Excellent hotel and service
Lovely hotel
Beautiful hotel, relaxing stay. Best hotel we’ve ever stayed at
Lovely hotel, however when we arrived we were just given our keys and shown the lifts - very little information from the clerk, despite the large number of staff on duty. We felt that limited our stay as we were unsure of all facilities.
Beautiful rooms, helpful staff, and great breakfast!
Excellent property, service and staff.
Spectacular
I can’t emphasise enough how great the hotel is and how attentive the staff are. The hotel itself is spectacular and there are so many activities and restaurants to visit that you’ll never get bored - even then, this hotel is located in the perfect location for you to go and explore Funchal. The hotel staff were also great in helping us plan our trip accordingly, especially for the time we had in Madeira - to the point that they even asked if we had seen any companies that we’d like to use for tours etc, rather than showing us ones that are affiliated with the hotel. Massive thanks to Beatrice in concierge! All I can say is, we will definitely be back!
The room was spacious and to a high standard. The staff couldn’t do enough for us. Really pleasant and helpful. There are plenty of areas to relax and chill. Lovely pool area, and all the food options were first class. Only thing I wish I’d known earlier was that the Royal next door is the sister hotel and you can access their sea bathing via a connecting footbridge.
Stunning hotel, great location, five star luxury.
Splendid greenery!
A very enjoyable stay. Beautiful greenery everywhere you look - a paradise for plant enthusiasts! Spotlessly clean and a very comfortable room. We had an ocean view room with a balcony to celebrate a big birthday for my husband. We ate in for two nights and tried both restaurants - both offered vegan options with great wines. Portion sizes in the Terrioro restaurant were huge! The breakfast selection was fantastic.
This hotel was exceptional. The staff were really friendly and the breakfast buffet was impressive. Pros: -clean spacious rooms -friendly staff -breakfast buffet and many other restaurants on site -spa on site Cons: -no privacy in the bathrooms. No locks on the doors and curtains on the shower that open to the bedroom -no privacy fan -no shelving or extra hooks in bathroom so nowhere to place your belongings -sinks had taps.on the counters so water gets everywhere -buffet breakfast didn't have too many.vegan options and items such as grilled veggies were not marked vegan and not served in the vegan area so could be potentially problematic for those with allergies Suggestions: -breakfast open eaelier for those with early morning flights -add a lunch buffet or extend breakfast until 1pm -spa was so expensive for what we received
The Savoy Palace is high end and perhaps a bit sterile in places. There are a lot of vast, empty public areas which didn’t entice you to sit down with a drink etc. On the positive side, the rooftop bar area was a stunning place to sunbathe, swim in the infinity pool and enjoy a drink with amazing views. The pool areas are wonderful with plenty of loungers and luxury towels provided. All of the hotel staff were great, although checking out was a little bit slow due to a sudden influx of new guests - Monday appears to be changeover day for the timesharers. Breakfast was up there with the best we’ve had at any hotel with lovely service on the terrace. The biggest downside was it was impossible to relax peacefully on our 11th floor superior ocean view balcony. There was a dreadful all day jazz festival close by on the Friday, which went on long into the night. And the Savoy’s sister ‘Next Hotel’ had a lively rooftop bar where the loud music started before sundown and continued until late, even though there appeared to be next to no one there to enjoy it. To a lesser extent, there was the continuous hum of multiple aircon units on nearby buildings. Fortunately the rooms were well soundproofed so the outside noise didn’t leak into the room. We couldn’t make our minds up about Funchal as a destination we liked the city feel and it is a spectacular location albeit it lacks a beachfront feel. We would probably look at a more compact hotel if we do return one day.
Everything was great. Friendly and attentive staff helped me feel safe and comfortable while traveling alone.
The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful
Great place to relax
This is, arguably, THE BEST hotel that my partner and I have ever stayed at. We chose Savoy Palace to celebrate my 30th birthday, and we couldn't have made a better choice. Not only was the staff kind, knowledgeable, attentive and friendly, but also very accommodating and hospitable. The Superior Ocean Suite and the Junior Ocean Suite were spacious, clean and the epitome of luxury. And the view of the ocean was, dare I say...superior. The cleaning staff was extremely thorough, and, y'all, the hospitality staff was working overtime. They really made sure that I felt special on my 30th birthday with champagne, chocolate and cake, and I really felt seen by that gesture. Not to mention, it was so unexpected and thoughtful! Oh! And the complimentary breakfast was EVERYTHING. The assortment of pastries, the incredible omelette/egg benedict chefs, the fresh, tropical fruit bar, and the plethora of drink options were EXCELLENT. I can't remember a time that I've ever felt more excited for a complimentary hotel breakfast. The game room is a hidden gem in Savoy Palace. Tucked away in the corner on the ground floor, my partner and I racked up many hours at the ping pong table. Now, I'll admit, some of the reviews on this hotel had me scared to book, but, after my stay, I can't imagine a better choice than to book with Savoy Palace. 10/10.
Need more food options especially between 3pm-6pm. For those travelers that arrive at 3pm at the hotel where are they supposed to eat
First class and new hotel with v nice staff and restaurants!
Amazing location in central Madeira. Definite 5 star property with excellent service, beautiful rooms and access to the sea. Highly enjoyed our stay and would recommend to everyone visiting Madeira!
Excellent property with very attentive staff.
Amazing room. We stayed in the garden room and it was large and spacious, very clean and luxurious. We only stayed a couple of nights but more hanging space/drawers would be required for a long stay. We stayed for our anniversary and we were surprised with sparkling wine and chocolate cake which made it special.
Great location, attentive staff, food amazing. Expensive but worth the money. Slight gripe was the mini bar wasn’t restocked and the glasses not cleaned but did not tarnish our experience.
I have to say it was a great experience staying at the Savoy. I will be back for sure my wife & I loved Madeira.
The Savoy Palace is perfectly positioned in the centre of Funchal. The staff are so helpful and are very knowledgeable about Madeira. I will definitely be staying here again when I next visit Madeira.
I loved the hotel, but I didn’t like the fact that the main attraction, which was the restaurant at the top of the roof was closed for the private party on Saturday night. To me that is unacceptable !!! I spend 5 nights there, and my last night and most important one I couldn’t spend where I truly wanted to. Very disappointed. I also found out about it the night before, so I couldn’t plan it better because they didn’t let us know early enough.
Excellent location and fabulous quality hotel. Great choice of bars/entertainment as well as an array of fabulous dining choices. Breakfast offer was first class.
Would fully recommend staying at the savoy palace , pure excellence
Amazing hotel
Amazing hotel!
Best place to enjoy relaxing vacation
Lovely room on 14th floor overlooking pool Very comfortable bed and pillows Immaculately clean Friendly reception and door staff Breakfast just ok not as good as we had expected
Fantastic
Decent selection of food for breakfast
We had an amazing honeymoon at the savoy palace. There is so much to do on site including a wide variety of live music, spa, games room, afternoon tea, event nights and more. We booked the fire pit which had a delicious menu. The ocean suite was spectacular! The little touches of treats and turn downs were great too. Breakfast was delicious each morning with plenty to choose from and including some great coffee. Overall we would say that by the best thing about the hotel is the staff and customer service. Every member of staff was kind and welcoming and always going above and beyond for us during our entire stay. We’ve already said that we will be returning with our daughter as there’s a great selection of things for the kids to do.
Positives: 1. Great location, central and walkable 2. Spacious room with balcony and great views 3. Multiple pools 4. Most of the staff was very nice and courteous (other than below examples) Negatives: 1. The first day my wife and I were there, I asked for an ice bucket at the reception. I was told by the woman at reception that the only way to get an ice bucket is to call room service and pay a 5 euro charge. I asked if I could just go to the adjacent bar and get an ice bucket, as I didn't need to pay to have one delivered. I was told "they wont give you one." So, we were forced to pay 5 euros for a very small bucket of ice. That same day, after eating at one of their restaurants, I became ill with a gastrointestinal sickness. My wife went to a nearby store and purchased some Gatorade to help me stay hydrated. When she came back through the lobby, she went to the adjacent bar and asked for a cup of ice. She was then repeatedly questioned why she wanted the ice. The bartender refused to give her a glass of ice and was again told that the only way to get a glass of ice is from room service and pay a 5 euro charge. I find this absolutely absurd. The fact that you can't get an ice cube at this hotel without paying 5 euros for room service is a joke. 2. You are not permitted to have a drink in the adult pool despite using plastic cups 3. Staff refused for us to take 1/2 finished glass of wine to the room after breakfast.
I totally enjoyed my stay at the Savoy Palace. I feel that it lived up to its reputation of being the best hotel in Madeira. Staff was very helpful with suggestions for our tours which we thoroughly enjoyed. Breakfast is free with an array of choices to suit any palate, and there are off-site restaurants at every turn.
Prime location, excellent facilities, and friendly staff.
Great location and facilities. Hotel staff are very helpful and courteous
Excellent place great location
Amazing beds. So comfortable. Very clean.
The experience was a DREAM! Will definitely come back and recommend to others.
On of the best and biggest hotels with great service
Good property but not cheap
very high-end, luxurious hotel.
The only negative was that we did not appreciate what was available at the hotel, too much for the reception to explain at booking in and insufficient literature in the room We found it impossible to view what actual dishes were available at the restaurants on-site, only general comments on the food being offered.
This hotel was amazing and probably one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed at the rooms were clean. The savoy provided has the best view of Funchal. The infinity pool on the 16th floor provided the most amazing view!! Breakfast was exceptional !! If you are visiting Funchal this is the best place to say
The Savoy Palace wasn't just a hotel, it was an experience. The scale and design were reminiscent of Dubai's grand resorts, with spacious facilities sparkling clean. From the beautiful pools to the luxurious spa (a must-try!), everything felt opulent. Absolutely loved my stay!
One of the best hotel stays we have had. Amazing service. Great staff ready to help with anything and everything. They went the distance to ensure we were comfortable and looked after. Great breakfast! Terrific pool. Great spa. Great location. Need to go here again!
I have traveled all over the world at incredible hotel properties and this is my new favorite hotel. The hotel and the property is simply spectacular and being able to use the properties of other Savoy hotels is the cherry on top. This is a one of a kind hotel and experience.
Stayed here for part of our honeymoon. Definitely a solid 5 star hotel. Would recommend it to others
Fantastic property and fantastic staff
The Principe di Savoia is part of the Dorchester Collection, and therefore the standards of the hotel are already at a very high level. The staff is polite and attentive and can cater to your every whim while in Milano. We stay here everytime when we are in the capital city. It is in walking distance to the Statione Centrale as well as the Quadrilatero d’Oro (Via Monte Napoleone, Via Manzoni, Via della Spiga and Corso Venezia) and the Piazza Gae Aulenti and the adjacent Corso Como Shopping District.
Amazing experience
Savoy Place is beautiful! The rooms, the grounds, restaurants, location…everything about this hotel is perfect! But the most amazing thing about this hotel is the STAFF!!! They are golden! They made our stay amazing. If you are debating about this hotel, go for it, you will be happy you did!! We will definitely go back again and in the meantime I dream about Madeira and Savory every day!!! Thanks to management for creating such a wonderful environment and keeing the staff and guests happy.
Great location to explore all that Madeira has to offer. Highly walkable but easy transportation access. Outstanding attention to guest services and cleanliness. Plenty of onsite activity while retaining a calm and relaxing atmosphere.
Nice clean place
Everything is excellent. The A/C was not working in our room but the staff made sure to operate it for us remotely. Other than that, no complaints at all. An excellent hotel and location.
Great location, staff very friendly and welcoming. Made our anniversary that little bit more special.
This is the most beautiful hotel in Europe with access to the town and all of Madeira. Definitely 5 Star. I would highly recommend this amazing place.
Loved the breakfast. Our flight was cancelled so we lost one day at the hotel and they did nothing for us like a room upgrade. I was there to celebrate my 70th Birthday and i emailed them before my trip to let them know and also told them when i arrived and they did nothing to make it special for me.
Incredible
Fantastic hotel in every way!
Amazing hotel will be going back
Exceptional customer service from everyone at this luxury hotel. The gym is very well equipped and the pool is a great temperature. Would definitely recommend the Japanese and Portuguese restaurants. Booking our next trip!
The staff are amazing as are the facilities at the hotel. Close to old town as well as lido. Wouldn’t stay anywhere else
Room maid service was often late but room itself was very good. The Hotel was impressive in its public rooms and guest facilities. Only the Pau de Lume restaurant disappointing but three others tried were very good. Spectacular and convenient.
Savoy
Beautiful hotel with great pool and many areas for eating and drinking
Staff is super friendly! Hotel was very clean and breakfast was delicious! I felt like a princess in this hotel.
Pure relaxation and luxury
Overall excellent!!!
All top notch. Super friendly and helpful staff, couldn't ask for more.
Too small bathrobes - I’m 190cm tall and was not able to wear it. Perfect stay otherwise.
First stay at the Savoy and it was a great experience . The breakfast and the swimming pool were very good. The staff were very helpful. It is a bit on the hill, so you have to walk up-and-down to get to the Old Town Center. It's about two kilometre away from the indoor market. Lovely stay
Had an one of the greater stays in Europe at Savoy Palace. Plan to go back again very soon.
Savoy Palace provided an excellent venue to enjoy a winter break. From arrival we noted friendly, helpful and efficient service from all hotel staff. This hotel provides a broad range of facilities on site and it is well located to allow access to Old and 'New' Funchal. Excellent catering and bar facilities on site, including an impressive breakfast, that is available between 7am and 11am, and a good selection of bars/restaurants within 20minutes walk. Great venue for a comfortable and relaxing break.
A beautiful hotel with a vibe of being more for executive or short city stays as opposed to a holiday. Unfortunately, it has some very strange regulations that in our experience of having travelled the world, it was only experienced in Madeira. Upon check-in, we were both asked to sign some paper that neither read. Apparently, as explained, it is so that neither party can order anything without the others knowledge. Then we were asked for a deposit on account if we wanted to put our expenses like drinks etc under our room number. In all other instances including better 5 star hotels in the world, one signs and everything gets put under the room number so that all expenses are settled at the end. This idiotic way of thinking made us feel like untrustworthy children and certainly not what is expected from any hotel let alone one that claims to be the best in Madeira. We refused but consequently had to walk around with our credit card to pay for every individual thing we bought. It totally spoiled out stay. Fortunately, there are other equivalent quality hotels on the island which makes it easy to avoid this one.
Recently, my wife and I spent a week at Savoy Palace Hotel in Funchal. Despite a generally pleasant experience, a few setbacks affected our stay. Commendations go to exceptional staff members like João, Paula, Sara, Delphine, and Poonam, contributing positively to our visit. While cleaning staff excelled in room maintenance, shared spaces lacked thorough attention. A major concern arose when reporting a safety issue with our room's shower. Inefficiency and poor communication from reception, especially Clara and Raquel, marred the resolution process, detracting from our enjoyment. Improved efficiency and transparency are needed. Dining experiences varied; Skybar had food quality issues, breakfast was good but lacked information, and Nikkei stood out positively. Poolside hazards and incomplete refurbishments affected certain areas. Lack of information about adjoining Savoy hotels and their facilities was a notable shortcoming. Reception staff should better communicate available facilities, enhancing guest satisfaction. In summary, Savoy Palace Hotel offers opulence but faces service and communication lapses. Addressing these issues could elevate the guest experience, making it a more desirable destination, recommended with some caveats.
Really blissful stay in January. The staff were so kind and helpful. The breakfasts were unbelievably amazing (I am a brunch fan and they had everything I could have wanted and more). Ocean view was sublime. Wish I could live there, to be honest.
Top service with an excellent staff, kind, smiling and very professional. Great move also the possibility to use the property’s facilities the day of departure.
Wow
Hotel with wow factor and a nice touch of bling.
Outstanding hotel, do not hesitate to go if you have the chance. Probably the best I’ve ever stayed in! Gorgeous large room, fabulous facilities and friendly very efficient staff. Loved every moment
This is advertised as one of the leading hotels of the world and its easy to see why. All the staff were wonderful, immaculately dressed and extremely helpful and the decor both inside and out oozed opulence. The room was fine but the bedside tables were more a fashion item than useful as they had no drawers in them, indeed there were only 2 drawers in the whole bedroom so a lot of our cloths stayed in our suitcases. For a hotel of this class this was a let down. We were B & B only and the breakfast buffet was incredible with every food type catered for. There was even sparkling wine for those that wanted it. The whole of the outside was a wonderful garden with plants from around the world so sitting by the large swimming pool was a joy. What we also liked was that you can get sea access via its sister hotel within easy walking distance with plenty of space to sit. You can get a lovely view at the sky bar on the 16th floor and there is even a small infinity pool for you to enjoy. One final comment and this is the choice of background music that is piped around the lobby area and the breakfast room is absolutely dreadful. Modern jazz is at best a noise that can barely be called music and to add an extra torture, sometimes in the evenings there was a pianist who played the same dirge. Please if you feel you have to play some kind of music then try a bit of classical music instead. The only reason that we did not have a drink at the lobby bar was that this dreadful noise.
Everything at the hotel was perfect. Staff were excellent. Everyone we met was very pleasant and helpful. Food was very good.
Fabulous hotel with fantastic views from the ocean view rooms. Staff very professional but friendly. Wonderful breakfast. Would love to come back
Wow!!
Wow!! The only word that describes our stay. Thank you
Comfort, excellent facilities, fabulous views
Wonderful stay in a large, comfortable and stylish hotel. Very comfortable bed, fabulous room with amazing views (SPE suite) and lovely staff. Excellent range of facilities such as a vast luxury spa, quality restaurants and outdoor pools (ground floor and rooftop). Great location with a pleasant 10 minute leisurely flat walk into town and beyond into the old town. A few other bars and restaurants near to the hotel, which were all of a good quality. Staff were warm and welcoming. The overall vibe was relaxed luxury.
Great service, location, friendliness of the staff. views are amazing
Our stay was sublime. I would not hesitate to recommend the Savoy Palace. Luxury at its finest. Friendly, competent staff. Outstanding location.
Excellent property with very nice facilities
My wife and I stayed here for a week. We had an amazing stay. While the food and beauty of the Savoy were outstanding, our favorite part of the Savoy was the staff. The staff went out of our way to make us feel welcome and ensure that we were enjoying our stay. Kudos to the staff and management.
This is an amazing property. The service at the hotel and its restaurants is unsurpassed. Employees are friendly and have a very high service standards. The rooms are beautifully decorated. The location is outstanding. We can’t wait to go back!
Best hotel ever stayed
I am a frequent traveler and I’ve probably stayed at 100+ different hotels around the world. This is probably the best hotel I’ve been at. Almost flawless. Great facilities, great location, great service and staff . Well done Savoy!
What a fabulous experience for my family, from the moment we walked off the plane to the moment we left our Savoy Premium Experience was outstanding. The staff, food, facilities are amazing and make a luxurious holiday in a beautiful country. We will return!
Fantastic property and would like to return some day. Staff and standard of the experience was excellent. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.
Great welcome to the hotel. Lovely room and hotel buildings and grounds with beautiful greenery everywhere. The food was good at the restaurant by the pool although portions were a little on the small side for some of the dishes. Would definitely return to this hotel if back in Madeira.
Just back from a fantastic stay at the Savoy Palace, great rooms, location, staff and facilities, would definitely stay again. Enjoyed by all the family.
Enjoyable stay all round
An amazing hotel
Super helpful, accommodating, and friendly staff. Also, various dining options within the property. Excellent, spacious room with high ceiling.
Amazing property and attention to detail, if you want to feel like you are rich or if you are rich this is a perfect spot for you) loved every minute of it from the spa to the sky lounge just a fabulous experience!
