Once in a life time stay
Best Resort Experience we have had in Australia. Highly recommended. Great location, views and amenties.
The property itself is exceptional, the gym, spa, pools etc are great. Restaurants were amazing. We may have gone in an off peak season so I am thinking the resort was understaffed as the cleanliness was lacking. For example our bed was made and towels replaced daily however the actually bathroom itself did not appear to be cleaned daily, glasses weren’t cleaned etc. we left towel on the Sun lounges at the end of the day and the following day they weren’t even removed. Moreso a reflection on staffing I’m assuming.
We stayed as a family of 3 with a 1yr old. We also stayed as a larger group of 6adults and 4kids. It was a great little getaway for my mother in laws 60th. During wet season(weather was still warm enough for a swim) it was quiet and had the entire pool area to ourselves, pool temp was perfect. The buffet breakfast, amazing dayspa, swim up bar and poolside food service were our highlights although a longer wait time for service, we enjoyed our stay and would return in the future. The room had everything we needed.
The swim up bar at the lagoon house was amazing and Thomas the waiter made our stay enjoyable. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the cocktail menu. Always engaging with us to personalise our drink preferences and make the time spent there phenomenal. Thank you Thomas from Zorka and Slavica
Best time of the year to spoil one self and partner
Overall okay hotel but very pricey for what you get. Probably used to be luxury but now a bit outdated and service in restaurant was not good. Hotel is very big and as it is not very well organized it makes the hotel feel chaotic. Lot of space in the pool area but pool chairs old and not comfortable.
Staff friendly, beautiful grounds, facilities, pool and delicious breakfast
Nice resort and reasonably well Maintained. Bathrooms with Venetian slat doors don’t make sense and provide little privacy. Rooms a little bland for a 5 star resort. Staff are nice and do their best but hotel is under staffed leading to wait time on everything from breakfast, check in, and towels. Overall good but could be a lot better.
Ample swimming pools, didn't like the long queue for breakfast
We booked 2 nights for four males on a New Year’s Day golf trip. Enjoyed wonderful service & experience at the mirage golf club, genuine country club along with a beautiful course. Our accommodation at the resort was underwhelming in size & dated. Resort facilities & restaurant options are excellent. We will be back to play golf that’s for sure 👍
We had a wonderful stay here. Staff were so friendly & always very willing to help with requests. Pools were divine, although we only went in the main pools. Recommend hiring cabana! Room was very spacious even with 2 double beds in there. Beds were comfortable enough for us all to get good night sleep. We didn't eat in the restaurants except for breakfast which was good buffet each day. We did get in room dining one night. Food was delicious! We had a hire car & that is really my only negative thought... the parking for the hotel rooms is very limited for the number of rooms so we had to mostly park in the Sunbird Carpark which didn't feel as safe. Overall would definitely recommend & hope to enjoy the resort again myself one day
Over 2 hours to get in-room dining
In room dining took over 2 hours to arrive, and they never answered when I called to get an estimate. The breakfast was also very chaotic. This place has way too few staff members for the number of hotel guests
Lovely spacious rooms. Pools very nice. Some construction on at the moment. Not noisy just some pools closed.
We’ve been looking forward to staying at the Grand Mirage for years. It has lovely grounds and pools - great for kids and adults alike. The upsides: the pool bar, dining options (Lagoon Bar was great!) and access to the beach. The middle ground: The resort itself seems to be in need of some upkeep. There were pool renovations underway while we were there which will be lovely when it’s done. The main pool with the swim up pool bar needed a good deep clean :-/ Overall we had a great time!
Great venue to take a break. Alternate between days by the pools and days out exploring th region.
This is my second time at Sheraton Port Douglas, it is a beautiful resort with amazing gardens, pools and don’t have enough words for the staff, they were incredible making me and my family feel very welcome! We had breakfast included and it’s very good with a big variety of food and drinks available. About the rooms, the check-in was 45 minutes delayed, after a long and tiring day, travelling with 2 kids and it was so hot and humid, I really wanted to have my room ready on time and start relaxing and enjoying the pool! I was given a few free drinks as a compensation. I’ve booked 5 nights in a two double bed room with garden view, unfortunately I had to ask to change room as soon as I got there because I couldn’t stand the smell, it looked like the room was closed for a long time and it wasn’t clean enough, I would never expect that from a 5 star resort! The receptionist Paul was very nice and helpful, he found me another room and it was much better but took me another 2 hours to settle in and finally relax… after that no complains at all. I think the resort it’s old and it needs an upgrade. Overall after this issues we had a really good time.
nice property, but old
Great property in the most amazing location! Many room options. Nice variety of dinning options. Super friendly staff.
Great location with fantastic pool and services. The staff are all Lovely very friendly and happy to help. The lagoon bar staff went out of their way to accommodate when asked about a food allergy. Will definitely be returning to this hotel.
Beautiful property. Wonderful, friendly and helpful staff. Loved the breakfast, so many choices and all good. My only complaint is, I couldn't get a decent cup of tea at breakfast. I was there for 5 days and it was the same every day. The coffee was great but I would have preferred a hot cup of tea.
An overall relaxing experience which is what i was looking for, the staff who deliver the room service, housekeeping and the people who deliver the food and drink poolside have fantastic friendly service
The Sheraton was incredible. Each morning you have a different acre of swimming pool to choose from, amongst incredible tropical gardens right beside the beach. The facilities are beautiful and the staff are lovely. The rooms are lovely and we had everything we needed. The restaurants and the food was also incredible and there is so many to choose from! Highly recommend and we would love to go back.
Our room was freshly maintained, well fitted out and the property had great facilities. The bathroom was ok but needs updating as do some of the property facilities such as external painting and the pools. Perhaps aslo some updating or modernising of some areas as well.
Great property, spacious rooms, superb pool, very friendly and helpful staff.
We stayed in a suite with a balcony and access to the pools, and it was clean and convenient to facilities, including restaurants and beach access. The staff were friendly and polite. Breakfast buffet had an amazing selection, and the highlights for me were the assortment of fresh fruits and the egg station! Overall, amazing resort and definitely recommend if you are planning a trip to Port Douglas.
Absolutely amazing resort the pools are phenomenal the staff are amazing, I stayed with my 2 kids aged 10 &12. The resort caters to both families as well as couples, lots for everyone to do I will definitely be coming back.
It’s a gorgeous hotel with wonderful gardens and fantastic swimming pools
Wonderful stay!
Wonderful ocean view & lagoon view room with comfy beds, Buffet breakfast and amazing pools! 5 star!
Really disappointed in the Sheraton. Rooms dirty, broken blinds. Staff rude. Over priced. Really really disappointed.
Good service and tasty food!
Great hotel, facilities & location for a family holiday
The lagoon pool at this hotel is amazing. Both of the two stars I've given in this review are for the pool. The hotel itself is dated and in a state of disrepair. Our room was mouldy and had not been properly cleaned since the previous guests left. We raised this with the staff and were told that mould is common at the property. There are very few facilities available outside of the pool. There is a gym available for use at the golf course over the highway, but you'll need to get in your car to drive there. There are a number of restaurants on site, but the quality of the food does not match what you'll get if you walk in to town. We left the hotel bitterly disappointed, although we loved Port Douglas and visiting the Daintree Rainforest.
Awesome stay in this resort. Staff were excellent and hotel still looks good although not having a major renovation for quite some time.
in room maintenance needed.. ie; clean air conditioning vents so no dirt and dust also vents in room neede d good clean Upholstry chairs and ottomans need a deep clean Walls needed either a good wash down or repaint to remove scuff marks , so our opinion the room was a little tired , However gardens pools and outdoor areas were excellent , as were the staff , could not speak more highly of their attitudes and helpfulness
Breakfast included
Lovely large room with pool views. An enormous area of pool and relaxing spaces. Enjoyed the well priced golf at the Mirage Club.
Do not stay here. They claim it is 5 stars, but they should be punished for lying to their guests. The pool is dirty, our room smelled and was dirty; you have to pay 30.00 to use the shuttle; the gym is located half a mile and across the street off the property. Shame on Marriott for deceiving its guests. The pictures of this hotel have all be photoshopped. This is a run down facility that is unkept and dirty. Do not stay.
The fantastic pool areas and the surrounding gardens. Easy walk to the beach.
We loved the pools
Mold in the bathroom, noisy air-conditioning, noisy bathroom fan that could not be turned off. Breakfast was good.
The grounds were lovely with plenty of places by the pools to relax. The tv didn’t work for 2 days was our only problem.
Good selection of restaurants & bars Staff customer service orientated - excellent. Beautiful setting Day spa attached had amazing treatments, but building / amenities were tired. Very sad, as the service here was second to none. The small pool with the swim up bar was fabulous, but should be for adults only. Little spoiled by pool water in your cocktail. There’s many pool areas more suitable for families with children to splash and play. Overall, a wonderful resort holiday destination.
We had often stayed in Port Douglas but this was our 1st Sheraton Mirage stay and lets just say we won't be staying anywhere else from now on! What fabulous classy, resort hotel.
Beautiful resort pool and service. Breakfast was amazing and there is direct access to four mile beach. Rooms were really well appointed but it was a little hard to get around with a pram.
A great place to stay in Port Douglas. Lots of pools - you can escape to any part of the hotel with some quiet spots to enjoy a swim and hear the sound of waves from the sea. Very easy walk along the beach to the main street.
Average. Wouldn’t rush back
Average for the type of Hotel.
Staff were great and room very spacious and clean.
Our allocated poolside room was as hoped for. We entered the pool from our private balcony steps but found the pool surface quite slimy and slippery in many places. We visited the in-house restaurant‘Harrison’s’ without a pre booked reservation. The check in staff member would not advise whether a table was available or not and referred to another staff member who bluntly stated no tables were available on the Terrace, so we would have to accept an inside table. Yikes, what a lot of nonsense, there was only one other inside table occupied by diners during our meal. Clearly there were plenty of available tables. The morning of our departure we checked in to the buffet breakfast and as we were allocated a table the pleasant lady ask if she could get us a coffee. Yes said Husband and requested a flat white. No coffee for me I said, I would like a black tea. “Amazing” she replied and went off to arrange our requested hot beverages. Husband’s coffee arrived and I was presented with a cappuccino- I told Urjan that I had requested a pot of tea. He apologised and left. After a significant lapse of time, I visited the hot beverage counter where Urjan stated that tea was self serve and promptly escorted me to the urn and tea bags. A little perplexed but nonetheless accepting of the situation I made my humble cup of tea myself. Returning to our table it irritated me to observe Urjan deliver two pots of tea to people sitting at a nearby table. What is up with getting a cup of tea here.
Great pools
We travelled with two kids. Kids loved the pool and the general vibe around the pool. Buffett Breakfast is a big plus. The room were very clean and the staff extremely helpful. Property has access to to 4 miles beach which is great too
Not worth it, in need of an update and mouldy room
Hotel is very run down and in need of an update especially if they want to continue to charge $1000 per night for a room. Our room had no working exhaust fan and smelt mouldy. We paid for a lagoon room and got a very small pool full of leaves outside our room not at the main pool. I’d choose to stay at the Pullman where the rooms are much nicer and same facilities
We enjoyed our our stay but this hotel should not be classed as a 5 star. Our room was very outdated, mould was present in the bathroom and on the sprinkler on the roof and the bathroom needed a good clean. Carpet was old and window didn’t function properly. Some of the pools were very dirty and were very old and tired looking. There was one nice pool though so we used that. Some areas of the resort look like they haven’t been renovated in a very long time and not maintained however there are some nice common areas and the restaurant where you have breakfast is clean and modern . Buffet breakfast was a highlight and the staff were really nice throughout the resort
The gym was very basic for a 5 star resort and very far away and people in gym reception golf shop not friendly. Also not enough staff to drive you to the gym and not helpful re options for transport don't want to help you. Would not stay there again.
As someone with Coeliac disease it is always a concern whether I will be able to join in with meals or not safely. I found that the dining staff were very aware of which meals would be safe for me and that I actually had a decent choice. Also, the separate setup for GF products at the breakfast buffet was a great bonus.
Pools and Pools
A great place for a family escape. Great pools and great facilities, all we could have asked for. A bit pricey, but worth the money being a holiday in itself.
A little retreat.
An enjoyable couple of days. Staff very friendly. Room spacious. The resort facilities were inviting. Buffet breakfast provided a wide variety of options for all palates and preferences. Really enjoyed the fresh orange juice and strong coffee. Fresh eggs done what ever way you like was appreciated. Service staff worked non-stop clearing, wiping tables and accommodating client needs. A bit of confusion around room cleaning. I noted that all other rooms had the blue ‘do not disturb’ light on and their rooms were done yet we did not have ours on and it was not cleaned, only a slip left under door and we had to ask a couple of times for it to be done. Clear information would be useful, particularly when patrons check in late. 2nd night, the patrons above our room were heavy footed and noisy, making it difficult to sleep. That is not the fault of the facility. We enjoyed our walks around the facility and along the beach to Port Douglas. It seems a good place for families. We know our grandchildren would love the pools, kids club, buffet breakfast, movies, gaming screens in lobby and running along the beach. Well done.
Beautiful resort but a little underwhelming
We love the Mirage, we were disappointed the room we wanted wasn’t available however no one checked in or out of it whilst we were there. Check in was a struggle as the staff member did not have a good understanding or room types. All service staff were amazingly friendly as usual though. We have stayed this time of year two years in a row for our anniversary and requested a pool breakfast that we had seen advertised however they advised it wasn’t available whilst we were there which was disappointing. It’s the perfect location and the rooms are beautiful but for the price we are not sure we will return.
Nice but not the best
The hotel itself is beautiful, the pools are mostly great. We had a swim up room and the pool outside was the worst pool of all, the window sill had caved in, the pool floor damaged, the fan control broken, pillows uncomfortable. I wouldn’t recommend the room type for the price we paid but the hotel is great. The service wasn’t fantastic, we weren’t advised where amenities such as gym were on check in and later found out we had to leave the resort and cross the road to access.
Stunning must stay resort in Port Douglas. Luxurious and spacious we were able to completely unwind and truly relax.
Excellent for families with a range of food options.
Great family holiday in paradise.
Stunning property extremely clean and well maintained. My kids had a blast in the pool and we enjoyed the restaurants at the hotel. Staff were super friendly and attentive. We will visit again
Loved the pool area and buffet breakfast
Staff are amazing. Special thanks to Brandon who offered to take our luggage to our room with his golf cart without even asking him. Food was amazing, lots of variety. Would’ve been nice if there was another pool table to minimise waiting time. AC was noisy a bit in our room, but not to the extent that I should’ve given less than 5 stars.
Wonderful pools, grounds and staff.
Fabulous resort, great location, but you can’t walk into town. A bit exclusive, and all the better for that. Rooms well appointed with bath/shower, Wi-Fi etc. Amazingly NO gym- you have to get a taxi to the country club across the road. The USP for us was access directly to 4 mile beach, except when the tide is up and of course you can’t swim in the sea! Over the 5 nights we ate twice in town, and 3 times at the fusion beach bar in resort…the dining room was too smart, and the casual dining room was EMPtY. Great little coffee shop in lobby for a light breakfast. You have to use SR coaches to get in and out of town which adds the the costs, but they are fine and take you to the airport too. Pools and facilities wonderful and they are cleaning all the time!
Everything was perfect. . 10/10
Excellent accomodation
Absolutely beautiful excellent service beautiful location and resort of my choice for sure Clean food amazing Reception luggage everything Can’t complain about anything Thank you
Short two night stay
Excellent friendly staff. Clean room good bedding
We loved our stay at the Sheraton
Loved the beautiful pools surrounding the property.
No many options for eating.
Staff, pool, everything beautiful
High hopes which was not met. Not even close.
The Hotel is nice and grand, however multiple small annoyances drive the score down. A lot of the management staff are not helpful and rude. The place is overall run down. During our stay we were impacted by no water for over 7 x days. Whilst this is not caused by hotel, they could have done more to assist with the stay and frustrations of not showering for 7 days. Also food menu needs to be updated as its same as it were 2 years ago. Have stayed here multiple times as has my family and hotel and staff + everything else as a holiday continues to trend downwards in experience rather than up. On p ositive, GM of hotel is nice and helpful.
Great experience for my family first time in Port Douglas.
Overall a great experience. Many great facilities and very accommodating.
Dissatisfied
It was quite old and given the price we paid to not have air conditioning or clean room was very disappointing
We loved the breakfast buffet. Staff were helpful when required as well
Even during the cyclone the team were fantastic and tried their best to keep us informed and try to keep the facilities open. Extremely well done to all the staff.
Cyclone Jasper
Great holiday amazing pools/lagoon rooms were nice. We got out there just before the cyclone
The property is great. But they need to pay more attention to detail with the cleanliness of the rooms. Our bathroom vent was clocked with dust, the shower glass screen needed a good clean, one of the handles on the bathroom door was missing, there was something light brown looking dripping down the wall- ?fake tan maybe, there was mouldy coconut flakes outside our bedroom window from a prior guest that had not been cleaned. Besides the cleanliness of the room, the pool area was great with lots of chairs and umbrellas to choose from. The cocktails at the swim up bar were average- perhaps some more practice was needed by the bar staff. The breakfast was great. I’d happily come back
My kids and I had a lovely stay at the Sheraton Port Douglas. If you have the opportunity while staying, hire a cabana by the pool. Preferably one with ladder access to the pool. It makes for a fun relaxing day.
Everything was amazing! Can’t fault anything about our stay!
The pool was very clean and very peaceful , because so many to choose from not crowded at all.
Loved the pools
Large resort and great pool and beautiful gardens
Great restaurants, large and clean pool - plenty of chairs around, friendly and helpful staff and high standard of cleanliness
Wow, wow. Bliss. Beautiful resort. The gardens are fabulous A dream come true. Large pool entry accomodation worth the money. Very friendly staff. Walk along Four Mile Beach delightful on appropriate tide
Beautifully situated with stunning walks available on Four Mile Beach at doorstep. My room was lovely however I did ask for a change of room as the first I was given had two issues: too close to wedding reception (noisy!) and the daybed and chairs needed reupholstering (grubby!) Also one more point - in room tech (TV and screen sharing) needs updating. Expected more for the $$ on those points
Pools were amazing and swim up bar Surrounding areas are so beautiful and tranquil Would definitely stay again
This is our second time staying here. We stayed just before covid and again last week. The place looks amazing and facilities are great….. but the service is not 5 star and that’s what you’re paying for. Thumbs down for; 👎Check in - we arrived 17 minutes early, we were told to go away and come back on the dot and get your key, which meant lining up all over again. 👎Booked for 4 people only supplied items for 2 people 👎Ordered room service on 3 occasion and asked for a bucket of ice each time, only received it once 👎on checkin asked if we could get a late checkout, was told to ask the day before. 👎day before checkout asked if we could get a late checkout, was told to ask day off and they said they would leave a message and someone would get back to us 👎day of checkout no contact from anyone, so we tried asking for a late checkout …. Guess what didn’t hear from anyone. 👎Food and drinks from the pool area would go missing, turn up 45 mins later or not at all. 👎Food from pool area was cold by the time it got to us and the ice had melted in the drinks All in all Customer Service was terrible, which is in complete contrast to our previous stay. Such a shame as it’s such a lovely place to stay
Rooms were clean Spacious staff were friendly and helpful pools and pool area amazing
Well designed and maintained property with extensive pools as a feature. Dining options varied but some not always available due to demand and pre-booked functions.Staff friendly and helpful. Noticeable noise from children during school vacations. Excellent golf course.
Overnight stay
We didn't stay long enough but we enjoyed our overnight stay.
The big swimmable lagoons and pools

Reception very tiered, large property maintenance could be better but pool areas are very nice .
