The property was a very beautiful place kept really clean most of the staff was polite some was very rude. The food was good for the most part. Only thing was the time I was there it rained a lot and our room did not have the umbrella. Over all the entertainment was great, there was alway things to do you didn’t have to go searching for the entertainment! Also, went to the spa it was very closed in and the staff didn’t have enough accommodation to fully do their duty! Meaning because they had only one pedicure chair the other staff had to use a floor basin to washing my feet and the music needed to be changed but the staff has no control over the music was very depressing!!
Had a great stay! The staff was very friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. The hotel was clean and well-maintained, which I really appreciated. Would definitely recommend!
Prop was very clean, cleaning staff Nicole Grant, super prrsonality
.
I checked out yesterday from Room 1247 and arrived home with a ton of bites! You need to disinfect your beds better. Changing sheets is not enough. Now I have to disinfect and treat my entire home for bed bugs!
Best value for an all-inclusive resort you will find, and the property itself is immaculate, the beach is amazing, and there's a ton of activities for everyone.
Very clean, great food, great entertainment and the staff was AMAZING. Having the kayaks, paddle board and paddle boat was even more of a plus. We really don't have any complaints.
Some staff are very rude
The property is clean and beautiful.
Great
Was everything I was looking for in vacation! Love the new remodel! Been here prior to the remodel and love the new vibe!
Staff were friendly and professional. The resort was well maintained and made you feel like you were in a private oasis. I would definitely return to RIU Negril.
The property was average in most respects: 1. The check-in was with glitches showing a lack of proper planning. I had to wait three hours to get a room, as they assigned to me the one room that was probably cleaned last. 2. The staff ranged from surly and abrupt to overly friendly, you never knew what you were going to get when approaching someone. I attribute that a a lack of training which leads to a lack of professionalism. 3. The local store was outrageously overpriced. I paid $34 for a bottle of sunscreen that costs $8 on Amazon. It is not as much the money as it is the feeling I was getting that I was being ripped off. 4. On the positive side the food and food service was good, lots of variety, the food looked fresh and was well prepared.
The property had just completed an extensive renovation in December and was in great condition. The staff was mostly very friendly and helpful. They would go out of their way to help you. Enjoyed my vacation very much.
Loved how accessible and quiet the resort was, while also being vibrant and fun! Truly one of Riu’s best! Everyone was spectacular.
Everything was perfect!
Worker’s were rude. The ladies in the coffee shop and the staff at the reception area bar were amazing. The staff at Bobs bar were terrible!!
The staff was very helpful and courteous. Dining options were great. Entertainment and activities were wonderful.
I only dislike the fact that there's NO elevator.
I enjoyed myself at hotel RIU Negril, especially the swim aerobics with Shanalee and how she engaged us to participate. I would come back just to see Shanalee and do swim aerobics with her, Shanalee really worked me out and taught me a few exercises that I can use at home. I plan on coming back and would love to see Shanalee at Hotel RIU Negril her energy is indescribable and she makes you want to follow her all day and do everything she do. I love how Shanalee would come find me and tell me what’s going on for the day and make sure I come participate which makes being at hotel RIU Negril that much nicer, I am a person that likes to be acknowledged on vacation and Shanalee did just that made me feel extra special during my stay and for that I will be back.
Property was well maintained. Staff were friendly. The gym area could have been better equiped but everything there was fine. Food was good. Room was great. Loved the property.
Overall our experience at the RIU Negril was good. This was our first family all inclusive trip. There were other kids there but not many. Was hoping for more activities to keep the kids busy so us adults could have fun as well. The swim up bar is where the fun usually happens but does not allow kids so we could not really enjoy it much. The food options were ok but menu selection was slim at the restaurant that required reservations. The biggest down fall was needing reservations at restaurants but not being able to make them until 48 hrs before. The first two days we had to eat at the buffet or sports bar which was ok but nothing great. Even when we did have reservations there were plenty of open tables so people coming in that day could have eaten there. Personally would have liked to see more restaurant choices. We did the catamaran cruise that took us snorkeling and then Rick’s Cafe. That was fun and the snorkeling with the guide was nice but not for young kids. We paid for our 10 and 13 year old and they didn’t end up going because it was a far swim and we were not comfortable having them be that far from the boat. All the staff was great and was very accommodating. Bar tenders were awesome. They kept it fun and kept the atmosphere energetic, especially our boys Nicole and Tyrese. They rocked it! Also, the activities crew was fun and did a great job, especially BRYAN and Pineapple. Really can’t say anything bad about anyone. They all were great.
I had a great time
This a Beautiful hotel but just not how we like to enjoy JA. It’s basically a cruise ship of land. We couldn’t get into any of the restaurants for dinner & the one time we did eat dinner the first night at the buffet and it was not good. They want you to do everything via the app but it doesn’t work always . They are really strict about the pool towels & plastic cups . It’s got a lot of entertainment going on all the time which is good if you like that stuff. It was a fine stay just not for us . Back to Charela in July .
The property was nice and spacious. We traveled with young kids so I would’ve liked to see more activities for them.
The Riu Negril was a fantastic place to stay, staff were pleasant and attentive. It was almost impossible to get a reservation at any of the restaurants but the buffet food was great, lots of options and well stocked. The beach was great, the sand was soft and clean and the water was divine. One word of warning, bugs come out at dusk and if you’re on the beach or around a bunch of greenery you will get bitten.
EVERY SINGLE STAFF AT THE RESORT MADE SURE I HAD A GREAT EXPERIENCE IN THEIR OWN WAY! From the front desk staff who was always available wether it was by phone or in person,no matter the time… to the bar staff who always had a smile on their face when they serve you… to the cab drivers who was always willing to wait for you and ensure your safety off the resort! Chanel (I hope I spelled her name rite) from the scuba resort is someone I want to highlight as she takes THE BEST PICTURES and she is so bubbly and always keeps a smile on her face. She really loves her job! JAMMIN BAR was my favorite bar by far! The staff kept me smiling and laughing and they were so full of life and made the best drinks! I loved my experience
Was a very nice trip. The buffet was excellent. Had dinner on the beach which was very good in terms of the ambiance. The beach did have some sea weeds but still enough good areas to enjoy. The nightly activities were also great. Overall I’d go again.
Nice and clean.
Beautiful property.. staff was friendly and every helpful.. only thing Is no elevator.. so prepare for some good exercise 😊 will definitely recommend!
Beautiful setting. We did not have hot water 2 mornings. We let the desk know but they didn’t seem to care. Just said “oh no”.
Will never return to this property
Beautiful resort, food and drinks were good. The entertainment was great! Our favorite bartenders were in the lobby! Shout out to Alana she was awesome! The best service was in the steakhouse!
Everything was great except the last 2 nights our AC was out in our room.
My only issue was that we were in building 4 which is too far from everything except the beach. As we are elderly, a 1/4 mile walk to breakfast was too far. The wonderful reception people moved us and the vacation was amazing
Loved it all really….except the air conditioning being turned down at night- not cool!!!!! Drinks weren't strong enough but were good. Food great, very clean, didn't get to see the shark- sad! Renovations were amazing and the swim out in building 2 was great! Weather was beautiful!
Beautiful, peaceful resort. The food is delicious!! The service is great. The water and beach are beautiful There is a nice long walk along the bay that is fun. We loved it all.
This property was nice and safe. The staff were nice and accommodating. The only thing i didn’t like is the distance you had to walk from lobby to your building. The grounds need more lighting but we had a great time here. A
RIU Negril is amazing. The staff there are pleasant , hardworking and helpful. I love this hotel. I will be back soon with my family.
The food wasn’t warm
Fantastic except for the sand flies at night but thats just a island thing i guess.
staff so nice and friendly
I recently stayed at this hotel, and my experience was average at best. While I understood the property had undergone refurbishment, several issues made my stay less than satisfactory. 1. Room Cleanliness: Upon entering the room, there were no towels provided. Even after requesting, only two towels were delivered for a group of four. Under the beds, an Ensure bottle was left untouched throughout the four-night stay, and the bedroom floor had gravel. The hallways were dirty, with rubbish in the corridor and wet floors. 1. Room Cleanliness: Upon arrival, we noticed an Ensure bottle under the bed that clearly hadn’t been removed prior to our stay. It remained there throughout the four-night visit. Additionally, there was gravel on the bedroom floor. 3. Check-Out Experience: The check-out process was frustrating. I requested a trolley at 11:15 AM to begin moving items, and the butler was very helpful in loading the car. However, despite this effort and returning the keys by 12:15 PM, I was informed that a late check-out fee would be applied. This felt unreasonable and unnecessary. The only highlight was the brilliant butler who assisted with moving items to the car and the entertainment team. Unfortunately, the overall experience left me disappointed, and I wouldn’t consider staying here again.
this was my first experience at a RIU property. i dont know if i would have chose. RIU Negril if it was up to me but my my sister wanted to come to celebrate her 50th here as she’s been a few times now and absolutely loved it and i’m glad i listened to her! the property itself has been recently renovated completely so it feels like a brand new mondern resort. it’s beautiful, immaculate and very open…. love open air buildings. there are so many pools, even a quiet one, bars and restaurants galore, a pristine beach and incredible entertainment! no dissappointment in anything. the food was excellent in every spot! the waitresses really went above and beyond to make my sisters birthday breakfast and dinner so special for her w decorating and the most delicious cake! the french restaurant was by far my favorite, but everything else was simply awesome, especially the buffet! my daughter loved that the most! i was able to upgrade my room to a swim up pool room and it was so worth it… such a great way to start our morning with a beautiful view of the ocean. the room was spacious and clean, although there was a strange smell coming from the air conditioner for some reason, but we kept that off most days and kept the sliding door open w the screen. room service came everyday and cleaned well. the only other complaint i could have is the bug bites i got every evening… so bring bug spray and an after bite product. lastly the entertainment and staff were incredible! 10 out of 10 recommend
The food was great! Lots of variety - from Jamaican, Spanish, Asian, Indian, Italian, and American food options for every meal and dessert. The pools were nice and clean, but cold. The beach was clean, but too much seaweed, which they could have staff clean to make the beach water appear clearer. They had a variety of fun activities on and off the water everyday to choose from. They had a good DJ and music experience. They cut the music off not too late so that everyone could sleep well. The staff was all around nice and most were courteous (just a couple were not). The hotel takes good care of their staff and even gave them a staff party for the holiday. The rooms were nice and had excellent free bar options in the room. There was a problem with the initial room given to me, but the front desk fixed it by the next day, and all was well. Lastly, I felt welcomed and safe at the resort, and nearby. I recommend this resort, and I would definitely return there for another vacation in the future.
The only dislike i have for this property is that there was no elevator. Other than that everything from when i checked in, to when i checked out was phenomenal. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the staff was super nice and everyone greeted you from the front desk to the grounds keepers and the food OMG the food options were endless and all that i was able to try while i stayed at the property was fantasticly prepared and flavor was definitely on point and something to remember. I would most definitely stay at this property again.
Riu was awesome, dude! Perfect for kids, tons to do, amazing food, great service, and everyone was super nice.
Beautiful property and resort overall.
We had the best time!! Nothing has been left to chance. Everything available and abundant.
I have been coming to this resort for the last 14 years. We arrived in our room with no usable phone. No working TV. I had to walk to the front desk because of no phone. They came 2 days later to fix the TV but not the phone. Then we had no beverages in our room so reported to desk again after walking a distance to get there. The common response was always why didn't you just call. I would have to explain once again we have no phone. This went on the full time of our stay we left with out a working phone. My husband had to walk to the desk to get our bags picked up because even though we requested a pick up time to make our bus no one showed and we still had no phone. We wanted a peaceful relaxing time and half of that was taken away with issues and the other half by the constant construction going on all day. We didn't get a reduced pride for contraction zone. We pay a lot to stay here and I feel I didn't get what we paid for.
This place is not worth going. No room service, the staff is not accommodating. The food is not good. My son was sick and they would not allow me to take food to the room. They advised I walked with my sick son who had a fever to another restaurant on the property, and I could take food to My room from there. When you request anything to the room it comes a day later. After speaking with staff and locals it’s know as the worst resort in Negril. It is on bloody bay, not 7 mile beach. The water at the beach has an ofor and is dark and murky. You must walk 10 minutes to the beach at the other Riu resort. You can use the beach there, but none of the facilities. I will go back to Jamaica. I would NEVER stay here or another Riu resort. So disappointed at this resort. I am glad we spent some time each day off the resort.
Relaxing
It was very relaxing, no complaints.
The grounds were beautiful and the staff were very efficient, friendly, and understanding. The dining options were appreciated but i think the desserts were mostly too sweet.
In general Our stay was great Staff do everything to help us
Food, drinks and amenities were great but we were on the 400 block and had problems with mosquitoes. We got bitten a lot.
The staffs are very friendly. Just AC seems to go off in the middle of night and the last night our fan stopped working. Other than that it was a good stay. The young lady that helped us at front desk was very helpful and nice.👍
Riu has significantly improved in virtually every facet — the food is tasty, the entertainment is well thought out, well practiced and very engaging and enjoyable, the staff members are (for the most part) very friendly and helpful, the renovations to the exterior make the whole place feel contemporary and refreshed. We had an issue with the AC in our room that despite numerous calls and visits from the technician was not resolved, and so it was uncomfortably hot in the room. However, we will definitely be back next Christmas, it was a wonderful time!
THE STAFF ARE TRAINED TO PUT BLACK PEOPLE TO THE BACK IN TERMS OF SERVICE. I WENT TO THE DINING AREA, GOT SOME FOOD AND WAITED ABOUT 15 MINUTES AND NO ONE APPROACHED MY TABLE TO OFFER ME A DRINK. AFTER I HAD ENOUGH OF THE NONSENSE, I CALLED A MANAGER OVER AND ASKED HOW WAS THE WAIT TO BE RECOGNISE. HE ASKED A WAITER TO ASSIST ME WITH A CUP OF TEA. THE WAITER TOOK HIS OWN SWEET TIME CLEARING TABLES BEFORE HE GOT TO ME. I WAS FUMING. I TOLD HIM THAT I WAS OKAY AND DID NOT FINISH THE FOOD THAT I WAS EATING. I TORE A DOLLAR IN TWO AND LEFT AT THE TABLE FOR THE TIP, THEN WALKED OUT. THE SECOND ISSUE WAS THAT I ASKED FOR A TV REMOTE 2 NIGHTS IN A ROW AND NEVER RECEIVED ONE. THE WATER IN THE SHOWER DID NOT DRAIN ALL THE WAY OUT DUE TO POOR TILING. TAKING A SHOWER AND HAVE STANDING WATER ON THE GROUND IN THE SHOWER WAS SICKENING. I USUALLY HAD A MEAL WHILE I AM OUT ON THE ROAD. ONE NIGHT I WAS A BIT HUNGRY AND WENT TO THE SPORTS BAR TO GET SOMETHING. THERE WAS NOTHING THAT I WOULD EAT ON THE MENU SO I ASKED FOR AN ORDER OF FRIES. I HAD 2 DRINKS TO PASS THE WAITING TIME. AFTER WAITING FOR ABOUT 45 MINUTES, THERE WAS STILL NO FRIES BEING SERVED TO ME SO I LEFT. YOU WOULD THINK THAT COMING HOME TO YOUR OWN COUNTRY, RELAXING IN A HOTEL WOULD BE LIKE A DREAM BUT IT WAS A NIGHTMARE. IT WAS THE WORST EVER. VERY DISGUSTING.
The property was very clean
Great place to stay at.
1 of the staff at the gifts shop. My bag touch something as accident she said I had to pay for it
First our room was leaking water from the bathroom and because of that we had to change rooms and it was no different same problem. The food was not that great not enough Jamaica food. The pool in the water it dirty. It look like vomit was in the water flooring on the top and this was early before lunch. I did enjoy my stay and it was my birthday.
I looooved this hotel so much !!!! The service was excellent!!! The food was amazing!!!! The entertainment team was top notch!!!! They are doing renovations now !!! I can’t wait to go back & see the new renovations! Definitely planning to go back soon
Everything was great.
Great but needs more entertainment
Went with my husband and we had a great time , enjoyed the all the different foods they served ,the staff was friendly and accommodating . The mini bar I. Our room, rooms were nice and clean and up to date definitely a place to visit
There was no food options there was no room service. The drinks where watered down the room had a musty smell and the water pressure was very low
The property did not inform us that it will be closing on tyhe 18th of August. Our hallways we fillled wiuth mattresses that they were removing from other room ans cleaning carts lined the hallwways. The hallways and some rooms smelled like mold. I got diarrhea after 2 days on the resort. The pools often had dead bees and flys in it. I seen roaches running around in and outside of the buffet hall. These conditions were unacceptable.
Overall service was way below standard. Firstly, I had booked for 3 nights and having to leave after the 1 st night due to the fact of lack of information. The hotel was going to be closed, but this information wasn’t relayed to me. In which, upon arrival I was offered to relocate to Trelawny, which is almost 3 hours away from my home. (Hence, I couldn’t accept that offer). Why wasn’t I made aware of the relocation before even getting to the hotel? People need to be informed, this way one can make a informed decision. This was time wasting, disruption of life, and a disrespect to guests’. Secondly, the kids pool was closed. Hence, myself and my child was so disappointed. There were no activities for either the child or us as adults. Thirdly, the food sucks. Very little choices on the line. Lastly, I chose this property because I’ve been there a few times. Reason being, I know what this property offers; the great food, entertainment, as well as knowing that I can also enjoy myself with my child. As well as, knowing that my child will be safe if I leave her in the kiddy section, as staffs are always there to assist. Peoples’ hard earn money must be respected. Thank you!
Don’t do it!! Roaches crawling up the walls in the restaurant. The health department needs to shut this place down. You have to walk a mile to your room. No golf carts to assist . The shower handle fell off each time we tried taking a shower. The sink was backed up so you couldn’t run the water or it would have overflowed. When we reported these things to the front desk they said they would get somebody but they never came. Then when we advised front desk of the roaches in the restaurant and showed them the pictures and video footage, we were told it was nothing they can do, and that we should have told the Manager in the restaurant and that it wasn’t their department 🙄
It was okay…it’s like the 2 star property in terms of all inclusive resorts. It’s run down, not as clean, the towels in the bathroom are so old and worn out, the alcohol is watered down and the staff just all seem so tired and over it. I definitely won’t be going back.
This property is just OK. The food was good, drinks decent and bar staff super fun. However the entertainment was lacking the week we went, it seems the "stars" were on vacation. Also a water pump broke impacting the adult bar and entertainment bar, so no drinks while in the pool. It most likely impacted the pool as well as it was full of floating bugs. The pool staff did their best to keep sweeping the pool. The walkways along the lobby are very slippery once it rains so bring good water grip shoes, thank GOD I was able to avoid a nasty fall.
It's a'right
the staff was friendly
Roaches in the dining area. Needs to be ungraded!!!
The nightly entertainment was excellent. I really enjoyed the ones I went to. The meals were great.
I thought the hotel was very beautiful, lots of entertainment and there were several dining options. Plenty of pools to choose from as well. My only issue was there were a lot of smokers that walked around the property instead of staying in the designated areas. I was fortunate enough to get stuck behind one each day.
The property is nothing to rave about . Very basic concept our room was on the 3rd floor there is not elevators on property . Having to walk up and down each day after activities was not fun.
Very nice staff. Let down by poor quality of food.
The pools closed at 6 PM! Reservations for the specialty restaurants need to be made weeks in advance, nearly impossible when you are at the resort. Limited activities on site. Friendly staff, clean rooms. The food could be better.
So it took two hours to check in. There is no room service. I received two wash rags and 3 towels even though I had 2 other ppl with me and requested another. Food was filled with bugs. I seen a roach in the dining room at the buffet. Drinks were mid and they only used bottom shelf. Some staff were friendly like Ingrid but others were not. The pool closing at 6 during summer is ridiculous. $100 day pass for a guest but additional $170 to stay overnight is crazy! Ppl at the front offer you a ride to places but charge you $30 to go down the street. The list goes on. I would NEVER stay at this location again!
I like the room I was in. It is clean and comfortable
The Dining Halls were close to rooms and activities. The food was so good and the options were vast that it became overwhelming. The Staff was friendly and always smiling.
Overall Riu is a beautiful resort however I would rate this a 3 out of 5. The pool closes extremely early at like 6 PM which is ridiculous. It is light out at that time. Some of the workers are beyond flirty to the point of harassment couldn't believe what some of them said to me and my friend. We had cold water majority of the days we stayed there. It was a clean room but again not much warm water. Restaurant dining is hard because you have to book days prior. Overall I liked the Riu much better in Ochos rios then Negril
Property was well kept and the room was comfortable.
The entertainment and staff very informative and friendly to speak to. 👌 the food was exceptional. Too many bugs and flies
The RIU Negril overbook and sent my family and I to the RIU Tropical Palace down the road. They did this to many customers and we were forced to stay in a resort that we did not book. I did not enjoy the RIU Tropical Palace and my review above is based off of that.
Needs a lot of work
Location is amazing, food was very good and almost everything you can ask, only problem we had was stocking the mini bar. Every other day they miss us. I am not talking about alcohol or sodas simple things like water and coffee creamer. even I call reception still every other day they fill it up. First week internet was amazing as good as home but later went down dramatically. I believe better internet will bring more customers to the facility (as good as food) but overall it was great experience
Every thing the staff was great
It was awful and everything was messed up. We do have hot water for the first 3 days, our air conditioning agent or, and when they replaced our broken refrigerator, they accidentally took my food. It was a really rough week. Do not recommend.
Loved this resort. I wished the pool stayed open longer
Would Stay Here Again
Stayed shortly after the hurricane - arriving on a Friday and leaving on a Wednesday. Overall a good stay. Entertainment and fitness staff are super super fun!! Many activities throughout the day - pool games, aerobics, volleyball, etc. Pools were immaculate. Events in the evenings with childcare available while activities went on. Food at specialty restaurants were not great. The main restaurant “Green Island” which is a buffet was great. Many revolving options, always fresh, etc etc. The other buffet at Seagull wasn’t great. Front desk staff and maintenance were not fantastic. During our stay 5x our keys to our room got deactivated and the walk to and from your room to reception is quite a walk. Further, one night our door lock actually died and therefore we didn’t have access to the room - took 3 hours for maintenance to come, then climb through another room to get access to ours and issue wasn’t resolved for nearly 10 hours. Highly recommend taking a short walk on the beach to Don’s Lobster where the lobster is caught right there and then grilled. Also take a short cab ride to “best in the west” for fish and jerk chicken. Ride from airport to resort is about 90 minutes, but nice ride. Rooms were nice - nothing to complain about in the room itself - put in a request when you check in online for an upgrade and they will do the best to accommodate you at no charge. Room had 4 bottles of liquor and fridge full of water, mixers, soda - refilled every two days
Staff at front desk not helpful. Resort did not provide pick up from airport. Food runs out.
Great staff, noise in the dining area nothing you can do kids will be kids
The staff was very welcoming made me and my family feel we were the most important people hospitality with service of excellence
I like the hotel ,but NOT the stuff .They were not attentive to the visiters .What give a great experiences is not the building ,it's the people ! Actually, my friend had to move to a different hotel ,due the waitresses NOT willing to help her with her issue...smh
Didn’t have an iron in the room. Only had a sheet on the bed because we went during the hurricane, which is overlook most of it.

Front desk was a little of a pain when i was leaving. The i came to realize there were only 2 bellman onduty to service entire hotel. As a pregnant woman traveling alone I had to carry my bags myself from one side of the property to the next or miss my ride home.
