Our stay was wonderful as usual. Staff is always friendly and welcoming. They are doing some renovations but it didn’t interfere with our stay. This hotel is elegant, but had an old school charm all at the same time.
Liked the historic charm
The hotel is in the heart of Charlottetown and is a stones throw from lots of shopping, food and sights. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room were confyband clean. Always enjoy staying there.
Great hotel and cozy feel staff were very accommodating and room was beautiful !!
First room we were given had not been made up. Second room had issues with bathroom door which would not shut properly. Manager gave us a bottle of wine and a box of chocolates.
Walkable
Excellent location and service
The service is excellent and the location is perfect. Rooms can be a little loud as it is an older hotel so you can hear the next room at times.
Room was very very cold upon arrival. Took over an hour to make it feel warm. No warm blanket or cover on the bed. I asked for a quiet room and was given a room with 2 connecting doors which meant when people came to their room at 2:14 am , drunk and loud, I could hear every word they said. Then I could hear the vacuum in the other room at 7:30am. Very surprised that at this price so many basics were missing. I will never recommend this hotel to anyone.
Relaxing pool too
Friendly professional staff
Loved
The hotel is nice, very clean, small rooms, but very nice. Extremely clean. Only issue was that I got locked in the gym for 30 minutes, the door would not open.
Maybe it will be better next time
Older run down rooms.. you could hear everything from the room next to you. Construction going on at the time of stay.. unhoused persons were going through the metal scrap bin in the parking lot so felt a bit unsafe. Difficult to navigate to the parking lot..
Really nice hotel, great service and food. Walkable to shops, cafes, restaurants, gallery and places of interest.
We had a great stay!
Very good location. Parking a bit challenging with weddings and conventions over the 4 day stay, but street parking free on weekend.
Great hotel in a great city. So much to do and see only steps away and the staff from check in to the lounge to housekeeping was the epitome of PEI friendly.
Nice place!
It’s a beautiful hotel that has kept the old charm. The beds were so comfortable we didn’t want to get out of them. The only problem that we had was that the bathroom was very small and there was no fan. Would definitely stay here again.
The rooms are small, but clean. The building is old and that is reflected in the rooms. The walls are paper thin. I could hear the person in the room singing to themself all night and their being sick after what I suspect was a night of drinking. The staff was warm and friendly. The hotel is walking distance to downtown. The parking is on what appears to be a separate lot behind the building, there is no access from the front of the building except on foot.
Loved the location. Entrance was nicely decorated. Lobby beautiful. Room looked good, but bed and pillows were very uncomfortable. NO coffee in room. Lax housekeeping .... forgot to leave coffee in room, kleenex and was dirty spots on floor. Worst of all... went to check out and asked if we get a coffee to go from the restaurant (remember, none in our room), and he said sure... then came back and charged me just under $8 for two cups of go coffee! THAT, is criminal considering what you pay for a room in this hotel, and that it was YOUR staff that didn't give us any coffee in our room! Wouldn't stay here again.
Classic CN hotel. Iconic!
This hotel is older so the walls are thin. People in the room next door were up until 2am talking, and we could make out almost every word. I asked them to keep it down, an hour later (about 12:30am) I asked the front desk to speak to them, but was told they could not do anything if the people weren't being unruly. Would not stay at this property again.
The rooms and the lobby we see in p
Loved the character of this older building. The location downtown within walking distance of everything. The event coordinator! She was awesome!!!
The hotel is historical and beautiful on the outside and in the lobby. The bedrooms need renovations. It was dark. The bathrooms are small and need to be renovated also. Being located in downtown Charlottetown was the bonus.
Very friendly staff at front desk and in dining room.
I liked the friendly helpful atmosphere, and the staff. Because this facility is relatively costly, it would be appreciated if there was a continental breakfast available. Also there were hair dryers in the room, but they were small and easily caught hair on one end.
quiet
Beautifully kept old building decorated for Fall!
This is a beautiful charming property, very convenient to all things near the waterfront in Charlottetown. The beds were very comfortable. The rooms have been updated with lovely flooring and bedding, although the doors were a little tricky to open with room keys. (The old-fashioned kind of actual key) we managed to figure out the magic spot to make the key turn. There seem to be an issue with the heat when we were there, but the front desk did provide a space heater and were very accommodating. We had breakfast in the restaurant one morning and it was lovely. We didn’t use the pool facilities, but we did take a look and had we had time we certainly would’ve used them. The rooftop patio was lovely and we did spend some time there taking into the views of the area.
Great location
Restaurant staff seemed a little disconnected from the customer. Once an order was taken (if they got it right) they never came back to the table until the meal was ready to be served and then when it was obvious the meal was finished and the bill needed to be given. This was the practice for 3 mornings in a row so chalking it up to a waiter/ress having a bad day doesn’t fly.
Beautiful old hotel. Our room was small but had everything we needed. Nice breakfast. Staff are great. Close to everything.
Not just convenient but excellent service and beautiful hotel !
Beautiful older hotel that has been restored and is frequently preferred as a destination venue for weddings and other celebrations. Location is within walking distance to shopping and dining options. Prince Edward Island and Charlottetown is a great place to vacation.
Have been a guest going back 20 years. Staying there is familiar, friendly and it has a great bar and restaraunt that is wonderful.
The doors to the rooms were difficult to open…almost impossible to open.
Classic, a refresh is needed
All good!
The Rodd is beautiful and elegant at it entrance and lobby. However, our room was in dire need of refurbishment as evidenced by a cracked mirror in the bathroom and a pull out couch that has seen better days. Its location is ideal to wander the downtown area and access to many restaurants.
Room was small but ok. Because of the age of the building noise transfer from the room next door was very load. There was also a wedding being hosted at the hotel which presented other issues. We tried to get into the lounge for a beverage and it was packed with wedding attendees waiting for festivities which probably cannot be avoided. Great walking distance to other amenities and Conferderation Centre where we took in a show. Nice Grand Hotel but it is showing it’s age
Nice hotel property
Good location
Found the property very pretty and old world charm. Was not happy to find our friends travelling with us paid less for a suite (dealt with Rodd direct) then we paid for 2 bed regular room through Expedia.
Property is nice. It has good charm, however is very outdated air conditioning system didn’t work well on a good note. Staff was great when we brought forward. They addressed it the best as they could.
It is a nice and cute property to stay and the location is definitely the best. However, we do have some allergic reactions probably to the dusts on the carpet.
Will not stay here again
Beautiful historic property.
My only complaint is the hot water took a long time to get hot……. It’s a beautiful place
The hotel was great and everything was in close proximity except for the Air Conditioner which was making lot of noise and the shower didn’t have much pressure.
Nice place in a nice place located in a nice area
This is a grand, old hotel in the style of a bygone era. It is in great shape and well maintained. The rooms are different from the hotel rooms we occupy today in the big chains. But overall, we liked our stay.
We like the convenience of the hotel's location. Staff are friendly, helpful and courteous
Classy old hotel!
Very well situated in the center of downtown within walking distance to the Confederation Centre
Good place
It was a nice place to stay in the city. Nice location but not right on the main drag. The room was clean aside from a bit of pink stuff on the shower head. Lots of walkability nearby!
Lovely hotel.
Old building, small space, cold service, nice location
The place was great, great service. The beds are horrendous.
It’s located in downtown Charlottetown. Close to all amenities. Very nice area. A hotel with history.
Stayed as a family of 4. Rooms were clean, but tiny. There’s nowhere to put your luggage. Bathroom was also small, toilet is weirdly close to the wall. No counter top in the bathrooms and shower pressure is quite low. The staff cleaned and accommodated our requests no problem and the location is great. There were very noisy guests next to us as well. We notified the front desk and they told them to be quiet, but it only sort of worked. Free parking was nice. Wouldn’t stay again with kids. Maybe as a couple.
The hotel was located in an amazing area and so close to everything. We really enjoyed that part of it and the service was awesome, however the room was really old and had cracks etc. on the wall and not the cleanest. For the price we would have liked to get more from the room itself, however my wife and I were happy with our overall stay.
Old building charm
Absolutely amazing! So much charm and beauty. Service was good. Rooms are clean and so much character. Breakfast was great!
High end Charlottetown
Back in my hometown for high school reunion. High end place
Isabelle cleaning staff was very friendly, polite and was quick to help! Front desk staff very friendly, great customer service and always smiling! Thank you!
Centrally located, vintage touch... rooms are too small though!
This hotel exceeded expectations. It was great to be able to walk around the local area, leaving the car behind. Loved it!
Pictures of the property do not reflect the real condition and the size m of the room. They are overrated.
We almost always stay at Rodd Charlottetown when visiting PEI. Great architecture and super helpful and friendly staff
The bathroom is terrible. The toilet is about 10 cm or less from the wall. You could tell it was designed by a very skinny man. Otherwise great location, easy access to downtown Charlottetown
We stayed two nights at the Rodd Charlottetown, and it was a pleasant historic hotel. Staff were generally nice and helpful, and the restaurant had some reasonably priced food options. Location was good and the area walkable. Our room was not one of the renovated suites, but it was perfectly fine. Hot water was instant so no problems there. Our tub did have a slow draining issue which we mentioned on checkout. We did experience some varying, inconsistent responses from various staff due to an important issue we had which left us with some questions unfortunately. Also as we were driving to the hotel, someone called saying they would cancel our reservation as they had issues with my credit card. It had been compromised sometime after booking and was replaced so they had the old card on file. No other hotel on our trip did this as I usually present my card on check-in. Luckily we were able to call and clarify things. Overall we had a good stay at this hotel, but due to some unfortunate incidents our stay could have went better. I still would recommend the hotel to others as hopefully our experience was an outlier.
A classic property! This 1930’s CN Hotel has been maintained beautifully and is now run by Rodd Charlottetown. We highly recommend this property as it’s close to all the great restaurants that the Charlottetown downtown core has to offer.
Great historical hotel
Amazing place to stay. Definitely be back
I like the architecture and heritage ambiance. It was so convenient to all sites and restaurants.
The hotel is in a historical building. The rooms are decorated as if we were at the beginning of the 20th century. Such a cool experience!! It’s close to everything you’d wanna visit, max 10 minutes. The AC is quite loud but we slept very well nonetheless. The beds were maybe too much « old style » because they were very short lol.
Great location, beautiful historic building.
Front desk staff were amazing!! Hotel is very clean despite tired ornate decor.
This was the most amazing, beautiful, historic hotel. Very impressed and content with all aspects.
This was the most amazing, beautiful, historic hotel. Very impressed and content with all aspects. 10/10
Have stayed many times in PEI but this is the first time at the Rodd Charlottetown (stayed three nights), would definitely consider staying her again in the future.
It was Victorian and the staff was very nice, it was in the heart of downtown and food was nice. Some construction in front. Room was nice and comfy
Close to all things downtown
Beautiful rooms! Convenient to walk everywhere!
I didn’t like that there was no ice on any of the floors.
Nice old CN hotel, well maintained and in a great location, close walk to the water. Good restaurant. Very welcoming staff.
This was a last minute booking and we were pleasantly surprised! This property was historical and well maintained. The staff were friendly and professional.
Bathrooms small, no ventilation
Clean, quiet.
A lot of things were splendid, such as the pool, the architecture, the staff, the reception, the beds, and cleanliness, etc. However, our AC stopped working a few times, and the WiFi did not reach our room; it was only available in the hallway.
The hotel had a rustic charm, big mouldings/trim, stained wooden doors, keyed locks etc. We had a nice stay, the breakfast was good. The property was clean. The cons were the parking, it’s limited, one night I had to park on the street, there is no fan in the bathroom and the wifi did not work in the room, it worked everywhere else but the room.
Every thing was great.
Unfortunately we stayed at this hotel at the same time as a very noisy disrespectful wedding group. We were not able to get any sleep.
No internet !!! Big PROBLEM Can’t plan next step in our excursion
It was dated and the main dining room was oldish and the ceiling and flight service was dusty and grimy but the beds were very comfortable
I love the property as always but the bathroom was a bit small with a very low toilet and there was construction at the side of the building leading to the rear parking area. But the staff are always pleasant and efficient and I enjoyed the stay.
Lock were bad My daughter was locked in washroom came out after almost half hour to resolve issue Door lock front also not easy to open Won’t stay in future
Beautiful hotel in a perfect location. Would highly recommend.
