Great service manner, one of the more senior staff even remembered me after 7 years. I was upgraded as well. The facilities had seen it’s glory days, but the location and surroundings more than make up for it. One of the most important thing to me is the ease of getting around, the hotel is close to metro station in either direction ? That, I love
Great location on Nanjing Road with plenty of access to shopping and restaurants. Hotel is old and elevator broke down having to take the stairs from the 16th floor to the 7th. House keeping did come and help with luggage but was not ideal situation at all. Also had hairs on the bed and bathroom that was not mine. Was only staying in Shanghai one night so did not say anything since was only transitioning through.
It was very good👍
Location excellent. Money worth.
The location is very strategic for night life , shopping and near in so many attractions but the building is dilapidated, needs to be improved . I was given a room with terrace but looks so scary and it seems the curtain were not washed for a long time . The elevator doesn’t start at the ground floor so it very inconvenient since the reception is on the 7th floor . lobby is not pleasing . it i
It is a stay for that.
The restuarant was just ok, a lot of the dishes on the menu were unavailable . The noodles were good but the coffee was just average. The location is good . THe wallpaper is very pretty. The view from the window is good. The safe did not work. There was no battery in it. We got a family room, the small living room was nice. the wifi was average, not slow but not high speed either. The man and woman at the front desk are very professional and nice.
best deal
nice upgrade good coffee... nice room
nice place
wifi was good. breakfast was good the workers were nice. AC workes well and anemities were good. very nice stay
Dissapointing stay
Given wrong rooms Breakfast lady ( tall n slim ) very rude and unhelpful Showing fruits on pictures but was actually plastic on buffet table!! Great location with Hop on hop off stop right in front of hotel
MR .
The location was perfect , The only issue I had was with house keeping, the bathroom had mould around the bath area.
Just perfect
Perfect stay in a lovely hotel in a great location. Handy to everything
Place is real nice, super update, except King bed smaller than expected.
Family Bonding
My experience in this hotel is good, but the elevator is so slow and the hotel is old enough, but a little bit far from Metro rail
Value
Good value for money and the breakfast was more than enough. The coffee was excellent!
Central location is good but the hotel is very old and shabby. Free breakfast was tiny and just strange. Being on a business trip the biggest problem for me was the almost non- existent Wi-Fi. Even the direct connected Ethernet was very slow. I think if you are on holiday you would enjoy a more modern hotel a lot more.
Central spot in Shanghai
It was located Centrally on the Nanjing Rd and in a busy area, had a good stay. Had a lot of choices of bars, restaurants, and shopping stores.
Nothing special................. . . .......
The rooms need upgrading -- very old worn out furniture & curtain -- old bathtub -- shower not in good state -- toilet not flushing properly -- Room not properly cleaned -- Hotel rating is less than a 2-star
Good location and friendly staffs
Old but nice hotel at the center of Shanghai.
Best location, in the heart of downtown Shanghai. Old hotel with its own story and history. Very friendly staff.
Very conveniently located along Nanjing Road. Breakfast still has room for improvement.
Hotel in Shanghai
Good location. Room is ok, not so clean. Difficult to communicate with staff, very limited English speaking.
I liked the location. The breakfast was mediocre. The room even though it was small, but the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom excellent. Jeff at the reception area was very nice and helpful, another lady I did not get her name, was very helpful, the rest did not have a nice attitude nor did they knew even a bit of English.
Great location and safe. Beds comfortable and nice clean room
Excellent place to explore Shanghai from
This is an elderly hotel that is aging well. It has an excellent location in the middle of the Nanjing Pedestrian Walking Street and is located close to 4 different subway lines, the Bund, and other cool spots. Several food courts are nearby as are tons of shops and entertainment. Bfast is included and serves a small buffet with a plate of eggs and such, which is a decent way to start your day. Wifi is mediocre and a pain to set up (repeatedly) and of course all google/facebook/etc. apps are blocked in China. There is a money exchange machine down the street beside the Huawei store.
Good hotel in a great location
The room was small (as is common in Shanghai) but comfortable, and the location was excellent - right in the middle of everything. There was no problem with a language barrier.
Good location…decent breakfast! Room was too cold, no heat!!
A very conveniently located hotel .
Stayed there for 2 nights . Location is absolutely fantastic . Metro from airport with a stop very close to the hotel which is just a 5 minute walk . Front Desk staff were polite and helpful . Room is not big but clean . Breakfast included can improve but not too bad
Old hotel but location is good. It is along Nanjing street. The hop on hop off bus is right in front of the hotel. There is a small train ticket booth at side of the building making it convenient to book train tickets. Metro station is about 200 metres walking distance.
Well located Hotel with Excellent Restaurant
The hotel housekeeping service is excellent, and so is the Shanghainese food served at its 7th floor restaurant. I had four dinners at that restaurant during my 5-night stay. You have to try their cold dishes, braised eel, Crocker fish, and soup (sea cucumber, fish belly, and abalone) among others. I will return for more. The restaurant serves a good variety of beers and spirits, import and local. The hotel has a colorful history reflected by its ornate furnishing. I highly recommend this hotel if you enjoy Shanghainese food, night-life, and ease of travel to-and-from Pudong International Airport, and to nearby attractions.
Location, location, location. Systems in good working condition (not always a given in Shanghai). People, especially the floor manager on our floor, very helpful and friendly.
Great location
The location was great as it’s place is just the middle of center area and 10min to the bund. Cleanliness is so so good except a chair in room has a stain with bad smell so I requested to take it out.
It was good.
It was a great location on Nanjing Rd. E. About a 5 minute walk to the People's Square metro station. The room was very clean - no complaints there. Comfy twin mattress. I heard the music coming up from around the seventh floor and I actually found it quite soothing. Good free breakfast. I think the climate control screen on the wall was just a prop.
Terrible noisy in the night.
It was very noisy every night. We couldn't sleep untill 2 a.m. at night. We thought there were some people in the street having a party every night. Only at our check out we have found out that they had very noisy performances at the hotel's restaurant every night. The artists and the music played very very loud in the restaurant and it was heard as if they were at few meters from us. It was terrible. The hotel has got very old furniture and the bath shower is very old fashioned - fixed on the wall, which is terrible, mostly for the women.
good experience
Great location hotel i's average but the location is great right in the heart of the Nanjing pedestrian street
really tough hotel, very very old, no air conditioning
Very Covenient Hotel, Heart of the City
We Enjoyed our Stay as it is very convenient. Room was very small. Breakfast is average thus can be improved. Overall very convenient hotel. Yes, We enjoyed. J. Rex Perera Los Angels, California USA Rex@CalCentury.com
Hotel needs a bit of a rehab though everything works and location is great.
Good
Good
Great location. Goodvalue for location.
Really old hotel. Breakfast was not great. Staff did not speak much English. Excellent location
Run down room. Mound on shower curtain (which they replace after I complained). Wall paper peeling off, wooden door and window frames coming in stuck. Bathroom sink drained very slowly so there was a pool of spat out thooth paste for 5 minuets. Very basic breakfast, eggs and bacon/sausage often cold. Once I came to breakfast right on the cut off time and the staff made a big song and dance about it. Then when my partner came down they made him go back upstairs for his voucher, even though we’d been having breakfast there for the past 3 days. Someone else came to breakfast late and they wouldn’t even give him a cup of coffee. Also when coming in late one night a lady offered us a “massage” she got in the elevator with us and got out on the shop floor. Did she work there? Very odd. The only good thing I can say about the place I see the location.
Nice location
The location was fantastic. Give the good price, this hotel is great for a short stay and having fun in Shanghai.
Location. What for?
Room was too small and awkward shape. The bathroom was nightmare full of water each shower. Never going bacj.
Nice hotel in the best location on Shanghai! Love
Very convenient and beautiful place for tourists staying in the Shanghai city!
Great location and very friendly helpful staff
Will definately stay here again. Very friendly and accommodating staff
Breakfast service ladies are rude, no smile
The hotel is located at the prime area of shanghai, walking distance to major site. City tour bus stop at hotel, subway 2 line take you from airport or high speed railway right to hotel. It is convenient. The breakfast service ladies were not friendly no smile. Feel like they had a bad days. I saw a lady asked for coffee spoon. The service lady was very impatient to help her. We were sitting for ordering breakfast, they lady was so rude in taking order and very rush although there were not too many people in the dining. There is only one elevator go from floor 7 up. We was waiting for long time to get on the elevator. It is always crowded when everyone try to get in or out.
Clean, courteous staff. Breakfast thrown in is a bonus. Very central, 15 min walk to the Bund
You stay for the location
This hotel is fine if you're not fussy. The location can't beat as it is right on E Nanjing Rd and is halfway between the People's Square metro stop and the Nanjing metro stop. Easy walking distance to the Bund. Elevator is excruciatingly slow. The rooms need a refurb. Our shower curtain had mildew on it and there was mold/mildew in other spots of the shower. The floor boards in our room were warped and/or coming loose. The beds were comfortable enough and so between that and the location and price I would stay here again.
Good value
The location of this hotel is very convenient, as it is on Nanjing Pedestrian Road and along Subway Line 2. Very easy to walk or take subway to destinations. The hotel facility is a bit old and worn but it was clean and the customer service was good. The front desk actually knew some English which made the check in process pretty smooth. Really good value, hotel was such a reasonable price!
A good value for a hotel in the center of Shanghai
It is a hotel right in the heart of Shanghai, it is convenient, close to subway stations, there are lots of shopping and food(I mean every kind of food). It is an older hotel and you can see it had it’s glory days.
Comfortable and affordable hotel
I stayed here for a few nights and it was a perfectly nice place. The people at the front desk spoke some English and were very helpful. The mattress was a bit hard, but the room was nice and clean overall, and the breakfast wasn't bad. Nice convenient location. I would definitely consider coming back!
In the Heart of People's Square
This hotel was the perfect location for our group of 30 travelers ranging in age from 5 to 70. Everyone had plenty of options whether just hanging out and shopping or walking to The Bund and enjoying the waterway. There's also a double decker bus stop right outside the hotel which is greater to use to explore more of the sights and sound of Shanghai. The rooms were spacious. We had both the deluxe and superior twin bed rooms. The beds are larger than an American twin bed but not quite the size of a full size bed. We also had two family rooms that were very nice and spacious as well. The breakfast buffet is basic but good. There are two American and two Chinese breakfast plate option that all include eggs, potato cakes and a couple of pieces of broccoli. To enter the hotel you must climb about 10 steps which becomes difficult with multiple bags of luggage and there's not hotel staff to help.
Great hotel at great location
This hotel is located at the heart of shanghai, very convenience in commute, reasonable price and very clean room
The location is excellelnt. The room is big however., no airconditioner is allowed during the time of the year I visited. Customer should be allowed to regulate on what temperture they want in their room. The receptionist is rather rude. Not very helpful at all. Does not even smile.
Great Location
The location is amazing. The room was clean. Service was okay. Not everybody spoke English but the staff always found someone for me when I had a question. I’d stay here again.
conveniently located, older hotel
Very easy hotel to find, about a 5 to 10 minute walk from the People's Square Line 2 Metro stop. Check in is on the 7th floor. The room and its furnishings were older, but comfortable. I was doing a quick overnight layover in Shanghai and this hotel served that purpose. Wifi was a bit slow, breakfast was adequate. Staff was friendly.
The only positive is location
Never again. The temperature in the room was 13 C and the heating system was not working. Rude and helpless staff
Great location and value
Great location. Very clean, easy check in, decent breakfast and worth the money. During our next trip to Shanghai, we will stay here again.
Great location if you like it busy
In the middle of East Ninjang St, a very busy pedestrian street. Surrounded by shopping venues and restaurants. Nice room on floor with 4 rooms per floor. Not a new hotel but comfortable. Would stay again if in Shanghai.
Good experience
This place is in a great location. With major shops and malls across the road. As well as convienience stores too. It’s easy to take a cab also. The staff speak good English and are friendly. The hotel is old but everything is clean and in decent condition. It’s my second time staying and I am happy with it.
Good location.
I reach hotel around 9 am and can do early check in due to room is available. Hotel is locate near train station and also not far from the bund.
Great location, in the main walking and shopping street. Near many touristic places. Easy access to metro and bus. Very friendly and helpfull staff. They accepted the deposit in US dollar as well. Breakfast is good, had western style breakfast in the menu. Nice city view from the room. Clean room but the shower tap was leaking and the shower curtain should be replaced with new one.
Good location but service level is low
The only positive thing of this hotel is the location. It's right on Nanjing Road. Other than that, many things need improvement. The room's ventilator/raditor is extremely loud. The receptionist is quite unfriendly. Breakfast started at 7am, which was quite late and I couldn't have it. The corridor had funny smell.
Not very comfortable and not very friendly staff Beds were hard ,
Location Location Location
one night only. excellent location
Traveler for two weeks
The free breakfast is great, but after staying for two weeks, anyone will be tired of the same selections.
very convenient location to subway station.
The hotel is located at east Nan Jin Lu and closes to #2 train station, which goes directly to Pu Dong Airport and many other interest points. room is old traditional and reasonable clean.
Great Stay
The counter staff was kind enough to help me pay my tickets upgrade with his personal WeChat account. I am thankful.
Family trip
Good location and friendly staff. You can find a better hotel but you have to pay more. I stayed at this hotel 2 years ago and I stayed again. Breakfast is not even worth to try. It is Shanghai. Food is everything. We went to a dim sum place nearby.
Great location
The hotel was very good, breakfast was also good. Nice personel. The best thing was the location of the hotel.
Location is fantastic. Breakfast is horrific they should sack the chef who cooked the tasteless hard noodles, overcooked hard (looked like leftovers from days ago)beacon and hashbrowns. Housekeeping staff is quick and responsive when we told them there was only 1 bath towel.
I love the 7th Heaven!!!
I'm not sure what every one else has for their criteria, but we loved the 7th Heaven Hotel. The location was un-beatable. The staff were helpful and kind. The room was wonderful ,and free breakfast is....free breakfast. We approve. We view of the Chi-Gong out the window was inspiring. We love this place, and would stay again, without question, if ever back in Shanghai. Thank you so very much!!
main reason ..... heart of city
so, so..... just for 1/2 days stay. for shopping, ..........................
Excellent location.
Staff were helpful and English was spoken by most of the staff
Rotten Egg in breakfast
horrible breakfast, they served bad rotten egg and to conceal smell added disinfectant on it, very visible and clear smell, I let it smell and see it by attendent, to no response.and didnt even ask me another plate.
Great location
This hotel is a bit dated and the staff spoke minimal English however the location is perfect, restaurants, bars & shops all on the doorstep.
lovely stay, definitely would stay again.
It was a lovely trip, amazing location. as a group of three it is always a trouble to find 1 room for 3 beds. every time we done this, another hotel has just had two twin beds for three people. this time at this hotel there was a extra bed already and three breakfast instead of two. so happy that they actually thought about this. thank you!. the only thing was there was very little toliettries and was not very useful.
The hotel sides on the budget end. It's location is brilliant as it is fairly central and lies on line 2 of the metro. Highly rated for location. Shops and restaurants.
Nice hotel convenient in Shanghai
Nice hotel, old, but convenient in Shanghai. The room we stayed at 7th floor heard a bit entertainment noise (possibly from a Karaoke room below or above) deep into midnight
very nice location, close to nanjing road.
Overall, it is a good place to stay if you only stay for one or two nights. The bed is not too comfortable, but the location is perfect if you want to walk around and plenty of food choices on NanJing road.
breakfast was not so good
Room only has heater not aircon. The hotel was set to 26C & when asked to turn it down, was told no can do! Also the breakfast was ok. You also receive 2 slices of bread, one butter & blueberry jam. When asked, could we have an extra slice, we were told NO.
Great location
Fantastic location, nice room. Breakfast was basic, but overall great value considering the location
old but OK
It's old but has a remarkable history. Convenient location, next to other hotels and shops. Within 7 or 8 minutes walk from mass transit railway (subway/underground) station. Has a good restaurant for Shanghai food. The top bed sheet is dirty but obviously the one who put it on the bed had not looked at it. Some dirty things cannot be removed simply by machine washing. No one would use a dirty bed sheet with notice. It was changed after complaint. Includes breakfast and the food is reasonably good and sufficient.Shower partly blocked. A dust ball conspicuously on the toilet floor was not removed and on the third day I could not stand it and put it in the trash bin myself. Edges of shower glass and tiles near the floor are somewhat dark (presumably mould). Should use mould remover to clean, just several minutes' work. Bathroom is otherwise clean.
Good location
Location is very good, easily accessible to both Nanjing East and People's Square stations. Good shopping district. Though the hotel is located in an old building but the interior of the room looked welcoming! Will be back here if I travel to Shanghai again. However, the cleanliness of the toilet can be better.
this hotel was more like a two star. Lobby and restaurant were nice and front desk were courteous. Rooms were clean but had peeling wallpaper and window was old and dirty. Was hard to figure out where the lobby was because we had to take an elevator to the 7th floor to get to it. Hotel was right on the pedestrian walkway at the bund - great location.
Perfect location
Nothing good: not-client oriented staff, smell in the corridor & room, terrible breakfast, NO INTERNET in the room.
Right on Nanjing Street in the centre of Shanghai
Right in the centre of the city you can walk out right onto Nanjing Street. Surprisingly good location for the cost. I had a free room upgrade and the room was quiet and comfortable. Included free containers of cold water in the room and breakfast was also included. This was quite a substantial breakfast compared to some hotels with eggs and bacon, as well as cereal, bread and jam and fruit. Staff were not overly enthusiastic but were OK. I travelled from the airport to the hotel by subway and then walked up Nanjing Street to the hotel. I had looked at Google Maps for the location and what surrounding landmarks would look like so I found the hotel easily enough. You just need to go up in the lift on the outside of the building to the 7th floor for reception (this is a bit tricky if you don't know as there is a department store on the ground floor which can be confusing). Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would go there again with such a good location.
Great location, poor rooms
disappointed with this stay, toilet door cannot be locked, and when informed front office about this, they had tried to call their 'maintenance' personal. but when we came back to our room at night, it wasn't fixed, when we asked the housekeeping lady, she mentioned that a lot of rooms toilet doors are broken. the shower was HORRIBLE, you cannot adjust the hot/cold water, a little to the left, and the water is Very hot, and a little to the right, it becomes very cold. definitely wont be choosing this hotel again
Adequate
The hotel is ok. long queues for the lift. horrible cold breakfast. hot water for tea only.staff lack good English but great location
TRAVEL EASY IN SHANG AT 7TH HEAVEN
Best plus factor was location at its low price. No need to get bigger more expensive hotel. Walking distance to the Bund, subway stations and lots of eating places. Breakfast food was simple but filling. Room was big enough with english tv, free jug of water, cleaned everyday. Wifi gets weak ar times. Service was acceptable. Lobby guys helpful enough could speak english. U could stay late outside East Nanjing St. Then walk safely easily back to the hotel. Not crowded in restaurant and lobby. They also require a 300 yuan deposit upon check in. Would use Seventh Heaven again if i go back to Shanghai! Thanks.
Super good location, hotel located in city centre, just next to nanjing car-free zone road (easy shopping, public transportation, eating). Around 5 mins to people square metro station which has line 1, 2 and 8. Also around 5 mins to east nanjing road metro station which has line 2 and 10. Line 2 can easy arrive pudong international airport, hongqiao airport, hongqiao rail station and longyang road (for maglev train). Cleanliness is acceptable. Bed and floor are clean, stuff are tidy, but wall paper is quite old (mottled peeling), edge of bathtub etc are slightly moldy. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Overall, it is good experience to stay at this hotel.

It's a decent hotel. It's in the people square center, and within 5 mins walk to the train station. It's very convenient. Breakfast was ok in the hotel. I would give this hotel 3.5/5 if I could. I would stay here if I visit this area again.
The heart of shopping at your fingertips
The building is old and the rooms are small but it adds character. You are in the heart of shopping on eat nanjing road and how long do you really plan to stay in your room anyway? The staff speak English and are very nice.
Nice hotel close to many shopping malls & eateries
The hotel room is comfortable and clean with good air conditioning system. It is about 10 mins walking distance away from the nearest metro station which has some big shopping complexes, eateries and places of interest nearby. The toilet facilities is sufficient although it can be improved further. The bed is cozy and the tidying room service is performed daily. However it can be very crowded when walking to and fro the hotel during peak hours
good location

Right on Naking pedestrian walk with pretty of restaurants and shops. Room is spaceous. Needs more thorough cleaning of bathroom grouts and minor repairs throughout the place. Beware that there are about ten steps at the hotel entrance, avoid staying here if your are disabled, difficult walking or have heavy luggage’s
