Close to cruise terminal. Clean and quiet. Not very good food options. If you’re American, there is a McDonald’s and KFC within walking distance. No other American food options.
Lovely place and people!
The ladies at check in were so lovely and great to work with as we arrived early. They stored our luggage, gave lunch tips and were terrific on our return. Rooms are just what we needed, clean, good size, terrific shower. Highly recommend this hotel
This hotel is very expensive for how bad the property is. It’s very old, the A/C did not work, and seems very dirty.
The front desk staff were excellent and very kind and accomodating. However, the bar and restaurant staff were very slow. We were the only ones in the bar at one point and literally had to hunt down the bartender for another drink. The morning buffet ran out of eggs and silverware and dishes. And the patio eatting area isn't large enough to accommodate a hotel of that size.
This hotel is not quite a 4*, but it's trying. Nothing was terrible, but nothing was great. Housekeeping was very inconsistent, shower design needs a fix - water can go all over the bathroom. People were friendly.
Air conditioning was inadequate. Poor selection for buffet breakfast. Sausage was warm. Bacon and scrambled eggs were cold.
Area around the hotel is just ok. Many closed business around the esplanade.
Very nice rooms and polite hotel staff. Restaurant staff needs training in public interactions and clarity of offerings
For du France
Very good. Staff especially the front desk folks were very nice and professional. What else could I ask for.
Staff made the stay great
A "Class Act"
Everything there was just right. The place is modern, with excellent wifi, electrical outlets where you want them, and expected amenities such as high-quality in-room coffee. The service was outstanding, including a receptionist who went out of her way to arrange desperately needed laundry service outside of normal service hours. I look forward to returning.
A pleasant option to explore Fort-de-France
Nice clean and modern facilities very very close to the waterfront restaurants and old downtown.
Lovely hotel, great location and staff is very helpful Breakfast was good. Plenty of restaurants, five to ten minutes walk
City view
We had a ferry connection andvthe hotel was so conveniently located. We walked to terminal
More like a modern business hotel in a city that will take you back in the 70's. The Simon was my oasis. The location is the best.
Excellent please
Beautiful hotel and very clean. Great restaurant and bar. It is right on the water and about a 30 min taxi ride to airport and 15 min to cruise terminal. Note- There are no nice places within walking distance to eat nearby and really nothing to do in the evenings near the hotel.
Very nice stay!
Perfect location !
AC unit stopped working once the window was opened, I called front desk nothing less than 5 times for help, in which the guy said there is no technician available to fix it and I must now move to another room at midnight when I was already in bed. I didn't move and no one came to help. Apart from this, there are no adapters to charge laptops and phone that didn't have an european plug.
Awesome
Everything at the hotel was fine except the door to the balcony was not locking which it may it very concerning for us
First off, the picture of the attached building (gleaming tower) is not the Hotel Simon. It is a small building that is not really advertised properly. There are difficulties getting in & out of the building. The room was comfortable and sapcious, so no complaints there. Location is suitable.
Excellent
We had to change the room in the middle of the night, because the toilet flush was damaged. The substitute room was not very good.
This is a basic business oriented hotel in a great location. The breakfast is pretty good although 1 day they ran out of eggs. If you don’t get to breakfast early enough you may not get a seat on the veranda. The veranda is a great place to relax and have a drink. Although it was said that there was Tapas from 5 to 7. It was sometimes difficult to order it. The staff seemed preoccupied with getting ready for dinner. The close by Indian restaurant in the plaza was very tasty but a bit pricey. We had no problem buzzing in the hotel with or without a car.
Disappointed Stay
I booked a twin bedded room specifically and on arrival given double bedded room when queried was told none available as fully booked
Very satisfied
Very satisfied with our stay, we will definitely be back
We chose this hotel by photo. However, in fact, hotel is NOT located in tower on picture. It’s located in nearby building. It’s hard to find entrance to the hotel (!). Elevator doesn’t have proper air conditioning. No bathrobes, no slippers. Broken French window’s lock in our room - not possible to close window. This is unsafe and you hearing at night noisy cars. Reception girl misinformed me about time I must arrive at airport. She told 3 hours in advance, but my check in opened 90 minutes before flight time only. Disappointing.
Chic and friendly
I very modern, upscale, waterfront hotel. Staff could not have been more accommodating. Convenient to all point’s downtown and the ferry. Didn’t see any other hotel in Fort-de-France to compare.
Conveniently located with good restaurants , bar and very friendly staff .
Restaurant was the worst we ever seen from a 4 star hotel. Terrible service, lack of service and once served you were forgotten! All steaks are well done regardless of request! Fried duck was raw! Dinning area on the terraza was primitive. Would not recommend to anyone to use the dinning for dinner. Breakfast was very good
The location of the property is great! next to the bus station and the port where you can take a boat to 3 or 4 different beaches for day trips. The only thing i miss was having english tv channels besides CNN. So if you planning to stay at the hotel for a rest of in a rainy day hopefully you can enternain yourself with the local french cable..
Bad food
Food was very bad and air conditioning did not cool the room - #520
We stayed for carnival from 2/21-2/25 which is a very busy time for them and it was a great stay. The location is directly in the center of everything, and you can walk to where ever you want to go. Our rooms were cleaned everyday, we had a great view of the bay, we got a fresh water bottle daily, and the staff was courteous. We did not speak French and it was not a huge issue. Check-in was a breeze. Every woman we spoke to at the front desk spoke English. They never had a problem calling a taxi for us to take us somewhere far. One time we got stuck and couldn’t call a taxi and we called Mary at the front desk and she sent a taxi right over to us. The only issue we had the entire trip was around 11:30pm we left the hotel one day and when we tried to get back in we couldn’t. We were ringing the buzzer for almost 30 minutes, and had security call. The man who was manning the front desk said he was on the floor. We did report it the next morning to one of the ladies at the front desk and she was very apologetic. She assured us it would not happen again. It was worth the money and we would definitely go back and stay at the same hotel again. THANK YOU TO THE FRONT DESK LADIES MARY, EMILIE, and STEPHANIE AND TO THE WONDERFUL STAFF AT HOTEL SIMON FOR A WONDERFUL STAY!!
stay at SIMON was extremely comfortable, friendly, and the hotel was beautiful
Clean, modern, quiet. excellent bar and restaurant. close to cruise ship terminals. I did not "access" to hotel...many stairs for luggage, difficult to find an elevator. No pool or hot tub.
Convenient to the ferry. Balcony door did not lock and outside was very loud. Would have been nice to have a hook or two to hang damp towels and bathing suits.
Beautiful Property in a GREAT location . . . . very nice w/great views!
Great, relatively new, modern and clean hotel in Fort de France close to the harbour. Great views of the city from the building and especially the outdoor bar terrace. The hotel does have a very business feel but we couldn't find any other hotel around Fort de France with this modern and stylish feel. Centrally located near the harbour and city centre, it was very easy to arrive by ferry from St Lucia and walk to the hotel. The boats to 3 ilets and the city centre are also 5 minutes walk away. The staff is very polite, professional and helpful. The hotel also put us in touch with a car rental company and the process was very easy and we could use the hotel car park for free. On the negative side, you have to be manually let in to the hotel each time which isn't very convenient (we had to wait 10 mins outside until someone opened the door). The room with 2 treadmills and a cross trainer called the gym is very disappointing for the standing and price of the hotel (small, dirty white walls, view on a block of apartments, really hot in there as AC not working properly). The restaurants inside the hotel had no vegetarian options and all the chef could propose as an alternative was a salad. This was disappointing. Expensive breakfast not worth the money. Still a good, but pricey, stay at hotel Simon overall. Would recommend.
Very friendly and helpful staff..........................................................................
Great potential but needs to work harder.
The Simon is still the best hotel in Fort-de-France overall. However, a few flaws made it loose points: - Leakage on the corridor of the 3rd floor which leaves a very wet spot in the middle of the corridor and therefore implies a humid smell. - Poor amenities in the bathroom: no conditioner and no body lotion. - Poor window insulation: woken up by a city worker using his very loud blower at 5:00AM to prepare for the arrival of the cruise ship. - Terrible looking breakfast buffet. Has a lot of potential due to its great furniture but very cheaply displayed and poor variety. On top of that, terrible attitude by workers who did not make me feel welcome...
The air condition was working very bad , it was very hot in the room, I asked to repair it but they didn t. Wi fi in the room was poor, only working at the entrance of the room
1. My AC did not work properly and its was really warm in the room 2. Limited toiletries and towels 3. Limited staff 4. Manager Rebecah does not understand that she works in the service industry and may be best placed as a regulator in a government agency 5. Long wait for service 5.
Excellent clean and new hotel with great amenities and facilities.
In the center of the city easy easy way yo move around rhe town
As english speaking guests to the Francophone island of Martinique, we still found it a very welcoming experience with helpful staff.
Elegant, chic hotel, located by the wster close to the Fort, close to restaurants.
Very comfortable and attractive room. Great view. Not much happening in town because everything closes down Saturday afternoon through Sunday, so we appreciated a comfortable room to retreat to. Only frustration was the lack of a concierge service. This would have been extremely helpful, as we do not speak French and were having trouble booking excursions and finding vendors that were open.
Delighted with our stay!
Superb room & terrific staff. We were delighted with the room and service. Exceeded our expectations in all regards!
The TV does not work -- no tv channels available at all.
It's a clean, friendly hotel! For non- French speakers I would definitely recommend this hotel. the staff were able to make reservations for me to restaurants and excursions, I would not have been able to do on my own.
Proximity to the Malecon, local beach and ferries to varying cays
- great location, walking distance to food and shopping - handy perks like complimentary parking
Clean, neat and stylish hotel with a helpful, friendly staff
What the room lacked was more than made up for by the local restaurants beautiful harbor views.
The hotel is generally well appointed as a business hotel. The rooms are quite pleasant and front of house staff quite good. The hotel however has a major problem with bar service. On the evening of 26th the bar and terrace were quite busy and more than one young man was required to provide adequate service. Most people appeared to be drinking cocktails which is a time consuming exercise and I would guess the average waiting time was over 20 minutes. I just got up and requested service at the bar but phone calls seemed to be more important. On 27th at lunchtime we were greeted by and employee, went to sit on terrace, were given menus and that was the last we saw of the young lady. When we asked another person on leaving we were given serious "attitude' by another female employee. Shame really but on reading other reviews this problem seems to be recurrent so I guess it is acceptable.
The staff is amazing. The location is perfect. So much to do within walking distance.
Excellent for business
I was in Guadeloupe for business and needed a hotel with a good location to get to meetings on the island. This is perfect location with close access to the highway crossing the island. Staff was nice, helpful and easy at the check in. Room was very nice and comfortable with a great view of the beach. Nice and clean bathroom, separated from the toilet which I would recommend be upgraded. I would also recommend purchasing better cable package as TV's only included a limited choice of mostly French channels. Facilities were great: I loved the breakfast in the morning and direct access to the beach and a large pool. Birds are aggressive at the restaurant and food must be watched at all times. I also enjoyed very much the garden surrounding the hotel with lovely views. A special note about the Hertz representative at the hotel who was able to find me a rental car at the last minute. He was very helpful. Finally, the surroundings are great with a bakery and restaurants near by and a 15 minute walk to a Casino Geant to purchase wonderful French food products. One word of caution: the car park around the hotel is large but fills up quickly.
Nice hotel, poor service.
It's a nice hotel nut let down by poor service. As an example on all three days breakfast was hindered by lack of cups, plates, cutlery, bread etc as they never replaced anything that had run out and guests were left asking for these items.
The hotel was as advertised . The Staff was friendly and the room was clean. The room was noisy ...there was a drum beating outside late into the night. I will say it was a very secure and safe place to stay.
Very modern and chic hotel. Prime location by the port with access to the local ferries
The hotel is very nice, but there was not much to do in the area. Maybe it's the time of year we went (February) but the shops only open when cruise ships come and shut down very early. It was hard finding good places to eat in the area. Luckily we rented a car and drove around to other areas.
We had a wonderful time in Martinique
Just returned from a fabulous, seven day stay at the Hotel Simon in Fort-de-France, Martinique. The hotel was conveniently located with beautiful views of the harbor on one side and the town and mountains on the other. The rooms were well-appointed, comfortable and clean and the staff were courteous and helpful. When the man on duty at reception was uncertain that our 4:30 wake-up call had been received he actually came up to our room and knocked. This was indicative of the service more generally. We also ate a couple of dinners and breakfasts at the hotel restaurants and were more than satisfied. One of the hotel restaurants featured an outdoor patio with lovely views of the ocean. A breakfast room featured similar views. Finally, we loved the location which was convent to the town and ferries to beaches and resorts. Overall, our trip was great and the hotel contribution to our fine stay.
The hotel is very nice. I am American so the language barrier to order food and services was difficult to navigate. The menu's are all in French and the wait staff couldn't always tell us what each item on the menu was. Overall I loved the hotel.
Overpriced for what it is - but like everything in Martinique.
DO NOT STAY HERE. Arrived 6pm, room not ready until after 8pm. One towel in room, and told I can walk to front desk to get another. A/C was worthless. Hotel bar/restaurant does not open until 7:30pm, closes 10:30pm. 20+ minutes to wait for drinks from bar that was 15 feet away. Service is polite, but excruciatingly slow. Dinner buffet on Sunday night was small, and never replenished after first layout. 39 Euro for virtually nothing after a few minutes. Couldn't find any staff for 45 minutes. Felt they didn't care at all, as being France, they are salaried and not working for tips. Fort de France is a dump, and everything is shuttered up 24 hours. Several terrible restaurants in walking distance. 4 Senses restaurant in plaza was OUTSTANDING, and the only highlight in Fort de France. Take the 20 minute ferry for 8 Euro and stay in Trois Islets!!! You've been warned!
Great hotel in the middle of the city
Very good.
Great boutique property right in the middle of Fort-De-France. Perfect for my first time in Martinique. Being right in front of the cruise terminal and only footsteps from the water taxi was certainly convenient. Airport only 15 min away. Very well-maintained hotel, hard to find such a modern place in Martinique. The food was amazing and staff was very helpful, although the day staff was certainly more attentive than the night staff. My only complaints was that there was no pool (I would suggest to management to build a rooftop pool) and the Wifi connection was terrible. Although the food was good, they should certainly provide more grab and go options, since many guests are on the go exploring Martinique, and Fort De France is literally a ghost town once the cruise ships leave.
Nice hotel modern decor. Quite disappointed by the lousy wifi in my bedroom. However the staff was really genuinely nice and this makes me firget about the connection.
No wifi at my room. no swimming pool?!?!? a nice and comfortable hotel but needs more to justify the price and rating
Has been a while since I've stayed in a hotel this good. Well located, on the waterfront, and easy enough for walking excursions in the city and driving excursions outside of it. The room is spacious, comfortable, the air-conditioning works, the lighting is good, the shower is great. The hotel restaurant, La Table de Marcel, is one of the best restaurants in Fort-de-France. The staff are friendly and helpful and effective. My only tiny quibbles are that the remote camera checks for access to the hotel is a little over-the-top, and if you're travelling with someone you're only friends with then the shower design might pose an inconvenience.
The property has no amenities except for a gym. It’s not worth the money. It’s clean, it’s a new building. The people are nice.
It is the best hotel in Fort de France for sure. It's new, great location. Everything else I've seen in the city is worn out. The restaurant is overpriced.
It was amazing
hotel was clean and the room was cute. Air conditioning worked just fine. I did not have a beach view but rather the view of the city which was still very pretty. Staff was helpful and patient. They provide good quality soaps, shampoo and lotion from CO Bigelow. I loved that. I have to say that the restaurant was lacking and the menu was VERY limited. Both the restaurant and room service closed early even though this hotel is in a city where everything closes early. You'd think they'd take advantage of the opportunity of being the sole dining option for hotel guests after 10 pm. The wifi went in and out so that wasn't great either. The continental breakfast is only worth the money if you wake up early, it opens at 6 am. Don't waste your time if you get there after 8:30 or 9 as most of the stuff will be gone but of course we found that out after we paid $15 for some kiwi and a glass of orange juice. I recommend surveying the breakfast area BEFORE you pay for a not so continental breakfast. Decide for yourself if you want to go ahead.
Le Simon Hotel is beautiful. I stayed on the 3rd floor facing the street, construction going on, started everyday about 9am. I stayed in room 308 the carpet in the room appeared part of it appeared to be stained with bleach or something. Other than that the hotel location is awesome, great for a weekend getaway. The hotel food breakfast, and dinner were delicious. Customer service was excellent. I would definitely stay there again.
Handy hotel in the centre of the city and useful as a base to explore island.
One of two restaurants closed to the public. The other restaurant had a very limited menu. The check in desk is in a weird place and hard to find. You have to ring the buzzer to be let in to the hotel, even if you already checked in and have a key. The good part is the hotel is within walking distance to shopping and other restaurants, along with some nice attractions.
Nice hotel close to water taxi. Clean and updated rooms
Very good hotel, right in town. Close to everything
Nice trendy hotel
Boutique, trendy hotel done right - clean modern and excellent staff at receiption. Really close to the centre of town and nice views from a bay view room with balcony. Would say the dining menu is quite limited, especially for dinner in the restaurant. A few more options in the bar but not a lot of variety. Also breakfast is a bit haphazard - limited staff and there wasn’t anyone around to let me know where I should be sitting on my first day and there were also no cutlery. Better on the second day but still no interaction with members of staff - make your own tea/coffee, etc.
Good location and views
Clean and sophisticated hotel with nice views and in a great location of the city. Close to shops, bay area and the Fort-de-France. For price hotel should include parking and breakfast.
Great energy
Wonderful energy! Great breakfast! Lovely view
Nice Hotel
Room warm and stuffy, hard to sleep. They said AC was not working. No exhaust fan in bathroom. Mirrors were foggy for over an hour and walls damp. Shower has no door. Water ran all over the floor. No floor drain. Shower floor slippery when wet, no grab bars to hold onto. Breakfast was good and adequate. Staff was great. Very friendly, helpful and spoke English.
Air Conditioning and Restaurant
The air conditioning in the room was atrocious. Eating in the restaurant felt like eating in a cafeteria. Location was excellent as were the staff members.
Best hotel for business In Martinique
Very nice hotel, especially for Martinique
Beautiful!
Gorgeous hotel! The staff were really friendly and made you feel very welcome. The hotel itself is situated in a central location and offers outstanding views.
no water. potential bed bugs.
No water one morning and the staff did not notify anyone. Woke up on numerous accounts with what looked like mosquito bites, but could be bed bugs. Only good thing about this hotel is it’s locstion.
Nice hotel but expensive for what they offer.
The hotel is nice enough. The receptionist is the only source of information and she doesn't know anything about local tourist activities. They need some knowledgable individual to help their guests. Food and drinks are too expensive. For example to charge $10 for a bottle of plain water is excessive. Breakfast was usually excellent and included in the room price.
No water for multiple hours for two days. Little info provided by staff. No showers or toilets makes getting your day started very challenging and frustrating. Wifi does not work in the rooms
Don't book here
Inside the hotel was beautiful and clean. It was difficult to find our way in and to find the parking area. Unfortunately when we were there in late January 2018, the water stopped flowing every morning around 8. One day there was no water for 4 hours. The buffet breakfast ran out of coffee. There was decaf in packets only but no water of course. I don't understand why the staff wasn't filling the espresso machines with bottled water or why someone wasn't sent out to a store to buy coffee. The staff seemed overwhelmed. We left after 2 nights even though we had pre-paid for 4 nights. I would not recommend Fort de France as a location for vacationers. The rain forests in the North were beautiful and the southern beaches lovely. There is not much to do in Fort de France and no good restaurants in the downtown.
Good location
The staff was most accommodating. Rooms could have been a bit cooler, but since it was January it was acceptable.
Decent hotel with terrible food.
This is a very average hotel that is priced too high for what you get. The rooms are decent, the staff is very nice but their food program is terrible. There is only food options from 8-10am and 7-10pm. Between those hours there isn't anything you can eat. On top of that the dinner is a buffet that is 50Euro's a plate that is terrible. It's something you would see at a 2 star buffet in Mexico.
Very nice. Service needs a little improvement in the bar area.
Worse hotel stay ever
They have noooo hospitality what so ever!!! I felt like soon as I opened my mouth and spoke English they became agitated with me. I didn't receive so much of a "enjoy your stay" nor did they give me brochures of anything going around the hotel. Please do not stay at this hotel.
Great hotel with easy access to downtown Fort-de-F
Hotel staff is courteous and helpful. Rooms are modern and clean. Secure garage parking. Wonderful breakfast buffet (came included with our room) with French pastries and exotic fruits. We really enjoyed eating out on the terrace off the bar overlooking the cruise ship dock. A great choice if you want to be near the excitement of the city.

Restaurant Bolibar was good, but the 'rules' about where you could take a drink that you ordered at the bar were rediculous. In the website it quite states that you can take your drink to the to the terrace but the service staff will not allow that
