River Bend was a wonderful place for my trip. I was able to see a variety of wildlife on the property. The hosts were especially accommodating, making sure my needs were met. The river crossing to go out is fun and easy. Kevin, hooked me up with a tour guide, Earl, and we had a blast exploring the area. This is a great landing spot, as it is so close to the airport. If it’s one night or many, and enjoy a more relaxed laidback spot, this is the place.
Relaxing and beautiful
Beautiful location and close to the airport. This was my second time staying here and I'll definitely stay here again if I'm in the area!
Owner was a great resource for the Punta Gorda area!
A Taste of the Jungle
This was a great, more primitive jungle experience. If you're looking for a fine hotel, you'll be disappointed. But the boat arrival, bird sounds at night, and jungle foliage were unique experiences. Breakfast was very limited as well. I wish we would have stayed long enough to take the jungle boat tour they offered.
I would like to request a refund for this night as I absolutely hated this accommodation. It was hideous, unsanitary, overpriced, and the service was disappointing, with photos to prove it. We found insects in the bed, there was double carpeting everywhere (we suspect the first layer was so dirty they decided to cover it rather than remove it), the shower was filthy (we deliberately chose not to use it), there was a pest repellent device in the kitchen, an air conditioning unit stuck in the window, a fire extinguisher on the floor, window screens peeling off, cold breakfast, etc. A moldy smell permeated the entire room: we barely managed to sleep with the windows open. We were charged for airport transportation, even though the website stated it was included. There was no indication that we would have to pay cash for the food we ordered. $200 down the drain. We will never return and will discourage anyone who asks us about this place.
Total rip off
Didn't tell us we needed to board a boat when we booked. Said 2 miles from airport. One of us in a wheelchair and one coming from Africa. Tried to cancel immediately and would not let us. So a total rip off. No refund hence bad review. It's worth it to be honest when advertising
We had to book our stay here last minute due to a flight cancellation, but we were very pleased by the accommodations. The rooms are spacious and clean and are equipped with a kitchenette including gas range, oven, and fridge. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Mr. Kevin and Ms. Janelle were incredibly accommodating and made sure our stay was a pleasant one. I highly reccomend this resort, jith as a vactaion spot but also as a great place to stay overnight before or after a flight through Philip Goldson International Airport in Belize City. 5/5 stars
Excellent staff, good breakfast, very close to airport. Hard to communicate to property management from US.
Surprisingly stunning location. Ashlee was wonderful, and staff was extremely responsive to any minor issues we had. Will definitely return if I visit Belize again.
Cool place, with a boat ride!
Beautiful place and super friendly staff.
The highlight of our stay were a pair of brawling iguanas right in front of our cabin! River Bend is a convenient 5 minute drive from the airport. The staff is exceptionally accommodating, and they went out of their way to help us feel (and be!) safe. It is a rustic location, which was perfect for us, as we are experienced rural travelers. Note that the last leg of the trip involves a 1 to 3 minute boat ride. There is a fully stocked grocery store nearby - once you are on the other side of the river it is a walkable distance, but I recommend that you strongly consider the taxi, as the driver gave us a lot of additional information.
Needed to stay close to airport. Vas convenient. The property arranged for the airport transportation. The river flooded but it looked very pretty. Nice staff
The customer service at this resort is excellent. A rare tropical storm had flooded out the road to this resort, so we couldn’t make it there for our stay. But when I called customer service, they were very easy to work with and gave me a full refund for my stay. I hope to stay here the next time I am in Belize.
Great service and great place! Staff are exceptional, especially Kevin!

We are not new to Belize. Quaint, quirky and sometimes glitchy are part of the charm. River Bend has all these covered. You arrive across the river and Kevin came to pick us up the resort pontoon boat. It is a one minute ride across the river and the resorts friendly dogs are waiting to greet you. Loved it, the dogs are sweet. Kevin took us to our cabana which was spacious and had two queen sized beds. There is a small table but only one chair. The switches are sort of random so it took a while to figure out which one did what. TV came on but never worked. Hot water for the shower didn’t work, then it did for my wife but didn’t for me. Kitchen drawer fell apart. Toilet didn’t flush but I fixed that. The a/c works but sure was loud. The mix of carpet tiles and regular tile was interesting. All of the above can be fixed and we would come back. The location is very convenient due to its proximity to the airport. Unfortunately due to its proximity to the airport it can be very loud. The screened porches are very nice with hammocks that allow you to watch the river flowing by and the birds hunting in the plants along the river’s edge. The office is unique in that they had a pool table and dart board as well as a bar. For dinner we were able to order from the “Brewery “ which had a decent menu selection and decent food but not great food. Kevin was great and took our orders then went across the river to pick up the food and delivered it to our cabana. Try it out.
I loved staying here for my first night in belize. Privacy was amazing, it was so peaceful at night, and the service was amazing!
We liked having to take a boat ride over to the inn. Very unique. Since it was raining so hard we didn't get a chance to walk around. The breakfast was adequate , we had enough to eat.
Cute property on the Belize River and super close to the airport. They have a nice little lobby/bar/hangout area with pool table, tv games, and fishing supplies. Our little cottage was amply stocked with the basic kitchenette items and was clean and spacious.
Property needs to be renovated and can offer a few more amenities.
Great place
The property was so quiet and peaceful! We enjoyed having our pup be able to run around freely with the other dogs on property. The beds and sheets were very comfortable comparable to most places we’ve stayed around the country!! Was overall such a great stay and a great little adventure near the airport. Would recommend!
Bugs galore....hard pass
This property is legit in a jungle with only boat access. The mosquitos were HORRIBLE and bugs a plenty inside the room. A dog that lives on the property pushed its wayninto our room during the night and was less than friendly when i tried to get him out of the room. Very hard to arrange to leave the property for meals, etc. Booked a 2 night stay, left after 1 night.
Nope
I really want to support small, non-chain accommodations, but I cannot recommend this place. It’s called a resort but there’s nothing Resort about it. I stayed in a small cabana that was very rundown. The screen door wouldn’t shut on the porch and so the dogs kept getting in- one even came into my room and I couldn’t get it out. They also howled all night under my cabana The main area was a hodgepodge of old furniture. The grounds had a lot of unfinished projects around, nowhere to walk along the river, nowhere to walk , just sit in your cabin,. It is advertised as having a breakfast, but it was old toast, cold coffee, and a couple of pieces of fruit. Transport from the airport was expensive considering it was a two minute ride from the airport to the boat. Dock . Getting out of the boat was unsafe with no handrails on dock. I’m no diva just bad balance and can be unsteady on my feet . The staff were friendly, so kudos to them.
Avoid
A random night due to a delayed flight that arrived after flights to AC stopped. No free shuttle service, instead a $10US charge each way! Bar was also in USD and double what you'd pay externally, but you're stuck. Room was acceptable, shower decent, AC had to be switched off at night due to the noise. Terry, our pontoon captain, host for the evening and breakfast was exceptional.
Enjoyed a beautiful rain storm in the covered and mosquito proofed deck of our cabana. This is a quaint and beautiful little spot on the river, just minutes from the airport. Just make sure to bring your bug spray since, being riverside and in the jungle, you’ll need it.
This is not a 4.5 sort at all. Someone has told a huge lie about this property. Also, I had to sleep with all the lights on because I saw a lizard run across my room and was afraid of what else is going to crawl across my body in the middle of the night. No central air or laundry service available. I was attempted to leave immediately but didn’t want have anywhere to go. I will not be using Expedia again for bookings.
Great check in
The people were so nice. Very comfortable atmosphere. Met a lovely little dog named Maya.
The staff were all great. Enjoyed the quite and peaceful surroundings.
DO NOT STAY HERE. This place is a dump. Our room was old, the lights flickered when you flushed the toilet, the bed sunk in. No wonder its for sale. It looks like a child made it. The paint was peeling, and the carpet was pulled up and patchy. Beyond that their is no free airport shuttle they charge $10 each way. The kitchen is open 7 am to 10 pm it says, no theres no kitchen. If yoh want food you have to leave and use one of the only taxi drivers that is $10 each way. When we arrived the woman was a sweetheart, carried our bags and aided us to our rooms. We were told we could do a sunset cruise that would start at 5 and go til sunset that was $30/person and it was maybe 30 minutes and WAY overpriced. The only reason i didnt care is because Jimmer was an absolute sweetheart. He made this stay better. Management keep him, he is a gift to you guys. He was knowledgeable, helpful, and very kind. We awoke late in the night to the dogs barking non-stop, so much for sleep. The bugs were horrendous. We woke up in the morning. AND NO ONE WAS THERE. THEY TOOK THE BOAT AND WE WERE ALONE ON THE ISLAND. For breakfast the woman in the common room (that was dingy) looked at us picked up her belongings said nothing and walked in the back. Turns out she was the worker...didnt help us with breakfast and hid in the back. She never spoke to us. When i confronted her about the charges she argued with me (shuttle) didnt resolve the issue and didnt help us load the boat
When we signed up for this location, it said there was a complimentary shuttle to and from the airport...the listing has since changed to say there is a fee. Nothing had been updated since the 1970s. The carpet was so filthy we wouldn't take off our shoes. The bathroom was dirty and the toilet did not adequately flush. When we arrived they told us to make our selves at home and then check in. There was no one to check in with-we waited over 20 minutes. There was only one plastic chair to sit in, so our only choice was to sit on the beds--that were really just mattresses on cots. Don't waste your time or money here. There are lots of locally owned bnbs in Belize with better accomondations. This place was owned by Texans who clearly didn't care about it. The staff did what they could, but clearly they were understaffed and underpaid. We couldn't wait to leave.
Super friendly staff- Room could stand being more clean and in better working condition. AC barely kept up staying cold during the day Kictchenette on the dirty side as was the bathroom Very rustic - one may call it
This place is a relaxing quiet little gem along the Belize River. The evening river cruise was awesome and the staff were so nice and helpful. The property is gorgeous, is a great space to disconnect from the world and connect with nature.
Such a great place!! Staff were so nice and helpful. Taking the boat across the river was so fun!!! The river tour @ 5pm is a must!!!! Nice ac in the hotel, lots of stuff to do and everything was very well kept! Will be back and definitely recommend!
Quaint resort- excellent attendance by staff who coordinated for us the boat shuttle to the property, taxi service and restaurant recommendations
Is just what I needed. Because I traveling south
River is beautiful and the staff was super. Ben was especially helpful and fun
Right on the River An inexpensive place to start or end your trip
Great rooms fast internet for Belize lots of deferred maintenance on these places. It’s for sale so that figures. Mosquitos are bad. They need netting over the beds
The resort is quiet, isolated, clean, and well protected. Older but decently maintained. Ashley and Ben were amazing. They take excellent care of their guests. The food and bar service is limited, but nice. If you want a quiet reasonably affordable place to stay this is the place for you. It is well protected by the dogs that live on the place which are very good natured and friendly if you are suppose to be there. Which they seem to know. Loveable puppies and dogs.
People were nice. Connecting for a ride across river was difficult. Shower and kitchen fixtures barely functional. All local food options closed on Mondays. Go ahead and make your way to the airport directly from your destination.
Super convenient to airport. Requires a River boat crossing, provided by River Bend.
Very helpful staff.
Try not to stay in this area. Go ahead and make your way to your destination. Connecting to the ride across the river with no service in the dark was difficult and sketchy.
Absolutely beautiful environment all around. Great breakfast friendly staff and super helpful.
Property was technically close to the airport, however you had to cross a river to get to the main roads therefore needing additional arrangements with the hotel staff.
Cabins beside a river. Rustic. Quaint. Basic. Not for everybody.

We stayed for 1 night due to a late flight arrival before our quick flight out the next morning. A quick 5min and $10 taxi ride from the airport, the hotel has a private boat to transfer guests from the "harbor" to the hotel. The cabin is large and has full kitchen amenities, and a large screened porch with hammocks. There is a strong ac unit and ceiling fans and fans, we actually turned things down because it was really strong and cold! We got dinner takeout that the staff Kevin ordered and picked up for us. He also got us beers from the bar. There's a community room if you want to hang out, and the property is beautiful and peaceful with their resident dogs. Breakfast is simple. We got a chance to chat with other guests who stay much longer and make use of their cabin kitchens. This is great if you want to stay near Belize city but feel safe and secure, and in a peaceful area. Highly recommend!
