Arrived before 3pm but room wasn't ready which was fine, was able to check in but not get our room or keys until later. Returned at 8pm and collected keys. On arrival to our room we noticed it had not even been cleaned. Dirty towels on bathroom floor and unmade beds. Had to return to reception to get another room, which was fine but the room could have been cleaner. One glass was dirty, there was dust on some surfaces and dust balls on the floor plus the table legs had hair and dust balls. AC was a bit temperamental and the fan is noisy so had to have this on low and still got warm overnight (end of October!) The hotel was very quiet but it is a big place and wasn't particularly busy. The hotel has paid secure parking but didn't need it, there is free parking nearby which was absolutely fine. Otherwise a fairly comfortable stay, would stay again for convenience but could be cleaner and better value.
Great value
Good hotel and great value
not that near centre otherwise hotel very good
Clean room, Friendly staff, Need car
Clean room without any particular frills but no complaints either. Friendly staff, nice bar. Tiny TV. There is a new McDonalds opening soon but not open on the date we were there. Location requires a car. Only stayed one night so didn't test any other facilities but happy with everything we experienced.
This business hotel is a good choice if visiting Maastricht by car. If you bicycle, a path is right in front of the hotel, and the surrounding area is green. The rooms are large and very quiet (in view of a main road and highway but I heard nothing), and the beds are quite comfortable. Staff is very helpful. The trashcan and shaving mirror in my bathroom were broken but both replaced within a day. Oddly, my room had not only one but two air conditioners: A milder/quieter floor unit and a more robust, louder wall unit. One thing Expedia doesn't tell you-- a Superior Room not only includes a Nespresso machine and kettle, but also includes free parking, which normally costs 15 euros per day. Things I didn't like: Tiny, outdated TV with no streaming options, only one English-language channel, not even the usual CNN/BBC news options. Fortunately NL doesn't overdub foreign shows, so there are series/movies to watch in the evening. The breakfast was OK but could use some more options, and did not change at all the week I stayed here.
Excellent informative staff. Unfortunately our room was over the front doors and the motion doors were loud. Big room, lots of space for suitcases. They had umbrellas to borrow for when we wanted to explore the town and were very helpful with directions. Breakfast was expansive and fresh, very good. Fill up your water bottles at breakfast though, in the restaurant in the evening you have to pay for table water.
Located in a newly developed area next to a highway. Windows block out the noise adequately but there are no nice views. It’s a practical, new, modern hotel for business travelers.
Great hotel including great breakfast, rather close to walk to the centre of the city. Very good staff.
Everything is very nice, breakfast buffet could be better but it was good enough.
Very nice hotel and service
Clean rooms and very helpful staff
The rooms are painted black and the lighting is poor so it is impossible to see to pack or unpack at night. The restaurant has fixed capacity so if you arrive after a long day of travel and have no reservation, you are out of luck. Staff had no problem to direct me to McDonalds.
Clean and Comfortable
Clean and comfortable. Nice bar and dining area. Nothing special about it. Location was the worst thing as nothing in the area apart from a McDonald's. Walk into town is easy but takes about 20 mins.
Overpriced
Would class this more 3 star. Basic finish, picture frames in corridor with no pictures, no bedside table just a shelf behind head level.
Could hotel for work-related stay
Have stayed several times at that hotel. Rooms are very good although beds could be more comfortable. Easily accessed by car. A bit remote otherwise but can walk to city centre or university via the Green Loop.
Excellent one
Rooms are comfortable. People working there is very kind. Common areas are a bit old.
Facility looks very nice. Fair price for nice breakfast. Walls thin and noisy.
Alles was goed geregeld.
The smoking-place was right under our room window.
Good price for good service and quality. Loved the water pressure in the shower!
Breakfast was good. staff were friendly, even early morning.
Maastricht stop over
Hotel is a good base we were aloud to park our motorbikes by the main entrance which was good for security. More selection of pillows would have been nice and the carpets in the hotel are tired and the pool table was too expensive €2 per game is expensive.
overall a nice hotel
toilet kept running that was annoying, had a long black hair on my towel and i'm a blond lady. the beds are on rolls so not that great to cuddle because the beds always move and you would fall through the middle. the staff is super friendly and helpful location is right next to the station. breakfast was good too
The room was cleaned every day, good service. The only downsides were that it is far from the city center and there is no minibar in the triple room. Otherwise it was all good.
One night stay All over it was good
building is ok, but very basic. doesn't strike you as a 4 star upon arrival.
It is thrift facility and has no microwave for common use. You cannot have any hot meal in this hotel. And it is a little far away from central city and dining area so if your travel is for sight seeing it might be not easy to access your place. It is good for only business trip for short period.
Fantastic. Lovely staff excellent facilities. Really nice bar and restaurant.
Quiet ,clean & helpful staff. We'll come again!
We enjoyed our trip immensely .good food.
Lovely hotel, not far from railway station. A further walk into Maastricht
The rooms are dirty and in poor condition. The air conditioning doesn’t work. An awful experience
Great staff, location was ideal for Amstel gold race, had an early breakfast on race day which was cool
Shabby, stained carpets throughout and stair carpet from reception has holes - potentially hazardous. Reception staff were welcoming, but also had to ‘staff’ the coffee bar, but were too busy with checking out to serve coffee to anyone.
Give it take
Hotel on outside looks great. Inside different story. Kind of run down. Water left in thermal thing from previous people. Bleach spots on carpet. Beds were comfy. Close to bus stop.
Good solution for the price requested, A bit far from city center. Not so easy to find it by car
Clean and modern
Good service, clean and modern rooms. Good for an overnight stay. 10-15 min drive to Maastricht City center.
Good location, easy parking.
Underwhelming.
The staff were very nice. The hotel lobby looks nice but our room was underwhelming. The tv did not work. The carpet was heavily stained. A lamp did not work. The furnishings were cheap looking and tired. Would not recommend if you prefer a bit of luxury. I would certainly not rate it 4* as it states.
Quick visit to Maastricht
Check in easy and welcoming. Carpets in the room and corridor had stains. Beds with spring mattresses a bit funny so each spring we could feel under the back. Breakfast was nice. Clean and light restaurant. Food choice quite satisfying.
We had just come from Eithoven which was having "Design Week". The rooms in this hotel had a bunch of examples of "Things you should not do". For instance, when you have a desk that people may want to work at, do not make the nearest available plug require draping from the laptop to across the pathway. The light levels were so horrible. We turned on all lights and the only way for the room to have a bit of light was to remove the lampshades from the lamps. The soap dispenser in the bathroom was set to drip onto the floor below. The step down when you got out of the tub will challenge others. The industrial look they are going for makes a bathroom that is harder to clean. It is a standard business class hotel but without any allowances for the bodies of the business class people using them.
Great location and super friendly staff!
The area was nice as well as the city. The hotel has a very eye catching lobby and super friendly/helpful staff! The room though had stains all over the carpet...that was a little bit disappointing...but the bed was extremely comfortable!
Old hotel that been updated
Its an old hotel that been updated. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel provide shuttle bus but not on day we stayed (thursday). Its 35 minutes walk to the city through a wide new pavement area. There is an ear as much of you can sushi restaurant and McDonald beside the hotel. There is paid peaking in from of the hotel but there are also grew peaking in the side of the hotel restaurant or in front of the sushi restaurant (although not the rows right in front of the restaurant -2 hours free here). Overall we don't really have any complain the hotel.
Clean modern hotel in peaceful setting.
Lovely hotel, friendly and helpful staff, would definitely stay again.
Hotel close to Mastrict
Hotel getting very tired Holes in stair carpet and stained carpets in room
Unpleasant
Had to change room 3 times. Air Conditioning and TV didn't work at all in the first 2 rooms, then in the 3rd room the Air Conditioning didn't cool enough. Awful time.
Excellent location
Excellent location in the centre of Bruges. Although we hadn't booked breakfast we were given a complimentary one which was excellent. Parking handy and although it was paid for, it was very reasonable.
Return to Apple Park
Returned to this hotel for our second time to see Andrei Rieu in Maasstricht. Hotel is comfortable and the walk in and out of the city kept us fit. Breakfast was not worth 20 Euros. Closest bakers did 8.5 Euro Breakfast that was more than adequate.
I would say that it is a nice hotel well keeped . I was on booking unaware that it was in the middle of an industeral estate as i would not have booked it.When it was busy it took a very long time to get a taxi THE ONLYwat to get into the city or anywhere. Overall my stay was good .But i will not be going back.
The only problem with the room was that there wasn't enough lighting in the room, at times it was dark if the curtains were not drawn
great for cyclists
Stayed again for a big bike race, was good value, well set up, we'll be back. They welcome cyclists, we took bikes to room etc.
Ok hotel but be aware of extra charges on checkout
Decent enough rooms, restaurant is good, but not great. Was disappointed with the sneaky extra's on check out, they charge a 'service charge' as well as the city tax and its per person. Also the hotel is way outside the city next to a huge empty parking lot, this should be free for guests but guess again, EUR11:50 per night to park in the middle of nowhere. Won't be going back here.
Good hotel and accommodating customer service. City center by bus which runs every 30 min. McDonalds nearby and restaurant in hotel which are handy.
Very disappointed
We stayed here because we had previously stayed at the Golden Tulip Amsterdam West. We were very disappointed. The breakfast was expensive and has little choice. There was no iron in our room. Our room was for 3 adults and yet we were only supplied with 2 towels. There were burn holes in the curtains and bleach stains all over the carpets. When we asked for towels they asked if we'd collect them! We learned this is a franchise so do not let it out you off staying at the Amsterdam Golden Tulip which is excellent.
Hotel is out of town centre and current major roadworks make area less than attractive. No noise from this so didn't mind. Parking fees added €11 per night so will take this extra cost into account on next hotel search!
Clean and modern hotel with plenty of car parking.
We stayed for two nights and the bed was very comfortable. The temperature control was very effective and the free wifi worked well. The hotel is about minutes drive from the center of Maastrict and there is a courtesy mini bus, that we made use of, that can ferry hotel guests to the centre of the city. The restaurant is very impressive and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel had a nice, good feel to it.
Mediocre hotel with parking charges
The hotel was ok but they forgot to put wash clothes in our room. They didn't give a call to check if we needed anything upon first check in. The room was clean. The TV and beds were TINY. The parking 15 euro and not well protected. They offered a free shuttle to the city center in the evening which was pretty cool.
F1 "Pit Stop"
Being less than an hour drive from Spa, we stayed just overnight, while attending the Belgium race weekend. The hotel was well located, on the edge of the city & only 4-bus stops from the old city centre. The staff were both friendly & helpful. Plenty of free parking was available within 200 m of the hotel's own secure (pay) car park. The restaurant menu looked varied & reasonably priced, although we decided to eat out. The room furniture was a mix of slightly dated minimalist/industrial with pieces of galvanised steel for things such as the bathroom towel rail, which looked cheap & crude, rather than stylish. The bed was huge & comfortable. The hotel has a retro theme (America / movies) with motorcycles, etc in the lobby & framed newspaper articles along the room corridors, which in the 21st century, has lost its edge.
Dissapointed.
I stayed in this Hotel in 2005 and it was then in excellent condition---it now needs some work. Generally the Golden Tulip chain keep their Hotels in top notch condition--this is an exception. The breakfast in the beautiful dining room was super.
Nice hotel..
Good hotel. A bit away from Maastricht city centre / railway station though . Rooms are clean and spacious..
Overall I would recommend
Most of the staff was friendly and helpful. When we checked in there was one person at the desk that was short with me when I asked for a free map of the area, she said there is map with the room key. There was but not as detailed. Also, when arrived at Maastricht train station I called the hotel to find the best way to get to the hotel and I was told taxi for about 9 euros. It cost us 20 euros! Apparently the hotel has a taxi service that they use that charges approximately 9 euros for hotel guests to travel to most areas in the city. Too bad they didn't give me that number when I called. We did use the taxi service several times after that and they were quick and friendly. Overall, nice hotel. I would recommend a small refrigerator in the room.
Great
Excellent value for money
not recommend
not good location difficult to find the location and bit remoted area isolated i went there with my boyfriend and we did not have nice atomosphere not recommended for the couple or family
Hotels.com
why, when i booked for 2 adults and 1 6 year old child, was informd on arrival would have to pay 25 EUR a night for an extra bed!? Then charged for city tax, then for parking, despite car park being empty day and night???! Hotel generally is OK, and whether theae issues are hotels.com or hotel, i dont know. cant help but feel would have rated perfect had not had these silly issues!
very pleasant weekend stay
apart from finding our room rather stuffy, we had a very pleasant stay, good food including a very varied breakfast menu.
Nice Hotel
Room was spacious and clean. There was a kettle in the room with some coffee and tea packs. Room service very fast however not too many options in the menu. Food was great but a little bit expensive. Also, not used to buy so expensive water ( not only in this hotel)' so bring a big bottle to the room or you will pay €2,60 for a small bottle at the hotel.( living in the US , I'm definitely not used to pay more that much for bottle if water) Receptionists were very attentive every time I needed something. I forgot my international outlet adaptor and they promptly found one that I could have during my stay. Town center is a half hour walk or there's a bus service within 10 min walk. I didn't rent a car so getting around was a little tricky. The hotel has contract with a tax service company which charges €9,25 each way to the city center with plenty of shops and restaurants.
A nice hotel near quiet residential area
Even the location is not super convenience but very comfy and quiet for staying. Will visit again.
Good hotel, clean rooms
It is not very close to the station. But, it is a very good and clean business hotel. The McDonalds close by helps especially if you reach the hotel late in the night.
Needs updating
Staff friendly and polite. Bathroom in need of updating - rust in chrome fittings and cheap plastic shower hose made for a less than satisfactory experience. Carpets in corridors and stairs shabby stained and worn.
Spacious and industrial chic.
The Apple Park hotel is situated in a business park opposite to DHL. It's a 7-15 minute drive from the centre of Maastricht. There is a bus stop within easy walk and the bus costs €2.50. Parking costs €11.50 a night in the secure car park opposite but there is parking nearby on the estate. We paid but were in the minority. The hotel was very clean and the reception staff very helpful and friendly. The style is "industrial chic" with white walls and steel beams supporting the luggage rack/cupboards/TV. Large room and good bathroom with a strong shower. Air conditioning was a little underpowered though adequate, just. There are roadworks by the hotel which will add 15 minutes to your arrival but you cannot hear or see them at the hotel.
interesting !
A very nice hotel but the road works for the new tunnel isolate that hotel. Only a short taxi drive if you want to avoid looking for the underground parking in the old city, very quiet and good overall, a good solution for tourists travelling by car.
Comfortable.
The hotel was simple but comfortable with everything we needed for the weekend; the bed had an excellent hard mattress. They provide with free wifi access. 20 mins walk from the centre.
Hotel is ok. Tried to make it modern American, but it misses. Room lighting is terrible. But price wa right so can't complain
very nice hotel
definitely 4 star hotel. it's ok location. very nice service and condition.
Upbeat Modern Hotel
Very nice hotel - cant complain. Staff were extremely friendly, spoke English very well. They even allowed us to have a quick poker game in the common area with our friends. Rooms are extremely clean and spacious - it had a motorcycle/garage theme to the hotel which I found to be neat with the added touch of the harley's in the lobby. I would definitely go back here and recommend this hotel, especially if you need a stopover (cheap price for a very updated hotel). Gas station and Mcdonalds are nearby.
Great business hotel
The hotel is very trendy, comfortable and up to date - easy to find if you're driving as its just off the motorway from the North - the staff are really courteous and its not far from the historic city centre - lots of nice restaurants within 2 miles. Only downside is that the breakfast is over priced and only 'adequate' rather than great, but then the overnight rate is very competitive so overall it works out OK. Ate in the restaurant one evening. Food well prepared but took a long time to arrive despite the restaurant having few people in it.
Modern and convenient
The hotel is clean and the lobby has a modern feel to it. It is conveniently situated within reasonable distance from the train station. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that I requested for a double bed but got a twin instead. We were in a hurry to go somewhere after checking in and didn't have the time to request a room swap. Otherwise, it was a pleasant stay.
poor location and noisy
The hotel is located in a large commercial area near a sports stadium and a noisy main road. Fairly remote from the town centre. Air con fan in room was noisy and coud not be switched off. Window could not be opened due to vehicle noise from outside. Poor sound proofing from adajacent rooms and corridors. Parking charges normally apply, but were waived because had been incorrectly described as complementary on Hotels.com website.
Nice but expensive
Nice hotel, friendly and clean. Good restaurant but very expensive. Watch out for the parking charges.
Bad lighting puts overcast feeling to stay
Others have mentioned the lighting, it is very dark, no bedside lamps and all other bulbs are very low wattage. No lighting to do any laptop or work under. Did think it would bother me, but it really did and would be the main reason I would not go back as I was there on business. Otherwise was quiet and clean.
It is not walkable
The Golden Tulip in Maastricht Apple Park is a taxi cab (€9.50) or a bus ride (#3 for €2) from the central train station - It is not walkable. The bus runs about twice an hour from the hotel to the station and is about 5 blocks away. If you came to see Maastricht and you don’t have a car or lots of money for cab rides, this hotel may not fit the bill. If you’re looking for a great place to spend a night or two, this hotel is extreme value for the money and very clean and modern. There are many English stations on the TV, a bar and restaurant on site, friendly staff and a McDonalds within walking distance.
Great as a base, not for romantic getaway!
Excellent deal with Expedia - even with the extra costs involved in getting to the centre, the Golden Tulip was still cheaper than other hotels. We just wanted a base to explore the town as my son is hoping to start university there & in this respect the Golden Tulip was perfect. Not sure about the US themed decor & the 'industrial' design & not many central areas to sit & relax. Rooms were fine although the bed rested against a ledge which meant you couldn't prop pillows up to read or watch tv. Didn't have breakfast in hotel after previous reviews had mentioned the price & we certainly ate cheaper & in a bit more atmosphere at one of the restaurants on Vrijhthof. We did have an evening meal in Dreamz (!) which was a bit pricy but very tasty. Major roadworks are being carried out close to the hotel - we weren't affected by any noise but the view from the restaurant terrace was not very scenic! All in all, if you only need a base to sleep in & you can get a good deal then the Golden Tulip is hard to beat.
great hotel, nice staff
Bring your own light
Hotel was clean and well maintained. The hotel was very stylized in a new York theme and the rooms were in an industrial theme Decorations were very interesting, however the rooms were so poorly lit - without even a reading light-they were awful at night. Furniture was uncomfortable and impractical.
Outside town
This is a comfortable and friendly business hotel on the outskirts, near the football stadium. The staff are efficient, and the restaurant has an excellent 3-course dinner special offer, which changes every night. The only disadvantage is that it is located too far out to stroll back into town for the evening. There is a nearby public bus (line 3), and the hotel has a voucher deal with a local taxi firm - in or out of town (currently E9.25), far cheaper than on the meter, especially when the traffic is clogged. Breakfast (currently E18.50) is far too expensive for the simple buffet on offer, but the hotel has a captive audience!
Close to the station and clean.
This hotel is within a waliking distance from the Maastricht station. (about 10 minutes) A safe and nice environment. You can also take a public bus (Veolina) to the main parts of the city. The hotel is fancy and good. But the breakfast is a little bit expensive (18 euro).
A nice hotel in the Maastrict suburbs
The hotel is clean and convenient. The desk is open and the staff her helpful. Its a reasonably large hotel. The rooms are clean, large and have everything you would expect from a standard hotel. The location is slightly to far from the town center. About a 30 minutes walk. There is a bus (line 3) about 5 minutes walk that goes every 15-20 minutes. The hotel is right next to the MVV stadium. There was no match on when i went but assume it would be busy if there was one. There is a McDonald's that's open till 2am and another couple of restaurants near by. The hotel also does a special offer for taxis to train station (EUR 9.25 each way). On the whole a nice hotel in a quite location, but don't expect a town center location.
Golden Tulip Maastricht - Clean and efficient
Quick check in, spotlessly clean room with comfy beds. Secure cycle storage provided. Hotel is 10 min walk from the railway station though not in the direction of the city centre. Good value at 70 euro for a twin room though we didn't opt for the breakfast at 18 euro. McDonalds is only 100 meters away!
Golden Tulip Apple Park in Maastricht
On the whole, our stay was very good and staff generally helpful. A little away from town centre but taxis easy to order although only 15 minute walk if you know which way to go. Only criticism would be of the restaurant. There was a limited menu, no vegetarian option for my daughter and no english version to look through. I think as English is one of the main languages of the EU, it was disappointing to see the lack of translations in the hotel and indeed Maastricht itself.
Golden Tulip
Not a bad hotel, the negatives are:- very expensive breakfast at 18 euros specially for one that is self service and not theat special. Do not get excited by the "gym" just 3 different machines under stairs by the lift in reception. The bar seem to close early.
Nice hotel but expensive parking
Nice room , though the industrial style fittings will not be to everyones taste. Suffers from the same as issue most hotels in Maastrict that parking is expensive, so plan on this if using your car. Not sure how accessible the hotel is as it did seem some drive away from MECC by car
Inconvenient Location; But Good Hotel
I enjoyed my stay at Golden Tulip Apple Park. Unfortunately, it's not a walk-able distance to the city center, and cabs are somewhat expensive. There's not much to do around the hotel. It would've been nice if a shuttle of some sort was provided to the city center, because you're pretty isolated staying here. The room and hotel itself was quite nice, though, were nicely decorated, clean, and pleasing. Internet was completely down at the hotel during part of my stay, which was inconvenient, but when it did work it was good quality.
Good hotel for up to 5 nights for seeing this area of Holland
Very large hotel with modern breakfast room and bar. Staff in hotel and bar very helpful and friendly. Lovely spacious bedroom and bed. Our window did not open wide enough for us and we got too hot some nights. The aircon switched itself off during one of the nights we used it, but we didn't bother saying anything! We had just left a hotel room with a balcony! The hotel could have made better use of the areas outside and placed plants around - there was nothing like this! Breakfast was excellent and we both eat far too much! They had a few problems with being too busy some mornings! Beware of using the bus into Maastricht during school holidays, as service is only half hourly (we found this out by asking a bus driver why he was so late!).
Not a 4-star hotel
We stayed at the hotel for one night only and hopefully. It’s old fashioned (even if recently modernized) and far from Maastricht downtown. Our bed linens had hole And the flush button was broken. For the electrical cars the charging points are not part of the hotel as they are in a public parking and we were not able to use them. So I do not recommend this hotel if you have EV. For dogs they are not allowed at breakfast so don’t come with your dog here. At check- in we have not been informed of this and we paid for the breakfast. Globally it’s good to look for another hotel in Maastricht downtown. The staff is nice (early check in possible) but it doesn’t compensate. Doesn’t deserve 4 stars as an hotel.
Netjes
A decent hotel in Maastricht, there are only 3 of them. Kind of dated and rooms were dark. Staff were excellent.
