City view have trains right outside. White noise machines help. But the shunting is real
I enjoy the convenience of the restaurants and also a beautiful park across the street however there was a broken mirror and broken chair in my room and I had to wait for 20 min to cross the train tracks to get back to the hotel, however the staff were helpful and very friendly
Great stay in Kamloops
This hotel was a pleasant surprise. We loved everything about the hotel and our stay. Loved the free underground parking garage. Nicely appointed lobby with friendly staff. We were upgraded to the river/park side and had no train noise issues. Nice room, big bathroom, sofa, comfortable bed. And all for a good value price. This stay beat the competition by a lot.
Always good, Love staying there.
No sandals and toothbrushes provided
Travelled with a pet , very accommodating. Location work well
Just love this hotel chain and really appreciate the Kamloops Staff that always makes the stay even better.
Overall a really good hotel, good restaurant attached to the hotel called moxies. Staff very friendly and attentive to our needs.
We used to stay here all the time when coming to Kamloops to see family, but the hotel has gone downhill quite a bit. There was garbage in the hallways at night and it was still there the next day after 1 in the afternoon. The toilet paper roll was less than half full and the laminated brochures they leave in the rooms were all bent and torn. The bed and pillows were comfortable, but there was visible water damage in the bathroom. The person who checked us in charged the room deposit twice and had no idea how to release the hold. Dont think we'll stay there again.
Good
Good
Restaurants right in the hotel.
Definitely be returning
Food was good. Staff were pleasant and accommodating. EVERYTHING WAS SPOTLESS. So refreshing to have it clean to my standard.
Nice hotel, our room was a good size, nice bed, kitchen & bathroom, nice mountain view, the only thing was the air conditioning units kept turning on & off the whole time we were there, as not used to having that noise, the pool & spa was fantastic & was in a good location to what we were doing in the area.
Pet friendly!
Very nice hotel. The staff were very accommodating. Travelled with my dog, so I stayed in a et friendly room.
Nice big clean room. Two thumbs up
Friendly staff to help you get the most out of your stay
Amazing property and definitely coming back here to stay in the same suite next time I am in Kamloops.
Room was lovely. Some of the fixtures needed maintenance. We enjoyed our stay.
Friendly guy at check in. Rooms a little beaten - but we’re here for kids hockey and the hotel obviously has steady hickey kids traffic through it. Good for our purposes this trip.
Over rated / over priced hotel.
Room was a big disappointment especially for the price. Renovation is overdue. Wall paper peeling in several places throughout room, baseboards badly water damaged in bathroom and chipped/marked up throughout. Carpet dirty and frayed, thermostat had no power to it, window blinds in the room broken and wouldn’t roll up. Once in the lobby the hotel is nice but hallways and room are far from a 4 star hotel and the price they charge. A disappointing stay!
Close to everything downtown
Enjoyed our stay. We had a great night
Unexpected visitors
We thought it was ok. After we came back from the pool we accidentally went to the wrong floor walking up the stairs and our key card opened up another suite on another floor. We first thought we turned the lights off in our suite because we left the lights on in ours and that’s when we realized we had walked into the wrong suite! When we went back up to our floor we used our card on another room just to see and it opened that room too. We went back to our room and locked all the doors and thought we just have been given some sort of master key. Not very safe and kind of dangerous if we were not honest people. We have never had that happen anywhere we have ever stayed and we stay in a lot of hotels.
Nice building with original views on both sides. Many good dining options close by.
I have the king room with a couch. Nice and comfortable. Room is clean. Would stay again.
Great staff very accommodating walking distance to amenities
Great location to the arena and two restaurants . Sharks club and moxies attached
Dirty, cracks in walls, yellow and brown coloed shower grout thay made me not want to use it. small room for a "king size" room. Guy at front desk was very nice and patient.
Great staff helpful polite, clean beautiful suite
Nice room, central location
Staff was great but the room was very banged up. Beds were lopsided. Not very clean. Disappointed considering it’s a signature sandman.
Stayed 2 nights on a work trip and found it was an easy walk for good dining. The hotel also has dining opinions ( moxies and the Shark club ) and the arena is close to catch a WHL hockey game. Would definitely stay again. Only downfall is the hotel is very close to the train tracks.
A lot of noises inside my room from the train passing in front of the hotel
Excellent hotel, so clean and beautiful with a great view and wonderful friendly staff
Very central and easy to walk downtown
City view includes train noise all night if they are operating
Hotel is getting run down.we booked the jacuzzi suite - tiles missing, dirty, shower base was painting looked terrible, windows had face prints, elevators filthy dirty, buttons are coming off. Will not stay there again
Perfect place to stay!!
Enjoyed stay
Nice room, terrible breakfast
Room was comfortable, however breakfast experience was poor. You eat in the lobby area (right in front of the door) and when there is more than 4 people up to get food it is too crowded and you are bumping into each other. The most annoying part was that a staff member serves you the “hot” breakfast. She gave everyone 1 scoop of home fries (literally 10-15 pieces) and 1 sausage. If you ask for a second or third, she reacted poorly, like you were taking her food. Lastly, they give you what most people would consider to be a beer ticket (or 50/50 draw ticket from a hockey game) to put on your dash to validate your parking. Not to mention that it is red and difficult to see when on your dash at night. These are minor things, but not what I expected from this hotel chain.
City view is facing the train tracks. There were a lot of trains. No horns but you hear the crossing signals and rumble. Room was clean, TV is outdated with poor picture quality. King bed was comfortable. Lots of plug ins including USB built into a charging center on the desk. Bath towels are due for replacement, kinda crunchy instead of soft and the bathroom could use come maintenance. Nothing major, well except the chip in the shower door, but noticeable small things like the caulking and baseboards. Overall was a good stay and would stay again. Walking distance to downtown for food and shopping. Has a Moxies attached to it.
Did not get room booked. The place was dirty and broken down. The jacuzzi had not been cleaned for ever. Broken door access yo pool.
At check in it wasn't explained to me the housekeeping policy, I was there was four days and my room never got cleaned. I saw the housekeeping staff working on the floor and on the second day, asked them for fresh towels which they were very friendly and compliant about. Should I have booked housekeeping to do the room when I checked in? The other problem was that two out of the four days I stayed there, the fire alarms went off, first time at 1:30 am and we all evacuated (I was on the fifth floor) and second time on my last day at 5:40 AM (fortunately they stopped before I had to get up and get dressed and evacuated). In both cases, they were something to do with the nightclub or restaurant but in both instances they seriously disturbed my sleep. The big problem about not having my room done was that I never got the coffee cream etc supplies replenished. I also think you should provide bottled water either at a cost or for free in the rooms. The air conditioner was noisy but I didn't really need it because it was October. The staff all looked like mainly international students but not what I would call seasoned or experienced in hospitality management. However I did find the front staff very friendly and they really tried to be helpful.
This would have been great if there was a bottle of water in the room to drink. Perhaps they are proud of their drinking water - put in a sign. There was a fire alarm at 05h20 which was not fun, and the fire system does not include, apparently, a PA system. Disconcerting.
So-So
Staff friendly. Food at Moxie’s was excellent. Decor in room tired & furniture very lived in … needs updating. Near a very active train system. Downtown area around hotel lacks vitality.
Air conditioning did not work. Was awake all night due to trains
Great location next to the riverside park! Perfect service!!
Nice and quiet if you choose park view!
My fridge was not plugged in
We had a wonderful stay. The staff were always smiling and super friendly. If we had any questions they answered them quickly. If I had any negative feedback it would be that the hot tub and pool area needed to be cleaned a little more often. We plan on going back in a month and going to stay there again! A 5 star stay for sure! Thank you!
Very good
Location near centre of town however we asked for quiet room on river side of hotel which was fulfilled NP but the other side faces railway tracks…..I hope they installed soundproof windows.
Hair in the bathtub and dirt and stains on the bedding. Did no good to ask the front desk, they said they were fully booked. Also took about 10 minutes for someone to come to the counter and check me in.
Location was great!
Close to active rail line.
Easy check in, good parking, clean facility and we were comfortable and satisfied with our stay.
Make sure you get a “park view” room. The city view rooms are plagued by trains shunting
We were particularly impressed with Yogesh and his knowledge on how to get things done. Very very helpful and personable. Keep him on board. 😊
Enjoyed our stay at Sandman. Had excellent dinner and breakfast at hotel. All Staff were friendly and efficient. Room was fairly small.
Loved this property will come back again!!
Don’t book unless they guarantee water side room..room on city side the train goes through the room… bed even shakes
I was surprised at how this property has slid downhill in only a few years. Clearly ownership is putting next to no effort into the upkeep of what was a pretty nice property when new. Too bad.
Everything is within walking distance!!
Great hotel right downtown
Hotel is right downtown, so close to restaurants and shopping. It is right next to the main railway tracks, so the one side of the hotel facing the city can be a bit noisy. Hotel has been nicely maintained, and the rooms are very clean. Would stay here again.
Beautiful property, two excellent restaurants accessible in the hotel. The room was nice, touch-up paint wouldn't hurt in some places. Overall a hotel I would come back to.
Our first night at the hotel was on Saturday and that evening there was an event on downstairs in the Sports bar. We were hoping to get a good night slept as we had to get up early the next. However, this event had very loud music pouring out of both the inside & outside speakers. We were hoping by midnight it would finish, but in the end the music stop around 2:00 the next morning. Then you had all the drunken people coming out of the event, shouting and screaming. Eventually, got to sleep at around 3:00 and we had to wake up at 7:00 for a trip. We were exhausted and tired. If we had known the hotel were more interested in there party guests and not the hotel guests we would have gone elsewhere! Also, the room was not clean, everything looked grubby and needed a good deep clean. We have stayed it a lot of hotel and this one l am afraid to say was one of the worst we have stayed in! I think the management team need to evaluate what they think is more important, the hotel or events!
The carpet in the room and aisle are dirty. Train noise can be heard at night
Very loud night club on ground floor blasting out noise until 2am. Awful night. Don’t stay here
I thought the room was really small. As soon as I went in the room I noticed there was no bathtub so I called the front desk. The person on the phone said they would check if there was a room with a tub. Unfortunately, I waited and no one called me back. I then called 2 more times and finally was told I would have to pay more for a room with a tub. I think I should have been told that right away.
Room wasn’t always done even with the sign on door requesting service put out before 10am
None
No complaints about the hotel - the area around isn’t really the best but the hotel is really good.
I was very surprised at the cleanliness of the hotel staff were amazing room was above satisfaction.
Noisy hotel due to the train outside the hotel. Convenient moxie and shark club restaurants but not worth the value
The only reason I am giving this property a 3 star rating is due to the clogged bathroom tub. I hate having a shower and having my feet in water.
Hallway carpets were dirty and employees walked past plates some people left in front of their doors. No towels at the pool.
Very run down, old rooms not a lot of pride in their operations
We stayed at the property 2 nights. Second night we had to move units. All good. Moxies was tasty and some homeless person pulled the fire alarm. We also had a thunderstorm that blew things all over the hotel parking lot. It was an eventful stay.
Great trip
Nice an clean and quiet ( if you have a park view room)
In my opinion, bad location in terms of public safety. I also found the hotel quite run down.
I did not realize when booking that this hotel was right next to a busy cargo railway. And it was very noisy at all hours, day and night. I understand that the hotel cannot do much about the railway noise. But I think it is worth being aware of this before booking. I had also requested an upgrade to a jacuzzi room online. When i got there I was told that I had not clicked the confirmation, even though I had the confirmation email. The facility itself was ok. The room was big and clean enough, but the fixtures were a bit old. Some of the night lights did not work and the blinds were a bit shabby. But since we were only staying the one night, we did not make a fuss about it.
We had a short window of sleeping (between 4pm - 12am) and after driving for 10 hours, unfortunately the fire alarm went off sometime around 7pm for quite some time, and continued sporadically for around an hour. I’m sure for most guests this is a minor inconvenience especially during the day, but for a quick rest before continuing a road trip it really sucked.
Very nice check in lobby. Rooms are nice, big and with ceramic coffee mugs as well as take away cups.
a night in kamloops
this room need an upgrade pronto!...tile in front of the tub is falling apart and the shower floor did not look clean making my decision to shower would be at the next hotel i stayed at. the glass of the juliet type of balcony needs more than a wipe of a rag...they need a good clean. staff were excellent and the bed was very comfortable.
Very noisy area. Train tracks are just behind the property. The rooms were run down.
one night in kamloops
this room definitely needs an update due to the broken tile on the bathtub side to the shower and the juliet balcony raining windows need a better cleaning than with a rag. bed was very comfortable and the reception on arrival were excellent.
Great hotel and great staff, especially Michaela and Ximena
.
Clean hotel
Decent place to stay, loud with train and construction.
Property was acceptable . The room was a little older in appearance with some water damage being evident in the washroom
Close to sites
The hotels outdated. The AC doesn't work. The sinks don't drain in the bedrooms. The beds are extremely soft and uncomfortable.
Very nice stay, close to everything.
Good hotel
Great room. Parking to check in was a challenge. The price for one night was pricey. Otherwise good hotel by downtown.
good
On arrival at check in credit card for 750$ two nights and incidentals, in room curtains won’t open or close part way up and too small for window size (shabby job of fixing) wi fi Off line each morning requiring trip to front office each morning. Go for a walk in the lovely park upon return locked out because of screw up at front desk.wait 30 minutes for maintenance to take 6 attempts to reprogram The door to the room Now the best part is the absolute Constant noice on the so called city view side HORRIBLE

Stayed overnight before heading up to Sun Peaks to ski. The hotel was right next door to the ice hockey arena and across the road from parkrun. Dinner at Shark Bar and breakfast at Moxies were great.
