The property was beautiful and the staff were helpful. With the car ride app that we downloaded it was easy to get rides for a good price.
Awesome stay! Hoping to come back
While I understand that the building is old, it really needs up keep. The beds, towels and just the basic condition has been worn down. I appreciate parking but know that it’s a walk down many stairs to the parking and if you’re older or have mobility problems you need to consider that. The breakfast was nice and plentiful. I’m just not sure I’d stay again.
The hotel has a newly renovated antique feeling. Our room was big, nicely illuminated by 2 big windows, with beautiful view. The bed lamps were LED with changeable color and USB plug. The bath looked newly renovated with an antique vanity. 10 min walk to old town. 30 min walk to Pena castle. Big private parking. The breakfast room was big, with big windows with nice view over the city. Many transportation availability (bus, taxi, Uber). Nice and friendly staff.
The property is a beautiful old house. I stayed in the annex which was undergoing much needed renovation. It was very cold and I had to run the shower about 5 minutes to get warm water, which seems very wasteful. It wasn’t walkable to anything because the road was one way and extremely narrow with no place for pedestrians! They offered a breakfast buffet but very limited and although they offered scrambled eggs, they were very cold. No potatoes or anything to go with them. Nice selection of fruits and breads. Decent coffee. Parking in a lot down the hillside from the hotel. The lot was completely dark making the walk back up to the room very slippery and dangerous. Lovely garden and pool area (closed for the winter).
Good stay in a traditional Quinta building. Our room had been renovated fairly recently. Good location walking distance from old Sintra. Ample parking and very helpful and polite proprietor and staff.
Family stay
Great hotel, near major attractions including Palace of Pena, Regaleira Tower, Palace of Sintra. Nice view of the hotel, free private parking is great value! And the breakfast is delicious! Service is very good!
Lovely old manor house. My husband thought the place was haunted. Breakfast was delicious!
We booked for 2 nights and ended booking for another 2 nights. Great breakfast, parking is a plus, and 5 min walk to the train station, 15-20 min to the main square of sentra. The hotel is old, very basic but it was clean, a good home base to visit sentra and lisbon.
Very nice hotel. The location is excellent and free parking as well. You can take the hiking trail to Pena Palace and Quinta da Regaleira. Beautiful and interesting garden. Great breakfast and beautiful dinning room The reception staff is very helpful.
Enjoyed our stay able to walk to town center
Very clean, convenient location and very safe.
Enjoyed our stay host was excellent
Parking is a bit inconvenient if you travel with heavy baggage.
Very unique property and the breakfast was very nice . Sintra is so hard to drive in so we were happy there was parking but it was still difficult to navigate the narrow roads in and out .
Pampered in Sintra
We loved our very short stay here and are already looking forward to coming back!
Excellent location and excellent staff! The proximity to all the attractions was perfect. They will happily let you leave your car early or late to explore Sintra. We stayed in a bungalow. It was very cute but very minimal. Don’t plan on cooking much as it’s lacking in cooking utensils. Overall it was comfy for an over night stay. It could be so much more for the price.
Wonderful stay in charming property with interesting history. Walk to the train station, Quinta da Regalaria, Pena Palace (although highly recommended a tuk tuk!) The staff and yard make the stay unforgettable.
Property was very beautiful. They switched my room to an apartment on the ground floor which was very damp and smelled a little mildewy. There was a dehumidifier in the bathroom, but it wasn’t adequate. Room was still very damp.
It was a lovely B&B, with pool. Breakfast was very plentiful. Very much enjoyed our stay.
Visited Sintra for a wedding, Quinta Das Murtas was a great base inbetween functions and exploring advetures
This is a beautiful mansion with an excellent breakfast but there was an issue in my bathroom that needed some TLC. Usually quiet and reasonably close to Castela dos Mouros.
Lovely location in tranquil valley. Very good breakfast. Very good car park. Difficult to find.Chalet could be better equipped.lots of toilet rolls
Beautiful bed and breakfast. So quaint and calming on the grounds.
Very clean. A little too far from centre
Nice and quiet
Beautiful old house, full of antiques and charm. Great knowledgeable and passionate host. Easy walk to town Did I mention the amazing breakfast selection? Do not think twice; book it now!
Lovely B&B
A really cute b&b with a lovely staff. Walking distance to the center and a few other attractions.
Great location, free parking
Lovely old house now run as a family business hotel. Great location if you don't mind a short walk into Sintra. Free parking is a bonus as driving and parking in Sintra can be a nightmare. Super friendly staff and fabulous buffet breakfast. Room comfortable but no glasses for drinking water. For the price it would have been nice to have tea and coffee making facilities and possibly a bottle of drinking water. That said, we loved it and would come again.
The apartment definitely needs work, kind of grungy but our host was wonderful. Breakfast area beautiful.
Excellent location, outstanding service.
Beautiful hotel close to old town
The main hotel building is an old palacio set in very pretty grounds. It is stunning and beautifully decorated and furnished. The views from the house are really lovely. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. We were given a large apartment in the annexe which was perfect, and very clean. Great shower pressure and wifi, comfy beds and very quiet. Breakfast was excellent and you have timed sittings as the room is quite small and it saves queuing. The location is perfect. A 10 minute walk to the old town, and reasonably close to the main palaces. A 20 minute walk to one, and a short but steep Uber ride to the others. Free on site parking is a huge bonus. We loved our stay here and would highly recommend it.
Amazing place! Beautiful views! Very convenient to go walking to the historic center. We loved it!
Our host is lovely. The place is beautiful and the breakfast set up up and food is amazing!!
Charming
You can tell that someone lovingly picks all the details from the breakfast plates to the napkin holders and the panorama windows on the lake cottages.
This property is ideally located just outside of the old town of Sintra. Within walking distance of the town centre and some of the area attractions keeping in mind the hstorical importance as a defensive area for the community - high hills for distance viewing of the enemy. The room was functional, breakfast options were great.
Staff was welcoming. Breakfast included was very good.
Quinta das Murtas is a beautiful property in a perfect location, an easy walk to the historic center of Sintra. The staff were abundantly friendly and helpful. I stayed in a kitchenette suite with my husband and 8 year old twins. We had plenty of space, very comfortable beds, and an adorable outdoor patio. The grounds are beautiful. The breakfast was lovely (though service started fairly late—early risers keep that in mind!). Without a doubt I would stay here again!
this B&B is just beatifull the house is more then 112 years I belive but is very cousy it has great upgrates in the rooms private bathrooms the bedrooms are confortables the breakfast is great plantie of food. The staff is great.
The customer service was amazing. Great great place. Cozy, clean, friendly, owners where there to guide us etc. etc. I would go back anytime hopefully soon. Highly recommend.
The location is excellent with easy access to the centre of town and major attractions. The breakfast buffet is served in a beautiful setting overlooking the property with a variety of fresh fruits and several food choices. It was nice to have parking on the premises. There is also a beautiful park only a 5 minute walk away.
Wonderful
It was such a beautiful place. Breakfast was great, staff was very helpful. Loves everything about it.
Great stay
Wet nice stay - great location, lovely B&B and excellent service.
Sintra - a must see destination
Beautiful buildings and grounds. Great breaky. Walking distance to restaurants, shopping and transportation.
Small and charming B&B with very helpful staff.
Recommended
The stay at this hotel was pretty good. The apartment was good, the breakfast was great, people was very friendly. In general stay was all good.
Very charming well decorated b&b driving is tricky on the uphill one way road. When we arrived there was no one in the reception and we were not sure where to park the car. No coffee, tea or water in the room. Otherwise beautiful garden, nice pool and jacuzzi
Unique with great ambience.
A little bit of wonderful
The young man with a beard who greeted us was amazingly helpful and friendly. Breakfast was great and we were walking distance to lots of sights. Beautiful place but crowded.
Un verre (brossage de dans) pourrait être fourni dans la salle de bain.
A unique and interesting property with lots of character, but unfortunately it doesn’t feel well maintained. Our rooms (apartments/cabins outside the main building) all had a musty smell and showed signs of disrepair. The pool had a green ring around it and the hot tub had a filmy scum on the top of the water. On the up side, the beds were comfortable, breakfast was good, and the employee who checked us in (João) was very friendly and helpful.
We only booked for one night in Sintra, and for the most part, the stay was amazing. Our check-in was smooth and welcoming, and we were given straightforward information about what we could viably see in the time we were there, and where to find restaurants. When they found out we would be leaving before their breakfast schedule, they brought bread, cheese, meat, juice, milk, and fruit to our unit, so we wouldn't be traveling hungry. There was ample parking in the guest lot. We booked in a self-contained unit which had a kitchen, but no coffee or coffee maker. Other than that, the lighting is lacking outside, but many roads in Sintra are very dark at night, so walking is a challenge when the sun goes down.
Great host but poor Hotel
The only great aspect of this was the hotel manager who gave excellent service througout. This is not a hotel but a hostel. Timed entrance for breakfast, normal key s for doors
Bridget
Wonderful space letting nature in thru the windows Beautiful koi pond fountain and pet macaws Delicious European style breakfast buffet The rain didn’t damper our stay Coming back to Sintra
Friendly and knowledgeable service from Romulo and all staff. Gorgeous and clean property. A variety of food to choose from at breakfast. This b&b is a gem!
Every thing was good and the beautiful nature around is amazing
It's a beatiful palacette in a beautiful area.
John, the concierge was excellent
Amazing once in a lifetime experience in a quaint and unique property lovingly maintained by the owner and wonderful staff . The receptionist and the property manager were warm helpful and went out of their way to make us comfortable !
Verdant tranquil Sintra Quinta stay
Loved everything about this place! There were 4 of us - stayed in the spacious family suite located close to the pool/garden. Parking is included. Walkable to Pena palace, old town, Quinta Regaleira. Service and breakfast was fabulous.
This place is beyond charming!
1888 home with interesting history, in a part of Sintra that seems to be one huge beautiful garden. Plenty of onsite parking, perfect distance for walking to town yet still quiet at night. Included breakfast buffet was outstanding. No complaints whatsoever!
Petfect place to stay in Sintras
This B&B is perfect for a stay in Sintras. There is a parking lot where you can safely leave your car and do the sightseeing by bus, train, tuk tuk, or you can walk to the town and to the castles. The room was very clean. The bathroom is large and the shower works great. The reception is very helpful. The breakfast was great.
Muito agradável! Café da manhã delicioso. Todos muito simpáticos. Muito charmoso e confortável.
Magical surroundings. Cute place. Bountiful full breakfast. Would return to stay again.
Super amazing staff. Very old building, but kept in good condition. Delicious breakfast.
Well worth consideration
Very pleasant hotel, located just outside the main area of Sintra, although only 10-15 mins walk into town. A good continental style breakfast and helpful staff, if you have any questions. Hot tub and small pool were very welcome after some hot days of visiting attractions / walking.
This was a very cute B&B. The staff were all very kind and made us feel right at home!
Ok
Unique hotel - beautiful inside Staff were extremely helpful and shared their knowledge of the area readily
Lovely place to stay while exploring Sintra. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff are lovely.
This place was amazing! It is a beautiful building and the breakfast is awesome and the staff are nice and happy to help. Great location to explore sintra. I would highly recommend this bed and breakfast.
Room with high humidity
Loved My Stay
Great location and majestic property. Super friendly staff! I would definitely stay again.
Easy walk into town. Short drive to coast for a days hiking.
Our first stop in Portugal after a long flight and we arrived to a comfy bed and clean room in a lovely inn. We could walk to dine, shop and tour around. Great stay in Sintra.
Historic bnb
Great bed and breakfast in an 1880 estate. Come for the ambiance, note the modern luxuries. They do have a pool and some sitting areas and parking. Good breakfast. Easy 8 minute walk to town. No a/c, so be warned for summer booking, it is really warm to try and sleep.
Great location and cute renovated palace
Beautiful property in an amazing location 8 minutes walk from the city centre of Sintra. Property can use better maintenance. For example, the common hotub was not in operation and the staff didn't let us know. In addition, the AC was letting off heat at times and the fridge was making a weird buzzing sound all night. Smaller stuff like towels being old and not matching were let downs; not super important but still. That said, very good value for where it is, just a little more effort will make the difference which is why I can't give them 5 stars.
Excellent location, parking included. Rooms are a bit old and noisy. Small showers, nice breakfast.
Loved the parrots. Nicely landscaped. Parking!!! Relatively close to many things.
beautiful scenery
What a wonderful place to stay… definitely don’t do Sintra as a day trip, and instead stay a couple nights here! We had our own little cottage by the garden pond. The photos don’t do it justice and the staff are fabulous. The location is perfect for the two main sights: Peña Palace and the Moorish castle. Town is a charming 5min stroll away.
When we walked up to this property, I wasn’t sure we were in the right place. Quinta das Murtas is a pale pink manor house with beautiful grounds and a fountain in the courtyard surrounded by walls. Parking is in a lower area and secured by a separate gated entrance. The staff were all friendly and welcoming and many spoke English, helpful to us. We heard dining room conversations in English, Spanish, German, and, of course, Portuguese. Due to COVID they’d taken the precaution of having several seatings for breakfast to be sure the dining room wasn’t too crowded. Breakfast was available in an adjoining room and was abundant and beautifully displayed. There are meats, cheeses, 3 kinds of cereal, 6-7 kinds of fresh fruit, cooked eggs and small sliced cooked sausages, coffee, hot water, hot milk, assortment of teas, fresh juices, and an assortment of other ‘milks’, oat, almond, soy. Being winter, the weather was often misty with occasional rain so damp was an issue. Our suite had a tiled bathroom, sitting area with wardrobe for hanging and drawers for clothes, and a bedroom with a radiator for extra dry & warmth as needed, and delightful old windows, one like a porthole. Quinta das Murtas is not a new, modern hotel but we found it entirely satisfactory for our week long stay.
Endroit sympa
30 minutes des deux châteaux Et 15 minutes du centre ville Endroit sympa
Hôtel sympa pour couple
Un très bon endroit pour un couple. L’hôtel est en montée au dessus du village et de la gare à environ 15 minutes à pieds
Beautiful property, excellent service
Clean, charming property, excellent service. On-site parking, nice garden area, beautifully decorated interior.
Charming Sintra Hotel
The hotel was a converted Mansion full of artifacts and antiques. Rooms were large and breakfast was excellent.
Nicely located, friendly staff
Amazing stay.
The stay was amazing, we stayed in a private cottage style unit in the garden by the pool and it was a great experience, very clean and the staff was amazing.
Good hotel if you bring a dog
Great location, only 5 min to city center. Great hotel if you bring dogs. We rented an apartment.
Good stay.
Very kindly employees... Nice apartment, clean and confortable. Very good advantage is the free car parking.
Lovely, recommend!
Firstly - we ended up here in corona times, so they had rooms available. Why i am saying this is that what you see might not be what you get. We tend to book apartments and as private property as possible. Appears that what we booked is a cheaper version (still above what we normally take) but with pictures or a better one. so be carefull there. All in all, if you can take more than a room, do it and don't cheap out on apartment, so you end up in a nice place with a nice TV and air-con. Their nice apartments (we had quadro fro two) are really nice!!! Kitchenette is not fully equipped, but it's OK - Sintra has sooo much to offer, you will not care about it. And honestly - if we could, stay more, we would stay in same place. Location is everything, walkable to all the restaurants, also in in the end of killing day-tour of all the high-land castles. We will one day come back for Sintra that is sure and we will most likely stay right here. really not bad!
The property was very cute and the breakfast was delicious. We were thrilled with our room. It had an extra sitting area and we really appreciated the extra space!
What can I say, we fell in love with this place the moment we arrived! Sintra is like stepping into a fairytale and staying at this lovely bed and breakfast was just the perfect setting. We stayed in one of their “apartments” on the grounds, and it was so nice. Secluded, waking up next to the pond. The main house looked very nice too, you are up high on a hill. They had a nice breakfast in a beautiful room every morning, and the gentlemen at reception were so helpful with tips for us to have dinner, maps, day trips. They also had a jacuzzi which was great after long days walking up Sintra’s hills! (And a pool in the summer). Couldn’t recommend this place more.
Lovely country feel hotel with parking
Lovely countryside feel hotel in great location but be warned, the roads are narrow to it and to check in, you must go to the main hotel entrance (Black gates, small courtyard with fountain), & just park in the courtyard & AFTER go to the carpark, do not drive past the main entrance to try & find the parking and do not go straight/bear left after the gates or you will go miles back around country roads!!! Note depending on the room, you may hear barking dogs in the night across the hill.
Very nice B&B. Clean, quiet, excellent breakfast. A little bit cold if you go during winter. Walking distance to Centro Histórico and several tourist attractions. Parking available inside the property. Extra charge for check in after 9:30 PM. There is no elevator.
Lovely rooms, excellent breakfast, dedicated parking, and helpful check-in. The gentleman working on Saturday and Sunday evening was fantastic. He helped with our travel plans and made me a glass of hot water for tea and delivered it to our room unexpectedly. So kind.
Everyone there was very friendly and helpful. The room was perfect and the location and property itself was great as well. The only thing that was strange was the layout for breakfast but that wasn't a big deal, just inefficiently organized. Lovely property with lovely staff.

Sintra center
Eas nice. Close of the down town and castels. But... my God!!! If you want hot water... you have to wait 4-5... 6 minutes. You open the valve and go do something else. We think they order it from Lisbon.
