museums and other historic sites is fairly easy. Several great restaurants are located nearby as well.

Good experience but it needs to have the bar open to get drinks outside until at least to midnight for staying guests -all good but this is the one negative which is a easy thing to fix

The young man with the curly blond hair that checked us in was very kind and attentive, I don’t remember his name because I was with small children and trying to calm their excitement of being in a new place. He was truly wonderful.

Great location near the White House. Walking distance to the monuments and museums. Nice boutique hotel. Clean rooms (albeit small). I was in D.C. for pleasure. I would probably like this room better for business. Nice desk, quiet, and free Wifi. Free Coffee bar in the morning was nice.

Don’t make this your first luxury experience

This was my first time staying at a nicer hotel. I understand my family and I don’t look or dress like the usual customers but we were met with a tone of judgment and indifference I found insulting. The girl that helped me check out was very sweet but no one else explained any amenities or gave us any instructions or assistance to make our stay a smooth experience. When we did figure out room service on the provided QR code no one answered the phone.

Beautiful hotel in an excellent location. Hotel was so quiet. We could fully unwind at the end of long sightseeing days.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay in the hotel. The room was comfortable although some chairs were worn. Amenities were up to Sofitel standards. Staffs were courteous. As an expedia gold member, we were eligible for a room upgrade and complimentary items (bottle of wine, etc.). The hotel did not offer any. Maybe a notification should have been sent from expedia.

Parking is quite expensive and you can only do valet. I believe there was a note about soundproof rooms. The rooms are not soundproof. Housekeeping was very dependable and thorough. Its an older property so the rooms are definitely a little dated.

Good location to visit the White House

I booked a king suite and was given a queen room. Was told by the front desk that the hotel has no queen bedrooms. Housekeeping said yes our room was a queen. Had a miserable night thinking I was cheated out of our king room. Insisted on discount for the subpar room the next day. Will never go back

The location is quite convenient, but the hotel is getting old.

From the moment I walked through the doors, the staff and hospitality at Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette were top-tier. I especially marveled at the exquisite room and very comfortable bed. Additionally, the free bottle of wine was an added bonus. I'll certainly be returning next month! 🤗

My wife and I found the staff to be professional and attentive. We ate breakfast twice in the Opaline Brasserie we reste the good and service as excellent. It was an enjoyable experience which we recomend.

Property was nice and clean. Staff was very nice and quick to respond to any requests. They offer free water which was a big plus since it was really hot when we visited. Although it was a very nice stay I don't think it was on the same level as other 5 star hotels that I've stayed at. It just doesn't have all the amenities you would expect.
