Great stay for our family and convenient having 2 connecting rooms.
Adequate hotel
Room is outdated. No telephone charging outlets. Breakfast is good. Staff is very pleasant. Gym is good . Location is good . HVAC unit was broken. It was repaired the next day . Not a true five star hotel . Amenities not modern
Excellent service des part des concierges
Excellent
Excelente ubicación, todos muy amables, lo unico es que la alfombra del cuarto estaba sucia, lo cual deberian revisar.
Cold floor in a bathroom
Amazing classy hotel but bar and restaurant closed on SUNDAY - small bar on ground floor open though, so all good in the end.
Excellent location clean property with great amenities. The furniture in the rooms and lifts could do with updating
We had just finished a river cruise and needed a hotel for 2 nights before flying home. We arrived around noon and were able to check in early. The location makes for easy walk to get around the old city of Lyon. So much to see and do in the area. Our double classic room (queen bed) was perfect for our needs. Hallways could use some updating. The 8th floor bar has spectular city/river night time views but is “tres” pricey.
The room felt very spacious after we stayed in Paris.
The a/c did not work properly, I had to open the window for cool air but couldn’t sleep well because of the noise outside. The toilet in the bathroom had almost no space to sit, the wall was 2 inches away from my knees
Beautiful well-run classic hotel. Excellent restaurant.
The hotel and room was very old need to change bed and furnutire in the room
Hotel well positioned for Bellecour area and old town. Ambience is good. A reasonable buffet for breakfast. One day we had curdled milk and the water for tea was only warm not boiling.
Our small room was okay, but an arkward configuration where they fit a room into a corner of the building. The toilet space was cramped . Staff was nice. Dining room was nice. Breakfast was good, but not included.
More of an older hotel. Needs renovation. A bit moldy in the bathroom but the common areas were well kept. You’d expect the rooms to be the same but it wasn’t the case.
The hotel was convenient to Bellecour plaza and the old city. It was clean and well maintained. There was no pool.
The inside of the building is a bit outdated, but it is kept very clean. Staff are extremely helpful and polite. I loved the gym facility and steam sauna! The room was small, but it had everything I needed to stay for 4 days. The hotel location is superb, especially if you enjoy walking. 10/10, I would come back!
Helpful staff.
Excellent hotel and staff. We will definitely stay again.
Loved the location, breakfast, room was great
I booked for 2 bed, only got a king size one, 24 hours room service but there was no more food, rooms furniture and setup is like they are still living in the 70', very poor for a Sofitel in France!
Very nice decor in the hotel and staff was very friendly and professional. Conveniently located close to Bellcour plaza with lots of restaurants close by. Area right next to the hotel was not as well lit as the rest of town so it was a little iffy, but overall no negative interactions.
I expected better bathrooms for a Sofitel. It looked like a Motel 6.
This was the prefect stop to rest for our long France trip. The hotel was way fancier than what we expected. Perfect location! It also had a parking garage which was needed for our trip.
It was just a nice hotel, not much more to mention than that.
Location was perfect for an overnight stay before a cruise. Beds were extremely comfortable. Rooms could use an update which they are working on. Would stay again.
Very nice hotel. Good location. Quiet. Friendly staff.
Staff at the hotel were extremely helpful and polite. Their fluency in English made up for what I did to their language. The breakfast buffet was also really well done. Very comfortable room with a great view!
Great place
Liked the property generally. The staff was very nice, made good recommendations. The air conditioning was not working well, which made it uncomfortable in the room. Also, there were a minimum of electrical outlets, which made it somewhat difficult to keep things charged. Finally, The shower design was poor.
Great helpful service. 1970’s dated feel to rooms, they could do with make over, but clean and well maintained. comfortable bed.
2 nite stay.
Booked river view room. Room large, bathroom huge walk in shower, bed king and comfortable. Ac was built in by window, im not sure how effective it might be in summer. One comfy chair one no so much, 2 would have better. Fridge with free nibbles and softies. Nice central position in city.
Faded rose. The property shows wear on every surface. We had the largest suite whixh was huge. The bedding and linens were excellent. Every surface was scratched.nthe carpets were worn and the bathroom(s) tiles were outmoded and cracked. The tvs were small with no connectivity. The spa was underwhelming with a decent steam room and a walking shower that was not impressive. Gym was decent. Did not try the restaurant but no way does this currently deserve the 5 starsnit got decades ago. Staff was quite nice and helpful.
Very helpful staff. Great location.
Loved the stay here. Would definitely visit again
Stayed just one night. Room was nicer and bigger than expected. Good location on the river and close to the metro. Bell service during arrival and departure was excellent. Breakfast was very good but a bit expensive compared to other properties or options.
The staff went above and beyond to help us on our vacation. The beds were very comfortable. The room was clean. The bathroom was spacious and the shower was great!
Almost perfect hotel in perfect location!
Really recommend this hotel. Perfect location in Lyon, Valet parking (€30/night). Lovely lobby and entrance, meeting 5 star expectations. Very friendly, capable and professional staff too! Location was as good as we could expect. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay, with clean and comfortable rooms. Our only constructive criticism would be that the rooms feel a little tired (4 star standard) but it is obvious that Sofitel plan to address this, based on the incredible refurbished lobby. Furthermore, complimentary minibar (water, soft drinks and nuts) more than made-up for this. I will stay here again on our next trip to Lyon.
Great location!
Well located and comfortable. Helpful concierge made several reservations for us
Superb service throughout our stay. Thank you.
Lovely position with view over the river. Staff were very helpful. Light bar drinks and service impeccable. Breakfast on Floor 8 super
Great stay!
The property is in severe need of an upgrade, cabinets, bath, furnishings are from 40 to 50 years ago... views are nice but don't overcome these issues
I’m glad Expedia has some good hotels on their website. This is one of them. Sofitel is in Belecour area which has a metro closed & one can get to the heart of old town- or you can walk crossing the Pont de Bonaparte over the river La Soane. The hotel could do with some updated carpets in the corridor which are worn out & shabby— which gives one a bad impression of what is to come. However the rest of the hotel is well maintained & clean. The breakfast room as a great view. The convenience to the old town is the best thing about this hotel.
Rooms are spacious, bed comfortable but the property is old and tired- service was hit and miss - air conditioning had to be fix (sweated the first night), then had to request 3 times for the removal of someone’s clothing from our room (the repairman’s perhaps) and also found the toilet seat up (did he use our bathroom?). Had to ask at reception for toilet paper as housekeeping forgot to refill. Certain areas of excellent service- the man who checked me at the front desk staff, concierge and person at downstairs bar. Excellent central location for visiting rest of Lyon and walkable to Bellacour station.
3 nights in Lyon
Good three night stay. Carpets in bedroom were badly stained and should be replaced. Attention in breakfast room could be improved.
RWC 2023 extended stay
Wonderful hotel, stunning restaurant on 8th floor. Junior suite was spacious with a very very comfortable bed. Bathroom/shower looking slightly small and dated compared to some, but water pressure was great.
Rooms are beautiful, bed extremely comfortable. Spa service a nice addition and staff extremely accommodating
The outside terrace are not clean. And at the bar upstairs you have to reserved as people come from outside, as a hotel guest you don’t find a table and they let you know that they have a waiting list.
Perfect lacation to anywhere in Lyon. Easy walk to the while historic downtown area
Very good central location, great staff. No complaint whatsovever. The hotel, while still very good, starts to show its age in terms of design, architectural features, etc. But still a good value
First trip to Lyon
Great location, nice facility and great amenities!
Great Hotel with excellent service and a good view. Rooms and bar in need of a bit of a refurbishment in my mind
Very nice place, excellent service, very quiet, convenient!
Nope... Not worth the money
Minimum amount of bathroom towels... Room badly serviced. Bad mattress
Not like at all
Access to shopping and ding was great, we had some of the best food in Lyon.
Great service!
This hotel was recommended by previous Viking Cruise participants since it is so close to where our ship is docked. Checkin was tremendous. Room more than met our expectations. And breakfast was outstanding.
This is definitely a 5 star hotel and not overpriced. We really could not find one thing wrong! We stayed here 5 years ago and returning did not disappoint. The location is perfect, the rooms and amenities ideal and the staff couldn’t be nicer.
all in all a good stay
The hotel is ok but extremely dates. could be so great with new furniture etc. it needs rennovating
Location and river view
Very considerate service. Great restaurant, though expensive. Left cell phone in room, and they contacted me right away so that I could retrieve it before getting on train.
Great hotel in a great location. In fact the location could not be better. Excellent staff. Nice rooms, if a little dated.
Breakfast hours finish too early In general the hotel is very good
It’s a very clean hotel. Always someone who speaks English at room service. Overall customer service is amazing
This hotel was in a great location. We could walk to both rivers very easily.
The staff were very pleasant, well informed and very helpful.
Would have rated 5 out of 5 apart from mix-up with security deposit.
Excellent customer service, perfect location and very clean. I will recommend it to everyone.
Our stay at the Sofitel Lyon was great! Rooms were very clean, beds were comfortable, and towels were oversized and very plush. The staff was amazing! The concierge made dinner reservations for us both evenings at local cafes/restaurants within walking distance. The food was incredible along with the wines. Thank you for making our stay in Lyon so memorable. We will definitely stay here again when in Lyon.
This must have been amazing in the 1980s. Unfortunately, not much has changed since then. The facilities are very old and not well-maintained. Even the TV system is outdated, has a coupe of channels and does not allow to connect to Netflix or Amazon.
Front desk staff was super. House keeping lax. First room with broken AC. The upgrade room was tired, need update. It's a 4 or 3.5 star hotel. Definitely not 5 star!!
Extra effort to be Lyonnaise, nice complimentary juice water snacks, amazing breakfast and view of city and river from dining area.
Liked it!
The staff at the Sofitel was terrific and our room was comfortable. The bed was amazing with crisp white bedding! Breakfast was included in our room rate and it was very good! The the hotel could use some updating here and there. The tile in our bathroom was chipped and the table by our window was old and wobbly. The biggest drawback for me was lack of electrical outlets, especially in the bathroom. The hair dryer was attached to the wall and there wasn't one outlet to use for a curling iron. One other disappointment was that we had dinner in the dining room on our last night. The service was slow and the food was expensive and disappointing. The view from the restaurant, however, is wonderful.
The best location to stay in Lyon. Walking distance to everything. The best service by all staff. The room deco is outdated yes, but very clean. The bed is extremely comfortable. After a few hours you forget about it. He staff will bend over backwards to make your stay a classy stay.
Hotel lobby is fine but rooms and bathrooms are small and very old! Location is perfect!
Decent business class hotel in very good location. Superior room was functional and has a good sized bathroom with nice rainshower. Breakfast was good but overpriced if not prepaid. Recommended
This hotel was excellent and had an amazing breakfast. The beds were so comfy as were the sheets. The shower was great. The staff was really friendly. There was a breathtaking view of Lyon on the top floor restaurant. We would totally go back.
nothing not to like...
The location was excellent.
Lovely overnight stay in Lyon. Great accommodations. Excellent view from 8th floor restaurant. The Basilica was beautiful. Great location close to Vieux Lyon.
Good location and helpful start. Needs partial refurb to match 5 star standard
Outdated - not worth a visit
The hotel is very outdated - does not compare to the high standard of Sofitels elswhere.
Good stay
Good place to stay, but the room is out dated. It needs to update the facility. It has a great view to the river.
Best address in Lyon?
Perfect location, comfortable and spacious room with a world class breakfast overlooking the city and the river.
Nice location, clean, friendly staff. AC did not work well.
The best part about this hotel was the excellent service. The staff was really helpful and all requests were acted on immediately. The location is also perfect for a visit to Lyon. The only issue with the hotel is the that rooms are in need of some renovations and upgrades. If/when they upgrade, this has the potential to be the best hotel in Lyon
This hotel was perfect for me and my 20s something daughter. Its location and proximity to Vieux Lyon, The basilica, and the restaurants/bars was perfect. The staff was helpful and took the time to help us decide where to go and what to see. Best of all, the staff really seems to love Lyon and wanted to show it off. Great stay
The room was nice, clean and quiet, the staff were very helpful and friendly, gone out of their way to help us. Great place to stay
The rooms were a little dated but very clean and well kept. Just needed the rooms to be remodeled. All the common areas were updated. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. Everyone that helped during our stay were extremely pleasant. Highly recommend staying here. Very convenient to everything in Lyon.

A nice older hotel; staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms are fine but rather outdated.
