The mattress was too soft for two people on it.

quite old property, very dated exterior, public area not exactly appealling; bit sad, needs huge upgrafing; however, staff very attentive, professional, gd communicator, we drove 5 hours from New Plymouth, arrivaed at reception and hour prior to check in time; since a room is ready, we could check in, great courtesy room 12 we stayed, no hot water! possibly an oversight; room is tidy, minimalistic which appeals to us; very thoroughly cleaned; bedding, pillows comfly, often with old property and overdue carpet flooring, certain smell exits, but not our room, looks and feels hygenic amenities sufficient to cook meals, a plus good size fridge even with separates freezer upper compartment, very impressed windows could be adjusted for fresh air I definitely would book again.

Didn’t end up staying here because the staff didn’t even have a room ready when we arrived well after check in time, he was asking me what kind of bed I want, when I made the booking online so he should have known full well. Tried to get me to look at other rooms but the place was so horrible I had to leave.

Heat pump didn't work. Lawns need mowing

As a single traveller I felt unsafe. People yelling till midnight. Lady next door so loud with her door open i couldnt sleep. I then asked her to close her door. The place was rundown. New fittings etc but covered in paint. Carpet covered in paint in bedroom.Would not stay again.Looked ok in pictures.

We booked this at short notice. This motel looked like it had been used for emergency housing and they still had some permanent residents there. There was rubbish outside the units, towels lying around, laundry bags. There was building demo rubbish outside one of the units and on the footpath out the front of the motel. There was no-one there when we went to check in so had to call the manager who was off-site - he was very apologetic and offered to help if we needed anything. The place looked very rough from the outside but the room was clean and tidy but missing items like dishwashing liquid & cloth and the queen bed did not have a mattress protector on it or on some of the pillows. There was a single and queensize bed in the main area by the kitchen and a single bed in the bedroom - no lounge/ dining furniture to sit on to watch tv or sit and chat. Motel is a great location to walk to local eateries

They didn't communicate well and we were left double booked with no where to stay.

Staff did not allow us to have visitors, Were very quiet but aparantly neighbours were complaining. Staff stood outside beside cars waiting for visitors to leave, Was very unpleasant. Bedding was unclean, Looked like blood stains. Shower was horrible it only dribbled water. Worse experience staying in a motel, Will never book there again.

Good location, easy to get in and out of, handy to food

It gave us a place to sleep. Queen bed very very hard and uncomfortable but the singles were much better - so ended up in singles for the night.

The owner didn't know where mt smart was. She should know those things if your in the tourism business.

Good location, but very dated

Very close to New Market and the CBD and on the route to the airport. Buildings are very old and require a lot of work. Rooms smelt a bit odd, probably damp, lots of areas of rotten timber in the bathrooms and mould. No soap in the bathroom (hand dispensers type thing all empty) Beds were made and appeared to be clean tidy. If your only after a bed and not worried about the odour or the condition its ok.

Roomy but dated

Good sized room and convenient layout. The hotel staff were also helpful. The room did smell however, and no amount of airing was able to fix that. The furniture was dated with no particular theme and possibly came from a used furniture auction house. Nice area and not too noisy. The place has potential if management pay some attention to the detail.

Great middle of the road accommodation

We stayed for two nights while attending a competition and it fitted the bill well. We had two units side by side. It worked exceptionally well for what we wanted. Walking distance from shops and restaurants and the raceway. On the bus route. Very clean and quiet. Just what we wanted.

The motel is in a very good location, not far from the Newmarket shopping precinct. We were in a ground floor unit at the back of the complex which was nice and quiet. Staff are friendly and the unit is cleaned daily and towels were replaced daily.

convenient

An old motel with basic facilities though clean and comfortable. Above all it was conveniently located to Newmarket and StMarks Surgical Centre which was the reason for our stay.

Nice and clean

Good for all people and very clean. Close to the city and awesome fish'n'chips shop right next door. Will definitely stay there again.

Inexpensive overnight stay close to ABS Showground

Very good overnight stay. I wouldn't really want to spend more time there though. You'll get what you pay for. The main advantage is price, distance to the ABS Showgrounds and parking spot in front of your room. It is a typical motel. There is no restaurant or bar at the motel, you have to go outside, but there are plenty of restaurants in a walking distance.

excellent location

The location of this motel is its biggest asset. It is a clean, modest motel but real value for money. The owners went out of there way to be helpful to us when we left some clothes behind in the wardrobe.

Close to Appropriate Facilities

I chose to stay here as it was close to the ASB Showgrounds. It was cheap so wasn't expecting too much. The interior was a little dated but it was ok. The bed was probably one of the best I've slept in! Pillows were great! The unit has one double bed in a separate room and 2 singles in the lounge. As well as a really comfortable couch. Also table and chairs and a little kitchenette.

Reasonable but 'tired'

The motel was spacious and reasonably clean, but very tired. Interior and exterior could use a lot of attention and updating. We found there was quite a bit of road noise, but we live on an exceptionally quiet cul-de-sac

Great Value

Recommended place to stay close to city. Traffic noise was high in early evening but died off to practically nothing when I went to bed. While the unit was old and a bit tired was adequate, spacious and very clean. View of lovely leafy trees which was very pleasant in a city motel.

Conveniently located to Newmarket shops

Our unit was very clean. A bit of repair work needed on cupboards & light switches but overall an OK place to stay. 5 minutes drive to Newmarket shops and about 20 minute drive to CBD. Staff friendly and helpful. Good price and the free parking a bonus.

CLEAN AND AFFORDABLE

While the Motel is VERY dated, staying here is "cheap as chips" in a brilliant location. The road noise was very loud (but I don't come from a city). It is very basic, but it totally tops the bill in cleanliness and with wonderful friendly owners whom go out of their way to make sure you have what you need, all with a big smile. I stayed on the top level with my 2 adult sons and for a place to sleep it was adequate. Would I stay again - definitely, but not for more than 1 night at a time. Francis (the owner) is polite, helpful, respectful and with such a beautiful smile makes you feel welcome and nothing is a problem. Overall actually a great experience.

Walking distance to the event center

Close to shops and event center. Staff very friendly. Room was old but very clean. Comfortable bedding and pillows. And a great price. Would definitely stay again

Lovely stay!

Everything was is order, friendly staff, excellent service, comfortable beds, reasonable rates and central location. Would recommend to everyone with confidence. Loved freshly cut flowers every day. Good shower pressure. Keep up the good work, Ranfurly Motel, Will see your excellent staff and superb hospitality again this time around next year!

Wonderful hosts, lovely spacious unit

My partner and I managed to book last-minute accommodation here. Upon arrival we were greeted by Francis who has excellent customer service skills. What we were impressed with: The kitchen facilities (everything you need to make a meal including an oven) Very spacious A lovely dinner table Comfy couch and beds Lots of windows to let fresh air in and blinds for privacy Most of all - the beautiful freshly picked flowers. What a great surprise. How kind it is that they took time to do that for their visitors. It felt like a home-away-from-home as soon as we arrived. It is in a perfect central location. I highly recommend this place for a relaxing stay. This is the best customer service I have received when staying in Auckland.

Good enough inner city motel, close to Epsom

Helpful staff n, nice and clean but a little old and needed help to get the tV to work and dodgy wifi. Family room, well serviced, comfortable but old.

Centrally situated

Staff were very friendly and polite. My accommodation was very dated as were the furnishings, however the bed was very comfortable and the shower had good water pressure.

Friendly staff. Worth every Penney

Great staff! Very friendly! we stayed in a family room. We had a kitchen TV bedroom and bathroom all for the same price we paid for a tiny room in a motel up the road! Delighted with our overall experience.. The staff made our stay! Would definitely recommend!

Lovely staff and comfortable room

The welcome was warm and friendly and check in was quick. Even though it was close to main room the room was quiet and very clean. Check out the following morning was just as quick and the staff again very friendly.
