The spot was nice, you can go out and shop nearly stores. One thing i didn’t like is the bathroom, i booked for 2 beds room, and i am disappointed. I was thought that were having a nice bathroom, we had accessibility, that was hard for us to used it there’s not to much divider to put stuffs like using when showering, the floor is old, no floor divider for water to come in the toilet bowl.
Great location, but, a tired hotel in need of rejuvenation (rooms included).
Nice place
Beautiful stay
Will stay here again
Great location and helpful staff. THe room was very comfortable and the large, clean, walk in shower was perfect.
A great location for events at the Halifax Convention Centre as well as most of the downtown attractions
Great location. Friendly and accommodating staff
Great property. Great service. Only drawback is the. Implement lack of parking especially on a Saturday night
Early check in was very much appreciated
This was a clean hotel inside. The pub across the road had speakers blaring in our room on the second floor until 2:30am and then there was a stabbing outside our window shortly there after. I know you get these isolated instances with larger city’s but staff was not overly kind when we asked for a different room for our last two nights, however, they did accommodate in the morning and we were able to switch to the inside, much quieter part of the hotel. Also parking was full so we had to park down the street which then got blocked with tape so the police could do their investigation.
The staff were very polite and helpful, the room was very nice and clean, breakfast was lovely and area was convenient.
Great location for walking to the Citadel, Parks, and Waterfront. Close to many restaurants and bars. Did not need to use our car staying here. Great staff!
Well service
Fantastic staff! Great location for a three day trip
Everything was perfect. Except for the student gatherings with music from 10pm to 3am right below our window Did not bothet my husband and brother though All old town attravtion were eithin walking distance. Wonderful
Great stay
This property is so clean and fresh. The room was amazing with a great view of Argyle Street! We will totally stay again. Only thing we didn't like was during breakfast it was so busy there was no where to sit for over 35mins. But...it wa worth the wait.
Road noise and evening noise after pubs closed was quite loud in our room until after 0200 nightly. Clean room. Comfortable bed. Great breakfast. Excellent staff.
This hotel was in a very convenient location to my conference and allowed enjoyable times walking the boardwalk along the habour front
The hotel itself was very nice, and in a great walkable location. Staff were helpful and friendly and the breakfast was delicious. However - I wouldn't stay here again. I had a 2nd floor room facing the pub (Maxwell's Plum) and I barely got any sleep. The pub was blasting music well past 3AM every night which severely limited my sleep.
Really nice and helpful front desk staff, and spacious, well-appointed rooms. Central to everything.
When we first checked in we asked if we could change rooms and they said it was sold out. It was noisy at the local bars and we could hear everything in the room. We were up half the night.
We booked our room here months in advance. Received a confirmation the day before our arrival. We flew in from the west coast and at our layover point received an e-mail saying they had overbooked the hotel and we were being sent to a different hotel. We specifically chose this hotel because of its central location around entertainment and dining options. They put us in a hotel on the periphery of downtown. In the e-mail they sent they made it sound like they were doing us a favor by making sure we were charged the same rate at the new place for the exact same room type and that there was still breakfast included :(
Wonderful place but SUPER NOISY until the wee hours of the morning as it is right in the middle of the downtown action!
Great Location. Staff was very knowledgeable and excellent customer service.
Enjoyed our stay
Staff very professional and helpful. Enjoyed the rooftop. The breakfast was amazing
Good place to stay
Breakfast area was poorly set up, should have beeb bigger. Poorly designed. Not enough choices for gluten free products and lactose intlorance.
Front desk staff very friendly. Breakfast options including gluten free were good for a hotel.
We absolutely loved staying here! Excellent location, and our suite was spacious, clean, and comfortable. We had an early night, because we felt so comfortable in our suite. Amazing shower, with a great selection of toiletries. The breakfast buffet was excellent as well. Finally, the staff were ALL very friendly and helpful.
Nice spacious clean room. Very noisy outside but it was after all a Saturday night. Was surprised how you could hear the music, not sound proof at all
Clean, friendly and walking distance to everything!
This hotel was comfortable and the convenience of having a kitchenette was awesome. It was very close and easy to walk to most places downtown. We brought our dog, and it was a seamless experience for him, other than that he wasn’t used to watching people through the windows up high, so that made him a little freaked out. The area was a little sketchy, with many homeless folks and people asking for money. My husband would take our dog for late night/early morning walks because he was worried about me walking alone. I can’t say I wasn’t also worried about that. That said, downtown Halifax in general is a lot more run down than I remember.
Great location, staff and service. Clean and well maintained. Only complaint was that the elevators fresh air supply must be close to the dumpsters outside.
Very noisy. Wouldnt recommend with kids. Bar open until 3am across the street so be prepared to be up all night.
Hard bed terrible pillows and the breakfast service was terrible spent over an hour waiting for restock of food got none. Almost everything was empty! Staff very grouchy!!
the room was very nice , well layed out , every thing you could need was there . it was quiet (did not hear any other guests.) the breakfast had hot and cold items and was great teasting.
They charged us for parking but never discussed fees or cost when we checked in which was a bit of a pain. Band at the pub next door is quite loud but was fine with headphones on.
The stay would have met or exceeded all expectations but for one thing - do not expect to get any sleep until the nearby patios close at 2:00 a.m.
Bel hotel sur la rue Argyle près de beaucoup des restaurants et de la citadelle
Halifax stay
Large comfortable room. Comfortable bed and good shower. Walkable local area with a short walk to the waterfront area (uphill return walk though!)
Great time, close to everything. Lots of food and pubs. Short walk to the boardwalk.
ok
Convenient location close to many attractions.
We prepaid for a room with another couple that we were on vacation with. When we arrived, they said they did not have our room. They sold it to someone else. So they put us up in another hotel that was 10 minutes away (and made us take a taxi there) and was not in the downtown area. The other couple was still in our hotel, so it essentially ruined our vacation. You should NEVER stay at this hotel.
Great Location, But Be Warned!
Staff is very nice. Great amenities, with a 24 hr workout room. Breakfast is plentiful with a great assortment of things to eat. Our one BR King Suite was very nice. The bed was very comfortable. The TVs huge. Wifi worked well. Small kitchenette would be great for long term stays. Parking below was a great convenience and made for a secure place to keep the car while exploring the city on foot. Only charged $25/day. The convenience of the location can not be beat!! Only a couple blocks from The Citadel and the Harbor!! You need to know that the Inn location is adjacent to the City Convention Center and it is a pedestrian nightlife area (Sackville Ave/Argyle St). On weekends, the restaurants/bars do not close until 2am. There are bands playing or outside music. With that, nightlife noise is elevated, so be forewarned. You will hear it. This is not a quaint/quiet area. You should call and see if your room abuts Argyle St. If you desire quiet, try the other side of the hotel. While Halifax has rules on noise, in a nightlife area, the rules are enforced only when complaints are registered. The noise from 12:15 to 1:30am required a phone call to the police to ask an amplified street performer to stop at playing directly under the Argyle St. side rooms. The two police officers stationed at Argyle St., were literally 100 ft away from the performer and did not do a thing for 60 minutes, until a supervising officer came by and talked to the performer.
Great location but very noisy from the nearby bars into the early hours of the morning. .
Too many residents living there and cooking smells. Staff do not care about the people who are not residents. Reservations all messed up. No supplies had to go get myself. Bad experience.
I had a prepaid a room at this hotel and upon arrival was informed that the property was overbooked and I was moved to a different hotel more than 10 minutes away. This was extremely inconvenient and costly as We were traveling with others and sharing a car, so then we needed to Uber back and forth. The hotel room did not have a kitchenette - I was Very disappointed. The only positive was the Marriott property committed to reimbursing me, which I am still waiting for confirmation.
This property is down town close to many restaurant's, pubs and night life. Walkable to the waterfront.
Près de tout à Halifax. Stationnement accessible .Bon déjeuner . Très bon service. Lit confortable Je vais y retourner
Be aware that the pub across the street has loud live music on Saturday nights until 1:00am.
This property was quite nosy at night even though we stayed Monday thru Thursday, a lot of motorcycle / nightclub noise all night long and we were wearing earplugs. Not a good location if you have any walking (knee/hip etc) problems as it is all hills. The pool also needs a good cleaning. There was a lot of construction going on around this location.
My husband has a bad knee and so the location was tough with the steep hills. Also was in the entertainment area it seemed. Very loud at night with motorcycles and cars cranking their stereos. Would be a tough fit for family with small children and anyone with mobility issues. The staff was top notch at hotel and the hotel itself was great including breakfast.
Great location, not necessarily quiet
Careful of which night you are staying...The "fun" on the street just behind can be quiet loud into the wee hours.
Very nice hotel in the middle of downtown Halifax. Staff very friendly. Everything here was so clean. The room was extremely spacious (as Residence Inns are) and this one was cleaner than some that I have seen in other cities. Great breakfast was provided. The parking was gone by the time we arrived at 8:00 p.m., so we parked three blocks away in the public garage and it only cost $12. The exercise was good for us. By the way, there are big hills to climb if that is an issue. We had drinks across the street in one of the many pubs. Restaurants are everywhere! The harbor was right next to the parking garage and had so many fun activities. Warning - there is noise at night due to the many nightclubs surrounding the area. My earplugs did the job.
Excellent breakfast, large rooms.
Very nice room. Clean and central. However, very noisy in the evenings on weekends as the hotel is located right across from Rogers Square which contains several bars and pubs.
Very nice place to stay. Staff is excellent!
Dont hesitate to stay here
From check in to check out everything was perfect. Staff (Immay) and room were the best in halifax.
Daily cleaning is not available I highly recommend cleaning staff to clean the rooms everyday and to put safes in every room for important travel documents.
Great location
Shower had very little hot water would be my biggest complain other than that its a good hotel
Nice place well located to the Neptune Theatre and a lot of the local pubs.
Ordered a queen size studio but only was a double
breakfast was great- room comfortable- good exercise room room key to exercise room did not work-staff were great to open- sliding window door in room not good-
Outstanding in all respects!!! Great facility that’s convenient and safe. A heated underground parking garage is a real plus!!! My room came equipped with kitchen utensils and appliances! I felt at home all week here!!!! I LOVE EVERYTHING about this hotel!!!
Waited 20 minutes for check in because there was no staff around. We even walked around to try and find someone to help us multiple times throughout our stay. The room we stayed in was not cleaned and someone else’s food was left in the fridge.
We stayed for 2 nights. Room was nice, equipped with a kitchenette (full size fridge, dishwasher etc.) icemaker didn’t work however. When we entered the room upon arriving there was potato chips on floor by the bed and white residue on bathroom counter. There was no hair dryer in the bathroom?! We had to pay for parking. Staff was friendly. I woke up at 2am on the first night because of the noise from the street (people leaving the bars). In the morning I asked for a can which they delivered to the room so that helped drown out some outside noise but on the 2nd night we were woken up by the fire alarm that someone had pulled (no fault of the hotel). Breakfast was great the first morning but on the second morning there were many empty trays… Overall if you’re looking for an average room right in the middle of downtown Halifax, short walking distance to great restaurants and pubs and not worried about limited parking this is for you!
The hotel is in a great location. We felt very safe ealking around. The only drawback was the pub across the street played LOUD music until after 2:00am. Other than that we highly recommend it.
Close to everything.
Nice property and close to all downtown things to do.
Great location, lovely room, clean and well equipped
We had a wonderful 6-night stay at this hotel. The staff was absolutely excellent – kind, helpful, and genuinely nice people. Our room was equipped with a fully stocked kitchen, which we loved. The left side of the bed was incredibly comfortable, but the right side had a noticeable dent in the middle, which was a bit disappointing. However, the bathroom was clean and comfortable to use. One thing to note is that Friday and Saturday nights can be quite noisy due to a nearby pub that hosts karaoke until 3 am. The staff offered us the option to move to a quieter room, but we decided to stay in our room. We didn't experience any music disturbance for the remainder of our stay, which was a pleasant surprise. The breakfast buffet was excellent, with a wide variety of delicious food, and the staff there was also very kind and attentive. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to stay here again in the future.
Great place to stay !! Staff very friendly.
Terrible experience. Upon checkin we were told they didn’t have a room for us despite having our conf #. They were going to place us in another hotel at the other end of Halifax . We declined this as we originally booked this particular hotel as it was close to the venues we had planned to attend and needed to be within walking distance. To be placed in one much further away was unacceptable…to not have our reservation fulfilled which they had notice of was unacceptable. Cannot put into words the level of disappointment with this hotel that we feel!!!
The location was great!
The hotel was nice but it is right beside a pedestrian street that has bars open until 330am every night! So we barely slept listening to loud music and crowds until 4am every night of our stay (Friday-Tuesday). I asked the hotel staff about the noise and their response was ‘well that’s the party street’. Not sure how anyone knows this if they’ve never been to Halifax before. Book anywhere else!
Room was very spacious.
High volume of noise till 930 due to the beer garden. Not ideal for light sleeping children. Location is great. Parking available at a cost. Room prices high but include a kitchen.
Great stay except for the noise level coming from the bar across the street. Just something to think about but overall a great stay and such friendly staff! Very clean property. Enjoyed the spacious room we had. Location is amazing for walking around and enjoying the downtown area.
Great location! Decent breakfast
The staff was friendly and helpful. It was clean. However, it was an odd layout with light switches in odd areas. The pillows were very tired and unsupportive. I wasn’t looking for hard pillows, but something with substance. Overall it was fine it just wasn’t anything special.
Fairly affordable when comparing to other hotels in the area. Unfortunately our window backed onto “maxwell’s plum” which was a very noisy bar, even on a Sunday till late. Location was great for restaurants and shops, and harbour front. We walked everywhere. The bathroom I expected more of, there was the pink mold that grows on grout on our floor and some other mold on the caulk in the shower. Tub didn’t drain well BUT I told them at checkout as it was fine enough during our stay and they were already calling maintenance by the time I walked out the door. Overall a good stay and place to sleep
We booked a king room and the view out the window was looking into rooming house windows and a roof. No view of the street. I notified Front Desk that I was disappointed with the room and they accommodated me to another room with a great view of Halifax. The bed was comfortable and we made supper in the full kitchen. Parking is indoor and very convenient. Extra cost for parking. Staff is excellent. The complementary breakfast was spectacular. I highly recommend this property if you are staying in the Halifax area.
Had made a reservation thru Expedia in March 2023. #90203187. Confirmation we received said room had 2 queen beds and was a studio with sofa bed. However, when we arrived had a single bed. Very unhappy with what Expedia did - changing it to one bed. Won't go thru Expedia again for reservations!
I love the size of the room & a full kitchen were I can cook full meals on-site.
Excellent location and well equipped room But- the bed was like sleeping on a slab of concrete, extremely uncomfortable. Marriott beds are usually quite comfortable so we were disappointed by this place. Lots of outside noise due to the many bars around the area. Bring ear plugs and you’ll be fine.
The property room had roaches, engineering was rude. Front desk clerk seemed not to know how to process payment.
Got two double beds instead of the requested queen. Bathroom is one giant shower for a wheelchair so water goes everywhere and no tub.
The my most favourite hotel stay
Things were busy at the breakfast buffet, many people looking for a place to sit, maybe a spot to put the dirty dishes for those who are done eating, since the area can only accommodate a limited number of people at a time. I looked for a compost bin in my room, but there sis not seem to be one. I have stayed at that property a few times and the time before last I told the staff that it was noisy because of the bar right across street, so it was noisy this time around too. There didn't seem to be any one staffing the check out desk when I left on Saturday morning, so I could not ask about the room availability or the reason they gave me the same room as last time. It was very busy with people up and about and even some appeared to be leaving, so not sure why there was no staff for departures..
I was attending a conference and it is across the road from the convention centre, very convenient. Many good restaurants within a block or two. Easy walk to the waterfront, museums, citidel, and other attractions. The included breakfast is typical and filled the void in my gut.
Where has service gone??
Stayed 4 nights. Wasn't looking for daily room reset, but did ask if we could get more toilet paper and recycling bin emptied. On repeated times, said they would, but didn't. Finally we were much more stern. Finally day 3 they obliged! And then 11:15 on check out, while finishing a business call, front desk called and asked if we were out!! Additionally, they said their system had a gliltch so moving people to a hotel farther away. I protested and they finally reinstated, but other people who had booked months prior were moved. Appeared to be taking advantage of current pricing vs those of us who booked a while back anticipating the rush on rooms for the conference...
Used inside parking, it was extremely low, pipes etc everywhere. Wouldn't use indoor parking unless you have a tiny car
everything
Great location
Garbage kept in P1 parking ... smell was gross ..smelt in the hotel that's how bad it was
Had everything I needed and more.
