The staff was great and very helpful.
The staff was great! Merci!
OK
Unfriendly staff, very average food and terrible service at the restaurant. Room ok and pool nice but for a family not easy because of the schedule : kids only in the morning. Not a 5 stars standards
Friendly staff.
Excellent concierge, Melvin, who spent lots of his precious time to help us to call places to look for our mishandling by the airlines. We appreciated his patience, manner, and recommendation. Front desk, Stephan, was kind and nice. The exit level of the basement parking lacks elevator access which was difficult for moving larger luggage. Easy to get lost as the basement parking and main entrance of the hotel are not located on the same street. Lacking exterior access and direction between these two entrances of the hotel.
For a 5 star hotel, it was just average. Like most "expensive" hotels, everything was overpriced and the hotel under delivered. The shower was dangerous, the pool are was cheesy, the breakfast was outrageously over priced and the fruit served was rotten.
Great hotel within easy walking distance to the centre of Aix. Lovely heated pool to relax in after a day of sightseeing in beautiful Provence. Helpful and friendly staff. First class.
Wonderful staff and location. There were some features in our room that were quite worn out, but overall the stay was excellent.
Great location!
Hôtel had a lovely pool and spa area which made the trip enjoyable and more relaxing!
Excellent
Great hotel, couple of niggles but nothing that would stop me staying again. Breakfast was lovely but moving through the week several items stopped being available, by the last day there was no sausages, no white bread and no pancakes. The pool is great and well maintained with a chilled beach vibe. Table service is available but drinks are little on the steep side. The common areas are clean and modern but the pool table in the bar, that the boys enjoyed, disappeared on the third day?! The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff are super friendly and the mix of nationalities in the guests made it feel truly international. The hotel is 5 mins walk from the town with loads of bars and restaurants.
Poor breakfast buffet, especially the eggs Great concierge, Sophia was really helpful
Very friendly staff in clean, pristine installations.
Dirty
This was a huge disappointment, the initial arrival gave warning signs this was clearly not a 5 star property. Upon check in the lobby was very average, not indicative of 5 star - we had to queue to actually get the keycard, only one lift working and generally overall very average service. When we arrived to our room, we discovered the bedding and specifically the pillows, were covered in hairs (both beds), and also the mattress topper - clearly this is not changed between residents, which is really disgusting as these were equally as dirty (with hairs) as the pillows. The shelf behind the beds appeared to have never been cleaned either, we used a baby wipe to clean this - really not a pleasant thing to have to do. We promptly contacted House keeping, who changed the sheets but no apology from the hotel when we made them aware at checkout. Another thing to mention was the smell coming from the sink drain, we had to rectify this by putting the plug in when not in use. Not a huge inconvenience but really not great. Breakfast was a buffet style help yourself, this was ok, however we needed to be in promptly for 6:30 and the staff were still bringing things out even when we were leaving, and we had to ask for other items, like butter as there wasn’t any out. Overall, certainly not a 5 star hotel and definitely not a 5 star service. The worst Marriott owned property we have ever visited

Everyone from the front desk, valet, dining and housekeeping were all very nice, helpful and professional. Not exactly in Old Town but very close and walkable. The hotel and amenities were quite modern and clean.
Clean and convenient.
Wonderful property. We loved the pool!
Nice property and friendly, attentive staff. Swimming pool and garden area was a treat. The room was comfortable, lots of storage space. One suggestion, time to change the bathrobes, they are old and worn.
Poorly maintained
Hotel location is quiet but walkable to shopping / eating areas. Service is good.
Restaurant not great. Staff very friendly!
Merci mille fois!
Value for moiney in Aix en Provence
All the team are TOP, starting with reception, passing thru cleaning and restaurant. Excellent breakfast, big room.
Clean & convenient.
We stay here whenever we are in the area for our sons football tournaments. The staff are great - friendly and accomodating.
Modern comfort close to historic centre
Great place to stay in modern comfort and explore the city. Easy walk to the historic centre. Very nicely designed rooms, large, modern and comfortable. We very much enjoyed our stay!!
Magnífico
Un magnífico hotel para una magnífica ciudad
Rooms were clean and AC worked. Pool closed for season despite appearance on Expedia website. No pool for 80 degree weekend was disappointing. Hotel staff nice and diligent. Helped me print my train tickets.
Good breakfast. Easily accessible.
Super kind and attentive staff. Clean and centrally located
Close to Casino, nice Hotel
Nothing unique. Mediocre food in the hotel restaurant
Really nice hotel - great facility, friendly staff......close to "old town"
The hotel was fantastic with staff very helpful in arranging activities and booking dinners. Hotel was close to city centre withing walking distance and had great amenities.
Front desk staff could be more friendly. Not a 5 star by American standards.
Not a 5 star experience
For a 5 star hotel, it felt a bit old and not very well kept. The room had lots os marks on the walls, the bedsheets had stains and I’m not sure if they were fresh. The pool was full at all times so we couldn’t use it during our stay. The staff were super friendly and helpful though so that was a plus. I also found the halls of the hotels leading to our room old and not very clean for a 5 star hotel, so the overall experience wasn’t worth the price. The location is great though.
Good hitel coveniently located. Friendly staff, nice breakfast and enjoyable swimming pool.
Everything was as good or better than advertised. Very quick and easy walk into town centre. Great pool, great beds, good service. Would stay again.
OUTSTANDING HOTEL. 5 stars!
Rooms were great. Pool was great. Thought the workout area could have had more weights. Staff was super helpful and friendly! Martin was fantastic!
Very nice staff and valet
Except for the 2 girls who were working on Saturday 6/24 around 15:00 pm at the check-in desk who never learned how to say hello and who don't know what a smile is everything else and everyone else were excellent. Property is new and clean and great location safe and near everything for dining and shopping.
Lovely hotel, very friendly staff
Our family of 4 ( kids ages 12 & 14) loved the hotel. Parents had king overlooking the pool. Kids had a room overlooking the courtyard. Air Conditioning amazing. Room has excellent blackout curtains ( you can get the room cold and pitch dark). bed very comfortable , cotton sheets and very comfy pillow. You can walk from hotel to restaurants in downtown in 10 minutes. Hotel has good breakfast in the hotel for extra $. service was good. cleaning also. I would rate this hotel in this category 5 out of 5 and would recommend it to others.
We had a wonderful stay at Renaissance Hotel. In fact, One of the employees, Kevin, was great enough to help us speak in French on our behalf with our previous hotel, where we had left our money and passports in the safe. He spoke with them and helped ensure that they secured our possessions and ask them to arrange a delivery to Renaissance Hotel. This was above and beyond what you would expect and he made our stay more enjoyable and relieved our stress instantly. We hope to stay at Renaissance Hotel in the near future next time we’re in Aix-en-Provence!
Quiet luxury with a great restaurant and pools. Yes the town is quaint, but here you are 8 min walking from all the action AND you can enjoy peace and quiet.
Had a great time
Had a really great stay here. All the places we wanted to see were within walking distance and all the hotel amenities were great for a rainy day we had in Aix. Room was clean and well taken care of. Staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Highly recommend.
Very helpful staff-made transportation reservations for us including a very, very early morning cab ride to Marseille, double checked bookings, etc. Room was nice, large enough and worked well. Coffee machine did not work-no idea why so we improvised.
Excellent location and facilities only 10 minutes walk from the town centre. The garden and pool area is very attractive and clean . We sunbathed two days and it felt resort-like . We were serenaded by students of the nearby conservatoire practising instruments. The room was very spacious with a view of the Sainte Victoire Mountain loved by Cezanne . We walked to his studio from the hotel and back . We would stay here again .
Perfect location. Nice staff. Everything was great.
5Sterne?
Hôtel staff is well trained and willing to help. House cleaning goes above and beyond. Excellent place to stay.
Halls/rooms had a musky smell. We were out in a joining room where the door between the rooms were not very sound proof. Service wasn’t bad. Was a little thrown off by location and the hotel charges 2 euros per extra Nespresso pods - we’ve never heard of that before.
It was a beautiful property within walking distance of the center of the city. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating.
Great hotel and location.
The hotel is great and an easy 5 minute walking location to the Cours Mirabeau. The staff are all helpful and friendly.
A nice, comfortable stay!
This is your standard safe bet in terms of a stay with a Marriott property. No major frills, but has everything you need. The location was great - right on the edge of old town (8 min walk into the main center). The bed was comfy, the shower worked great, etc. The room could use a little love, perhaps a lick of paint - but otherwise, a very decent and comfortable stay. All of the staff were pleasant and helpful. Would stay again.
Really close to the city center, staff was really nice and the restaurant was good. Only thing to notice, beds were not that comfortable to us.
Perfect modern hotel in Aix.
Love this hotel - the best modern hotel available. The service was perfect.
Modern Hotel in Aix
Wonderful stay. Everything perfect. A ten minute walk to the town center. Highly recommend.
The restaurants and pool were quite nice, and the service great. But in 100 degree heat, the air conditioning was almost nonexistent. It was so bad that we opened the windows after dark - it was cooler outside (mid 70s after midnight) than inside! Also the ice and cold water dispensers on our floor were not working all 3 days. It took two days for the hotel to send its technician (which we requested 10 minutes after arriving in our room). The tech said the a-c system was working as designed - powered by (inevitably hot) water from the rooftop, rather than gas/freon. In other words, don’t stay here in the summer! The a/c doesn’t work when the weather is hot. (huh?) The tech also told us the ice machine did not work if people dribbled water from the (supposedly cold) water dispenser. Like all the time. Nothing here worked to keep you cool! Actually we rented a compact for a day, and found the car to be luxuriously cool.
High price hotel.High quality accommodations.
Air con was noisy the first night. Upon complaining to the front desk was told there was nothing they could do. They offered to send me eat plugs. Nothing got done the next day despite several reminders. Finally in the afternoon when I asked to speak to the supervisor of the front desk staff, they fixed the noisy air con. But it didn’t really solve the problem because the aircon didn’t really cool the room. At best it acted like a fan. On a week when temperatures were in the 90’s this is not acceptable. Heard another gentleman complaining at the front desk about his room not getting cooled as well. I have stayed at this hotel on 2 prior occasions. Even though it is 8 years old, property is showing it’s age and needs a refresh. Stained carpets and upholstery. Dirty bathroom grout. Room service menu very limited. One night when I had a headache the front desk staff sent me on a 40 min wild goose chase in search of a 24 hour pharmacy even though the place they sent me to showed closing time of 10 pm which I showed them on Google. I was assured that information was incorrect. Young enthusiastic staff, somewhat inexperienced. I come to Aix for the festival. The location is great especially for concerts at the Grand Theatre de Provence. Based on this stay I will avoid the Renaissance for future stays. It is clearly not a 5 star hotel.
Nice
Excellent property . Loved the amenities , the hotel pool area in particular . Very close to the center of town, too! We’ll be back
Great stay!
Wonderful stay. Big and well appointed romms. 10 minute walk to the center.
The staff was accommodating in every way. We really felt like our every needs were met. They even printed out driving directions when we needed them. Breakfasts were delicious, including made to order omelettes. Packed us a breakfast when we had to leave early for the TGV. We will stay there again for sure.
A wonderful hotel, close to most everything in the center of Aix.
Good hotel
Lovely hotel, off the busy part of old town Aix. Room was very huge and comfortable. Staff was lovely too. Especially the Chinese valet guy that helped us. He was very friendly and hard-working.
pas des prestations dignes d’un 5*, peu de service, propreté qui laisse à désirer, espace piscine moyen
Great trip will definitely book again.
Great Short Break
Good hotel in great location with friendly helpful multi lingual staff committed to making your stay enjoyable
Clean and was made available for me earlier than required
Loved the spaciousness of entry, bedroom, bathroom The bed very comfy The jardin area, lovely The concierge so helpful w car, umbrellas, directions
This is a very nice hotel in the city of Aix, just outside the old town area. Their breakfast is excellent, and dinner as well. The staff is very helpful and friendly to non-french speaking guests. They provided taxi service when needed, clear directions to places to visit. Their pool area and spa service was great. Highly recommended!
Wonderful, modern hotel with very helpful staff. The concierge was super nice and recommended places to visit in the area with detail and grace. The room was modern, big and full of light. The bathroom was super clean. Location is excellent with only about a 5 min walk to the center of town and you get a lot of space in the room. One of the few places in Europe that has two double beds and can accommodate a family. Excellent place!
This is a great hotel for leisure travelers but it also appears to be great for business travelers as well. The rooms are spacious and are well laid out. The staff were very helpful and are super-courteous. The hotel is 10 minutes walk to the main shopping and dining areas. I would highly recommend this hotel!!
Rooms are excellent. Couple of problems - we were in Aix en Provence for the music festival with a group of friends. As the hotel management should know, festival events are staged late and it was almost invariably after 1.30am when we returned to the hotel. The hotel stopped serving breakfast at 10.00am with the staff almost rudely clearing the tables around us. Suggestion - during the Festival management should extend breakfast times. - the bar in the lobby area was almost always unmanned, which is a pity as it is an attractive space - housekeeping service of the rooms was patchy - we once returned to the hotel at 4.00pm to find the room had not been serviced. Also replacement of bathroom gels, soap etc uneven. - Property is superb with excellent rooms - could be an outstanding hotel if management was a little more attentive to customer needs - particularly during the Festival season
The water didn’t drain away in the shower tub on the first night. Very annoying. But they managed to fix it on the second day.
Very convenient to excess to everywhere. It's wonderful hotel to stay. We really enjoyed it.
Wonderful staff. Excellent restaurant. Nice, clean rooms.
Liked everything except for the very expensive short pour of the house wine.
Hotel had great service, large room and comfortable bed. It is a modern hotel so you don't get that "Provence" feeling but you can easily walk to old town. We went to a museum and wandered look in old town. It was quite enjoyable. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant, we shared the beef rib and had fresh asparagus (it was asparagus season in Provence). We are still talking about how good the meal was. Has a very good chef. The bar also makes delightful cocktails. Breakfast came with the room and was very good as well. It is next to university buildings so not really on a picturesque property but has a nice garden area in the back.
Clean, modern rooms and common spaces. Very friendly staff. Only issue was that when we asked the concierge to book us a taxi to the train station he (unbeknownst to us until it was time to pay) scheduled an extremely costly car service instead. I would recommend travellers beware of this, and that the hotel ensure that concierges present pricing options explicitly if they plan to offer luxury car services when asked to schedule plain taxis.
I stayed for 12 days and like the staff they are so friendly, but their English for those who are working in the restaurant is not understandable. The hotel is really clean but the food and Landry are really expensive. The fitness and spa section needs to be enhanced by letting one person taking care for us specially in the swimming pool section. Generally it’s good in that area “ Aix”
Superb hotel in all respects. Excellent staff, welcoming and supportive. Excellent room, light and airy. Easy to find and an easy walk i to city. valeted car-parking a plus as well
Great location for day trips around the Aix town. Valet parking. Concierge/ parking fella very friendly and helpful.
Horrible experience
STAY AWAY! Was expecting a lot more for a 5 star hotel! First thing to notice was mold on the bathroom and one of the closet doors was scratched. The front door frame was pretty beat up. Room is large, great space but not too clean. The front desk team is not polite, they only interact or say hello if you ask them for something. Otherwise they just mind their own business. We were told to use the hotel key to enter in and out of the garage and that it would be validated at the end of our stay. Instead we were charged 19 Euros a day for using the garage. We didn't use Vallet. We parked the car ourselves. This was never mentioned to us when we checked in. The girl who handled our ckeck-out was new and she even asked a manager but we were still charged a daily fee. The hotel is 10 mins away from city center next to a main road, we heard road noise every morning. The pillows on the bed were extremely uncomfortable. The best thing was the people cleaning room, they did an amazing job at organizing the room every day. I won't recommend this hotel to anyone or stay here again. There are much better hotel options in Aix. The garage under LaRotonde is pretty much the same price and gives a great option for parking and getting in or out of the city, plus you stay in a better location. STAY AWAY! If you need good food option on the side of the hotel is Regina Di Napoli. Small place with great service.
We enjoyed our stay. The hotel is new and modern. It is located just a 5-minute walk to the historic Aix city center.
Disappointing experience for an experienced traveller. This hotel should not be listed as a 5-star hotel. The room I stayed in lacked of proper lighting, the desk has glass on it so I couldn't use my computer mouse, there was no lamp desk, the wifi in the room was poor as it kept dropping off and most of the time it was slow, the shower power was weak, the room was hot even with turning the thermostat down, some of the days the coffee etc refills were missing. At check in I was asked a 300 Euros deposit (100 Euro per night)! Overall, this hotel is overpriced for what it offers. First time and last time for me.
Great location and excellent staff, thanks Pierre for everything
Walking distance to center of town with it's shops and restaurants. Near bus terminal that took us to Gare de Lyon.
Wonderful hotel but a little pricey. Continental breakfast at €16? Really? Otherwise excellent service.
Excellent hotel. Very clean. Great staff. I would stay there again.
An excellent hotel in a very pleasant city. Everything was perfect excluding the barbecue which needs some improvement.
Good location with a quick easy walk to the main town. The rooms are large, quiet, have king size beds and are very clean--this is the first hotel I have stayed at without bugs in France! This was also the first hotel to provide two complimentary regular sized water bottles in the room. I was very impressed to see they had a vegan dish at the hotel restaurant--something not easily found in France. While objectively the rooms are nice, they chose to go for a more sterile, corporate look. They are missing that French charm and style found at other hotels I have stayed at in France. Here is a quick list of other cons: the headboards are hard plastic. The toiletries provided contain dye (lower quality), and the mini bar is completely empty, which can be a positive if you want to easily cool your own food or beverages. Parking is also expensive at around 20 euro per day. I tried to find street parking to no avail, however, the added security of being in the garage is nice. Overall this is an excellent place to stay!
High quality hotel
The perfect hotel for a stay in Aix - luxury at a reasonable price. Wonderful service, great facilities, perfect location.
