Have to remember it’s a Bed and breakfast, it’s an old building; Agustino, the host, is very attentive and helpful, his father is very sweet and setup breakfast every morning. The rooms and building can totally use a renovation, but it is clean and just perfect for a quick stay to sleep and have breakfast.
Really nice host. The bed was very comfortable.
It was great to have a breakfast option and we were pleased with it. Owner was very knowledgeable and offered suggestions for us in the area. The bus was close by so convenient for us. We also got moved to a nicer room with a pretty view.
Great Place to Stay when in Florence
We had a pleasant stay. Augostino was a great host, very helpful and gave great recommendations on what to do in the Florence area. The breakfast was good: it consisted of croissants, fresh fruit, cheese, salamis, toast, yogurt, cereal, and eggs. During our stay, a water pipe broke somewhere in the neighborhood, leaving us with no water for 24h. Augostino handled it well with providing us with several water bottles, providing updates from the City of Florence, and waived the city tax for the inconvenience. The bed and breakfast is in a quiet residential place. We felt like locals while was nice! It’s about a 10-20 minute walk from the touristy stuff, which was good to walk off the gelato and pasta. Part of the walk is on a steep hill, so it may be challenging for people with mobility issues or for those who don’t want to walk uphill. I would recommend to stay here.
Lovely property and owner is very helpful and friendly. It took us about 30 minutes to walk into the city centre.
We loved the location, easy transportation to the city center or an enjoyable walk. The room was charming, clean and efficient. The owner was attentive and kind, check in was easy. The shower was fantastic. Breakfast was delicious. I would stay here again.
Our stay at the Sangaggio house was ok. It was a quiet area without worrying about driving in ZTL zones with free parking. About a 30 minute walk to Florence city center. The Good: Free parking Augustino does have a laundry service for $5eu Breakfast included and the fresh made pastries daily were nice Nice restaurant down the street Augustino and his dad were hospitable Wifi works well The Bad: The room was not very sound proof. The people next door and to the side were quite loud and you hear everything outside of the rooms The entryway and hallway have an odor to it that is hard to describe, it does not smell in the rooms though The bed was ok and everyone has they opinion on beds but it was firm and older feeling. Overall, I think our stay was nice at Sangaggio but there is room for improvement.
Nice little place that has a country home feeling, rooms that are facing the street could be noisy in the morning during garbage pick up. Luckily is was not hot enough to use the AC because it was not working. Theo, Atlanta GA
Handy hotel close to town
Nice hotel. We’re were met at the gate. Interestingly though, the young man who greeeted is did not offer to help take our bags up the stairs so we had to make 3 trips, but maybe that’s what they do here in Italy. Anyway other than that it was a comfortable room and we slept well. A bit noisy from other guests moving around in the room above but we were so tired we slept anyway. Florence is a cool city so we spend most of our time out. Only real gripe, and it is really more of a country thing, but everyone in Italy smokes where they like, ( especially in restaurants), and consequently, as every 3rd person seems to smoke, everything smells like cigarettes including the hotels, clothes etc. Other than that it was a nice enough place to sleep for a few days.
This B and B is very nice. A little outside of the main area of Florence. If you want to be directly in the city not the closest but we didn’t have any trouble getting anywhere by bus. The owner is awesome! He helped us figure out the keys many times, made us breakfast when we had to leave ridiculously early, and answered all of our questions. Also the air conditioning worked great! Cooled the room down super quick when we were there in August.
Last resort
I am not sure how this place is so well reviewed. Firstly, it's objectively not comfortable due to toilet/shower noises from other rooms waking you up. The bed is far too soft and we both had bad backs after the first night (we even considered going elsewhere for the second night). The bathroom was not clean according to my girlfriend. Then there's the service from the owner which is more subjective. To us, when we ask for something simple like a blanket, we don't need a lecture on how we should be using the room. We also shouldn't need to ask twice. To be fair, the location is decent, a bus is nearby and relatively frequent. The breakfast is good and the terrace outside is nice. At the end of the day, if you can't sleep in a hotel, what's the point? Would recommend you avoid.
Satisfied
Ogostino was very helpful and flexible with checkin/checkout. Nice breakfast, clean room, inexpensive.
Comfortable and Clean
This was a last minute booking as we were on the road and decided to spend the night in Florence. When we got there we were greeted by the Hotel operator, who was very helpful and stayed around for a chat, even though it was quite late. It was only a quick stop over, but the room was lovely, with a big double window overlooking the street.
Nice B@B. Breakfast was yummy and staff very nice
Great place!
Return visit to Florence
We enjoyed our 4 nights stay very much with friendly staff and comfortable bed and room. If ever back in Florence would return for sure.
Lovely service in Sangaggio
Angostino was a lovely host. This B&B is in a walkable location and the courtyard is very lovely. The only downside would be that given being an older house, it freaks a good bit and you can hear the noises on the lowest level of all of the moving on the above floor. Bottom floor not great for light sleepers like myself but the B&B itself is really lovely. The fresh baked goods during breakfast were a huge bonus. Very tasty!
Wonderful place to stay
Staying at Sangaggio House was a good choice- away from the hustle of Florence, but stilll accessible. The view from our windows of Florence was beautiful, with trees in between. While you can walk into town (about 1/2hr) , I would not walk back- too steep at the end of a hot and busy day. We mainly caught the 36 &37 buses from/ to Sangaggio 5. Bus 11 also works (slightly different route). Agostino and his lovely parents were there to help and please in anyway. The rooms were made up daily- crisp white sheets. A small fridge was provided and the room had air-conditioning. Bathroom was good, had a great view, particularly at night. Breakfast was downstairs, either indoors or out. Good continental selection with at least 3 different home made cakes by Agostino every day. We felt very welcome there, just like a friend of the family. Several good local restaurants close by,as well as a small supermarket. Would highly recommend and given the chance would stay there again !
Nice hotel
Nice hotel with good facilities. Host Augustino is very friendly. It's a little far from the city centre.
Great stay, beautiful b&b
We had a wonderful stay at sangaggio b&b. The room was great, the owner was lovely and we felt very welcome and taken care of. It was pretty close to the boboli garden and the city
Fare assessment
I believe this hotel is over rated, location of the hotel is on top of hill which very difficult to access without your own vehicle. When we arrived at night the property manager was very roud to us however later became friendly but we choked at the begining with his response to us
Amazing Find!
This was a fabulous find! The owner is very attentive and ready to help in any way. The beds and rooms were very comfortable. Best air conditioner on our 10 day trip of Italy. Breakfast was great, plentiful, and typical of Europe. Cappuccino and espresso are available upon request with your breakfast. The hotel was next to several bus stops, ATMs, and mini markets. The area had plenty of affordable and delicious restaurants. Parking was free! Overall, it was a wonderful place to stay! We hope to be back!
Great
Quiet. Very friendly staff. Great breakfast. Nice view.
Super Sangaggio!
Superbly comfortable, historic house, attentive and helpful owners that made our stay very good. Very clean room, lots of guidance to find our way around Florence. Breakfast selection excellent, especially homemade pastries and cakes!
Facinating Friendly Firenze
Agostini and his family were very accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Sangaggio. The homemade cakes were a bonus.
It' s very close to the main attraction.
So close to the main attraction is great. Good place to park your car if you are driving.
Bit far from town
Staff were very helpful although would probably stay closer to the city next time. Room was clean and tidy.
We only stayed one night, but the staff was very helpful with restaurant recommendations and calling cabs for us. We had to leave very early in the morning to catch a flight, we found a breakfast bag tied to our door that had fresh fruit, homemade cakes and bottled water. Very thoughtful and considerate, not to mention delicious. Wish we could have stayed longer.
It was okay. Not clean but had air conditioning?
Staff was moody and not very welcoming. Difficult at a B & B when you are in their home and you feel like an inconvenience to them.
Best kept secret in Florance
We loved our stay . Close enough to everything but out if the hustle.
Excellent B&B in Florence
Sangaggio exceeded our expectations in everything. We arrived in Florence exhausted after a long drive through the Tuscan hills and were promptly checked in. We even got upgraded to a beautiful, spacious room. The staff there was fantastic and helpful, he gave us tips to get around the city. The hotel had free parking for our rental car and we could walk into the city easily which was a huge bonus. Breakfast was wonderful with toast, croissant, ham, cheese, jam, yoghurt, cookies, cakes, etc...I especially love the chilli salami and the Bellissimo apple cake. I even got given the recipe for this cake that now I can't go without, thank you so much :) The hotel is so clean, wonderful staff, great location, free parking, free wifi, yummy breakfast...we couldn't ask for more. Thank you Sangaggio, hope to come back and stay again.
Very good location was quiet and out of the way.the price reflects that this is out of center town a little longer walk or public transit useful with which they are very helpful. The breakfast was great with homemade cakes and desserts. The coffee in Italy is small or specialty not geared to Tim Horton size which we are used to. You need to go to McDonald's for a McAfe for what we are use to. The bathroom is a weak point in this room. Uneven floor small shower for large persons the way the door opens and uneven water temp during shower.minor drawbacks with the old style charm of the house
Augustino and his family took very good care of us. They helped us with doing laundry and others things such as getting train tickets and even going to great lengths to get a taxi for us on the morning of departure when they were all on strike! We enjoyed their hospitality.
Bella San Gaggio B&B
Our host Agustine was great. He was truly interested in helping us have a great time. He called up and made our reservations for the tour we wanted and told us about spots to visit that are not as well known to visitors. The room was very clean with Private access to the garden right through our patio doors where we could sit and have morning coffee. Breakfast was also very good with a variety of juices, pastries, cheese, breads, cold cuts, and yogurts. Ahhh the Bella vida!
Nice B&B
Great B&B. Be aware this is a minimum 30 min walk to the centre of Florence. Nice and safe walk so no problems there. Parking is available. Simple breakfast. A nice place to stay.
Quiet Small b&b close to city centre
We did not get the warm welcome we expected. We also had the worst room in the house I.e very small and dingy. Our host was again disappointing although the rest of the staff were very helpful. The walk to the city was a bit long but we enjoyed it. We recommend learning some reasonable amount of Italian before going to Italy. Makes life much easier and more pleasant.
Great location, felt so welcome
Fantastic location which enabled me to walk into Florence or take a bus. The family was warm and welcoming and as a solo lady traveller I felt safe and secure. Loved the rooms particularly the downstairs triple room which was quiet, comfortable and cosy. Great beds too. Nothing was too much trouble for Agostino, Donatella his mum and Luciano his dad. Good breakfast and a lovely garden off the dining area. I will definitely stay there again.
A beautiful house in a beautiful city
Very comfortable room, excellent facilities. Good breakfast with a lovely garden available to eat it in. Very helpful owners/staff. Nice, quiet neighbourhood and the city and its wonderful attractions are within comfortable walking distance, though it is also well served by local buses.
Great quiet location
Great place to stay when in Florence. The host was very accommodating and the food was delicious. It was a little bit of a walk from the train station but can be easily gotten to by bus or taxi. The location was in a quiet neighborhood.
Sangaggio House B&B Excellent Choice
The owners of Sangaggio House B&B were very friendly and helpful. They gave excellent advice on sightseeing, the bus routes and called a cab for us. The House is charming and the neighborhood is quiet. We were able to walk back from the Pitti Palace after dark and felt very safe. The room was spacious and clean! We highly recommend Sangaggio House B&B! Paul and Marlene USA, Sept. 2015
A wonderful Florentine B&B experience
Our room, the common room, and the garden patio were beautiful and very clean. We arrived in the early evening and Augustino surprised us at the bus stop because he was concerned we didn't fully understand the directions to the B&B. Throughout our stay, he was very helpful in planning our time in Florence, helping us figure out bus schedules, museum hours, and suggesting practicalities for maximizing our time in Florence. We enjoyed being in a quieter, residential part of Florence within easy walking distance of the heart of town. I'd estimate 15 minutes to the river. We like walking but also found it convenient to take the bus since there is a bus stop approximately a 3-5 minute walk from the B&B. We also enjoyed the excellent, award-winning dining options within a 5-10 minute walk of the B&B. Aside from Augustino's guests, we seemed to be the only non-Florentines dining there and the food was delicious! The provided breakfast was also substantial with fruit, meats, cheese, cereals, and homemade cakes. Overall, a wonderful experience and we would definitely return if we are fortunate enough to visit Florence again!
Excellent choice for Florence
Stayed for one night and were surprised by the great service and lovely location
History vs comfort
The B&B is beautiful building away from the hustle and bustle of the city and that was nice. The room was well maintained but the bed was uncomfortable and the air didn't do much cooling in the middle of summer. The man in charge was not very welcoming nor helpful to us. In his defense he never seemed to be around and we hadn't paid for the breakfast so we didn't exchange a lot of time.
Beautiful and friendly
Agostino and his family were great hosts and we had an amazing time staying at their B&B. This stay was recommended by a friend and we were not disappointed. We enjoyed the stroll into Florence each morning and were delighted by the breakfast choices that Agostino stays up late to create. We found him to be very friendly and enjoyed his company in the evenings. We would highly recommend staying here if you require a comfortable and affordable place to lodge whilst visiting the beautiful city of Florence!
Easy walking distance to Historic area in Florence
Lovely place in Florence, the owner was extremely helpful and even drove into the town the day we arrived. Agostino was very friendly and his family were there in the mornings to serve us a lovely breakfast in the garden. Homemade cakes every morning. He carefully wrapped some up for our onward journey too. Very happy to recommend this place, I wish him good luck for the future!
Love it!!! Love it!!! Love it!!!
Let's put it like that I will go back to Florence just in order to stay there again. Augustino was amazing, the level of customer service, the caring and he's willingness to assist in outstanding. My girlfriend and I drove out of Florence and we kept on talking about this place for an hour. He sent us on our way with a plate of cake and croissants:) and the room was great as well with a beautiful view. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!!
Nice home away from town
The owners are lovely people who are very willing to make your stay as comfortable as possible; however, be prepared to be a 40+ minute walk (hike) from the main attractions around Florence. The bus stop is conveniently close and can take you into the city within 15 minutes but may be tricky using on the way back. Our bedroom was located right outside the breakfast area/living room, which took away from our sense of privacy because we clearly heard noises/conversations from inside our room. For a quick weekend in Florence we would chose a more centrally located hotel, but if you want to get away from town this is a consideration.
Beautiful place!!
We really enjoyed our time at the San Gaggio House. A beautiful house, with everything we needed. Amazing staff, very helpful and accommodating. Easy walk into city, but lovely and quiet, removed from the hussle. Would definiately stay again or recommend to others!! Grazie!!
Great place
Wonderful little bed and breakfast with pretty rooms, friendly staff, and delicious breakfast. Excellent value
A nice, relaxing spot in Florence
Sangaggio was a wonderful welcome to Florence. The owners are friendly and went out of their way with helping us with suggestions and bookings. The breakfast was delicious with a variety of cheeses and home-made deserts. It's half a mile to Porto Romana (cf. Inferno) and the walk through the Boboli Gardens was a nice start to our tour followed by cappuccinos at the Palazzo Pitti. There is a close bus stop which quickly takes you to the main train-and-bus station; however, each day we walked into Florence, getting up early in the morning to enjoy the fresh air and crossing the Arno on the decorative Ponte Vecchio. Our room window looked toward the city but we were too far away to be disturbed by the noise. Breakfast was either inside or outside on a quiet porch. We spent a few nights outside just reading and watching the fireflies.
Sangaggio House B&B | Hotel in Florence | Travala.com
It was interesting and charming experience. The place is family run in an old house with character rooms. The rooms were nice and very clean. Bed was comfortable with expensive good quality linens. We had nice view from our window. Father, mother and son were all nice and helpful if to provide tips and suggestions. We had three mornings with breakfast where all family serve itTeh father was especially nice offering something different every morning to try new, be it specific cheese from different region or cake. Parking is problem next to the house but there is free street parking 5 or 10 minutes away by walking and the owner pointed it out to us and we used it The place is a walking distance down the hill to teh city limits (Roman gate where is also an entrance to Boboli gardens (10 min) and another 5-10 minutes walking to Ponto vechio and Uffi gallery and centre. You can use buses from down town to come up the hill..
