suit those people who want cheap accommodation.
Simple accommodation, similar to a big backpacker hotel. It is cheap and in good location. But not comfortable.
I liked the price but the room was very dirty. The carpets were stained, the bathroom had hair in the shower and all over the floor, It was also very dirty inder the vanity cupboard. I realise that you get what you pay for but surely the room could have been cleaned properly. There was also a sheet on the mattress and one thin blanket on the bed. o top sheet or any other blankets. Luckily it was a warm night. The airconditioner didnt work properly. The mini fridge was rusty and dirty.
Adelaide Accommodation
It was only for 1 night, was in a good location eg pretty quiet compared to where i stayed in October. Pretty good price huge bed nice balcony, would go back and stay for the same price. 11am checkout, the extra hour was very helpful as most places checkout is 10am
Quite basic but great value for money. Suited what I needed which was just a place to sleep
Property was in easy reach to CBD and well within budget. Although there was a lift from the ground up to the first level --- the next level (where our room was located) could only be accessed by stairs which I found difficult to negotiate (I am 76 years old). Had I known this beforehand I would not have selected this property. For younger and able bodied guests however the place is absolutely fine.
Room only had heating, not cooling. The WiFi did not work. Also had communal kitchen which was a surprise.
The property is not as expected The quality of the facilities was very poor The double bed was 2 single beds on wheels that where not joined and moved constantly
Friendly staff and good service. Rooms small but clean.
Room was pleasant. Neighbors were shouting at 2am and woke us up.
Easy and convenient check in. Staff friendly. Fairly clean and tidy. Good location! Bed moves around but not a big deal
Booking in on a weekend Wotif told me to ring for check in instructions. I rang and got no information, not even an after hours phone number. The promised text did not arrive with check in instructions. We had to arrive before getting information. Check in from there went smoothly. It is not a real apartment at all. The photo is a shared kitchen. Apart from the shared kitchen we really only had a bedroom and ensuite. I would not class it as anywhere near 4.5 stars.
I could not get the air conditioning cool enough. This may have been me not able to use it correctly but I could not find instructions and remote controller seemed simple enough to use. Staff very friendly and helpful. Very clean. A little milk supplied would be good for tea.
The room is very clean and tidy. Very near to city at walkable distances for shopping. Varieties of eats near by. Balaji and rajani Darwin
don't stay there
The place was dirty with lots of stairs to climb with your cases very unhelpful at the desk they only open for a few hours and if your not there then you loss your room but still have to pay.Not friendly at all our room was dirty when we went in there were about three or 4 room dishes all over the sink rotten food in the fridge.I would never stay there again and I would tell everyone I know to stay away
I arrived to find that there was no room available - they blamed the booking site and said there was no room available at the time of booking (which to me appeared to be a lie). In any event would not have been hard to contact me and let me know in advance.
Unit was one bedroom of a two bedroom apartment with a shared kitchen and laundry which was not what I expected. Clean. Had to buy my own power cord and power box as TV cord was too short. Lucky there was a Jaycars down the road.
Upon arrival between the checkin times there was no one at the desk to check us in we had to spend 20 minutes desperately trying to call the two numbers one of wich we could see ringing throught the office window. Eventually i got a text saying that someone would be there in 2 minutes shortly after we had given up and were looking for a new place to stay. 12 minutes later someone arrived and quickly let us check in no apologies or anything of the kind. The room was also substantially over priced for what was provided. And when asked about parking i just got hand waving and a no no no we cant do that all booked out you find somewhere else.
Seems like good value, but is NOT
Room was a small room in someone's apartment, kitchen exhaust is connected somehow to room, so it constantly smells like old cooking smells. The worst was when they came home and started cooking, it was disgusting as the smell intensified. Felt like sleeping in a kitchen in a Chinese restaurant. It made my clothes stink and was absolutely horrible to try and sleep in. In the morning the smell was all over my clothes and the garlic smell lingered. Do NOT stay here, better off cheaper at a legitimate establishment, like YHA.
Regency
The first impression very dirty foyer and lift. Hard to find room bed needs an extra blanket on winter could have some milk in the room for tea coffee. Have to pay high fee for wifi
Very Unsatisfactory for the price
I was disappointed to find upon arrival to my room, dirty carpet, scratched furniture, no light globe in bed side table lamp, sliding door to balcony did not lock (broken), kettle did not fit under the bathroom tap to fill up, 10 sheets left on toilet roll upon arrival, no reception available to get some more, dirty toilet, rubbish in cabinet under bathroom sink and a damp smell in the room. Also, prior to arrival I wasn't advised I would have to take my luggage up many flights of stairs (no lift).
Terrible
Can't believe we paid money to stay there. Rating of 1 is for location only. It was dirty and didn't look like it had been vacuumed. There were random towels/facewashers on the ground when arrived and it had an overall bad smell including in the elevator. Never again.
Nice and clean!
Nice and clean. Great spot close to the centre of adelaide. You can walk to food, shops, bars. I would definitely stay here again.
Found it a bit of a rabbit warren cleaning was none existent in the stair wells and in the elevator .one thing in it favour was being close to the central business district.
Uncooperative , uninterested. worst experience
No help at desk on arrival asked for help with bags- we were a party of 2 senior ladies- just ignored- wrong room specifically asked for no steps- up 3 flights very surly about change- room given not serviced went down twice to desk for help - no response then when finally managed to get into apartment dirty dishes in sink food on bench bowl of rice in microwave Down to office again to find it closed - looking for milk and extra pillow, bath mat - no cover on bed and no ph no or contact details on door - just instructions to leave key in box Overall just not good enough and a bad ending to an otherwise excellent trip to SA, and to top it all off found a bag of 4 bottles of tablets in bedside table drawer- put them in bin - just not good enough !!
Quiet and comfortable apartments in a good location.
Security and safety
The main disappointing factors concerning our stay were security and safety. I cannot understand why our key opened both the front door of unit and also entry to our room. There was only one key lock on entry door which meant that all the other rooms to this unit had the same duplicate key. This same key also opened our individual room within the unit. This means that it opened all the other rooms within that same unit. I did not feel that I could leave valuable items like my iPad in my room and also during sleep time any other guest within the unit could gain entry. The glass door to the apartment was smashed. A paper note warning visitors to close the door gently was insufficient. It was dangerous and should have at least been taped. The decor was terrible, a picture fell off the wall whilst there (only had blu tac) to hold it. The venetian blind was broken and the cleaners obviously don't clean under the beds.
No service
Booked two rooms. One was not services. Our daughter was up in Adelaide for a wedding. We were to baby sit & then sleep in the other room when she returned. Had to find another hotel. Also as this was a weekend there were no staff on duty , & nobody answered the afterhours number. The reason for this was that my daughter could not get into the hotel. On checking the emails there was no mention of a code to get the keys. It was only by chance that I found a message on my phone from an unknown number which happened to give us the code . No mention of this form of communication when we booked.
Not quite what we expected
These apartments look fine from the street, but once you are up the lift there may be stairs to climb - in our case 2 more storeys. There is a central kitchen for 5 little rooms, with a staircase servicing all these rooms. The kitchen smelt of fresh cigarette smoke when we arrived, which was horrible, but our room seemed fine. This changed however, when we got back from dinner and went to bed and cigarette smoke seemed to be coming through the A/C. There was a suspicious person hanging around the swipe-in doors who held the door for me with my bags and who then got himself inside and was very difficult to remove again. We called the number and spoke to someone who treated our concerns seriously and got a description from us. The room itself was very small with rather tired furnishings but was clean enough. And no TV?? I don't watch much, but after a long day in a strange city it's relaxing just to watch a bit in bed.
Never ever again
The hotel staff was rude We were promised a car park but it was taken away from us The apartment was small and crowded Not worth it at all
Good location but not that comfortable with this price
Close to CBD
easy to walk to all of Adelaide's best attractions, restaurants and night spots
Basic clean accommodation
The regency is designed for a different market than we were expecting. The stairs and shared kitchen facilities was not what we were after.
Don't stay here!
They lost our booking, claimed someone else had already taken our room, then said they would come to let us in, had to wait on footpath for half an hour at 10:30pm, key safe wouldn't work, finally got in, the room stank, toilet seat broken, furniture in disrepair, no soap or shampoo in dispensers, broken toilet roll holder, three half used toilet rolls on bench, only one blanket, no pillow slip on spare pillow... should I go on?
Stayed for 1 night, quick trip! Friendly staff man room was what advertised and central location
Just don't !!!!
The long walk to the room wasn't worth the wear on My shoes !!!
no soap in bathroom, no bath mat. lamp faulty
no soap in bathroom, no bath mat. lamp faulty. description of room was not accurate
Slept in car for night instead of room.
Overall the place was shocking. It has a shared kitchen and is like a share house. The building looks outdated and it's layout isn't designed for efficiency. Throughout the whole building was a funky smell as well. Not to mention the hotel took the money out my account before I even checked in but I clearly selected the pay at hotel option. The rooms are small and not practical. The toilet was tiny. Also had an intruder make their way into the building. I slept a night in my car because I contracted food poisoning and couldn't bare to climb the stairs. don't waste your money, book elsewhere.
The room we stayed in was dirty (floor not vacuumed, surfaces dusty and with cup rings, air-conditioner filters noticeably full of dust and fluff, bathroom had mold and toothpaste residue and generally not cleaned properly) and poorly maintained (broken shower screen, towel rack had come off the wall at some point, leaving nowhere to hang clothes or towels). Reception is only open during business hours on Mon-Fri, so we couldn't report these issues, or book parking. I also noticed that money had been taken from my account in addition to the room fee. I'm assuming this was a security deposit that will be returned, but they should absolutely be warning customers that this will happen before we book. I would not recommend this place at all for short term accommodation. It may be acceptable for longer stays if you bring your own vacuum and a bottle of Spray & Wipe.
Slightly better than camping!
Firstly, I was charged a credit card fee. Whilst I was waiting to be served I got to hear the room rate over the phone was $13 less that what I was being charged having booked in advance. Finally after being served and told the internet did not work and wouldn't for the next few weeks I went to my room. Once there the TV did not work, mostly because the power points on one side of the room were non-operational. Fortunately, I was given a couple of power boards so I could string up a connection from the other side of the room. The bathroom was dirty, particularly in the corners of the shower and the shower door (you could tell it only gets a quick wipe over). Yes, this is not five star and I did not expect brilliance, however I did expect things to work and for it to be clean.
NOWHERE NEAR VALUE FOR MONEY
Very disappointed :-( No soap in dispenser Dirty towel in bathroom cupboard sticking out of door On/Off switch broken off one of bedside lamps Two single beds pushed together instead of double / queen bed Only 2 watchable TV channels, all others had annoying high pitched scratchy noise & distorted picture WiFi not working (but I was told about that before arriving) Office hours mentioned up to 5.30pm ... had to collect keys & instructions as per "after hours" instructions, but arrived before 5.30pm
Convenient.
Handy walk to everything and bus station close by.
Good location in city west
Comfortable room to share with my daughter. Good budget price for what we needed for an overnight stay.
Not as advertised
Apparently each small.room has a shared kitchen. The two kitchens I saw in my search for a safe room were unclean and untidy. The chemicals they used to mask/clean with caused me an allergic reaction (think harsh cheap detergent spread liberally) and the door was not secure. I left before I died in my bed from infection or overnight from an intruder or fire in what resembles a rabbit Warren of a place. They had pre charged my credit card the full.amount without my approval and upon leaving (before I has stayed a night as this was impossible) they refused me a refund. Finally taking more than one night. I think I will mention this to fair trading as I don't believe that false advertising and corrosive chemicals are fair.
crap hotel, never stay there
Horrible place, walls paper thin, facilities terrible/non existent, there is no one to contact no one wants to be contacted, we ran out of toilet paper, and had to just buy own own as we only receive one single role. TERRIBLE HORRID PLACE!
Very Disappointing
Double bed was actually 2 singles squished together. Downlight was hanging out of the ceiling. Thick Black Mold all through the Shower. Black Mold on the Cornice. Room Stank of Mold. White Stains on extra Bedding.
Bare minimum
Good location...but that's about it. Definitely showing its age, not particularly clean, not particularly comfortable. Be aware that a 'balcony' means a shared open area with empty bottles and rubbish left over from previous guests. Labyrinthine access which could be a problem for less mobile people. Small (but functional) bathroom. Wife found the bed quite hard. Not a problem for me, though as we both discovered at 4.30 am when other guests came in, the walls are paper-thin and we could hear every word they said. Sure, it's budget accommodation, but I'd recommend springing for a bit extra elsewhere to get value for money and a halfway decent night's sleep.
Close to coach terminal but that is all
A handy location for an early morning departure. Thats the only reason to stay here. Things that need to be advertised. 1. While there is a lift to the apartment there is only stair access to rooms within the apartment. If you can't use the stairs you are out of luck. 2. The reception staff leave at 5.30 so there is no help with luggage or finding anything. 3. Milk is not supplied. Bring some with you. Problrms: The power points along one wall did not work. Lights in stairs and common rooms are switched off leaving the areas pitch black. This is a risk as a guest does not know where the light switches are. I found the lights for the stairs but the ground floor was in darkness and I did not see the bottom stairs. I fell down the last fews steps. Landing in a pained pile on the tiled floor luckily just badly bruised and nothing broken. I believe this is highly dangerous and urge management to install safety lights. I have a sprained calf muscle, bruises on my feet and arms. No staff in reception to report this to so I managed my own first aid. The next person might not be so lucky.
Ok value for money
Reception was closed for check-in and out but they text clear instructions. The lift was out of order and open on the 2nd floor and beeped all night. Fortunately we couldn't hear it from our room. Only 1 pillow per guest and it wasn't very comfortable. Looks like room hadn't been vaccumed for some time. Overall reasonable value for money.
Average apartments, but great location in the CBD.
First room was not prepared properly, no toilet paper, a dirty face cloth in the bathroom, the fridge wasn't working (and smelt), the toilet was disgusting. We were given another room for one night which was ok except for several large cockroaches. The third night we were in a better room where we stayed for the rest of our time.
Was average stay. Shared facilities. Minimal toiletries.
Well situtated but extremely poor maintenance.
Rarely office attended. Poor cleanliness in Bathroom. No toilet roll holder, towel rail fell off when towel placed on it. No bath mat or hand towels. Bed lamps unplugged. Misleading website. Joint kitchen facility for 4 appartments. Kitchen utensils and crockery for 2 people only. Constant damp musty smell. Vanity in bathroom rotting and continually wet due to hot water tap leak. No hot water in basin also due to leak.
Not particularly impressed.
Confusion from the word go, with emails, a phone conversation and the hotel reception all having completely different ideas on the stay (bond/no bond, paid/haven't paid, when I can check in) it was ridiculous (in the end I just paid for the room, no bond, even though it was asked for and agreed to). The lift to my room looked as though rats had been gnawing on the walls, with little bits strewn everywhere (not been vaccumed in f*#k knows how long). The room itself was quite small and sparse, but tidy, did not bother with the room info on the desk because it was rife with stains and smears. The shower was bad, hadn't been scrubbed at the base for god knows how long, and the sight of a big ol pube to wards the back wall was not in the least bit pleasant. The cieling was low, and transfered the thunderous jumping, running, and screeching of the neighbours above me with perfect clarity (fortunately I was in town for much drinking and a Metal show, so I slept anyway...). The best thing for me was the location, which was exactly why I chose this place. Won't be doing it again though.
convenient location in town close to transit centr
Bit tricky working out directions for after hours entry but then ok. Room quite comfortable. Good shower. Comfortable bed.
Good experience.
The Regency was pretty good deal. At $80 a night it was considerably cheaper than other places I'd looked at. Good location. The room was basic as expected but contained all the essentials including a bathroom and aircon and small balcony, almost in reaching distance to a building construction. The construction wasn't intrusive when I was there. The bed was two singles pushed together. It was a bit of a journey up a winding stair case to the room. There was a very handy kitchen available. At other times it would probably be full of international students but was deserted in January. Take care to secure or investigate parking in advance. It can be tricky. Well worth considering.
Close to city, linen clean and fresh
Not the cleanest, carpets and vinyl floor coverings need a clean. TV is in bedroom, should be in living area and with a lounge. Rubbish bin had not been emptied. No dish cloth and t.towel and spare blankets in wardrobe had been thrown in, not folded.
Could be alright if cleaning standards were higher
Low cleaning standards detract from what are otherwise tidy rooms. Being a budget hotel you get what you pay for, but furniture in good condition and clean linen which was a good start. Bathroom and floors looked to be just spot cleaned though and were a bit gross in places. They layout of the rooms is different; may pose an issue for mobility impaired. 5 rooms are grouped together as a unit accessed by a common kitchen/lounge. Rooms are accessed by a tall narrow staircase with multiple landings.
For the money it was worth it wasnt that great. I wouldnt recommend
neat and tidy
nice, relaxing room was perfect for our overnight stay, it had a shared laundry and kitchen facilities with other units.
Located in a good position. The first room I was in the tv had no reception so I was moved to another room. The bathroom hadn't been cleaned properly, there were pink water stains in the shower and grey stains lining the sink. The kitchen looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while; the cupboards had stains from food splatter, inside all the cupboards were dirty, inside the microwave had mold and the stove tops. The room had no noise insulation. I could hear the bathroom exhaust fans from the surrounding rooms and could hear every vehicle go past.
Units are in groups of 3 or 4 with shared kitchen. Old but clean. Appears to be designed for student accommodation. Popular with young Asians - probably long term students. Everyone seems to respectful and quiet. Limited on-site and street parking but lots of cheap parking stations nearby. Loved being able to walk to the Central Markets, china town and restaurants.
Good for a girls night out
It was a very handy spot as it was close to the inner city- the only thing was that our TV was not working!
easy going
great little hotel without fuss. great value for money in the CBD
Nice apartment, about what you would expect for the price. Nice view and great location.
Close to Adelaide oval
Room offer a unit and charge extra for car parking
Two lights in the room had broken from the roof, this is actually really dangerous. Ordered a double bed room and was two singles pushed together. Was really confusing to try and find the room and then we were actually sharing a 3 br apartment with other people. We still had our own room with ensuite, but didn't offer the privacy that we were looking for.
Basic hotel in the city
Initial access to room key after hours was fine, but not sure how to get back in after going out. Reception not manned after hours or weekend but also no answer on AH mobile. Light in bathroom went out and we were not able to report it. Limited parking available onsite, but plenty of car parks nearby... Pleasantly surprised by weekend cost of parking overnight at UPark. Would probably suit students best as shared units with kitchen and stairs to bedrooms with small ensuite.
Good, cheap accommodation.
For this price, the Regency Apartments are really good value. It's a bit of a maze to get in there, and the construction is unconventional. Behind each shared kitchen is a staircase serving 5 rooms on 3 levels. However, once you get past the unconventional, this is really quite a comfortable place to stay.
Not really suitable for corporate travellers. After hours check in is via a key that is kept in a safe. The rooms are difficult to find, and there are no ironing facilities in the rooms.
