**Reef View Hotel Review** We recently stayed at the Reef View Hotel and had an overall lovely experience. The convenience and proximity to all the activities on Hamilton Island made our trip seamless and enjoyable. The breathtaking panoramic views of Catseye Beach from our room were truly unforgettable, and the beds were incredibly comfortable—a perfect retreat after a day of exploring. That said, there are a few areas where improvements could be made. The overall quality of food at the hotel restaurants could be enhanced, as could the customer service, particularly in the dining establishments and when arranging tours. Additionally, I’d suggest adding a prompt during the booking process—especially for summer stays—to remind guests to reserve a buggy in advance. Despite these small hiccups, the experience was delightful, and I would recommend Reef View Hotel to anyone planning a visit to Hamilton Island. Thank you for a memorable stay!

Great location, plenty of room in accommodation, great views.

It was not that accessible and struggled to use public bathroom near foyer due to heavy doors. Was very slippery when when and struggled to walk with crutches. Was put in furtherst room on wing and struggled to walk that far dispite informing prior i had differculty with mobility. I was told if i need an actual room that is accessible i will need to book 2 rooms and be charged double! I was unable to open and push door myself as too heavy and almost fell trying. From 6.30 every morning heard glass bottles being smashed and till 11.30-12 at night heard kids running around upstairs and chairs scrapping. Was very noisy. Not able to cater for dietary needs for lunch and dinner as had cross contamination. Room size was good and handy to have microwave in room as couldn't eat much on island. That is probably all that was good. Overall very disappointed in my stay

We didn’t realise until we arrived how big the Reef View Hotel was. We had a lovely, spacious and comfortable room. The bathroom was very large too, with double sinks, a bath and shower. It was really convenient to have the shuttle for the ferry and to the airport. The Reef View was also a stopping point for the Island Shuttle and made getting around really easy. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and delicious. It was maybe just a blip but our first lunch in the restaurant wasn’t the best customer service experience - it took some time to get served and I had to speak to the host to request service. There afterwards it was fine.

Ocean view room was the best choice I made. However, the breakfast was great but almost the same everyday.

Subtropical island, run by owners to military precision keepings things running smooth, really impressive beautiful beaches and shallow seas stretching way into the bay. Perfect for beginners or if wanted to go for a morning stroll. The 3 hikes takes you up to mountains (not very high) but with views to the white haven beach and get to multiple smaller islands including the fancy Hayman Resort for Intercontinental guests only.The warm rains cools you down

The Reef Hotel is fine,and great value with a million dollar view, it's been years since I've stayed there and I had forgotten just how amazing it is, nothing else matters when you are staring out over the whitsundays. Large rooms, large bathrooms, comfortable, clean would definitely stay again.

We had a fantastic stay at the Reef View Hotel! The room was incredibly comfortable and surprisingly spacious. Even though we chose a garden view room, the view was still impressive. The location was perfect, with just a short walk to the main village, making it very convenient. Overall, a great experience - we would definitely stay here again!

The hotel location was just perfect. I booked the twin room based on the photos. Sadly on arriving to the room even thou it was spacious the bathroom was old and dated and dirty and looked nothing like the updated photos on the booking. The grout and shower screen needed a good scrub. The room had a musky carpet smell. What surprised me even more was that Hamilton Island accommodation was offering 25% off room rate for our dates. It was such a disappointment as we were celebrating a special birthday and the additional money could have been spent on day trips, dining or other activities. I have been booking with hotels.com for a number of years and they have always been competitive. Sadly not on this occasion.

Overall very good hotel for family holiday. I found most of staffs were young & had accents. I assume they are on their working holidays. Most of them were nice but some were a bit rude. I guess they dont have much experience in customer service & don't care much as they are there for short term only

Spacious rooms but dated

Rooms need to be updated. Great size room, bathroom is huge. Service at the restaurant was good.

The Reef View is perfect for a family holiday on Hamilton Island. Large, well appointed room, cracking breakfast, great pool, access to the gym, opposite the beach...all boxes ticked.

Service was terrible, food was average, rooms are very run down but the view is amazing and pools are great.

Will be back to stay again soon

The views over Catseye Beach were stunning. Breakfast was varied and plentiful and the rooms were well furnished and spacious.

Perfectly located - rooms/view were amazing. Facilities were very much appreciated. Couple of times, staff told us the incorrect information or did not come back to fix problems but on the whole the staff were excellent.

Clean and friendly staff

The hotel is well kept for an older property. Bed isn’t very comfortable but the room is clean and spacious. I thought we will get a higher floor based off the description of the type of room we booked but was provided a room on the 5th floor. Still great views though. We were allowed to check in way before check in time which was amazing. The staff were friendly, professional and always smiling. Haven’t had such great service in a long time. Loved the pool and facilities. The only disappointing thing is the food. Price aside (which is expected for an island), the food was either bland one night or too salty another night. Menu options were basic and uninteresting.

Loved our stay at the reef view hotel. Staff very friendly. Baggage handlers do a fantastic job organising luggage and getting everyone to the airport. Housekeeping can’t wait to clean your room. Thank-You for a wonderful time.

Housekeeping was not great, room needs a refurb as the toilet was a bit dated and moldy. Good things were staff were well informed and friendly, breakfast buffet was amazing, view from balcony/room & the glass lifts were exciting. The baby conceirge was very thoughtful, overall a good experience & value for money.

A bit run down and not kept clean. We stayed over a week and room service to clean rooms were very poor and the bathrooms toilets needs a revamp very dirty. Great location nonetheless

Another good trip on Hamilton Island. Happy to come back each year. This year we didn’t get the renovated rooms at the Reef View so they felt dated, but still clean and comfortable.

My wife and I went here for our 10 year anniversary. We informed them through Expedia that it was our anniversary but never received any response online or in person. Initial room was disappointing but we were changed to a better room pretty quickly which was nice. Pleasant stay overall although it would have been decent to get a free late checkout rather than have to pay $50. We got one free drink when checking out as staff felt bad about the lack of communication.

Was initially given a very noisy room (soundedlike air con issue) they sent staff to inspect who agreed we shouldn't have to put up with noise but reception still didnt want to move us - eventually they did

The resort was absolutely perfect! We could not have asked for anything better. The Coral Sea rooms have a spectacular view. The room was very spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The grounds were very tropical and the pool areas were beautiful. All staff were friendly and helpful. A perfect holiday destination.

Property in great location for beach and walking tracks in hills behind. The que at breakfast was quite long but not a big issue. Possibly need a few more coffee machines as one wasn't working and the other was a little temperamental Otherwise, a wonderful relacing holiday on Hamilton Island

We were placed above the bar and the music shook our room. We asked what time the music ended and no one really seemed to know, so we asked to be moved. We were moved to a run down room (ie, sinks loose) that had not been cleaned well. The beds in the new room were worse than hostel beds. The staff was nice, except that when we told them we had an early morning, they should not have put us immediately above the bar. I would not stay at the Reef View Hotel again and would not recommend it to friends.

Reef View Hotel Hamilton Island. We stayed here for one night in a coral view suite as a stopgap on a trip to the reef. Most important conclusion is : if you travel with children it is the perfect hotel. As a couple….stay at Qualia 👍 The suite was very nice, spacious and with a great view from the 19th floor. The hotel has one pool and there are two other pools within 3 min walk. Beach is right in front and they have free kayaks, sailing catamarans , boards and snorkeling gear. One restaurant in the hotel and two others within 4 min walk. The only drawback for us (traveling as a couple) was that the place was literally full with families. (School holiday too). At dinner (8pm) there was only one other table without children and at breakfast (7am) we were the only one. That resulted in dirty tables, food on the floor, parent allowing small children to pick up food with their hands at the buffet, shouting, crying, jumping in the clearly marked “no jumping pool”….etc. The staff was great, trying to do what they could but they were just overwhelmed. So….to reiterate. Perfect hotel for families. As a couple , or single travelers you cannot beat Qualia.

Amazing views from the balcony, rooms are quite huge incl the bathroom. Staff is super friendly. 15 min walk to Marina with IGA, a cafe and restaurants. Instead of rental cars, golf buggies are used. I can highly recommend Hamilton Island and the Reef View Hotel

We had an amazing time. the view with the hotel was just amazing. the shuttle buses make it so easy. loved all the water sports that were included in our bookings. we will definitely return to Hamilton Island. relaxing holiday. The only thing about the accommodation that I would mention is about the bathrooms that would benefit from an upgrade. while the rest of the hotel (room, reception, cafe) all look new the bathrooms were quite old. overall an amazing trip!!!

Sadly the property is a little run down and is in need up a reno. The food options are limited on the island and you need to book before you even leave to go on holiday to get a table.

Good spot for your first time exploring the island and family friendly. Most things are within walking distance and ocean view room is a must.

You will literally be living in a tropical paradise full of natural wonders! Cockatoos will come visit your balcony from the nearby national forest, a warm sea breeze will greet you every day, together with spectacular sunrises, and everything is walking distance! If you’re not feeling like walking though there are FREE shuttles across this island, including the Reef View Hotel, which run every 10 mins and take you most places. It’s clean here, well maintained, very well organised, and great facilities, especially for families. Highly recommend staying here.

Its was all absolutely beautiful if i can put any negative it would be all the fans being on in the dining area fir breakfast that your meal goes cold to quick before you can eat it but other than that the place is fantastic

Very pleasant stay. The room is very spacious & well appointed. Swimming pool is large, with plenty of poolside lounges. Breakfast selection is very good with plenty of variety.

The reef was perfect and staff made our stay very enjoyable with receiving excellent service.

Beautiful views, good facilities, spacious rooms

Lots of great facilities at the hotel including access to an excellent gym and free use of water equipment at the beach. The coral view room was very spacious with plenty of room for the three of us and the bathroom is huge - again plenty of space for 3. Cocktails at bar really good and food good too in bar. Very limited menu in bar and room service but that might be down to being on an island. Some tasty, healthy salad options would have encouraged us to eat more at the hotel. Transfer arrangements excellent and shuttle service from the hotel very good. Rooms particularly bathrooms need a good upgrade, bathrooms definitely need some work but clean and functional. We asked for an extra hour on checkout and after waiting a few minutes for the reception to check we were informed that extra hours were charged at $50 per hour which is pretty disappointing considering they know when the flights and boats are coming in and if they can accommodate.

If I could change, I definitely wouldn't choose this hotel again. Don't waste your money selecting a Coral Sea View Room because it's exactly the same as the Sea View Room. Your luck may vary from the 5th to the 11th floor. Cleaning is even worse. The silicone in the shower in hotel bathrooms is moldy. Almost all sinks have no plugs, and some basin sink have green mold. There was hair left by the previous guest on the sofa in the living room. The sheets have yellow stains. Choose carefully.

Remarkable view, and friendly staff. School holiday periods remove the à la carte option from the restaurant and replace it with a buffet which won’t suit everyone. The rooms are dated, but clean and comfortable. Overall, a pleasant stay.

Rooms on the upper floors are highly recommended as the view from the balcony is breathtaking. The pool area is very small and the loungers are always taken. However the beach is over the road and is gorgeous. We travelled during school holidays when the restaurant only had buffets available which were hideously expensive. Room service was a better option. A coffee machine in the room would have been welcome. Very well located on the island.

The view from a reef room was terrific. The room and hotel are looking very tired needs a big update. All the free sports are good if you are young and healthy but nothing for elderly or part disabled paying guests. Also dining options non existent same old things night after night. One very important thing it needs a ramp up into the hotel not just huge steps.

A lovely place to stay at Hamilton Island, and they even let me keep my luggage there while i was on the reefsleep overnight. Such friendly staff!

Television didn’t work on all channels. Tech came up to fix but didn’t fix so it remained as it was beforehand.
