Amazing hotel compound. Uber eats delivery to reception no problem. Was colonial era rancher’s property. Large green area.

A gem. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are clean, and the breakfast was great with fresh fruits, breads cheeses, and several hot items. It is a 15 minute drive from the airport but the hotel provides a shuttle every hour. It was just lovely.

I already submitted a review, then came back and stayed one more night. The room had a dehumidifier in it. For good reason. A lot of moisture and smelled like mildew. It was cold so we grabbed a blanket from the closet. So stinky with mildew. This room was 108, our previous room was 816, no mildew or complaints. Don’t expect a spa treatment, don’t think too many people order them and when I wanted a facial, they tried to get their staff to work… no takers.

It’s so beautiful! The trees are amazing. Birds everywhere and Llamas roam the grounds. The food is delicious and the staff are extremely friendly. Carlos is a great waiter and super friendly. They pick you up from the airport and will take you back. Luggage storage too!

We had to leave at 3 am and were cheerfully accommodated by the staff.

We checked in late at night and the staff made it quick and easy to get in to our room. We woke to a stunning view of the grounds, alpacas grazing, and flowers blooming. The breakfast is delicious, there’s a treasure hunt for kids, a relaxing steam room, and plenty of water stations to refill your bottles. Would stay again!

The grounds were beautiful. The breakfast was wonderful. The room was very comfortable. The shuttle to and from the airport was a bonus.

Lovely well appointed hotel. 15 minutes from the airport with beautiful gardens and pools and jacuzzis. The staff were so helpful and friendly. The food was excellent. The rooms were large and clean and comfortable beds with pillow options. Alpacas roam freely in the beautiful gardens. An oasis. They made us picnic breakfasts to take away on our tours. So peaceful there. Great security too.

Great location, great service and very clean!

The property is beautiful and absolutely worth the money. I did not give 5 stars because I attempted several times to contact the hotel ahead of time and again after I arrived at the airport. I never received a response. Fortunately the taxi stand rep contacted them for me -after quite a while - and arranged transportation to the hotel.

Beautiful authentic boutique hotel. I had to stay one night on my way to Galapagos and did not want to stay at one of those chain modern places. This hotel is very charming, with hammocks outside and place to walk safely on the property. Bonus airport transfer included. Onsite restaurant open till 10PM with great food.

Great location near the Quito airport! I loved the peaceful property, professional staff, and the personalized transportation back and forth to the airport. Highly recommended if you want to relax and rewind after flying into Quito.

Lovely place to stay in between flights from the Quito airport. The grounds are beautiful, the property charming and perfectly clean, and the staff went out of their way to make my stay pleasant. I enjoyed the breakfast and excellent transportation to and from the airport. Highly recommended.

Just a wonderful glamorous old mansion run professionally with no short cut, breakfast was great and shuttle on time, loved it I’ll stay again on my way back from Galapagos.

The landscaping in gorgeous; the trees, flowers, places to walk. I love birding here and the peacock, alpacas! Quiet enough at night. Super nice staff. Fantastic breakfast buffet.

This historical building was great to stay in and very comfortable. We had major problems contacting the hotel and arranging shuttle pick up but it worked out in the end.

Último minuto de reservar por motivo de viaje, pero fue una excelente opción, lo amé. La habitación, igual que el lugar súper cómodo y su staff es demasiado amable y respetuoso. Aunque no tuve la oportunidad de estar el día completo, ellos ofrecen desayuno y también dentro de la hacienda tienen unos buenos tips para hacer como paseo en caballo por medio de la finca, entre más opciones. Lo único q recomendaría es q pongan una mini nevera en las habitaciones. Después de todo eso sigue siendo un 10/10

Beautiful resort near the airport. The grounds are amazing and the gym is probably one of the best equipped gyms I have seen in my travels. The staff are great and the breakfast is good. If you have to travel into Quito it will be ~$25 for the taxi, a little bit less coming back. Be prepared to show a taxi driver where it is on the map. I would stay again

Had an xmas party all afternoon and evening. No restaurant service(no dinner for me or any other regular guest's).The special people at the party seemed to have plenty of food and drink)) Was very loud could hear clearly in my room on an empty empty stomach. Also did not pick me up at airport as agreed. I do not recommend this hotel. Stay away at any cost!!!$$$

I liked being closer to the airport for my one-night needed stay here, and the price point was perfect and fair. I don't have any dislikes.

I enjoyed my stay with my family of 5 including children. It is a bit outdated but nothing too serious. I did have an issue with transportation upon my arrival i would just suggest to confirming a shuttle service a couple time before the trip.

At just 20 minutes from the airport, a beautiful place to stay with gardens and greenery. Ideal for kids.

For the airport shuttle, I was told that a taxi driver would meet me at the Quito Airport with a placard with my name on it. That didn't happen, even though I arrived right on-time. However, I spoke with some taxi staff in the airport and it didn't take long to straighten that snafu out. Making arrangements for the return shuttle to the airport was no problem with excellent service. The breakfast at the hotel was excellent, and the rural location of the hotel is peaceful with nice grounds. Of course, the rural location means that it's a long ways to anywhere, but it was only about a 20 minute walk down the road to the Town of Puembo that has a nice plaza. The hotel also has two outdoor pools & both were covered w solar hitting blankets when I arrived, so I was not sure if I would get a chance to swim but they opened the spa pool and had hot tubs too. For Quito, you can also catch the bus right in front of hotel (passes about every 20 to 30 minutes) and ride it all the way to its last stop to the Rio Coco Bus Terminal in Quito. Once at the Rio Coco Terminal, walk over to the part of the terminal where the blue buses are arriving, as near that point is the stop for the 3-cabin electric bus (called a trolley) that you can take to reach the Plaza Milan stop right next to the historic center of Quito. The electric bus travels in a dedicated lane in the middle of a main avenue -- so it is faster than a normal bus.

The property itself was wonderful!! Very quiet except for the planes flying over head once in a while. Very well taken care of, wonderful staff, very helpful and wonderful food. Would recommend to anyone!

I like the staff and the large, beautiful grounds, and the llamas and peacocks running around. And the architecture of the buildings is beautiful. The dining room food was excellent! I was in a casita so had much privacy. The room was clean and housekeeper flexible. I liked that an airport shuttle is provided at no charge when arriving (a man holds a sign with your name on it) and departing - that helps to reduce stress. I was very disappointed that the pool and spa was not available. I booked there because I wanted those amenities. I had a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom so enjoyed that. But it took 20 minutes to fill enough with water to initiate the jets. And controlling water temperature throughout Ecuador was problematic. Overall, I would book again if I knew for certain that the pool and spa is working and available.

This booking was exactly what we needed after 3 weeks of backpacking and staying in hostels. We only stayed one night as a layover in Quito. The main reason for booking this establishment was the airport shuttle. They made it very easy to coordinate both pick up and drop off - we exchanged information on whatsapp and after coming through customs, there was a gentleman with our name on it that arranged our transport! Very easy and very convenient. Our room was beautiful, TV, air conditioning, beautiful garden views with peacocks and llamas eating the grass. There was like 4 different pools there, a full gym and outdoor activities. We had dinner inside the resort and we had a very delicious tenderloin steak between two people. The breakfast buffet was amazing as well. Overall a great stay, we had all our needs taken care of and the value for the price compared to some of the other locations we had seen was well worth it. Treat yourself for sure with the San Jose de Peumbo hotel!

Hidden Gem

The San Jose de Puembo was absolutely phenomenal! It offered fantastic rooms, amazing grounds, and top-notch food. The only constructive feedback is that it is a bit further from the airport than we thought it would be (probably a 20-minute cab ride). However, if we had stayed more than one night, that would not have been a problem. If we go to Quito in the future, we will make sure to stay here again!!

Fantastic place for both adults and mostly for children. Children get safe freedom and they have everything an active child could want. The staff is very pleasant. We were in many places in Ecuador and this was one of three by far the best. Strongly recommend

When the place was renovated they managed to keep the feel of the original hacienda. The landscaping was very good and the ancient trees were fabulous. I really liked this property.

This hotel was fantastic. I wish I had been able to stay more than one night here. Staff was friendly and helpful. The airport transportation was convenient. The restaurant was fantastic and they packed boxed lunches for our early airport transfer the next morning.

I reserved a room with a king sized bed, but it was a Queen sized bed.

Everything was beautiful. The grounds the room the dinner. But I rented it for my last day in Ecuador due to it having a pool hot tub sauna steam room etc the hot tub wasn’t very hot & the other rooms were not turned on. A bit disappointing

this was a lovely place with very nice grounds for relaxing. The facility has character and charm plus a bit of history. But what really stood out for me was the staff! Our reservations were complicated as we had 3 stays over a period of 2 weeks. There was a problem with all but the first reservation (that had nothing to do with them!) and they were able to get it straightened out without too many problems. All of the staff was great and assisted is with our convoluted travels, transportation to and from the airport, storing our "big" bag when we changed environments etc. Even included a boxed breakfast for one particularly early trip to the airport before the kitchen was open!

I was really impress of the beautiful park with magnificent trees and big swimming pool.

This is a garden type hotel with a lot of space. The complex is very safe with gated access. Happy to report that wi fi stayed strong and only dropped once during my stay. Also hot water supply appeared to be good, they heat the water using solar energy which is great. You will need a taxi for everything you may want outside of the complex. Only a few very small stores within walking distance. While the restaurant is quite good, if you want anything else you need a taxi ride to one if the nearest towns (Qumbaya is very nice with lots of dining options, about 25 mins).

Beautiful property and hotel. It’s a little out of the way and hard to find but once inside the property is lovely. They have a nice restaurant and offer airport shuttle except at 8AM. Staff is attentive. Go for the upgraded room, the standard room was only so so.

There are so many fabulous things about this hotel - including the floor staff - but the bosses (who probably have marketing degrees) need a huge kick up their a.ses for not having a system of allocating the most comfortable room available to each and every valued customer rather than driving business away with the current system of leaving the most comfortable rooms vacant and sending loyal customers to less comfortable ones.

Very poor management at the reception

Hotel was comfortable and staff friendly, though they did not speak or understand English, including some at the reception. We had asked "EDDY" at the reception to have a pick up from the airport on our return trip from Galapagos, which he rote on a piece of paper and confirmed verbally, BUT guess what....NO ONE CAME FOR A courtesy PICK UP. We had to hitch a ride with another couple staying at the same Hotel. Very Very disappointed in their management at the reception

Best stay in Ecuador!

Highlight to the end of our trip to Ecuador. Beautiful grounds, impeccably clean, delicious food, comfortable beds, spa was wonderful including steam room, hot tubs, sauna, pool, and treated myself to fabulous massage. cant wait to stay again someday, and cannot recommend enough!

Such a gem! We booked our stay because our flight landed at midnight, and we knew we would need a place to rest after a day of travel. What a wonderful surprise to find such a beautiful and welcoming place!

The room was clean and comfortable, and the property was attractive. Service was very good, and nearly everyone spoke enough English to answer my questions and resolve any issues (apologies for my very poor Spanish).

This hotel is absolutely gorgeous! A hidden diamond! The staff were always so helpful and kind. Even though we don't speak a lot of Spanish, some of the staff spoke English and even if they didn't we were still able to communicate! The property is vast and beautiful. Love love loved it!

Beautiful and spacious complex in odd location

Great, sprawling hotel on a beautiful, quiet campus. Huge lawns with plenty of room for games, sitting on the benches to read or watch the kids, a playground and raised gazebo, and even a couple of llamas wandering around. They clearly try to cater to everyone, including families, but their main guests must be businesses and conferences. Lots of conference rooms, but the hotel is so big and spacious that it never felt very busy. Also an onsite restaurant, bar, and billiards room, and a cafe (but that last was never open when I checked). The only downside is the location. It's basically in the middle of nowhere, and taxi/Uber drivers regularly had trouble finding it. Road signage is present but very easy to miss. And it's more than 20 minutes from the airport (and 40 minutes from downtown Quito). If I was staying for several days, I would definitely stay again because it's such a nice, clean place, and the service was excellent. If you just need to crash for a night or really need to be close to the airport or Quito, probably not your best option.

Pleasant, comfortable and good food

We were stuck in Quito for three days due to protests, and we spent those days at Dan Jose de Puembo. It's a very comfortable and pleasant place to spend a few days. The accommodations were excellent, the gardens were absolutely beautiful, the jacuzzi was great, the service was great and the food was outstanding.

Great place! Really nice and has awesome amenities. What other hotel has llamas walking around the huge garden you can pet? The price is really low too. A place like this in the US would run $200 easily. The only issue is it’s right under the flight path, but that’s the price you pay to have a short, free airport shuttle!
