Family reunion
Great family vacation.Service was exceptional especially the activity and entertainment staff. Lots of activities for all of us. The layout of the rooms in villas was conducive to prvacy yet great access to everything .Rooms were comfortable and large.Food was good in that there were some Jamaican offerings but mostly catered for a european diet. With respect to the special restaurants ,two of the three were good which is a good average .The condition of the resort showed some wear but very clean. Overall, we would come back.
Good
The beach is absolutely gorgeous!
The staff is not customer oriented with certain aspects of attitude and reluctance.
Peace and friendship
This was an awful experience! I did not feel like I was at a Riu resort. The food quality was terrible and very lazy. The room service food did not match the pictures of menu descriptions. They are giving people left overs and food made earlier that afternoon for room service. When I called room service to ask why the food quality did not match that of other Riu’s. I was told that it was because they had no overnight cook and the head chef instructed them to remake the food and serve it throughout the night. That means the sandwich I ordered at midnight was made some time that after noon. This is unacceptable for a Riu. Also, I hurt myself in their gym when the strap on a piece of equipment snapped, throwing me to the ground. Due to this, I have to extend my trip and stay longer until I am healthy enough to fly. when I asked the hotel managers how I could contact the review to voice my concerns for the stay I experienced. they voluntarily gave me the wrong phone number. I waited four days and received no response. Then I called the review. Customer service general inquiry line a person there explained to me that those two managers gave me the wrong phone number and then he proceeded to give me the correct phone number so I can find some rectification for this incident with the review has put me through as a guest is absolutely shameful. I would never return to one of their properties again Expedia seriously look into what they are doing.
Beach is beautiful..staff is super friendly..you can find quiet places or enjoy music and drinks..food was delicious..jerk chicken hut on the beach excellent..day trips were easy to book .overall a great experience
good good
Very Nice Awesome beach Entertainment team Great!!!!!
I have visited the Riu many times over the years and its a wonderful property, but the quality of the staff has gone down ( at least towards Black women) but Big up to Chinroy, bellhop and Karen in the dining hall who know what good hospitality is👍 More than their peers. But the property remains beautiful and well maintained
Alright except for the cockroaches we were scared to step on every night on our way to room..
Food was bad, property wasn't clean, it was just ok. Compared to other destinations this one was at the bottom.
Positives: The property is exceptionally well-maintained, and the staff is incredibly friendly. I visited with my elderly parents, and the team went out of their way to accommodate us by providing an accessible room and assisting with convenient beach seating for them. The buffet offers a wide variety of options, and the drinks are outstanding. The beach is pristine, the pools are excellent, and the evening entertainment is enjoyable. Negatives: While the food quality is good, I was hoping to experience more authentic Jamaican dishes and local fruits, which were noticeably absent. The menu options felt similar to those commonly available in the U.S., lacking a distinct Jamaican touch.
Everything about this resort was just good enough to pass. The food is extremely mediocre but not awful. The Italian place was the only truly good meal. Many of the people working there are nice. A few bad apples as well. Maid service was not amazing, often no towels given. We asked for extra pillows for days, never received them. Sometimes the drinks were replenished, but not always. The last day we were charged for the free WiFi. It was not explained to us how to set it up. My minor child misunderstood the process and so they charged us when it should have been complimentary. We were with a group of 18 all there for about a week. Do the math on how much they made off of us. Fixing this would have left a much better taste in my mouth. Instead the manager said this is a business. That says to me a business looking to deceive and rip people off purposely. We will not be back. I’ve been to many all inclusive resorts and this one is towards the bottom. If you want to pay the same amount as a higher quality resort for mediocre everything this is your place. If you’re wavering, go with the other choice.
Everting beautiful
Amazing stay! Staff was beyond helpful and welcoming. Resort was beautiful and our room was great. Will definitely come back!!!
All is good
Very nice resort! Beautiful beach, great food and service!! The buffet was excellent with many options! Staff are very nice!
Nice
Hello Jamacia!
We were there 5 days for a wedding. It was truly beautiful. costly but good. it would be good it they were able to offer non-alcoholic wines as well as a good variety of mocktail's. the accommodations were stella. Bring lots of change for tipping each day. there was good entertainment and lots of activities to get involved with.
Great food; friendly, cheerful staff
quiet calm beach; peaceful
Very nice
I didn’t like the way from the airport to the hotel. The hotel is very clean and the services are very nice and professional
Great place. We are repeat satisfied customers. 10 rating on food. Beach. And service and entertainment staff, jerk chicken hot on beach -Jolly serves amazing jerk Chicken
Very poor service , Staff is very rude and disrespectful. We had no AC for 2 days and all rooms very quite humid. Would never return to this hotel. Despite being a Riu property the stds very bad.
Badly maintained and unfriendly staff
I've been coming here for years. While the staff is very friendly the property seems to be declining every year. There is always something not working. Be it the refrigerator, or the liquor bottle dispensers, or the safe, this year was the safe and the room entry key cards. Also, came into our room the first day and found a staff member sitting on the couch watching a game on the TV. He said "oh you guys are here already". It was so odd. Sadly we no longer feel RIU is giving quality anymore.
good food good people nice beaches
Old
Great atmosphere.
SammiJo and Kimberly at the front desk were the BEST. Many thanks to them for their help with surprising our family. The only unfriendly face that we encountered during our entire stay was our housekeeper. The rest of the staff was absolutely incredible, friendly and helpful. The presentation of the food was beautiful. However, we were unhappy with the food during our stay. If you don't know how Jamaican food should taste, it could be passable, but when you know how it should be, it was very disappointing. We were disappointed in the lack of cleanliness of our room. When we have to pay hundreds of dollars per night, I would expect an elite level of cleanliness. Our shower continued to grow mold the entire time that we were there, along with the corner of the floor under the sink. There was dried snot on the walls of the shower the whole stay (gross). Each time we came into the room, the floor was SO wet and soapy and you could literally see everywhere that wasn't mopped. We had to use a towel to dry the floor every day, so we wouldn't slip. We didn't get turn down service until our 4th night and that was only because the housekeeping supervisor asked us how that was going and we had NO idea it was a thing. She made sure the night housekeeper did it. They didn’t bother again on the final night. So we had the turndown service 3 nights of our 8. The room we had for the kids smelled BADLY of sewage so they slept with us. A lot of money spent on 2nd room that was barely used.
All good.. excellent food, drinks and kids safety. Looking to see a good disco night club like RIU cabos
Great place to stay with great staff
It was an ok stay my only problem is when i wanted to extend my stay they told me that they didn't have any rooms and i think it could be handled better based on the reason why i wanted to extend my time there. But overall it was an ok stay
Love this resort. Would book again.
Loved everything, staff is great!!! Definitely going back.
Riu’s policy of leaving their guests stranded at the airport because they booked through a 3rd party was very disappointing. For this reason I would never stay at a RIU again. Who does that? Where is your hospitality? Is this the 1st impression you want to give your potential recurring guests???

First Impression
I was disappointed when I arrived which was late in the evening because of the transportation getting there late. I arrived just before 10pm as it was a journey which takes 9 hours to get to the hotel which causes me a lot of stress and anxiety, so you can understand having nothing to eat all that time and was told when I arrived at the hotel that all the restaurants stopped serving food but I can ordered room service which might just be sandwiches. I was left disappointed because I wanted something hot to eat and as this is an all inclusive resort which I have paid very good money to stay, I wasn't very happy to hear this. Why isn't there no grill bar open after hours for guests like myself can access hot meal, so my first impression left a bad taste in my mouth. 2nd I didn't like the room I was assigned to, as being a single person, my room was too far away from everything and also to find out that the safety box was out of order and the patio door wasn't shutting. So can you understand my first impression was stressful, however with all of this mishaps and after speaking with the staff the following morning, they went all the way out to make the remainder of my stay a stress free one.
I really enjoyed staying here. The staff was great, my only issue was the mislabeling of the food at the buffet. My partner and I do not eat pork and will get sick if we eat it. We both ended up eating it believing it to me something else. Aside from that. I love it and I would come again.
It was an excellent experience. I highly recommend this resort.
James review
My experience was excellent I enjoyed the beach except for the sand flies lol my experience at the spa was also excellent especially my masseuse Toby I have stayed at the Riu in London and in Montego Bay I’m supposed to get points I haven’t received any tabulation
Customer service was excellent!! Staff were friendly. Suite was superb. Beach was Peru.
Enjoyed the hospitality and the premise
It a great place
The AC was out or locked on 80F for the entire stay. RIU management failed to address the issue and stopped returning calls after the first night. We slept each night in pools of our own sweat. Other amenities were great, but NO AC in a “5-star” resort? UNACCEPTABLE.😡😡😡
I want to give this place a 5 star but just can’t because the AC didn’t work last 2 days of our stay and it was very difficult to get dinner reservations. Everything else was awesome.
Best stretch of beach on the whole island! The food was outstanding at both the buffet and at all of the specialty restaurants. Service was top notch, everyone at the resort was extremely friendly and helpful. My 11 year old daughter absolutely loved her time here, as did my wife and I. We can't say enough good things about the resort but especially the staff, who were all great! Don't let the beach vendors put you off, there are some interesting people that you can meet that only want to help you have a good time in Jamaica. Get yourself a good captain, like Captain Coco, who can take you on fishing or snorkeling adventures. Also, a reliable and safe driver like Floyd's Taxi can get you to all kinds of local attractions. Don't be afraid to shop at local stores for much better deals on gifts and crafts than you can get at the beach or in the resort gift shop. Also check out some amazing natural wonders like Blue Hole or Mayfield Falls.
4 times going here. Never disappointed. The people that work there are wonderful. Entertainers Diamond. Bubbles. Spotlight. Advance. Marcus aka super Mario. They are all fun. The wait staff Durval. Shelly. Ishema, Powell, Davin, Grant are so good and pleasant.
Property was beautiful and clean. Food was good and special restaurant Italian was excellent. Service was good and beach access great. My one concern was the constant venders on beach. I know they were not allowed on property but they still called out and as you were going into ocean
Staff was mostly helpful
Beds was uncomfortable.
Is everything was ok, but just was a little inconvenience with water floor in sink was poor.
Staff were great… drink very nice.. entertainment staff 10/10… bathroom was not modern n unable to connect tv to streaming channels.. food choices limited and limited traditional dishes
The property was fine; however, there were issues with the room. The room was too far. The safe did not work. They changed our room and is not ready for us to enter delaying our relaxation. te man
RIU is a relaxing and well-staffed resort. They offer a great variety of dining options both in the restaurants and buffet-style meals with authentic local flavors and international cuisines (could use more variety of local peppa condiments though!). We were a large group of 30 people and the staff was incredibly nice and accommodating.
Gorgeous water and beach! Entertainment was awesome! Food delicious!
The worse service ever, croaches. No air conditioning. No power, worse vacation in my life.
food was terrible, my song got sick
The customer service in the hotel was awful, people who work at the buffet were horrible, and the attention was inappropriate. When I got to the room from the pool in the afternoon there was no soap, and no conditioner, I called the reception to send someone to put the soap and conditioner and they never reached out to the room. Then i talked to Arturo the sub- director of the hotel, and he was the one who solved my issue. The variety of food in the buffet was really bad, the same food the entire week I stayed at the hotel. The only good thing that I would say the hotel had was the BEACH, AMAZING AND INCREDIBLY BEACH.
.Arrived a day late due to airline cancelling. Front desk at property gave number for management to contact for reimbursement.Dialed number to contact management no answer. So unfortunate no refund or extended day,
loved it!
Had an awesome stay at the RIU Palace Tropical Bay in Negril. The beach is beautiful (no seaweed or rocks, nice clear/warm water). The jerk hut on the beach served delicious food that we had for lunch every day. In fact, the food in general was great (from the buffet to the à la carte restaurants). Loved the fresh omelettes in the mornings and the steak served at each restaurant is delicious! The bartenders are friendly, hilarious and fun. The vendors on the beach were a bit pushy. My best advice is to ignore them and don’t even make eye contact. Transportation is a 1.5-2 hour bus ride from Montego Bay airport. We booked with Jamaica Tours Limited and can’t complain, they were on time and bus drivers were friendly. On the way, our driver taught us a bit about the towns on the way, Jamaican culture and lifestyle.
Staff were great as was service. Facilities and the room were nice. Food completely average, not great but not bad….room service is not good at all, and the 24 hour snack lounge is terrible. Coffe bar was great, as were the regular bars but there are zero top shelf options at this resort. There is also very little to no nightlife at this resort. It’s a very low energy quiet resort for sure. We didn’t hate our stay but we also didn’t really enjoy it much. The beach is amazing and was the only reason we decided to stay here to start with. Hope that helps.
I have been coming to the Riu Palace since 2003 or 4 never experience roaches the roaches was on the food court buffet for lunch roaches was in our bathroom roaches is in our bedroom scattering I've never I was scared to leave my luggage to bring roaches back to the US with me I've never seen roaches at their palace before please correct this I had to leave the real and go to the Royalton
The resort was very entertaining, and the food was amazing.
Property was nice, but we had three bad experiences of roaches in the restaurants.
Property was nice and the food was great even the specialty restaurants
I have stayed at the riu back in 2022 and I loved it. I'm not sure if the staff have changed but nobody is friendly. The quality of food is very poor I didn't enjoy the jerk hut but I left the resort to eat
Best Birthday Trip Ever
The staff was PHENOMENAL!! DO YOU HEAR ME - PHENOMENAL!! Despite being personally affected by Hurricane Beryl that had taken place about a week before my trip, the staff was pleasant and seemed to care about my comfort and enjoyment. The food and drinks were really good and diverse. I have zero complaints. The premises was clean and well kept.

Was not a fan of the hotel staff or limited activities. Food options were extensive but very few of options were good. we also had several power outages….Wouldn’t stay again.
I dont like the fact there was no elevator
The shows
Need elevator for visitor's and specialy staff
Great place, no complaints.
We went for our anniversary in July of 2024 and had an amazing time. Reserve your dinners asap because the restaurants are small and fill up quickly. My only complaint is no elevators at this resort and we were on the third floor.
Great property and very good service
In room electrical options below average. Hard to connect and maintain connections. Not suitable for modern needs.
Nice property and facilities, but poorly ran. Room was not clean when we arrived, lock on the back door was broken. Room smelled moldy. Sun beds absolutely filthy. Good food. Beautiful beach.
The staff is super friendly, but the food isn't that good.
The staff service was remarkable...the activities and drinks were great ..... the bartender Sillion kept everyone entertained with his skills and his experience was magnificent....... My family and i really enjoyed the live band and shows each night.
Liked everything.
Best staff and great food. We have stayed at 6 resorts in Jamaica and this was the best,
Awesome overall. There was just an issue with 2 roaches in our room.
Having been to other RIU Resorts, this property is much smaller. The amenities are very limited and there are not a lot of activities to keep the kids involved. When sitting at the beach and pool, often times have to walk to the bar to get a drink. The main pool in which few activities took place was extremely small and thus limits participation. The relaxing pool, which is the largest, has a bee problem. Guests can not relax on the lounging chair without swarms of bees around. The relaxing pool also has a lot of bees and bugs in it. Guests have to request for the pool to be cleaned. There were also significant delays with room cleaning and not being left enough towels and washcloths for the room occupants. It would have been nice to have music around the pool throughout the day. Guests played music through personal speakers. The staff often commented that it is very hot in Jamaica so they try to stay out of the heat. That explains why services were so limited as we often did not see workers walking around to attend to guest needs. We were very disappointed with this stay. This resort has the potential to be great but needs a lot of work.
Loved everything except for the long ride to and from the Airport... would definitely be visiting again though....
A great stay. Thank you!
my time at riu was amazing from the food the room everything was in order and well put together
Beautiful resort, food is amazing.
Very welcoming staff, good environment, very peaceful
- rooms smelled of mildew and we had to change rooms - there were drops of wet paint in the first rooms that got on my baby - Squished roach on floor - TV in room was broken - Room service food was awful - Fridge in room didn’t work - New room smelled like sewage
We suppose to have a shuttle to the airport it never came and we had to pay for a cab to the airport that was 150 dollars
My trip dates were from July 5th-July 11th. When I checked in the resort at 3PM my room was not ready. I had to wait 30-45 minutes before it was ready. After I waited in the lobby for the 30-45 minutes. The front desk rep. advised there was no electricity (no lights, no AC, no tv). I had no choice but to check in because my taxi ride already left. I went in the room it smelled like mildew and the floor was moist because their was no AC. Good thing was they had a generator but it wasn't strong enough to carry the AC. Meanwhile it is hot as fish grease outside and my room felt hotter than outside. The only thing I could do was go to the beach and get in the water to try and stay cool. My stay here was horrible and my trip was ruined because I was constantly hot 24/7. The electricity was finally restored on Sunday but my room 4123 AC was not working properly so I was still hot for the remainder of my stay. I had to buy a stand up fan to try and get relief at night because I become asthmatic at night when it's too hot. I'm aware they were affected by Hurricane Beryl but I also feel like their should have been extra precautions in place when things like this occur. Some of the male workers were too flirtatious and it was making me feel uncomfortable because I am a solo traveler. I don't mind a compliment but they were asking too many personal questions regarding my employment & my marital status. Some of the female staff were mean spirited. I will not be returning to Jamaica.
Excellent stay! lovely beach
It has been a wonderful vacation with the family. The hotel managed the hurricane in a very proficient way. We had 2 days without A/C, but all the services were at 100%. The beach is incredible. The Restaurants and food were really good and tasy. The service was good. Employees were not always friendly, but its was ok.
I liked the food. Cleanest. The pool and the sea. I did not like the sevice of the ftont desk in the morning of July 8th...at 7-8 am..my pick up was arranged by the RIU representave for 7:15am and did not show up. And had to pay to get to montigo which we almost miss our flight. The front dest totally egnored and laugh of my sittuation which I gound very rude and unprofessional.very disappointed..your public rellation should look at this message.

Air conditioner for whole property was not working properly and our room had a leak that was never fixed. Resort is in need of upgrading. Staff was excellent as always and beach is beautiful!
