It’s a spectacularly beautiful compound with amazing art and architecture. The pool is lovely and quiet. Breakfast, which was included, was excellent. They also allowed us to check out at 1 so we didn’t have to leave early for the airport. I highly recommend and we will be back!

I absolutely love this property for its unique exotic charm and historical significance. The hotel offers a tranquil and serene atmosphere, perfect for a peaceful stay. The staff is incredibly friendly, the facilities are spotless, and the breakfast is absolutely delicious. I’ll definitely stay here again when I visit Chiang Mai. The only small drawback was the limited accessibility of plugs for charging my phone, but that’s a minor issue.

This beautiful hotel is an oasis! One of the most peaceful places we have ever stayed. The food was outstanding and service was as well.

Beautiful property, and in a nice location.

I had a very pleasant overall stay at this hotel. My only suggestion to the management is sealing the gap under the room doors so lizards (they are tiny) and mosquitoes dont enter the rooms from the courtyard. I covered the gap with a towel. No issues with mosquitoes but a couple lizards got in and I called the staff to remove them. I loved the architecture & interior design of the building.

Beautiful and quiet hotel

My absolute favorite hotel of all time! Feels like 5 star quality. The hotel architecture itself is stunning with high quality amenities. The pool was the perfect escape from the hot city day. It was extremely walkable located in the old city. The staff was extremely attentive. The food was top notch. Would go back in a heart beat!

Relaxing, quiet stay

Very nice stay for 2 nights here. It was extremely quiet as we did not see more than 3 other parties during our stay. Breakfast was lovely. Our deluxe room was great and we booked massages which was relaxing. The only thing I would recommend to the room is an upgrade to the showers as the grout seemed to be missing in areas and the water seemed to be damaging some not waterproof areas by the glass door. Pool was very relaxing, but water could have used a daily or more than once daily cleaning of the surface of the water (bugs and plant bits). Service was otherwise spectacular.

We are a family of 4 and booked a suite, which was more than enough for us (two large bedrooms and living room). The hotel itself is amazing. Traditional Thai Chinese architecture, incredibly serene. Many small gardens throughout the hotel, and I found myself taking drinks there just to relax and enjoy the serenity. The hotel is very convenient to all local attractions and staff was incredibly helpful and friendly.

Lovely hotel just missing that final luxury touch that would have raised my rating . Charging $20 for a cracked tray that fell on the floor seemed cheap when the overall price paid was $1800 for two rooms for three nights. Their need to pipe music outside our room, including one very early morning was not appreciated. Having said that the hotel, it’s facilities and the mainly the staff were lovely. The Library is very special.

This hotel is easily the most luxurious and relaxing hotel I’ve been in. The staff is top notch and so helpful. It is like staying in a mansion with beautiful grounds and art.

The perfect holiday. Rachamankha is an oasis with stunning grounds, well appointed rooms, helpful staff and just an ideal place to relax and recharge. Will come back to Chiang Mai without a doubt and will always look to stay at Rachamankha.

A calm relaxing stay!

An absolutely beautiful property that adds so much to the tranquility in your stay. Great location with all the old city attractions nearby. The breakfast is amazing and the service is great. What stood out for me the most was the beautiful architecture and how well the property is maintained. There is so much thought in everything. I missed having a gym but that’s just me.

This is a very fine hotel. The rooms are beautiful. The style and architecture are wonderful. Great swimming pool. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom was perhaps the best I’ve ever seen. Great shower. Very good AC in my room. Wonderful breakfast. So many great things to say about this property. Will stay here again.

Perfect quiet setting in the midst of the Old City. Really appreciated the staff working with us in providing a late check out as our flight departed Chiang Mai late in the evening.

Fantastic! A quiet oasis in the middle of a busy city! The pool is captivating, I love the small number of rooms! je staff was fabulous - so polite and accommodating!

A lovely rustic Inn with a relaxing pool and garden. All the staff were very friendly, helpful and eager to please. About 15 min by tuk tuk or red truck to all the action of central Chiang Mai and the amazing market zone.

Beautifully done. Calming and classic style, very well cared for and and thoughtfully arranged. Great location within walking distance of many main attractions in the city. Excellent restaurant. Highly recommended all around.

Secluded jewel

Beautiful compound at the western edge of the old city a few minutes walk to Wat Phra Singh. Secluded with many courtyards decorated in old La Na style with fine Chinese blue and white ceramics in many areas. Rooms are equally elegant and staff as expected most attentive. The restaurant is very good serving both Thai and western food and I notice that well to do Thai people come here to entertain guests. The swimming pool is great to cool down when it gets to 40C in May. The upstairs pool room provides massage services which is a must for relaxation in Thailand. Our only quibble is the lack of a gym or fitness room.

When you enter the hotel grounds after exploring bustling Chiang Mai a sense of peace and tranquility overwhelms you. The gardens, walkways, courtyards, and rooms are quiet, clean, well cared for, and authentically decorated.

good boutique.hotel

Located in a very quiet area in the old city. Staff are very friendly. Hotel deco is a big surprise. The only not so good point is the bathroom. The bathroom is quite small and does not have a bathtub.

One of the most relaxing and luxurious experiences of my life. Brief visit to Chiang Mai after a work trip and the Rachamankha offered a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of the city - the food was outstanding, the staff amazing, the pool and spa relaxing. A perfect mini break!

Peace and Beauty

The highlight of our stay in Chiang Mai was the Rachamankha Hotel. It is an island of beauty, peace and harmony - JUST WONDERFUL!! The owner is an architect who designed a unique experience with patios, courtyards and beautiful pool - a mix of the best of Asia with the "savoir vivre" of France. And he furnished it with remarkable well placed Asian antiques. A great success!

Execllent propety

Best hotel EVER !! An amazing feel !!

The location is far from all the restaurants and where things are happening. Do NOT book their transportation service as they will be late + it's 3x more expensive than if you would just grab a taxi or Uber/Grab. I've asked the hotel to reimburse a part of the cost of the transportation service as the driver had been late. The driver lied and said he was not late, while we have proof that he was (I kept on contacting/emailing the hotel). Overall, for the price, I would NOT stay here nor recommend others to do so. Le Meridien is a better choice/price/location.

Despite a small glitch with our airport pickup, we thoroughly enjoyed our 2nd stay at Rachamkha, celebrating a very special birthday. AIi - the General Manager - went above and beyond and was most gracious in addressing our arrival issue to our satisfaction. This hotel is elegant and the antique furnishings are beautiful. The pool and outdoor seating areas are divine and peaceful. It is located in an area convenient to everything but yet somewhat secluded and very quiet. The breakfast is one of the best we have had in Thailand. The patio where it is served is set beautifully and tiled with blue and white tiles all around. it s walking distance from some of the most beautiful temples in Chiang Mai. We would absolutely stay here again on our next visit.

A beautiful and serene hotel

This truly is a wonderful and calming hotel. The positives are the architecture and ambience, the location is great to wander around the Old City, the pool is wonderfully cool, and the food in the restaurant is very good. The slight negatives, as other reviewers have mentioned, is that noise does travel through the rooms. Nothing earplugs doesn’t deal with, but something to be aware of. Also - and this is picky - the service is a bit too attentive and makes you feel watched. But worth giving dinner there a go for the ambience and post that, there are great backpacker restaurants nearby that are perfect for a chill, a cold beer and people watching. Overall, I would thoroughly recommend staying there.

Different to what we expected

The hotel itself is a stunning property in an old style which is unique in the area. It is definitely a clean and beautiful hotel which offers a sense of calm from a pretty busy Chiang Mai. So why different to expected- this is the first somewhat negative review i have ever written. 1. My wife and i were on our honeymoon and had visited many top hotels across asia and we felt unfortunately the hotel did little to nothing to make that special. 2. We are pretty easy going people however the staff we extremely uptight verging on unfriendly (almost as if they had been taught to be that way). I cant critique the waiters it was more the front desk who were borderline rude and unhelpful. 3. Although its december and naturally the north is colder we were freezing in our room. The air conditioner doesnt give any heat option or setting, minor point but the cold was not something i expected for the price. 4. Room was nice and clean but felt the bathroom needed a small upgrade especially given the cost and again not something of high end boutique hotel. All in all, the hotel is nice, especially in Chiang Mai old town but service level needs to much higher generally.

A jewel of traditional Lanna style architecture and courtyard boutique hotel inside the old city of Chiang Mai. Everything is great. It's truly perfect for a couple to stay to enjoy the serenity and peace while so easy to walk to all attractions and nearby weekend night market.

Boutique colonial style hotel

Family of 4 including 2 x bustling teenagers comfortably shared a 2 bedroomed apartment in this quaint hotel setting. if you are lookng for an exclusive non commercial type of accomodation this is for you. Great in house massage facilities alll at very reasonable prices.

Very authentic Thai hotel

My husband and I stayed at this boutique hotel for 3 days and we enjoyed our stay very much. Great property with lot of character. Staff is very friendly, helpful and very nice. They arranged cooking class and various activities for us. Their breakfast every morning is great! Their pool was awesome and we took advantage of it every day of our stay there! Front desk was always available and very helpful. Everyone was very nice there! Rooms were very clean and bathrooms also. I highly recommend this property. It was the best part of chiang mai!

Perfect Stay!

Staff were welcoming, attentive, and went out of their way to be helpful. Even though it was a 5 star hotel, the staff treated me the same whether I was dressed nicely for dinner, or dressed for a day of outdoor adventure. They even stored my luggage for me overnight free of charge after I had checked out while I went out of town.

Great location and ambiance

Warm welcome, beautiful building and lovely room. This is a great place to stay and use as base for a variety of things in the old city. Easy to get around. Nice pool and wasn't overcrowded - albeit we were staking in the low season. Highly recommended.

Great small hotel for quiet peaceful stay

Very quiet place. Almost a little too quiet for us. I felt like I couldn't talk at a normal volume while on the grounds. But very serene and beautiful. The check in and reception area is very small and a little uncomfortable. Staff does not speak very much English but we were able to communicate well enough. They were helpful in making dinner reaervations and arranging taxis. Very comfortable bed and room. Great AC. Breakfast was huge and very good...a la carte, no buffet like the usual included breakfasts. Can walk all over the old town from the hotel so good location.

Exquisite traditional style with top notch service

If your coffee table is filled with large photo books about interior design or architecture then Rachamankha Hotel is the chance to live in your fantasy for a few days. We spent 7 nights there soaking up all the little details that combine to make this 'hotel' a real gem. The antique furniture in the rooms and public 'lounges'. The lighting: every single bulb seems to have been purposefully directed and shaded. The gardens are beautiful and varied. All these details live in the overall architecture of the hotel which is gorgeous in its simplicity, symmetry, and perfect proportions. The more attention you pay to the Rachamankha, the more you realize that literally everything you see and experience in this hotel was chosen by someone with a tremendous talent who was intent on delivering the ultimate experience of refined and richly traditional Thailand. Bravo! Oh yes, and by the way, the staff is all top notch. Relaxed, friendly, very knowledgable and helpful. Special thanks to Aly who pointed us to antique stores and restaurants and gave us lots of insight into the gardens, furnishings and library.

Beautiful Boutique Hotel!

This is probably the most beautiful/authentic boutique hotel I've ever stayed it. The grounds are meticulously maintained - it looks like it should be in a magazine! Mosquitoes. Lots of mosquitoes. I inquired about getting a mosquito net for our room and they didn't have one but offered to "spray" our room while we were out. Still the mosquitoes came. If only Chiang Mai didn't have this problem, it would be my favorite place in Thailand! The pool needed some TLC (tiles were grimy and the water needed skimmed to get the leaves and bugs out) and the couples massage we got was a total joke and not worth the money (open air above the pool - cool but noisy - and the masseuses gave us nearly no pressure.) My husband joked that he felt like someone was tickling him for an hour. You're better off going to a cheap place nearby. You can walk almost anywhere in the old town from this hotel which is great!

This was a great place to stay for our first trip to chiang mai. It's in a good location- you can easily wander around the old city. It's very close to the walking market which was fun. The breakfast is great. The staff are very kind and speak good English. The style of the hotel is very neat.

A gem in the middle of the busy town.

Perfect except for the air conditioner which keeps blowing over your head as you try to sleep. Had to turn the air con off and open the windows to get a good sleep.Wonder what will happen during the summer when the weather is hot?

Peaceful hotel

This hotel is in the backstreets of Chiang Mai old quarter, still wonderful. They do have a nice staff, excellent pool, delicious breakfast, and a nice library.

The hotel facilities are great, very good location, but the most important the staff members they are excellent always giving the best and makes your stay unforgettable.

DISAPPOINTING

The bathroom was old and the shower small, the water jet weak. There were no shavers and when asked the front desk could not supply, sorry we do not have. The hotel is not easy to find, not all driver know of it and no cards in the room with addresses to make it easy. Nice environment, but overall a disappointing experience for the cost.

Hidden Oasis

The hotel architecture and decor were very nice and traditional. Although the room itself seemed a bit old, it suited the atmosphere well. The breakfast was excellent. Three course meal of your liking including a small buffet of bread, cereal, and fresh fruits. One negative point is that there are no outlets. There were only two located in the bathroom. Be careful of the shower knob, was electrocuted!!

Beautiful, comfortable and great service

This is one of the most beautiful hotels we have ever stayed in. Happily it is also well run and has great food. We particularly enjoyed the library and foyer which offered alternative spots for relaxation. The pool is lovely too. The eye is delighted in every direction. A charming retreat very close to the old town. We would go back in a heartbeat.

Elegant and tranquil oasis

Our family of four stayed in a suite of two rooms connected by a large living room. The accommodations were spacious, extremely comfortable and clean, and even enabled us to bring in delicious food from a neighboring restaurant with full place settings in our suite kitchen. The staff was gracious and helpful and the pool and dining room for breakfast were also lovely.

Quiet calm magical oasis

This was the best hotel we have stayed at. The hotel is quiet, calm and magical. The staff are really friendly and helpful. There is a personal service, which cannot be faulted. Prices at the restaurant and pool are reasonable and encouraged us to eat at the hotel. Truly fantastic.
