The staff is just wonderful, i have come here many years and always look forward to come back.

Very welcoming hotel. Clean, spacious and wonderful staff. Food is good with plenty if choice for everyone. The gym is a bit dated but has enough equipment. Calm atmosphere all around.

Refurbished rooms are great!

The refurbished rooms are very well done. Spacious and thoughtfully designed. The club lounge had creative and tasty canapes and the wine selection was very pleasant. Thanks to Mr Eric at Bumbu for his kind hospitality. I generally felt very welcomed and attended to at Shangri-La Surabaya. Thank you.

The staff are excellent, the property is beautiful, the pool is very nice and there are 4 places to eat inside the hotel. The breakfast buffet is very nice with a wide variety of options. I would stay here again.

Great hotel near Ciputra World Surabaya

The hotel was great, the only complaint was that the pool was closed.

Nice stay for 1 night during covid pandemic. Must walk to outdoor parking area due to covid19 pandemic. Basement parking areas are closed.

Quiet clean lush garden with huge land and stand alone with much privacy. Good value for money. The Horizon lounge was a pleasant exclusive experience with good choice of food and beverages for breakfast, high tea and cocktails. Personnel very courteous and welcoming attitude. Lucky at front desk of horizon lounge made our stay at the hotel most memorable by addressing the issue with our bedsheets with a generous upgrade. Will definitely stay again at the Shangrila in Surabaya and other other locations. Excellent choice.

Woken at 6am

I use the Shangri-La group regularly on my travels but won't be using this one again. At 6am on the 2nd day of my stay I was woken by the extremely loud PA system of the mass exercise class organised by the hotel on it's tennis court. This continued for an hour during which time it was impossible to sleep if you were on the wrong side of the hotel. I complained several times to no avail, when I asked about this at reception they confirmed that this class took place several times a week. I will avoid in future.

Hotel has been very well renovated and is back to being world class. As with all Shanghai La hotels the design of the hotel from the lobby to the guest rooms gives you a great feeling from the minute you walk in the door.

Old products in need of upgrades

We book horizon club room, it’s smaller and very old style compared to other shangrila we stayed in. The club lounge breakfast option is less than the main restaurant. I think products upgrades is needed.

This place is 5 star. From the room to the pool to the restaurants. The price, in the $60 range, is quite a steal. I can't think of any negatives.

Swimming pool closed at 8:00PM which is too early！ Price is still too high.

Overall the stay was good and I will continue to stay. The closet door in my room would not shut all the way which left the light on all night in my room. Other than that, it was a pleasant experience.

Perfect for business travellers

After being stranded in Bali due to Airport closures, I decided to make the 14 hour trip from Denpasar to Surabaya. I notified the hotel in advance that I would be travelling with a one year old, would be arriving in the middle of the night and then leaving in the afternoon, straight to the Airport. Unfortunately the hotel is under renovation. We slept for a couple of hours before breakfast (which was a wonderful buffet breakfast) and then returned to our room. Once the business guests had departed for work, the construction noise within the hotel began and continued for the remainder of our stay, meaning that we were unable to rest prior to continuing our 16 hour journey back to Sydney via Singapore. Over all the hotel is good, but if you are travelling with you children I suggest you avoid this hotel until the construction works are completed. If the hotel had advised us of the situation in advance there wouldn't have been a problem and would could have spent our 5 star money else where.

- Had a burger at the cafe that tasted like it was from McDonald's. - Upon checking into my room, I found very distracting renovation noise coming from the room above. - Mini bar was empty - Shower drain was clogged. - When leaving, the bell boys all stood by the side playing with their phones while guests were loading their luggage onto cars.

Great hotel, one of my favorites. It is getting a little tired but is very clean, service is great and so are the restaurants.

Should have been renovated years ago. Also doubtful about their level of cleanliness when there was a pair of used slippers by the bedside when we arrived

The hotels rate can no longer follow the standard of the hotel. It used to be the best hotel in Surabaya, but time is running out for th eold Shangri-La, which needs to reinvent itself - otherwise the new hotels in city center will take over soon, they actually already are!

Just Okay

We always stay at this hotel each time visiting Surabaya because of this convenient location. The lounge are spacious however I can't stand the smoking guest in the airconditioning room, they should just ban it. The hotel bedroom is getting tired, you need to replace with new carpet & refresh the manchester. The window glass need to be cleaned, aircond need servicing - bit noisy. Room for the hotel Manager to improve. Overall stay - just okay.

Weekend Getaway

Though the hotel looks dated and some parts are in a need of a renovation, the service provided by the great staff more than made up for it. If you are looking for a place to chill, read, relax and be pampered, the shangrila is perfect. Though the rooms can get quite noisy as the walls are a bit thin. One suggestion for the hotel is to put the families together and the people without families together. as it could get quite noisy in the mornings when the kids were up. But overall, a lovely place.

I've stayed here many times over the years, mostly for business but this time for pleasure. The decor is a bit dated but the amenities, service, and food are excellent. We used the concierge to book internal flights, and they were pleasant, helpful and efficient. The main restaurant is very popular with the local people at weekends,

People are freindly, yest it is an older hotel , however it has been maintained well. Beds are comfortable.
