Very clean Hotel, but could do even better.

I have been in a vehicle accident early April 3024 and having paid for my stay much earlier on 1st March 2024, I called last week to confirm my booking and made the hotel aware of my injury. I arrived at the hotel this past Saturday to check in and was limping balancing on a hospital crutch, sadly and despite limping with a support of a hospital crutch, I was directed to a room on the 2nd floor, worse, the room was not what I had selected and paid for, we made Bongani at reception aware of this and managed to sorted the room isdue quickly, but I was subjected yet again to the trauma of having to use the staircases again to the 1st floor. Despite my struggle with the staircases while on crutches, your hotel is clean inside and out and seriously deserves a 5 star rating. Your receptionist Bongani was just as welcoming, but could done better than checking me into a room with a flight of stairs and one I've never selected and moving me into another with stairs again, but overall, he was patient and calm, never gave me a reason to make a noise, instead, I remained calm too. He did what he could at that time. Compared to the other City, Road and Country Lodges I had visited before, your breakfast menu doesn't match up, I paid breakfast R130 p/p for 4 x adults and there wasn't a variety to pick from, neither was there muesli to add to the yogurt, hot meat was only mince and just one flavor of juice, we had to go to Spurs next door for a much cheaper and tastier breakfast.

Your service is top teer but the place and design it's as if one is in a backroom. The space is extremely small. No complimentary toiletries.

Excellent stuff, excellent experience

Disappointed

I was very disappointed. I specifically booked at the Road Lodge as I wanted twin beds and it was the only accommodation with twin bed available. We arrived to a room with a double bed. The room smelled like smoke. I spoke to the receptionist, and she said there is nothing she can do as I used an agent. After a long discussion she said she will speak to the manager. The manager was in the office next door, heard the conversation but did not even came out of her office, she just send the receptionist to say there was nothing they could do, the hotel was fully booked. They did not even try to compensate.

All was good only the pillows were terrible

The water pressure of the shower was too low. Was difficult to wash long hair in that shower. Breakfast was a bit confusing. Like the milk was on the one side with the porridge, so to get milk for the coffee I had to walk to the other side. Was also waiting for clean glasses for juice.

The rooms are a bit small and the aircon was noisy. The TV was so small and not clear. Otherwise the place was clean

Never recommend or book again there

Place was neat but the noise at night was too much I even check out a day earlier and went to another place I didn’t even worry about the money I’ve lost.I went for breakfast Friday morning and I love coffee but when I get coffe on the machine only watery stuff came out and only to find out it was not refilled.I told the lady and she took out the bag to the kitchen and too so long to come back I left without having coffee

Towels were hard, bed was hard. Bed side table had stains on it. The receptionist could have been friendlier. But that was about it. Generally well worth it for the money spent.

Road lounge hotel

I only struggled with network and Wi-Fi issues, but I slept well and shower was great. I missed breakfast because I tried reaching reception but couldn't because of data network poor

Family weekend

Everything was lovely but was aware i booked a smoking room. The smell was horrible and pajamas stuck of smoke after a sleep

Good stay. I will just suggest that they put the smokers on level 2 rooms. As the smoker's rooms were on floor level, those fumes and smells was all over the air, in evening on 2nd level, even with the aircon on, the smells were terrible... please management of this establishment, please make a change for the good here. Rest of stay was not bad...

Stay from 10-12 January 2020

Not enough parking on the Friday night. Had to park in front of outgoing gate with onother car. Card to open room had to be re-activated on Saturday afternoon on returning to Lodge.

Location, affordable and clean

This is all you need for a good nights stay. Great location and very clean.

TV Channels POOR

Hi, Please add DSTV channel 144 plus one international news channel. Have you not realized that SABC is dead!

No problems, yet the Saturday evening there was no parking space left, yet the security person allowed me to park my car in front of the exit gate

My stay was relaxing

Clean but needs attention to smaller detail

Stay was good, however the rooms need a bit of attention. The chair was broken and could not be used. The sleeper couch/sofa was also not in good condition to sit on. (room 230). The aircon/heater kept on switching off by itself. Suggestions that makes other accommodation better : Showercaps for females as showers are very small. Bigger helpings of coffee and tea is always a good thing.Complementary bottles of water (1 per person per day) specially in towns with risky tap water. It feels that road lodge is just for sleeping - and for the price one pays.. you expect a little extra.. which is standard a upper class guesthouses... Staff were very friendly .. which was a plus!

The rooms are too small

The beds and pillows are extremely uncomfortable. We ended up paying for two nights but only stayed one. There was only coffee for one person in the room.

Nice, neat and everything I wanted. Lady at reception need to learn about costomer politeness. Honestly did not feel welcome on arrival.

Not for a family

Room very small, noisy, i didnt know if breakfast was included, so i left without breakfast with my kids. Staff not friendly. There was a whole in the comfertor, not professional to give torn bedding to a customer. Only one bag of coffe where given for 2 drinking coffee, no water wher available. So not n very happy stay for me and my children

Sheets and pillow cases were wrinkled and looked unwashed and there was hair in the basin

Great Location, Somewhat Overpriced

The location is perfect if you need access to shops for anything. It is also nice if you would like to walk to a restaurant (several to choose from) or go see a movie. The staff was average. They saw to me needs, but the weren't overly quick to do so. The breakfast is way overpriced - you can get a better one in the mall with less than a 5 minute walk. You can get a small cup of coffee from the machine . . . for R8. Again, better to be had for a short walk. Overall, it was fine, but overpriced.

Budget accommodation

Ideal budget accommodation for short stays. The room is basic but comfortable & clean. The budget breakfast is ok and even includes warm food like mince.

Room fine for a one or two night stay.

This was our first visit. Stayed here for one night, as our usual accommodation wasn't available. Needed to attend a school function. We found the double room to be a bit small for comfort, but it was adequate: comfortable bed, clean bathroom en suite, TV and wifi. However, having a small fridge in each room, and tea/coffee-making facilities would go a long way to making us return for a 2nd visit. Also, it would be great if a member of staff could show first-timers around, and tell them about the free coffee and cake offered in the mornings, or where the pool is, in case they want a swim. Thank you.

Affordable, convenient overnight stay. Room was neat and comfortable. Bathroom needs a revamp: mold against the roof and some shower tiles.

NOT A HAPPY STAY

I took my daughter to University. Had a long day and we needed rest. A good night's rest was defenitely a priority in the room where we stayed. It is opposite the kitchen. There were noises the whole night of cutlery and people talking. I eventually phoned reception and asked them to keep it quiet. It was quiet for a while and then started again. At 04h30 the noises started again while preparing for breakfast I assume. The whole night there were a bright shining light through the window as if it was still daytime. There where also a funny smell in the room when we walked in. I later then realized that when other rooms emptied their basin or bathroom tub ours filled with water. Defenitely a blocked drain or something. It is really not a good thing to put any rooms so close to a kitchen or reception. We defenitely did not have a nice stay although the check-in and receptionists was friendly at all times.

Disappointed

Good stay but requested a 12 noon check out and was told that would be fine, but was chased out with knocks and phone calls at 11. If late check out is not possible don’t agree to it.

Twin Room

A basic road lodge with basic amenities. Good enough for a place to sleep overnight. In desperate need of renovation especially the shower room. The staff were very efficient and welcoming.

Excellently situated next to a large mall,

The staff at the hotel are not trained very well to deal with customers. A smile does make you feel welcomed as if coming to someone's home.

Breakfast too basic. Only meat was cold ham and oily mince (mince for breakfast?). Only SCRAMBLED egg no other choices e.g omlet etc.

Satisfied with a few recommendations.

Lovely address close to everything. The linen was clean but it is a bit old and need to be replaced. The shower need a better clean. I was a bit disappointed that there is no kettle and coffee but the we discovered the very affordable machine in the lounge.

it was pleasing to be in the hotel. I was only there to training so didn't have time to visit the place. I was only going to town to buy something emergent not for touring.

Untidy room

My stay at the roadlodge was average. I am however dissapointed on finding items of the previous guest, such as dirty underwear and trach underneath the beds.
