Since I was benefitted from reading others’ comments, want to document my experience in case it is helpful for anyone in future. First, the most positive is the location. To south, it takes 10 minutes to walk to waterfront/downtime. To north, walk less 10 minutes for gas station and a large shopping complex in which you may find food court, grocery store, etc. During peak season, probably convenient to walk around instead driving and trying to find a parking spot. Second, the hotel has ample parking space….at least I noticed during the Christmas time (probably low season). Hotel staff was nice and polite. However, the hotel is old with facilities quite rundown. In the change room and sauna, no lockers, no towels, no shampoos/shower gels. Usually it was shut down. You need to request front desk to turn it on and warm up. Breakfast is continental with warm items just eggs and bacon. In summary, if you go there during low season, you could stay outside of city and then when going to downtown, just park free at the shopping mall and then walk to waterfront.

The hotel was fine, not good or great. For the price point, I certainly expected more. The staff was fairly friendly but not overly. We requested tissues and face cloths for the room and were sent more towels instead. The hotel looks and smells older, stained carpets, chipped walls and baseboards. We only stayed for one night so it was acceptable but the price was far too high compared to the quality. We were disappointed, thinking we’d booked a nicer spot. It is in a great location though, and adult walkable to the shopping mall, restaurants and a bit further to the waterfront. Overall I’d have given it a much better rating if I’d paid half the amount I did!

This is a great hotel! Free parking, nice clean rooms and great breakfast. It is about 8-minute walk to the center and 5 minutes to the botanical gardens. We arrived early and they let us check in. Sao Miguel is a beautiful Island, and the Sao Miguel Park hotel is the place to stay!

The staff at this property are exceptional! Thr rooms were spacious and comfortable, and i would definitely stay here again.

This hotel was ok. The staff was kind, we were able to park for free in the big parking lot, and we had a nice balcony. For someone who likes luxurious things, this hotel was very outdated. The pool area had almost no view and the ladder to get in was loose and squeaky. Brown carpet in our room, worn out floors everywhere, scratches and marks on walls, and tacky kids crafts to hold the curtains throughout the hotel. One of the chairs in the dining room clearly had a broken leg and was still at a table. When we went to breakfast near the end there were crumbs on almost every table indicating the staff did not clean after others. The tablecloths seemed very worn and pilly. Lastly the hotel had a very very strong cleaning odor so I would not personally stay there again but it didn't bother my husband. We were happy the air conditioning worked well, and the location was great.

Upon check in we did not get the room we were expecting. Go to to our room and the smell of mold was awful. After contacting Hotels.com for a refund we had to consult front desk. They showed us another room, had a nice view, still not what we paid for, but we took it. The mold smells are horrible ….the hotel needs a lot of TLC, carpets are bed, rooms are too warm, refrigerator ran all night long, all in all I would not recommend or go back again. Noise outside on a Saturday night until after 3 a.m, hence NO sleep! Best comment we had a nice view of the harbor…but still not worth the money. Very disappointed with hotel and hotels.com for not giving us what we paid for! FYI: Also email hotel to confirm that the room you pay for is the room you are getting!!!!!!

Nice modern hotel.

I stayed in this property for the second time and probably the last. Nothing to say, the property is clean, but rooms are very basic. No coffee machine. You need to know that you can order an electric kettle. Breakfast is very unemegenetive and absolutely the same every day. The staff at the reception does not know what is happening in the city or even in the hotel in terms of cultural events.

Nice view of town and ocean. Indoor pool was good the buffet breakfast had good food options.

The staff are all extremely pleasant, our flight got canceled and extended and they accommodate us and made sure we were taken care of. It’s an extremely humid climate and the smell in the room they put us in was a bit off due to no circulation, the staff gladly accommodated us into a room in better condition and once the room had air circulation everything was pleasant and smooth. It would have bey ice to have Kleenex and hair conditioner in the room. Otherwise, extremely pleasant stay.

We were very pleased with our room. We arrived very early on our flight and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. We would highly recommend this hotel.

It was a clean well organized hotel with a very knowledgeable staff, willing to do what ever was necessary. The breakfasts were a very broad selection of foods, all well prepared.

When I arrived alone with 3 bags, a toddler and a stroller; no one came to help carry the bags to the reception area. After I checked in; no one offered help with the bags so I had to ask. The rooms are okay but overall quite dusty and I had a feeling it wasn’t clean enough. Especially the rug. There’s only one water bottle which we finished right away, so I had to call in but in the evening no one can bring water or kettle. In general, the staff was not welcoming or friendly. In the cafeteria, one again, no one offered help or to bring me coffee while I was dealing with the toddler. The breakfast was quite bad. No eggs, just bread cheese and cold cuts which I don’t eat. What ruined everything was the fact that they refused to push the checkout out time, although I offered to lay extra. I had to sit in the lobby with sobbing toddler that wanted to sleep badly but couldn’t cuz he needs a bed and quiet. I wouldn’t come back there unless I really had no choice.

the room we stayed in was VERY dated: - the beds were very uncomfortable, you can feel the springs; - the furniture was dated, the arm chair had visible holes from wear; - the tv was smaller than a standard monitor screen; - the whole room was covered in dirty looking carpet. I will note that we stayed in the room that had 3 single beds, it did look like they have renovated some other rooms as they were covered in laminate floor so they may also have more comfortable beds too. The location of the property is great, it's within 10 min walking from town where there are lots of dining options and parking on premise was very easy. The breakfast buffet at the property was excellent, the choices were great. however it doesn't change much from day to day so if you're there for a week like we were, it does get repetitive. The pools looked great, we only used the indoor pool, it wasnt heated but was a nice salt water pool.

This hotel is very well run and provides all the services you need for a stay in Ponta Delgada, including ample parking for your rental car. The location is ideal. Breakfast was good but could be improved by adding massa sovada to the bread offerings.

The hotel is walkable to the city center. The stuff is very friendly. The AC in our room had an issue which wasn't fixed.

Location, accommodations.

Overall the stay was okay. Check in procedure was a bit chaotic and staff didn’t seem to know what to do. Restaurant prices at bar very high and poor service, seemed understaffed. Would have been nice to know hours breakfast was served before it was too late. More information posted or readily available would have been helpful. However room was fine and view from balcony was fantastic.

We were put in a room that had no working air conditioning. Finally got them to change our room, and still the AC did not work. Room was not exactly clean either. Hair on the bidet. Overall a terrible and dated hotel.

Room and dining is just tired and needs overhaul

Excellent location. Easy walk to downtown, but enough distance to make it quiet. Big shopping center is near by. The best discovery was António Borges Botanical Garden in 3 min. walk, a beautiful historic garden with caves and rare plants.

The hotel was immaculate. Staff was attentive, kind and helpful. Walking distance to great restaurants and shops. Just a 10 minute ride to the airport.

Great family hotel!!

We booked a family room for four with two boys of 10 and 13 years. The room was extremely comfortable with plenty of space, and had 4 single beds. We didn't feel cramped at all. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help us when required. We went for lunch in the bar one day and realising the restaurant had just shut, the lady in the made a special request to the cook to see if she would cook something from the menu- she kindly did and it was delicious. They went out of their way for us! The hotel was equipped with two lovely pools and all that you would expect from a hotel. Thank you for an amazing stay!

Highly Recommend

This hotel was the perfect choice after an overnight flight from Boston. Check in was easy and room was quiet and clean - balcony had nice view over the city to the ocean. The breakfast buffet, the pools & sauna were great. I would definitely stay there again.

Great location in that you can walk around the little town and also a very short cab ride to the airport. The staff was amazing, amenities were good. Breakfast was fabulous! All rooms seems to have balconies and I had a great view of the ocean from mine. Didn’t like the carpeted floors in the room.

Lovely experience. Very quiet and tranquil night. Location is practical for walking to town and shops but not within which can be noisy at night. Friendly service.

The hotel has a commanding view of the city, but a fair walk down to the restaurants and waterfront. Room was well appointed, but cleaning crew was average at best. The morning breakfast was below average compared to other hotels on our trip.

Stayed one night on our way home from two week trip through the Azores.Very nice hotel with extremely friendly and helpful staff. Good location just up hill from old town. Their were several tour groups staying as well as locals using facilities for wedding and first communion celebration during our stay.

Perfectly Fine, convenient Location

The hotel is nice with all the amenities you would expect. Its clean and safe. The beds are quite firm so be prepared for that. We enjoyed the pools and the convenient location. The Buffet breakfast was pretty basic but perfectly fine. Be aware that no matter how many beds your booking includes, they up charge you 30 Euros per person for more than 2 people.

Our only complaint was that the outside pool water was too cold.

Not accurate 😕

Not quite what we paid for! The description of what we paid for was not what we received. We booked a superior ocean view room and we got a regular room with small balcony, no water and two single beds.

Mostly positive, but a couple of big caveats

We had a mixed experience at the Sao Miguel Park Hotel. First, the good: location is excellent, and the parking facilities for rental cars ample. Second, we had a number of wonderful interactions with very helpful, but also overwhelmed, staff. Special commendation to Paolo and Joyce at the front desk, and there were others. Also, the breakfast each day was great. Now for the not so good: Our room keys NEVER worked. The lock mechanism was perpetually broken, and repeated service calls during our stay never permanently fixed the problem. Several staff members assured us we were not the only guests who were having this problem. Also, the air conditioning in the room never functioned, again after a few service calls. If it had been any hotter in the city, we would have been very inconvenienced. Our sense was hotel, while offering many wonderful features, is in need of a big maintenance overhaul.

We had a wonderful stay and the staff made great recommendations.

Great location, with amazing restaurant on the first floor!

Everything was fine, I just stayed for the night, having a connecting flight early the next day.

The property/room was really nice, all updated, clean, modern. The location is fabulous, it's close and walkable to everything (shopping/eating/museums/gardens/harbor). It's all nearby and convenient. I also love that there is free/convenient parking. The breakfast buffet is great, lots of food, great variety, staff cleans the tables quickly..it was all good. Very happy we booked this hotel.

Family Spot - 3 Stars at Best

This hotel is located behind the harbor and about 10 minutes away via steep terrain. It's been neglected and both the carpet and chairs need replacing. The air conditioning barely worked in both rooms I tried. For me, that was a deal breaker and I moved down to a hotel along the harbor. All depends on what makes you comfortable and happy on vacation.

Good hotel as a base to explore São Miguel, good service and confort. The restaurant service was below expectation

Great location to walk easily into the port, but not on the main busy roads. Staff were exceptional and friendly. We also had a triple room and the third bed was a proper twin bed, ie. Not a cot or z-bed. Excellent!

Great location in Ponta Delgada, walking distance to the center of town, as well as close to the airport for early morning flights.

It is a great spot to walk to the restaurants and shops in Ponte Delgada. Just walk down the hill and you can eat anywhere. Pool is nice Bar food is pretty good Bartenders are very good. The buffet was great to have each morning. Plenty for adults and children. Some rooms are a bit small. Ours was a three bed room and it was tight, but we were hardly in our room.

Great Hotel in Ponta Delgada!

This is a great Hotel with great service and rooms. The staff was excellent and very friendly Close to a lot of the downtown area and a great restaurant called the Aviao. The pool and other amenities were, by far, some of the best I have experienced here in Sao Miguel; Breakfast offered is awesome. Highly, highly recommend.

The Hotel was lovely, great location near town and great facilities swimming pool Jacuzzi. The staff also are very friendly and nice which made the stay more pleasant. Bar staff Hugo was great character and welcoming.highly recommend, also only 10 minutes from airport and less than 5 minutes from central Ponta Delgada.
