Great place
Great location.
service is par yet you pay high price
good location
Overall poor value. Convenient location. No hot water sometime. Jacuzzi water is rusty. Pool is murky and unusable. Beach club next door is loud past 1am. Beach towels were unavailable at times. Would not recommend this place.
All sand property which is fine - however no one to assist with luggage - literally had to drag thru sand and up two flights of stairs! The location we were at for 4 nights before Selina in Tulum had a gentleman that used a wheelbarrow to assist with luggage - it was perfect. 2nd NO TOWELS! No beach towels, no hand towels-nothing! Gal at front desk said “I will bring in 10 minutes” - NOPE! No towels or gal came.
Its a really nice place just need a lit maintenance
Very beautiful place to enjoy your vacation
I stayed at Selina 2 years ago and I had a great experience and that's why I decided to go back there again. However, my last experience wasn't that great. The property had an issue in the past and they are in a process of remodeling a lot of things and because of that, they are very limited. They arent offerening the nightlife, food service such as lunch and dinner and the falicity doesn't look as pretty anymore. I will recovering looking for anothe place to stay next time I go to Tulum.
Very friendly staff, especially at reception and in the restaurant. I highly recommend it, extremely comfortable room and an incredible view.
Everything about our stay was excellent except for one thing… There’s a super loud beach club on the property that blasts pumping music you can actually feel from 11 AM to 11 PM every day and night . . Total kills the vibe . . You can walk down the entire beach in Tulum and there is no place louder than the speakers at this beach club . . Total trash
Avoid this hotel, shooting occurs, 2 dead
We stayed in Selina Tulum between the 9/02 to 14/02. This trip was a family trip, my wife and I and our two young kids. We especially booked this hotel for the swimming pool. On our first day, Friday 9/02 a shooting occurs on the beach club of the hotel in front of us. 2 peoples were killed around 6.30pm local time. While I understand that this incident is choking for everyone including the staff, I would have expected a bit more help and attention from the staff. The staff almost acted like it was not a big deal, and gave us no instructions, no alert and no help to people. The next day everyone working from the hotel acted like nothing happened. The swimming pool and a large part of the resort was closed for the rest of our stay. When we asked why to the staff, they just answered that it was a police order and did not gave us any information on the shooting. I have asked several times to speak with a manager without any results. When such an incident occurs, I would expect the staff, the manager to inform the client, to communicate and reassure people instead of hiding the true and being absent. This behaviour is totally unacceptable. Because of that we were pretty scared for the rest of our stay especially given that we were travelling with 2 young kids.
So lovely! I’m trying to figure out how I can get back there soon. So peaceful and beautiful
This place was amazing. I had my own TP room and it was perfect for me. It was right near the beach and such a treat to open the door and see the ocean in the morning. The restaurant had great food and the pool and beachfront were amazing too! They even had a dj and dancers on the beach to enhance that vacay vibe. I felt very safe staying here also, staff was great and location was perfect, walkable to restaurants, shops. Very easy to navigate!
Rundown junky hotel
Selina is a run down, terrible place to stay in Tulum. I’ve been here many times and wouldn’t recommend staying here to anyone. We had 2 rooms and both were old, the plumbing didn’t work, there was no hot water, there were red ants inside the room, they give you 2 towels that are old, no staff cared to do anything about any of the issues. The beach club was terrible, the food is mediocre, the drinks are all over $18US. Avoid at all cost!
Great location, rooms are spacious, if you are looking for rest and relaxing I don’t think this is the place, the beach club makes it complicated, also this a no kids hotel
Overpriced. 1/2nights max if you are a party goer.
Good for 1/2 nights if you are a party goer. Impossible to sleep before 2am. After a couple of days partying, the non-stop tecno music can be annoying. Overpriced. We didn't have room cleaning during our stay. Location is good.
I got a room upgrade. Everything was perfect. Will definitely come back and stay at Selina Tulum.
I recently visited Tulum, a place I used to adore, but last few times, my experience was bittersweet. On the positive side, the property’s location is undoubtedly its strongest asset. Nestled in a prime spot, it offers the convenience of having everything within walking distance. This aspect of my stay was genuinely enjoyable, as I could easily explore the area on foot. However, there were several downsides that marred my experience. One significant drawback is the high pricing, which I found to be excessive compared to the value offered. Additionally, the minimum spending requirement imposed on hotel guests at the beach was a disappointing. Another issue that impacted my stay negatively was the constant hassle from drug dealers, beach vendors and beach bar staff for the tip. Their persistent presence and approach were bothersome and intrusive, making it challenging to relax and enjoy the beach’s natural beauty. Reflecting on this visit, I can’t help but feel that Tulum has lost some of its charm due to a growing emphasis on profit over guest experience. It serves as a cautionary tale of how commercialization can detract from the allure of a tourist destination. While the location remains a significant draw, the overall experience left much to be desired.
Nice
Te cobran por prestarte una toalla para ir a la playa (ademas de un depósito) el A/C de nuestro cuarto era solo ventilador no A/C
Right on Tulum beach , great staff and ac and WiFi , highly recommended
Workers extremely welcoming, helped a lot with all our bags. Waiters were very friendly. The rooms were great, beach was kept clean. The only thing is music will keep you up until 1am/1:30.. there is a club playing techno there. I loved this place!
Everything is good
Nice property some room are big and some are very small
Nice weather but not the beach.
Beach is bellow satisfactory and the picture is misleading. The location is nice but very secluded, and far from to the nearest hospital.
If you want a party-vibe, this is the place for you. The music is so loud all day and into the night (1am usually) that there’s no day napping nor a good night sleep! I’ve been home for 2 days and can still here bass insa-insa-insa. It’s NOT the place if you want to relax and catch up on sleep.
I stayed here for 5 days, everything was good except the people working in the front desk. They act like they dont want to help you and were very rude ( Roberto & Esther) The following day I went again to the office because i had an issue with my room and Karina was very helpful. Also Marcial from Mia resuartant was very nice. I don't think i would stay here again.
Selina Tulum is so beautiful! The amenities they provide guests far exceeded my expectations. And the staff is so friendly!
I loved my stay at Selina Tulúm. The price was great for what it offers. I got the loft style room with ocean views it was perfect. The only thing I didn’t like was the bed it was too hard for me. And I wish the jetted tub would have had hot water also. Besides that the property was really nice. Staff was great also. With free breakfast included with the room pricing at Mia restaurant. I would definitely stay at Selina Tulúm again.
Lovely location and beautiful property grounds. Room was nice but the tub needs a major upgrade. It’s scuffed, looks dirty and was installed on an angle so when you shower water would drip down on the floor. As per website, hotels looks like a serene yoga spot but it’s near a beach club so tons of noise. Also towel service was awful. However, front desk rectified issues immediately. Power went out as well causing doors to be completely unsecured. There was no other alternative to keep your door locked as it is controlled via a swipe bracelet. Major security risk especially for female travellers. Restaurant was good. Food excellent although expensive but that’s to be expected. Breakfast was included and was quite delicious. Not sure why other reviews criticize the food. I wouldn’t stay here again unless they fix the bathrooms and secure rooms better in case of power outage.
The experience was average. The hotel has a good location but that is probably the only positive part of the hotel. The front desk staff was not friendly or helpful. I didn’t complain or make my underwhelming experience a big deal so that we could try to enjoy our stay the best we could. We were happy to check out. We will not be returning.
My room was very dirty and the shower especially , the rooms are very old they are not what they look like in pictures. The breakfast is not good it was cold and not a good taste. They charge $70 pesos for eggs .. its breakfast included I shouldn’t have to pay
Amazingly Pretty
During check-in they said that i had only put in my infirmation but not paid. I told them that i had already paid through the app. Later they checked and said just the tax was to be paid, which was ok. I'm not a party person, yet loved the place! Entire hotel/hostel premise is so pretty with the private beach to feel safe all the time, everyone being so so helpful and being treated like VIP at the bar/restaurant, Mia. There was party until late night at Mia one of the nights with the sound coming inside the dorm but being tired i still slept. All the other girls were out till late night at the party and made some noise in the room. Some got their smoking arrangements which i was surprised at (but smoked outside) and some had drinks in their bags. Only 1 bathroom for all 10 girls in the dorm, so can get a bit tricky if you wanna use during peak hours when everybody wants to be ready or back from swimming/tours. Bathtub was not as clean on my first night but i found it clean the next day as well as bed done everyday! Breakfast added was very good!
RUDE STAFF
Terrible. Toilet’s don’t work. Loud music all night near rooms. Their food or ice made me sick for days.
O
If i could give a 10 to this hotel i would. Everything was perfect, clean, they were very nice and it included brekfast. The teepee experience was amazing.
Overall, the stay was great.. the staff was awesome, very friendly and helpful. Service was impeccable and the location of the property along with the entertainment was a 10/10. I’ll definitely be staying here again.
Is beautiful place. Comfort and friendly, They offer you everything, everything. not good for kids. And I recommend to those who are looking for fun and that they offer you.
excellent service
The Selina Tulum property is very unique and a good balance of Tulum art with some expected modern conveniences. Note that because of the remote beach bungalow look and feel, you will have some inconveniences but overall the staff and ocean location made it unforgettable. The most noticeable is the loud music from the club, but overall, the club makes the hotel have a very fun atmosphere (so it’s a blessing and a curse) The staff at the front desk was extremely helpful. Paola at the Mia Restaurant was the most hospitable and made our stay special as she is such a warm person. The restaurant has a wonderful breakfast that is ambiguous on the low service charge per person, but we still thought it was fine for getting pretty great food every morning. They have a great security team, cabs are right out front, we got to the grocery store in town for 25 bucks each way. The minimart right outside the hotel has water bottles. I highly recommend stocking up on water bottles there as water bottle prices vary widely and can be up to 12-15 dollars at the restaurant. The bed was extremely comfortable, AC worked great, cleaning staff came every day and replaced our towels and sheets. It is seaweed season but also low season when we visited in May. The seaweed does make it hard to get in the water but they constantly are raking and removing it. Having it be less crowded was a better trade off for us. The food options in and around the property are amazing.
Likes.. the new remodeled restaurant/bar area. I did not received my perks for the VIP room stay :/
The location was beautiful. Surrounded by restaurants, stores, beach clubs, and etc. All Staff were very friendly and kind.
That hotel is overpriced
Nice place to vacation!
Selina was the highlight of our stay in Tulum. The beach was great, the parties were amazing and the restaurant had good food.
Great location, service at the restaurant is incredibly slow. My girlfriend arrived at 10:00am for the included breakfast and wasnt served within 30 minutes and they did not permit her complementary breakfast because of their tardiness. The staff in general has to be begged for service or to close tabs over and over.
IF you are ready to party
Definitely a bait and switch
Definitely a bait and switch, they don’t tell you this but the bathrooms are shared bathrooms and they are horrible and disgusting and nasty, there is loud music all day long and there’s no peace at this place definitely do not stay here is an absolute nightmare
Smelled around our area & we were treated pretty poorly after being told to stay in room at extra charge but was not communicated if we should leave room effectively
FUN HOTEL. WOULD STAY AGAIN
Overall enjoyed the property, the location, amenities and service. I will say in tulum breakfast ending at 11am was a challenge. 12PM would allow the visitors to not rush each morning to be able to eat. the last night we did not receive towels or room service. When we first arrived our room only had 1 towel and no hand towels. Definitely recommend staying in the buildings away from the DJ outside and inside in case you want to go to bed early. We were in B1 and could still hear it with airpods in. Also 1 night we went to bed early and there just happened to be a wedding and loud mexican very upbeat music playing. Lastly the power would go on and off sometimes and our phones didnt charge. The beach club was nice, staff was super attentive some days and others was ok. There are multiple menus available but somehow i kept receviing the same options. Property is pretty though and the location is great. I would stay there again. This hotel is great for having good vibes music and a party on site. If you want a more serene settting i would select another hotel. Definitely get one of the massages by the beach, super relaxing part they have at Selina .
The property is in a key location of the beach. The area food wise begins at $20 per meal. The property is cleaned daily with towel refreshers. The free beach chairs are further down the beach and they charge for the loungers and cabanas. The rinse areas outside of every sleeping quarter is cool so that you don’t track sand inside. There’s a cool outdoor pool. The parties are loud just ask not to be placed near the club or bring earplugs. Breakfast is free and it’s a full meal of eggs bacon fruit bread coffee and orange juice. Yoga is it free but it’s awesome. Wifi is good but if you need it for work you’re better off using it in the common area. The shared sleeping quarters have lockers in the room and dressers under the bed as well as lock boxes near your bed. You’ll have to bring your own lock. Most rooms have stairs and a patio and each bed gets a black out curtain. It’s very picturesque and awesome. Staff are very kind and helpful. Pizza garden has the best tasting and most reasonably priced dinner options which are pizza or pasta.
They didn’t change our towels for 5 days!!! Even tho we kept asking for them everyday!
We stayed at the Selina hotel for 8 nights. We really enjoyed our stayed, we couldn’t have picked a better hotel to for our stay at the beach. The vibe is great and staff is friendly. The Mia beach club is really nice, we attended two really good parties during our stay.
Great stay ! Thank you
Amazing amazing
The hotel is in a party zone If you are looking for a quite place it’s not for you. Music plays until 1am on Friday night And around 11:30-12 other night. The staff is super nice try to do all that they can to make your time the best. Beach is great. To few Lounge chairs. It’s also a wedding destination. DO NOT stay at room C2. Smells like sewer And can not be rectified
Great place, it can get a little loud on the weekend with the music in MIA
This hotel, as described to me by one of the staff members, is a party hotel. It plays loud music from 2pm to 10pm every day, in addition to local parties that would last until 2am. While the facilities are just as shown in the pictures, this is not meant to be a hotel for relaxing or even having a good night's sleep. I was supposed to have stayed there one week, but couldn't spend more than one night (during which loud music played not just by the hotel until 10pm but also by a party in a neighbouring hotel until 2am). Even though my reservation via Expedia is fully refundable, I have not received from the hotel a confirmation that my refund is being processed nor any news about when I should expect to get the refund, despite several emails. I would not recommend staying at this place if your purpose is to enjoy a quiet and relaxing time.
Beautiful Property, Rooms are spacious. A/C worked, restaurant, pool area and beach club on property. Staff is very friendly.
Music made for bad nights sleep
I love the ambiance of this hotel and they redid the pool since I stayed last. However we had a room next to the club and had a miserable nights sleep. Make sure you ask if your room is next to the club.
The views from the room were beautiful and the air conditioning worked really well! The staff was also very kind and welcoming! The biggest issue was the music played from 11:00 AM to 9 PM or even later every single day. And it was a constant thumping. There is also a beach club in the middle of the beach lounging area so you can’t sit directly on the beach without being a member of the beach club. Also there were no umbrellas to rent and the sun can be brutal as early as 9 AM. The staff at the Mia restaurant were great though and I appreciated how hard they worked and how respectful they were!
Beautiful location everyone is super nice and food was delicious
Los trabajadores son súper amables, mi esposo salió con la ropa súper estrujada porque no tienen plancha en las habitación y tampoco en recepción. El hotel en fotos es una cosa y en persona es otra totalmente diferente.
Everything was amazing
The staff is overall very friendly and it’s located in a convenient location. But we were there for 7 days without air conditioning, we reached out everyday for 5 days and it never got resolved, we kept being promised it being fixed, a different room, never happened and it was well over 80 degrees so it was uncomfortable even being in the room; we could barely sleep. I honestly wouldn’t stay there again.
We
Place was really good they were very attentive and helpful
They refused to refund me when my family had a medical emergency.
Love our stay that Selina, will definitely stay here again.
Staff was friendly, helpful and attentive. Hotel room was gorgeous, clean and had all the amenities we needed. This hotel was better than I expected and will definitely be staying here again. Great location. Cold AC and great views.
The front desk and restaurant staff were amazing and attentive. Our room was serviced and cleaned well. The resort was beautiful and everything I wanted for my first trip to Mexico. The location of the resort is walking distance from all the restaurants and beach clubs. Will definitely be returning
The absolute best place I’ve stayed! The staff was friendly, our room was beautiful, air conditioner perfectly working, the morning breakfast was delicious! Everything was just perfect 👌. We will definitely come back without a doubt and stay for a longer period this time because a week wasn’t enough! Oh and Ari Gonzalez the front desk receptionist was so helpful and professional I can’t thank him enough for everything he did for us! He’s the best! Any questions or doubts we had he was there to answer us and give us a helping hand. Thank you so much Ari! 👍
Tulum Girls Trip 2021
Pros: easy check-in, friendly staff, great service, lovely property on the beach, great location within walking distance to tons of beach clubs and restaurants, air conditioned rooms Cons: $18 (USD) mimosas, very expensive food, not a lot of seating by the pool, no hand towels or washcloths available
We absolutely loved this place! The location was perfect as it was walking distance of al the main clubs. The service was great and most staff spoke English which was nice for my companions who did not. Breakfast was included as well. The hotel is right smack on the beach and they do have their own cabanas at no extra charge for guests. The room had AC and was roomier than we thought! We got the family room that has its own bathroom room F1. We would definitely stay here again if given the opportunity! Book it, you won’t be disappointed!
Pros: there were many pros to Selina - wonderful staff, beach area was amazing (lots of good shade with palm trees), and workers do an amazing job and cleaning seaweed and the beach was very nice to get in, cleanliness, included breakfast is served overlooking the ocean (menu good for being free), first come first serve lounging areas like cabanas over looking the ocean and pool chairs Cons: a lot of kids around the pool area so if you’re not into that then I’d recommend an adults only resort, ac unit broke down one night out of my stay that they were unable to fix however they did offer my a new room to stay in with working ac Note: solo traveler here - felt uncomfortable in the shared female dorm and they instantly offered me a separate room on my own for a discounted price just so that I could feel safe and enjoy the rest of my stay. Overall…wonderful hotel… will definitely be staying here when I’m in Tulum again!!
Sleepless nights in tulum
Do NOT stay here if you want to sleep. I was kept up all night every night by super loud neighbors until past 3am. Extremely loud music, screaming. They would simply pay off the “security” guards who would be sent to their room. I’ve never had this issue at any other hotel in Tulum. If you want to party all night long until 6am however, this is the hotel for you!
The service was horrible, they always forgot to put towels in the room, they cleaned the room late and the last day they didn’t even clean the room, for the money I paid it was not worth it. It was my second time there and my last
Selina Tulum was a really nice place located in the middle of all the action, walking distance or a short bike ride. The views from our Unique Ocean View with a tub on the balcony was great. Security was great too, always felt safe inside Selina.
IT WAS OK, NOT MY TYPE, WHEN FOR A FAMILY MEMBER BIRTHDAY.
Nice hotel! Tight ay the beach
It was on the beach best spot in Tulum in my opinion .. the music is obnoxiously loud and talk at 10 PM every night and begins around 7 AM that was my only complaint aside from their not being enough towels or washcloths with the humidity nothing drys .. also there aren’t any ways to communicate with the staff the Wi-Fi was touching go but wasn’t horrible when we have it the food at Mia restaurant it was super good and the staff is super nice
This place is absolutely amazing. The views and the staff were wonderful. Never been treated so nicely.
Scenic & Serene!
For spending what we did to receive the nicest room on the resort (Loft), our stay was very disappointing to the point where we did change our flight to leave a day early. While the room itself was comfortable with good AC, the amenities were minimal to none existent. As we were there 6 nights and it rained about 4/5 we stayed, the Last night we woke up to being rained on inside our room while asleep, getting soaked through the night. When we finally got up we had realized many wet spots in the room as well as rain coming down the walls, in suitcases etc. I had messaged the front desk to let them know that they need to warn others who are spending this much money that these rooms leak like this , as this was not acceptable. They did not do anything except apologize. Lastly, a few nights in a row we had neighbors in the loft next to us that blasted music and had large parties until 3-4 am, we had let the front desk know multiple nights yet there was no response and these parties continued on. We had high expectations for this hotel and are very highly disappointed. On top of this, I have been asking for a management email for over a week now and still have not gotten anything. I am writing this to notify others about what occurred so future guests will be made aware if the resort does not warn them.
Our loft accommodation was amazing. The overall property is outstanding.
beach vibe is the best but hotel was ok
Stay went as expected being I read reviews prior to booking. The view/room was better than expected (Unique Room/Loft). Palm trees did somewhat obscure a 'clear' view of beach/ocean, however gave it a more natural jungle by ocean vibe and balcony privacy from non-guests walking the beach. Private entry into room. The property is literally built on the beach as all the walkways are paths of white sand. Music is very loud until late night hours, I was ok with & prepared for this as I read reviews. If you're looking for peace & quiet, this is not the hotel for you, nor any place on Tulum Beach zone. A/C in room was excellent. Literally a beautiful property layout and design. Each building housed no more than 6 rooms (Hostels excluded). Manager Marisol was excellent. She was willing to accommodate/rectify issues that arose when brought to her attention. The negative, service at hotel bar. Good luck trying to get a drink. Many times you are ignored or wait forever! Bartenders seem too busy fulfilling wait staff drink orders. You can stand at the bar with literally money in your hand and not get acknowledged for 5 plus minutes.
Pretty nice located. Friendly staff. Clean.
The hotel and people were amazing from the time we checked in until the time we left. The service was superb. I will definitely be back. We also really enjoyed the beach club, every night was a different artist performing which was magical.
The price of the room is decent. You have access to the white powdered sand beach instantly. The location of the hotel is perfect, so close to all the resto and bar. I’ll definitely come back. For the restaurant I wish their is variety of choices, like western food or Asian food. Eating the same Mexican food for a week’ Gets boring. I missed the food I normally eat at home. But the price of food inside the Mia is affordable.
Two words: bed bugs. Check under your mattresses!!!! HONEST REVIEW! Stayed here April 21-April 25, 2021 in the family room: G4. First and foremost, Selina’s transportation to and from Cancun airport was reliable and easy to schedule. Check-in and check-out was smooth and fast. As soon as we arrived and opened our bedroom door it reeked of mold and wet clothes that someone forgot to take out of the washer and dry. We figured it was because the AC unit was set on 24°C but no matter how often we tried to set it down to 16°C (which is the lowest temp you can set to), it just wouldn’t budge. So, we remained in the 24°C the entire duration of our trip. The floors were wet and moist, so we kept our shoes on the entire time. The beddings, blankets and pillows were also damp and reeked of mold & wet clothes as well. The sink water was really salty and the shower curtain kept falling on us because it was so humid in our room that the walls and floors had moisture built up. Our room was only cleaned once during the duration of our trip. The 2nd day after our first night, my girlfriend had a red bite on her back and a few spottings on her legs. We assumed it was probably just mosquito bites but as the stay extended we started noticing more red itchy bumps showing up out of no where. Lets just say, we left with numerous red bites all over our limbs and they were and still are extremely itchy. The four of us all have the same type of bites. Upon examining the bumps, they are bed bug bi
Great hotel horrible service , from restaurants
The best thing about this place is its location. Right on a gorgeous beach. This review is for the dorm - which was sub-par and deceiving from photos. The 10-bunk room was packed with 9 people, quite unnerving in covid times especially with one bathroom between us. The beds themselves were uncomfortable and the sheets felt perpetually damp. The upside is cleaning staff came in daily for upkeep. The grounds are gorgeous, with many places to lounge, get sun, and enjoy the beach. The reservation comes with a complimentary breakfast which was a nice touch. They also offer many outings, yoga/wellness classes, and a community kitchen (for the budget traveler). The ultimate downside is that they treat their hotel guests as an afterthought, while they pine over their beach club guests. The parties and blasting music begin at 2 pm and last until past 10 pm every day of the week. If you love to party, this is your place. If you want to relax on the beach look into other properties that do not have a beach club attached.
El servicio de from desk no muy bueno
We only stayed here for one night but im happy that it was only one because the music was so loud until midnight our whole room was shaking with the bass. We paid way too much money for one night here to not even enjoy it.
Beautiful cabins on the beach. Very loud spring breakers, techno music until 3am.

They have no in-house Restaurant, Drinks or Ice. the restaurant on property is third party managed. I asked for a bucket of Ice and not available. at least an Ice Machine would be great . The beach club is not controlled by the hotel, but again by the third party restaurant. the bathroom tub needs to go- looked old and dirty - not sure why they still have tubs - showers
