A palace of paradise
Everything about this property is fantastic, on a quiet side alleyway green potted plants line the entrance to this phenomenal Riad. Furnished with hand-knotted carpets, antiques, fruit bearing orange trees and ethnic paintings you could not ask for more well furnished place to stay. From the rooftop Terrace dining areas, to the cozy little restaurant, with a on-site Hamman Spa and Incredibly well furnished spacious rooms. Overhead rain showers, my luxurious room had a huge Stone bathtub. The toilet was separated by a pair of wooden antique doors , the bed was up on a stone platform reach by three small steps on either side so large that I couldn't lie across it and touch the sides. The daily breakfast served on the Terrace dining area was phenomenal complete with garden plants singing songbirds and just beautiful relaxation area. The concierge was incredibly helpful providing any information I needed as well as welcoming me to my home. Beautiful Moroccan metal chandeliers and wall sconces provided ambient lighting and gave the whole place a sense of warmth and comfort. From the moment I walked in down the long hallway passed carved African doors, beheld the beautiful chandeliers in the lobby way and looked out into the spacious Courtyard Garden I knew that this was a phenomenal property highly recommended for anyone wishing to have incredible cultural experience from local guest houses. The spacious bed's incredibly comfortable, with an abundance of pillows. Superb
The property is over all good, location is perfect, and the food is really good, so is the staff. I would only advise to be careful when ordering things, they charge for everything, including the water.
Undecided
This riad has it's good and bad points, but unfortunately if the room is the bad point it kind of outweighs the good points, as it's important to be comfortable. Staff and service very good. And communal areas also great. Lovely terrace and pool. But our room was a bit dark and dingy, and had no partition or door between the toilet area and bed area. Having asked if we could move up a floor to a lighter room we were initially told yes, but later told the riad was fully booked. I suppose this is fair enough. But it did take the gloss off what could have been a really good holiday.
Nice hotel
Nice hotel great staff that made you feel very welcomed. Breakfast was great and the excursion that they organised for us was amazing. I would stay here again.
Perfect get-away close to the hustle and bustle
My friend and I stayed for a week to relax, see some sites, eat great food and went on a couple of excursions: the Sahara desert overnight stay - recommended, and the Essaouira port day trip - less recommended or maybe we would have preferred the hot air balloon trip! Food in the Riad is brilliant and the advice/suggestions from staff is great - listen to them and ask them to help you with taxis if you need one (be warned - do not hail a taxi on your own as tourists, you most certainly get charged "tourist rates"). The lounge area/rooftop terrace is a great breakaway from the busy centre and we befriended other Riad guests and discussed excursions which was helpful. It's not in the "new city" part of town so look elsewhere if you want something posh/fancy/luxurious.
Absolutely wonderful
All the personal touches were perfect! The staff treat you like family and really can recommend the most perfect places to go. We had a massage and it was very good- would recommend. The food and drinks in the riad were also very good! 15 minute walk to main square. Off the beaten track a little bit, but makes it all the more authentic. Will definitely stay here again. And the weather was 36 degrees! Great to laze around the pool and read a good book!
Nice hotel excellent staff, but bad location
Excellent staff nice hotel a bit rundown, the location is not good at all, the 20 min walk ... it's not pleasant there is nothing near by! You can tell the locals dont like tourist.
Authentic riad in a great area
The staff at Riad La Maison Rouge made the whole trip extremely easy for us. They offer maps, tips and tricks, day trips, spa treatment, food, drink and much more. The overall feeling in the Riad is very calm, and it was great to be able to head back there after a wild day in the hectic Madina, or after a trek up the Atlas Mountains. The Riad also has its quirks, and is not the place to stay if you are looking for a luxurious 5* hotel with a massive pool and branded soap (which we definitely weren't). It's a simple traditional Riad, where you will get to know the staff and they will get to know you. They will treat you like royalty and make you feel super welcome in Marrakech. We would highly recommend staying here if you want a comfortable and enjoyable cultural experience.
City break to Marrakech
Marrakech is one of the most exciting and vibrant cities I have visited. The people are very friendly and it is easy to get around on foot. Food is really good and great value for money. We stayed in a Riad which was near the Medina and I would recommend a similar location. Highlights: people, food, markets, Hakkam experience, weather (31 degrees in March), architecture.
Beautiful tradition riad
Our room was amazing. Staff were very friendly, helpful and relaxed. Very clean. Location was good with a 10-15 min walk to the souks. It is tucked away in what seems like a residential area so it was nice to get away from the crazy hustle and bustle of the centrel medina. The only points to warn is: the pool is very small and very cold and also in the shade in the afternoon. It was February so maybe in the summer months it gets more sun? And also the lay out of the rooms on the lower floor being right next to dining- social area could make it noisy in bed if other guests are having late drinks. Over all a fantastic place to stay with a general feeling of relaxed, cultured quality. Defiantly recommended.
Typical Riad 15 mins from the main square
Fabulous staff Very relaxing. A great pace to explore Marrakesh
Home from home
A short but sweet stay. Immediately felt welcomed by Sofian whilst enjoying the beautiful tangerine trees in the lounge then a lovely Moroccan tea overlooking stunning views from the King's palace through to the alps mountains. Our room was emaculate. Fit for a king, clean and luxurious filled with beautiful aromas. Breakfast was amazing so fresh and filling which always filled us ready for an adventurous day. The team at riad la maison rouge always made us feel welcome they went above and beyond to make our stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible, they also gave great information of Medina where to go, how to get there and offered many excursions including an in house hamman and spa. Which was absoultey amazing. Overall we have nothing but great positives to say about both the hotel and staff. We will definitely return. A home away from home. We loved it so much we even accidently took the room key with us. Sorry again. Hope you've recieved both the key and a gift to say thank you in the post already. Will see you all again soon.
We booked this riad we checked in but left after few hours, secluded in old part of the city in a back ally didn't feel safe wasn't near the center for the price not worth it you rather book hotel in the new part of marrakech
Messed up with my booking
When I tried to check in I was told the hotel was fully booked so they sent me to another road, which was worse and far from town. Staff was very friendly though
An amazing hotel with very convenient location.
A very helpful and welcoming staff always there to help. We will definitely book the same riad for our next visit to Marrakesh.
Nothing too much trouble.....
This was our 7th trip to Marrakech and certainly the best. The Riad was fun, lively and luxurious, the photos are very accurate. All the staff went out of their way to make sure we had a good time. The 20 minute walk into the square made sure we got to see another area of the city. We are intending to return next spring and will definitely come back. Thank you all for a memorable stay!
Pleasant stay
Such a lovely oasis in a lively area. Once we managed to figure our way around the town, it was a relief and pleasure to come back to a relaxing and homely place. We were always made to feel welcome by all of the staff. I would highly recommend staying here... the only slight downside is that it is a 15 walk to the square but once you do it a few times, there is great satisfaction in the achievement of finding your way home! And a lovely home to come back to. The rooms are lovely, the top terrace is beautiful and relaxing and everything is quiet and peaceful. The staff are all willing to help in anyway they can. The service of drinks and food is slow, but that is the case for the whole of the city - there is no rush.
Beautiful hotel in a quiet neighbourhood
Good hotel overall, close to the main square but still in a quiet neighbourhood. Beautiful facilities, nice rooms and swimming pool, friendly staff. However the breakfast was pretty bad, and the food in general poor.
Nice Hotel in walking distance to sites.
Hotel was in walking distance to many of the tourist attractions. Staff were very friendly and always willing to help with any issues Will definitely visit again...Thank you guys for making our visit pleasant.
Amazing and Perfect Vacation
Our stat at the Riad La Maison Rouge was totally amazing. The Riad was beautiful and so clean. The staff was absolutely incredible and were so helpful in every way. It was our anniversary and we bought a cake from a bakery in the souke. The staff put candles and presented it to us while we were sitting alone. It was wonderful. They played soft music and it was perfect. I will recommend this Riad to all my friends and will most definitely stay there again.
Beyond expectation!
Myself and my girlfriend were blown away with this hotel! We had never visited Marrakech so had no idea what to expect, and we found the riad to be beyond any expectation we could have had. The service was incredible, the staff truly made every attempt to go above and beyond to make our stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible and were so warm and welcoming. The riad itself was beautiful and very peaceful, the staff were very helpful booking excursions for us, the rooftop lounge and pool area were fantastic and the room was very lovely. The food in Marrakech we found to be a bit limited in choice but this riad certainly made every meal very well. The only negative comment we could make was that food service was a little bit slow but besides that everything worked together to make a wonderfully romantic escape and we would definitely visit again!
Great hotel hospitality
We had a warm welcome in the ryad, the service was very good and the attention to detail made us very comfortable, the food was good, the breakfasts delicious, a young staff member named Halim threated us very well and was very polite, gave us good tips and most of the staff members speak several languages, it was a great service and great hotel. Hope to come back and enjoy the hospitality!
Lovely Marrakech Riad
I had a great time at Riad La Maison Rouge. My room was lovely and really clean and from what I saw of it, the other rooms looked very nice too. The staff was attentitive to any potential requests ( sometimes even when last minute ) and very accommodating. There is a decent size swimming pool on the roof terrace too and lots of lounging areas. I would definitely go back.
A Cut above...
We first stayed in another Riad, downtown which was quite charming. Then left for a few excursions out of town and ended our stay her at La Maison Rouge. From the outset it was a Cut Above the rest; much bigger rooms, a really COMFORTABLE and quite huge bed! And large en-suite bathroom. The staff were friendly and informative and the location was perfect. (Although a tad difficult to find)
Nice and queit
Great Riad, Clean rooms, Location in the Jewish quarter
Nice Riad near to the old part of Marrakesh.
Amazing experiance! Very kind stuff! Near to the old town!
Riad Maison rouge
Lovely Riad perfect for our stay, quite far out of the main medina but maybe a good thing as less hectic. The central area could be quite loud early in the morning as it was full when we stayed.
Horrible place, dangerous area-zero service !
Terrible experience ! Owner will not give directions and only gave us the address, which we had and the driver's number. Google Maps,et does not work since small alleys can not be found. There is no reception. No staff to ask anything. A guy opened the door, showed us to a room and disappeared. We didn't get a key and when asked if it was dangerous to go out the guys said he does not know. For 3 days we basically did not see any staff. Towels were not given-only when you hunted down the cleaner. Room was disgusting and dirty and completely NOT as descried. NOT a 4 STar Riad at all ! No bottled water, no slippers no wifi as described. Bathroom horrible and a see through door so you can watch and her your partner go to the loo! Our Makeup was gone through and that of our neighbors too and they also found make up on their towel after the cleaner was in their room. We asked for earlier breakfast on the last day and no staff was to be found !For 3 days no staff to get info from and no wifi but on last day we were hunted town repeatedly for the TAX! It was in a very dangerous area, girls had rocks thrown at them. Common area was the only thing nice but nobody can sit there cause everybody will hear you.Breakfast was bread and jelly. Very bad service/non existing and dishonest staff. Non caring owner. Terrible deal and big let down. We got a great deal-half price and it was still the worst place in Morocco and not even worth half price. Very far from town center and dangerous walk.
Comfortable
The owner lady was very helpful and nice but the internet connection was very poor, it took me over two hours to be able to book my next hotel.
Pretty Riad
We stayed here for 6 nights and really enjoyed our stay! The hotel staff were extremely friendly, in particular Hasna and Thierry and really met each and everyone of our needs. The only complaint we had was the lack of privacy in the bathroom as they had traditional carved patterned doors but this was a minor issue. The terrace is very nice and peaceful - perfect for evening drinks.
Marvellous Marrakech
Just returned from a 10 night stay at this hotel. The first two days were a bit of a struggle since it took a bit of time to navigate to the centre or square (whatever you want to call it). Do not listen to someone who directs you down a dark alley or narrow street with a gang possibly lurking by. In the square, DO NOT allow the guy to put the MONKEY in your hands (it will cost 100 Dh for a photo with it). The staff at the hotel were quite friendly and offered to arrange daily outings for us. A special mention to Hasna who gave us some good advice on how to enjoy Marrakech to its fullest. We had a day trip to the Atlas mountains which was the best trip in our entire holiday. Firstly, you get to CLIMB A MOUNTAIN! You also get to see waterfalls and the view was beautiful.
Excellent Staff
The staff at Riad Maison Rouge were amazing. Location is great!
Peaceful riad restored in a traditional style
La Maison Rouge has many original features and has been restored in an attractive style. It isn't in the smartest part of town though, so getting out to see the Medina and the rest of Marrakech or find a restaurant means walking some distance over very uneven pavements, being careful to avoid the maniac drivers on the busy narrow streets and in the souks. There were only two other guests staying during my five day break, and as a result some of the services one would normally expect seemed to be lacking, but it was a welcome escape from the streets, and the roof space was a plus when the sun was shining. Perhaps it was a mistake to visit in January and expect reasonably warm temperatures, but my room on arrival was very cold, there was no heating in the bathroom, and the open courtyard was really too cold to enjoy dinner in the evening. However, if I were to visit Marrakech again in Spring or Autumn, I would be happy to stay at La Maison with its pleasant staff, and where as a single traveller I felt safe.
Nice Hotel
The hotel looked lovely and inviting and the staff friendly. However, our towels were never replaced and we had to survive on 2 towels for 3 of us most of the time after one was not replaced. The toilet paper ran out and the shower gel and soap. We purposely didn't take our own because we were told this would be provided. The major disappointment though was when we ordered dinner - one chicken tagine, one lamb tagine and one vegetarian tagine, as one of my sisters is a vegetarian, and three chicken tagines came out. When we queried it the member of staff told us he was only the server and the food had been left for him to serve, we would need to take it up with the manager. We managed to get some cheese and yogurt for her instead, but she had been looking forward to the tagine. When we were presented with the bill in the morning it didn't bear any relation to what we had eaten. What we had ordered even with the vegetarian tagine totalled €50 and we were charged 660 dirhams (equivalent to €66 using their exchange rate). When we queried this we were told we would have to speak to the manager. We were leaving for the airport at 8 a.m. and the manager was not due to turn up until 8 a.m. I think this is very bad planning. I managed to get some money off, but I think we still paid too much, but as the manager was not there we could not do anything about it.
Great place to stay in the Medina
Enjoyed my stay very much. After a couple of days, I became quite well oriented and relaxed at our Riad. A lovely place to regroup from the bustle of Marrakech.
A Great Find
I stumbled upon this hotel when looking through Hotels.com and I'm glad I did. We arrived well after midnight yet there was a staff person on hand waiting for us. Because we'd arrived late they held breakfast for us the next morning almost an hour past it's usual ending time. This Riad is a quiet, comfortable place to stay. The neighbourhood is a bit dodgy and dirty and your cab driver may have a hard time finding Maison Rouge but once you're there you'll enjoy it. Oh, and let's not forget the staff - they're great!
Beautiful riad, quiet and relaxing
Traditional riad with beautiful, yet simple decoration and colors and furniture. The terrace is amazing and I was very glad to be able to work from such a pleasant setting every evening. Super quiet place. The staff was friendly and went out of their way to help us out. One thing to note though is that there are no nearby restaurants, so you'll have to walk about 10 minutes to get to the closest place (Cosy bar) which is not that great either. So nowhere to easily get a snack nearby. Otherwise a great place to stay and at a good price.
Very nice riad
Very nice place to stay. The two owners are very interesting and know a lot about the city. Very helpful staff.
Overall, Riad La Maison Rouge is a very good hotel, well decorated, comfortable, friendly, and centrally located near the Jamma Efna. The hotel taxes charged are questionable as the VAT rate charged was close to 33% added to the room rate of $97.93 CAD per night. Further, our Arabic-speaking taxi driver was unable to communicate with the French-speaking hotel staff for directions when we arrived in Marrkesh from Casablanca.
Nice riad situated in the medina
Very friendly and cheerful manager called Thierry, room was clean and comfortable however only 2 main problems: wifi was terrible and you have to ring doorbell to get let in and wait for someone to arrive. breakfast was average , swimming pool unused, courtyard was beautiful
Poor location, sub-standard service
This hotel is really more of a guest-house, with basic services, poorly furnished rooms and a very hard-to-reach location 10 minutes away on dirty, traffic filled roads to the interesting area of the city.
Nice and cosy!
Very nice hotel. Beautiful decoration and pleasant environment. Member of staff were friendly and helpful. The only thing is location which isn't too bad but most things are 15/20 min walking. I super recommend it.
A memorable stay
The hotel experience was really good, and the staff were extremely friendly. The hotel is within easy walking distance of Jamaa el Fana square, and is a real taste of authentic Morocco, being inside an old walled part of the city. Breakfast was simple but still nicer than many hotel breakfasts that I've had. The room was pretty small, considering it was advertised as a suite, but that's the way a lot of Riad hotels are. Likewise, the bathroom was very traditional and therefore not the most luxurious. All in all, a great local experience, but probably not what someone is looking for if they are looking for pure luxury.
More like a family home rather than a hotel
I enjoyed my stay there. Very good staff and it's so peaceful and relaxing. The only downside is finding the hotel as it's in a awkward to find location.
It was just ok
Two Nights Stay before Departure
My husband and I were staying before we returned to the UK, it also tied in with our wedding anniversary. The Riad is a beautiful, calm place to stay. The service excellent. Breakfast was varied and yummy. The terrace was excellent. Other clientel were also very friendly, if we stayed longer I am sure we all would have had fun. I marked the condition and maintenance down slightly as maintenance work was being carried out on the room next door. Would have not distrubed us if we were out for the day but my husband needed to rest so was a little distraction. We understand maintenance needs to be done and you can clearly see this from the beautiful way the Riad is kept. Location execellent for sight seeing, also to get onto the main routes if travelling out of Marrakech, also close to bars, restaurants and the medina. We will defo be staying again.
Good Riad and lovely pool - a walk to mains sights
I thought this riad was excellent value in a quite location in Berrima quater close to the Bahia palace 10-15 mins and the Mellah (Jewish Quarter). On arrival the staff could not find our reservation but this was solved quite quickly. The riad is not signposted off the main street so we had to get a couple of locals to show us. Our first room was vermillon (on the ground level) and we spent the first night there, however the room was quite damp and we could smell the damp when coming back from dinner. The next day we were moved to Petrus which was much better, quite a bit bigger and no damp. Thiery the manager was very obliguing and helpful. Breakfast on the terrace was lovely with excellet cake and freshly squeezed orange juice. The two pointers to note that the staff are very nice but dont speak much english so if your french is basic you might struggle a bit.Secondly the location - although in a quieter area of the old city, it is a real walk to the main square 25 mins plus and more to the Souks. Overall great value so would recommend but pack comfy shoes.
Relaxing hotel.
A lovely hotel. Very low key which was nice after the madness of the city. A 15 min walk into the square but we didn't find that a problem. The rooms were fine and the roof top terrace and plunge pool were great.
A lovely hotel
We felt as if we were staying with friends in their own home. Everyone was helpful, friendly and welcoming. The pool and terrace were lovely at all times of the day and Hesna's home cooked meal gave us a real taste of Morrocco. We loved the decor and the location, which was near enough to walk to the centre of town, but far away enough away to be a real haven. The room was really comfortable, clean and had everything we needed.
La Maison Rouge
A Riad not an hotel. The staff are great and the owner too. Advise taking taxi to and from the riad to get into the center, although not necessary if you are quick on your feet, traffic comes at you from everywhere. Breakfast all home made and plenty of it, eat as much as you like. The staff are so helpful and I was amazed at their grasp of our language. We went round the jewish area, only open to visitors on a Friday, worth a visit just to make you realize how lucky westeren people are.
In a quiet residential area
The hotel was a little walk from the square but because the route took you through the residential area you were able to see very busy streets, the locals going about their business and it was really entertaining. The accomodation was an oasis of calm in comparison to Marrakech's busy streets. The rules of the road are "who dares wins" - its a complete free for all. Marrakech is a really interesting place to visit showing a unique way of life. Expect to be hassled by the locals wanting to sell you things. The local food was good, mainly kebabs and tagines. Alcohol was expensive but affordable. Marrakech is a wonderful place to spend afew days. Take a trip to the Atlas mountains - be prepared for the cold in comparison to Marrakech. Visit the Mamounia Hotel and The Grand Hotel Tazi for two completely different experiences. All in all excellent.
poor hotel
Room was badly maintained with cracks in the wall. Breakfast is poor.
30th March-2nd April. Very relaxed, calm riad.
We had a very pleasent stay at the La Maison Rouge between 30th March - 2 April 2012. Upon arrival we where a little worried about the place as the exteriour doesnt seem to offer much, but once you step inside it is a whole other story. Very relaxed place and very tranquil. A great place to retire to after the hussle of the streets. We found the location to be a little awkward, with about a 10 min walk to the squire, and where it wasnt the distance that was the issue, but the road that you had to take to get to the squire not having pavements for the first 1/4 mile, so you are forced to walk along a very manic, busy road. So not great for kids. But fine for adults. However you shouldnt be put off by this, because anywhere else would have been to close to the square and therefor very noisey. We stayed in a Junior suite, and i would say that is a must, as we had a peak at the normal rooms, and they did look a little on the small side, We're not even sure if they had there own bathhrooms in them. Tho dont quote me on this. The staff and manager where a great help, and went out of there way to help, Inc booking us onto a camel trek with no fuss at all. All in all, with Marrakech being a very intense, uncompromising city. To have a relaxed calm Riad to retire to is a must, and i doubt you'll find many more relaxing then the La Maison Rogue. Why stay in a hotel when you can experiance a riad??
lovely
A lovely Riad with the benefit of a small rooftop pool
Cosy
I can make this quite short: The hotell is not absolutely excellent, but the atmosphere is very authentic and etcnic. Breakfast is boring, but freshly squeezed orange juice makes up for a LOT. The staff is very nice, though mostly French or Arab speaking - except for the manager, who is fluent in English. The tours arranged by the hotell costs in average twice as much as anywhere else, so pick another place. All in all: very nice place, just not excellent.
Great few days away
Very well run Riad. Staff there if and when you need them. Well situated for local tourist attractions. We specifically chose this Riad as it was not in the hotel cluster elsewhere. Pleasant room, very comfortable.
Riad Maison Rouge Marrakesh
Fully agree with the positive comments regarding the host/ owner and the breakfast. He couldn't have been more helpful and the varied breakfast got the day off to a good start. It is not easy to find so ask the riad to book you a taxi from the airport which was worth the money. You did have to take your life in your own hands to reach most of the attractions, with cars and mopeds weaving in and out of each other. Mind you most sights were within walking distance. Unfortunately our bed needed a new mattress. Very pretty riad with a nice pool and super roof terrace.
Location
Near to the centre of the old town of Marrakech (15 mins walk). Quiet location. Not ideal if you want to go to the New Town.
A welcoming retreat in the medina
Had a great time at the Maison Rouge, a beautiful riad in the district of Berrima. Room was spacious, clean and well-decorated. Breakfast was served each day with coffee, bread, pancakes, fruit, yoghurt and orange juice. Staff are friendly and happy to make you a mint tea whenever you fancy it! There's also a fully-stocked bar, small pool and loungers on the roof. Riad was in a residential area which is difficult to find at first but within walking distance of all the main sites. You can also have dinner at the riad and book a massage at the hammam if you want.
Riad La Maison Rouge Marrakech
A tremendous oasis of wellbeing and peace at walking distance of lots of highlights in this vibrating city. This beautifully restyled riad is a wonderfull and and tastefull combination of styles. The owner/manager is very thoughtfull and service minded and looking after his guests with a personal touch.
lovely slice of calm in the hectic medina
lived up to the recommendation i had received from my sister. good value and can provide meals and guides on request. personal touches and good location for walking into town etc, but v quiet inside and barely heard the mosque (but winter so windows were closed at night...)
Oasis in the Medina
Riad La Maison Rouge was a great escape from the daily craziness of Marrakech medina. Rooms were clean and large. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooftop terrace, complete with pool, was a great place to relax during the heat of the day or unwind before bed. There is a bar on the roof and the riad will make you dinner (something, unfortunately, we didn't take advantage of). The staff will help to arrange and activities, but don't push or sell. We went quadding outside of the city and it was a great experience. The only downside is finding the riad to begin with, but once you walk around the neighborhood, it is pretty easy to travel to and from. If I'm ever in Marrakech again, I would absolutely stay at the Maison Rouge.
Superb Riad
Excellent first impressions with the striking red and black theme. We walked into peace and tranquility from the busy street and could not believe that there was absolutely no street noise, not even from the roof terrace! Lovely staff, especially Mohammed who spoke good English and couldn't do enough for us. The room was very clean, the bed and pillows were the most comfortable we had experienced during our trip and the roof top pool was very welcome in temperatures of 35+ degrees. The only criticism would be that the breakfast was basic compared to those we had further south. The main square and the Souks were only about 15-20 minutes walk from the Riad and an easy route. Thierry organised an early breakfast for us and a taxi to the airport on departure day. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone wishing to receive first class hospitality within the Medina and would definitely return if visiting Marrakech in future. Thanks to all the staff for making our stay so memorable, especially Mohammed
Traditional and exotic riad
This is easily my favourite place I've ever stayed at. A traditional riad decorated incredibly tastefully in deep reds on white with exotic feeling dark, carved furniture. Little touches like flower heads being left to float in the water feature really set the place off. The location is good (10 mins from the main square, 5 mins from a smaller one). Courtyard is amazing with trees in it and plenty of soft furnishing. The roof terrace, where breakfast is served, has amazing views of the atlas mountains on a clear day. Perhaps not for everyone though. A very gritty, urban area which may make some feel uncomfortable (but then maybe Marrakech isn't for you) but it's very safe and has lots of character to the area. Due to the design of the door between the bathroom and the room it didn't give you much privacy when sharing the room (perhaps not for new couples - we resorted to kicking each other out into courtyard when we needed a little bit more privacy or using the separate, shared 'prive'). No locks on the doors is a bit odd, but a safe is provided. Feels like a safe hotel but I was glad that I didn't take my netbook. Definitely would recommend to friends.
Nice weekend in asunny locaiton
Marrakech is a great city for a weekend away form UK .It has amazing weather and generally the whole experience is great if you think that it is only 3 and a half hours flying from London. The Riad were we stayed need some maintenance (especially in the bathrooms) . We were also very disappointed by the dinner we had at the hotel riad on our last night..so I won't suggest to anyone dining there.
Riad La Maison Rouge--Very disappointing!
Based on the pictures, the hotel looked very nice, and the ad claimed it was very close to the main square. All entirely false. We reserved a Junior suite, the room contained a bed and bedside tables only. There was no place to sit and talk except on the bed, most junior suites i've stayed in the past had a little sitting area, or at the very least a couple of chairs. The room did not have a telephone, TV, hairdryer or even locks on the doors. when we bought anything, we had no place to put it except for on the floor! Breakfast was coffee, juice and bread, one morning there were some tired looking bananas. It was at lease a 20/25 minute walk from the hotel to the main square, and a very scary walk back to the hotel at nights, as there were no lights in the area of the hotel. As the hotel rooms had no locks , subsequently no keys to lock your door. When entering the hotel you had to ring the bell and wait for them to open the door. I would not stay at this hotel again, nor would I recommend this hotel to anyone. The management needs to spend a few extra dollars a day on some fresh fruit, some local olives, cheese and or sweet rolls would be a nice addition to the bread served at breakfast. This was our honeymoon. very, very disappointing!
A wonderful escape
From the moment we arrived until we departed, our stay at La Maison Rouge fulfilled expectations. The hotel was very well kept with a lovely courtyard and charming rooms. The rooftop had a nice patio with lounge chairs and breakfast was served up here in the sunshine. Fresh squeezed orange juice and mint tea were our favorite beverages. Location - It was a little bit difficult to locate - we got lost twice trying to find our way back the first night from dinner, but that is part of the charm of Marrakesh! It is tucked away off a little square, and is a 10-15 minute walk to the restaurants / souks for shopping. Will stay here again on our next visit to Marrakesh!
Good Hotel
This riad had a great theme of red and beautiful courtyard and terrace. Location was perfect. Some of the fixtures in the rooms though need to be repaired/modified--toilet, showerhead, etc. I wish breakfast was more diverse instead of just whole fruit, cake, Moroccan flat bread, baguettes, and jam with tea/coffee. I wish some more local delicacies like donuts and pastries were available. At least one hot item would have been nice in addition to sliced cheese. Mint tea should also be available. I would also have liked cut fruit and yoghurt. At least 4-5 different items would be sufficient.
Maison rouge
Fabulous riad!! simply stunning as soon as you walk in. The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. The manager organsied a lot of extra activies and booked taxis for us as well as give us a map. The riad is very quiet and peaceful with a beautiful bar and pool terrance. Dont execpt any wild parties!! it is VERy quiet, which is definately what you need when your're in Marrakech!!!! a bit tricky to find intially but once we got our bearings, it was so simple. Overall an excellent place to stay and would definately stay there again.
Great experience
Staying in a riad is a great way to experience Marrakech. This one is great - lovely place, lovely rooms, relaxing terrace, very helpful Manager, just a bit of a hairy walk to the main square and souks ! Raid does offer car service from airport but its only a pre booked normal taxi and works out quite pricey. Would suggestfinding a taxi when you arrive for about 100 - 150 MAD. Just have the address ready.
Better than expected!
Lovely riad with very efficient staff. Our room (the only room on the roof terrace) was air-conditioned but not sure if this is the case for all rooms. Breakfast was pretty good and the help yourself system at the bar was a bonus. However, the riad is pretty difficult to find in the maze of small streets in the southern medina so be prepared to have lots of offers from locals (in exchange for money, of course!) to help you find your way back in the evenings.
Relativamente aceptable
Cosy Riad
The overall experience was good! The staff was very nice. But the spa and the breakfast at the riad was not good.
Staffs're really nice. They provided me a cheap and save ride from hotel to the airport.
Prachtig Riad in de Medina
Prachtig Riad, mooie sfeervolle kamers, fijn dakterras met zwembad, zeer vriendelijk personeel, fijne hammam, lekker eten, op loopafstand van alle hoogtepunten in Marrakech
Perfect!
Nice and easy Riad, with really good, friendly and helpful staff... Easy to get to all the main attractions from the Riad - (Walking distance). Ask the Riad to arrange transfer, when arriving in Marrakech, it can be tricky to find the Riad on your own.
Gemütliches Riad in super Lage
Centralissimo e molto pulito
Pulito comodo ottima colazione persone gentile. Tante escursioni organizzate. Servizio navetta molto comodo. Insomma molto bene
Hotel is oke!
Super Riad
Lovely stay
Not to far from jemma el fna (less than 15min walk), good service, nice breackfast and wondefull terrace on the top. A little bit difficult to find just like everything in Marrakesh.
A place of paradise in Marrakesh
An absolute Paradise, located on a quiet side street away from the hustle and bustle of the Medina area this hotel offers first class rooms decorated in ethnic regional furnishings. All rooms have large comfortable beds ensuite bathrooms and tons of toiletries and amenities. A large spacious Central Courtyard, a rooftop swimming pool, ample chill out and breakfast areas, an in-house hamman Spa makes this the perfect place to pamper yourself relax and unwind. Close by large Central Plaza where variety of food stalls merchants and shops await your exploration. I cannot recommend this property enough for all the wonderful amenities, friendly helpful concierge taking extra steps and going out of the way to ensure all guests have a pleasurable memorable experience
