Great retreat with plenty of space
Great location, clean accommodation and was quiet when we visited.
Outstanding property. Self contained unit where you can prep breakfast or an easy dinner if you don’t want to eat out every meal. Two great pools that are really quiet and peaceful. Perfect place to relax and unwind. Lovely, helpful staff too. Really close to the Main Street (Macrossan St) with all dining/shopping within a 5 minute walk. Loved it, we’ll be back
Fantastic place to relax and unwind
Property was clean tidy and very well kept very close to local restaurants and shops which was lovely
Great stay thoroughly enjoyed it…definitely will be back!!😀
Incredible staff always happy to help. Everything was close by.
Really relaxing
Very clean, nice quite place to stay
Excellent all round. Well maintained & every bit as nice a stay as it was when we stayed 8 years ago.
Great comfortable stay.
Great location within easy walk to four mile beach and all restaurants and shopping. The studio is comfortable, away from the Main Street so quiet. Balcony overlooking the pool has a table and two chairs so very pleasant. There is a washing machine and a dryer just outside the unit, and washing powder can be purchased at the reception desk for $2:00 for a small sachet On the whole, it is a nice place but could use a little renovation- there is mold around the shower floor and around the sink, the comforter, although it is covered by a sheet is pretty badly stained. Small nuisance but certainly not expected in a prestige resort.
Fantastic place to holiday
Adults only quiet & beautifully kept property with easy walking distance to all amenities & beach.
Great location, quiet and safe. Parking lot horrible
There isn’t a lot of sun spots around the pool and the hotel didn’t clean the rooms each day. Overall an ok stay
Just book this resort
Our room was perfect for our 4 night stay, quiet, very clean and bedding and towels good quality. Our 2nd floor room overlooked one of the swimming pools so nice outlook. Short walk to the wharf, the main shopping/eating area and 4 mile beach. The receptionist was very friendly and polite. Would definitely stay here again.
We enjoyed our stay very much, there were a few minor issues, tv controller not working, light rheostat faulty. All fixed promptly. Staff were friendly and helpful. It was clean and very comfortable I would consider it again on our next visit.
Good sized accommodation, well laid out. Was a bit bare and less well appointed than other places we have stayed, but the bathroom was excellent and the outside area a great facility. Good supplies of towels and a comfy bed.
Lovely setting and location was excellent
Great location, easy walking distance to the main st, Lovely property, beautiful pool area. Unfortunately, we found a few things that showed the room wasn’t cleaned properly prior to our stay.
Quiet location. Easy accsess. Good pool & amenities. Clean. Friendly staff. Comfortable appartment & bed.
Its a nice hotel. The reception staff are very pleasant and helpful. The location is great. The larger rooms are nice. ( I hear the studio rooms are small). I think they need a light or something that distinguishes its location from the street as its concealed by foliage when you are driving. Also its not really a resort as there's no bar or restuarant.
Great little stay for a last minute getaway, place was spotlessly clean would highly recommenr
Excellent staff and location
Super accommodating staff who proactively reached out to offer a transfer from the airport. Also the property is very close to everything in Port Douglas. Convenient to have laundry access as well.
Loved our stay here. Be aware there is no bar or restaurant but it is in walking distance of the main strip. Loved the way they made it clear what to expect with the servicing of your room. Communication was excellent and reception staff were very friendly and knowledgeable
I enjoyed my stay here as it was close to every thing .
Stayed 5 nights at Shantara Resort. Only a 5 minute stroll to 4 mile beach & cafes. Walk into main part of town was 10 minutes. 2 pools, very quiet resort. Only downside was the aircon it blew straight onto the bed & couldn’t move the direction of air so when in the bed you were freezing.
Lovely staff
Overall very good
The Shantara is a nice, clean resort which is quiet and enjoyable. It is very close to shops without being to close to attract the surrounding noise.
Had a lovely stay at Shantara Resort and would visit again. We went in off-season so it was quiet and often got the pool to ourselves! The room was a great size, nice and cool and an excellent amount of storage space so you can actually unpack your toiletries and other knicknacks. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the resort is spotless. I recommend paying for the lower level room so you can walk straight into the pool, we were on level 1 and had FOMO for the lower rooms. The only negative for me was that the bed and pillows weren't that comfortable. Also, our stay did not include turndown service, you need to pay extra for that - if you have a long-ish stay, make sure you keep that in mind.
Such a lovely resort. Very quiet and our suite was lovely. We had the swim out and private jacuzzi suite and will definitely book again. Thank you for an awesome week!!!
Property was clean apart from the yellow stains and mould on the doona. Great adults only resort would be even better with a pool bar area. Communication was excellent especially since the cyclone hit and we were wondering if everything was ok. Watch out for the guy that cleans the pool area of a morning with the ear plugs in he is cranky!!
Great location - being able to walk into Main Street for dining options and close to the beach.
Studio room on 2nd floor with a view over the pool was the best. The room was nice size and amazing extras. Gardens were amazing. Liz was amazing and so helpful. Shortwalk into town to collect our bikes, which we could store in the basement. Due to the recent cyclone, Liz was great at keeping us well informed.
Shady business practices
Cyclone Jasper and massive flooding hit the Port Douglas and Cairns just before our arrival. The airport was closed and flooded, and the road connecting the airport to Port Douglas had been washed away. We heard nothing from the hotel, nor were they reachable by phone. After a statement from the government that residents should only use water for emergencies, decided it was irresponsible to try to go up. yet when we emailed to cancel- they were suddenly responsive, and quick to let us know that we'd get no refund. So even the resort had no running water- we were responsible for the full payment. I'm assuming that the complete lack of communication prior to check-in helped ensure that they help no liability for cancelations. We will return to Port Douglas- but most certainly not to Shantara.
As an adults only resort wonderfully quiet. Staff assistance booking trips etc was great. Would stay again.
Excellent adult only resort, quiet, friendly and ideal location to most shops and activities.
Very good lived up to expection
Great location only a short walk to restaurants, Shops and the Marina. Resort itself had great ammenities with very comfortable room we loved being able to step onto the patio and then dive straight into the pool.Staff were very friendly and helpful with all questions. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend.
Lovely, quiet , private resort. Very handy to town and the beach.
Great location, friendly staff. Pools are not very private, however they are quite nice.
Lovely pool areas, walking distance to everything. Liz extremely helpful. Interesting that not all Studio Rooms are the same size. Would have been perfect if did breakfast or had a bar area.
The place was beautiful and clean. Reception was polite. Unfortunately the room was really small and crowded. Too much furniture for the space. Eg a little dining table right in front of the door that goes out to the decking.
Nice & quiet. Easy walkable access to main precinct of Port Douglas
Shantara is a beautiful property, friendly, helpful staff, and being adults only during school holidays was good.
A short walk to restaurant’s and shops, a nice place for a get away
very small room and pool expensive for what it is
Great location , clean and good value
The resort was very quiet & peaceful, well maintained. We loved the heated pool & the fact we could walk everywhere.
Great location….friendly staff… only one small criticism… the pillows are very soft possible need to be replaced with new ones or have firm pillows available. Pool is great!
Fantastic spot, close to everything. No need for a car, walking distance to cafes, restaurants and pubs. Highly recommended if your looking for an Adult only resort… Will definitely return 😊
Nice quiet property to stay in. Close to everything as well. Rooms were clean and had everything you needed.
Don't get me wrong Shantara on the surface looks great , also close to town and shops restaurants, lovely massage faciliities (seperate ownership to resort)BUT they are not great at little things and some Major annoyances. Major, the site is next to a worksite with constant noise from labourers, this was never communicated to us. This will disappear once site is finished but bloody didn't help us.. Major, access to deck chairs (4) with afternoon sun was only avaiable by creeping around pool deck. Gate access locked. There is a pool on other side with only 4 available with sun during the day, another few at BBQ end. Major :paying good money my apartment was very small, shared deck big enough for only 1 sun chair for each apartment..This was advised Major SUN - NONE at all to my apartment all DAY Medium ; Again paying good money had to dispose of our own rubbish by walking 100 metres each BIN load down an elevator into a garage. Customer Care ; Snantara refused to provide single beds, my partner had just had major surgery and needed a sperate BED, answer was room was too small. no good enough. Cleaners : not their fault but they start at around 6.30 and noise travels Noise from apartment above, constant movement early and late of tavles and chairs above also easily hear people walking above.. Summary : Shantara has the makings of a good resort but I personally wont be going there again.
The staff were amazing. So friendly and Julie, at reception helped book or suggested great things to do and see. You can tell the Shantara is looked after meticulously. The gardens were so well kept and the facilities and pool area always clean. It definitely was quite. At first, a bit strange, as it is our first time travelling without children/teens. So close to everything. Just a short walk to dinning and shopping, or the beach. Thank you
Shantara was a awesome place to stay at. Close by to the main street and beach. Would stay again. Only thing missing there is a dining place to eat.
It was a great time
Close to Main Street and beach..
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return
Great location, quiet and clean, easy walk to everything
Very good condition--nice and quiet--close to shops and restaurants. Had no use for the nice robes but could could have used a shower cap.
Close to everything, relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff
Super chill
This place has a real chill vibe. Quite, comfortable, birdsong, breezes. Easy access to washing machines. Great restaurants within walking distance. I'd stay here again. Heck, I'd practically move to Port Douglas.
Great location!
Nice place felt uncomfortable sharing the lounges with next door. Not enogh storage. Other than that it was convenient to everything.
Beautiful setting, room very spacious and included full kitchen amenities. Lovely pools. Helpful and friendly staff. Great location, walking distance to everything but not on the main road so very quiet and peaceful.
It would of suited our needs better if there was dining facilities to cater for Breakfast etc, given that the tours start early it was difficult to arrange Breakfast. There is a toaster and microwave in the room.
My partner and I stayed at Shantara for 6 nights in April. The staff at the resort are lovely and very helpful/ friendly. They even gifted us a bottle of prosecco for my partner and i to celebrate as it was his birthday. The property is quiet, close to the beach and within walking distance of the main strip with lots of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants. The gym is small but was ok for use. The property does attract an older cohort which was fine as it was nice and quiet which we were lolking for. Our stay was perfect! The only thing i'd mention is that the rooms are very small for the cost and the property is a little dated. Otherwise we had a great time!
The whole environment at the Shantara is relaxed and easy. The staff are very friendly and the day spa is absolutely wonderful. The resort is a 10 min walk to the centre of Port Douglas. We hired a car and were very easily able to get in and out for day trips in the surrounding area.
Brilliant we Will be returning
conveniences, facilities,cleanliness,etc
Pools were great. Would have liked a bigger deck (17B).
LAZY WEEK
GREAT PLACE TO STAY , POOLS WERE GREAT,STAFF ALSO. IF YOU WANT A QUIET PLACE TO STAY, WITH EVERYTHING YOU WANT,THIS IS IT.
Brilliant. Rooms were in lovely condition, staff were friendly and helpful. We liked it so much we booked ahead for next year
It felt like home. Everything was clean and tidy
Fantastic resort, walking distance to everywhere. Thank you Julie for making us feel so welcome and the wonderful cleaning staff. Having a washing machine and dryer just outside our room was a huge bonus. We’ll definitely be returning for another stay.
Great pool. Good service.
The room.was amazing, cant fault the communication either. Was a great location, easy walk into town and easy walk to the beach Only downside was the pool didnt seem to be very clean, grime around the side, an no filter? Also the water feature wasnt working. There was abit of noise from the properties next door who are doing building work, overall i would totally recommend staying here
The room and shared spaces like the pool were always clean and tidy. We had a great time and will definitely be back, thank you!
Loved the child free resort and close proximity to the lovely beach and shopping. Would have loved sun lounges on the balcony and a coffee pod machine. Would definitely come back again
It was a beautiful place to stay very clean and friendly. Great location. Will definitely stay there again couldn’t have asked for any better.
Really nice stay. Well located in easy walking distance to everything, quiet, comfortable, all staff were friendly and helpful.
We have travelled to Port Douglas several times, this is the best place we have stayed at yet. Lovely & clean, beautiful pool, walkable distance to everything and friendly staff.
Customer service by reception was amazing! We look forward to visiting again soon.
The property itself from the outside was lovely so expectations of room were high ....but room was alot smaller than expected for price .The room itself was looking very tired especially the bathroom ...toilet flush ring kept popping off ..mouldy silicone in shower and around window ...sink very slow draining and outside light not working . pool was lovely and staff were friendly and warm. It was adult only but could have sworn there was children running around in room above us on sat night if it wasnt the occupants were very noisy .Overall a little disappointed expected so much more ..the price we paid was discounted but would have been extremely disappointed if we had paid the full price ..
Some staff members have been unfriendly. A few amenities are old or not up to the standard expectations based on their star rating. After hours service has been very poor.
Our new favourite !
Absolutely loved staying here. We had a one bedroom pool view apartment on level 2. Spacious and clean, you received a mid stay clean if staying for a week. No kids was a bonus, would try and stay in the non bbq section next time as the noise echos a bit. We will be back !
Nice quiet resort, close proximity to main st in port douglas.
Loved our stay there. Room was amazing and very relaxing with access to the pool. Staff very helpful and friendly. We’ll definitely be back.
Self contained apt walking dist to everything
Quiet location, comfortable bed and pillows, decent pool but not amazing (good enough though for a small dip or swim) small gym (just some cardio machines and light hand weight’s), helpful staff and has all the in room amenities you could ask for. For the price point it was great.
The lovely receptionist Liz, her hospitality was second to none. Liz made sure our stay was exceptional. Highly recommend
Fantastic.in all areas... Amazing staff and location
Beautiful apartment, great location - the pools were lovely - so nice and quiet!! Apartment was really spacious and well appointed. Gym was a little small, but still good gear. Really loved our stay here.\ Highly recommend it.
Staff were lovely and very helpful. Pool areas were very nice and the room was clean and well accommodated for when we arrived.
Colour coordination was perfect
The open air concept throughout the buildings main areas.. the two pools were great.. we stayed in a villa with a pool view everything was clean. overall would defiantly stay there again. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Great spot !
Beautiful spot. Loved this hotel. Very peaceful, comfortable and great location to the Main Street in Port Douglas. Some lovely restaurants all within walking distance. And the pools are divine. We also used the on-site BBQ’s one day for lunch which were great. There’s an array of bbq tools and oils too so you just need to turn up with whatever you want to cook. Overall a beautiful place. Would happily stay again. In fact we plan to do exactly that.
Staff were super friendly and helpful. Very peaceful, rooms were clean and comfortable.
the basement and the elevator was so hot. thank you
Really lovely apartment with great A/C for our very hot summer stay. Loved the pool and the reception was friendly and very efficient.
