This is my second time saying there, i like the accommodation
The cabins were small windowless rooms. There was AC and the beds were comfortable.
Very nice, lean and modern but the rooms are very small.
The place was very clean
Good overnight hotel option
We stopped here for one night before taking the Ferry the next day. I was honestly surprised of how well taken care of this hotel is, shared bathrooms but they are very well maintained and extremely comfortable beds!
Property is great. Right across the street from the ferry. There’s 5-6 restaurants around within walking distance. The Main Street is fine. Be careful walking at night. Odd there’s no real easy accessible way of renting bicycles. Not the hotels fault. Hotel itself is great! Restaurant and a rooftop bar offer pristine views!
Great place and convenient location for visiting Papeete and Moorea with a ferry right across the road.
Tiny rooms, designed really for one person (or two being very cozy) - breakfast buffet atrociously overpriced - but everything else above reproach
My main comment is that if you book the "Polynesian Cabins", pay close attention to the size of the room. It was about 4 feet by 10 feet with a bunk bed on the side. It was enough for me as I really needed just a "day room" after a cruise and before a flight home. Shared bathroom and shower facilities. Staff was great. Gave me complimentary early check in at 8:30am as that was what I needed. Concierge arranged an island tour for me at last minute. Very helpful!
Friendly staff and perfect for a quick overnight to catch the ferry the next morning to the other islands. Rooms were small, but I was alone and had no issue climbing up the ladder into the bed. (Might be difficult if physically challenged)
Stayed here for one night to take a flight to a different island the next day. The hotel is close to the airport (19-20 usd taxi ride from the airport). Pretty close to everything within walking distance if you need to do some shopping before continuing your journey. If you’re staying in one of the upper floors the noise might be an issue due to the rooftop (which was a lot of fun) I was on the first floor and had no trouble at all. Check in process was fast and efficient.
The ladder for the bed was quite challenging
Service good
The staff is very welcoming and you cannot beat the proximity to the ferry to Moorea.
Cabin took us by surprise
This was a fabulous place to stay for a few hours before our early morning flight. Set in a great location by the ferry terminal and near lots of restaurants and shops. Even though this hotel bas a 24 hr bar and lots of activity we didnt hear a thing from our cabin room. The shared bathrooms were very nice, a separate toilet and shower cubicle all to yourself with a locking door and toiletries provided. Reception was great, we pre ordered a taxi for 2am and it turned up slightly early. What we werent prepared for though us that the bed was only accessible by climbing a ladder to it...once up there it was great..tv, air conditioning and great lighting, not to mention really comfortable bed. We re checked and were definitely not aware of this, lucky we were able but felt anyone with balance or mobility issues would definitely have an issue. I hoped that once i was up there that i didnt need to use the bathroom during that time.
Perfect for the price. Very clean
We did not enjoy our stay here. The room was even tinier than expected for the cost. People from other rooms sat all evening in the common room within feet from our door so there was little privacy. The shared bathroom facilities were alway busy, out of toilet paper, and not cleaned. The front desk staff were moderately friendly. Because it’s in a busy part of the city parking was an additional cost. But it’s in close proximity to the ferry and offered many places nearby to eat.
Highly recommend
Incredible place to stay. Of course - a bit different with ‘hostel’ type rooms and baths - but really clean and secure. Great bar on the rooftop Personal super helpful
Great location in front of the pier and walking distance to the markets. Staff is efficient and friendly. Cabin room size is small as expected but beddings are comfortable. Perfect for a budget stopover for 2-3 days in Tahiti before heading off to the other islands. Hope the hotel maintains it's cleanliness and modern facilities
The common bathrooms were often dirty with unflushed toilets, empty or unworkable soap dispensers, and wet floors. No provisions anywhere for your things - take a shower, leave your clothes on the floor in a break. Staff was rude and unhelpful. Access from a traffic standpoint is a nightmare.
Quiet and comfortable loft room
Stayed in the Kontiki Cabins, which is a small pod-like room with an elevated queen loft bed. Both the room and A/C were very quiet and the bed comfortable. Having separate toilet and shower facilities is less convenient, but the quiet and comfort were well worth it. Would definitely stay again.
Location is perfect.
Very good accommodation with air conditioning at a reasonable price. Coming from the north, I appreciated the AC. I did not prefer the men’s shared shower and bathroom down the hall, but it was not a concern. It was clean.
I was one person staying in a single room. While smaller than even the smallest hotel room, the price was great for Tahiti. Sharing a lockable bathroom and shower with other guests was not a problem as there was always one available and the cleaning staff did an excellent job cleaning them after almost every use. The bedding and mattress was extremely comfortable. The room controlled AC worked great, it even came with a small bar fridge. Free coffee, tea and ice were available on the 1st floor lounge. The only improvement I would suggest to the owners is to put more coat hangers in the rooms as clothes and luggage storage areas are limited.
If you get one of the tiny pods, you’ll save money… but make sure you know what you’re getting into! Staff was friendly and helpful. Facility was clean.
Nice clean accommodation very close to cruise terminal. Room was small as descibed and shared bathrooms were nice and well mantained. Perfect for one night stopovers.
Food in restaurant excellent fantastic view of Moorea harbor. Second time staying here
We were in need of a budget-friendly accommodation for an overnight stay, and Polynesian Cabins by Kon Tiki exceeded our expectations. The convenience, baggage storage, comfortable bed, and clean shared bathrooms made our stay enjoyable. While the ventilation in the bathrooms could have been improved, the small rooms were adequately air-conditioned. Despite their size, they met our needs, and the proximity to downtown, restaurants, and the ferry was a major plus. The front desk staff were also exceptionally friendly. Overall, if the chance arises, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!
Too small for a family. It might be better for one or two people.
Clean and super nice staff !!
Like the experience on this new comfort hotel
Cleaning, service, location, was good.
It was tiny and expensive, smelt like mildew.
Kon Tiki is so cute! The "Reeftop" Bar (roof top) and restaurant one floor below are stunning. Rooms and facilities are super clean, modern, and perfect for our needs. Great coffee and breakfast in the lobby area!
The staff were exceptionally helpful and i speak english and they were very very patient with my attempt to speak french! Lol. A must stay and very conveniently located. Walking to anything you want and a great restaurant view and staff. I will be staying again!
Great location. They stored our bags for a night flight and allowed us to shower too. Highly recommend for a quick stop in the city
Great place! I also reported that a stranger slept on the couch at the patio for days.
Convenient, across the street from the ferry,. Allowed us to store luggage, shower and use a quiet resting area after we checked out with an evening flight
Great for one night. DJ downstairs or next door so I slept with headphones on, but didn’t wake the kids. Really comfortable mattresses
Perfect fpr short stay and i love the whale on the wall
It was great place for a quick stop and good night sleep.
The Cabins are extremely tiny and claustrophobic, so i upgraded to a standard room which was double the price, but backed onto the fire station and was very noisy, also the smoking area was right beneath my widow
This place is a scam. The “cabin” rooms have a shared bathroom and NO windows. At check-in I was shocked and when I asked for explanation the desk person said “it happens all the time”. Then went on to say that “it is clear when the booking that the room has no bathroom and no windows”…but at the same time people complain all the time. If it were “clear” people wouldn’t complain. I was offered a room with a bathroom for 3 times the price. Scam
Property is very clean and all staff excellent. This is a great place but one needs to be aware of what you are and are not getting. Cabin refers to like a boat's cabin, very small with only bed, shelf and TV and small refrigerator. Shared bathroom outside of Cabin which are individual not a group bathroom.
The cabins are a great idea to ensure a private room without spending too much. Really clean and very comfortable, cool lighting and good wifi. It's like a bunk bed but you only have access to one half of the bed if that makes sense. There is someone above you but they are in a separate room to you. Only thing is that you can sometimes hear them if they're being loud but wasn't a huge problem. Would highly recommend.
The room is so small you can't open your luggage or sit on you bed. Community toilets and shower but no towels provided. Room is too small for two people to exist in.
After a stay in Moorea, very convenient in front of the ferry and walking distance to downtown Papeete. New place, very well done !
Lost in Translation
Should be labeled Polynesian closet or cabinet. Room has a loft bed up an 8 foot ladder. Entry area is approx. 5 ft x 10 ft. My wife felt claustrophobic once the door is closed. Shared bathrooms are down a hall outside the shared common area. The desk staff was very helpful to arrange another room for an extra $200 but after a long flight we didn't care. At least they had something else. I guess the old saying buyer beware holds true. Hotel is directly across from ferry terminal which would be helpful for many travelers. Did not use their restaurant or bar since we arrived on a Sunday (closed) and Monday 5/1 is a Tahitian holiday (closed). Ferry building blocks most views of the ocean/port. I'm sure we will be able to look back and laugh at this since we did end up with a nice room. Definitely not for those who are afraid of climbing ladders or small spaces. More for the young and agile.
The "cabins" are small private rooms, basically a bed, desk, mini fridge and 4 walls but most useful has air con to stay cool, bed to rest, wifi, and many charging options. The rest is shared common area with washrooms with showers and an outdoor lounge with a mini kitchen, all shared. If you are mentally prepared for the concept and adjust your expectations it's very good. Great for a short stay or lay over at a reasonable cost. We stayed for 12 hours waiting for a late night flight after checking out of our normal room. The staff were so kind to let us check in early. It's a great spot to rest, stay cool, freshen up, and shower before a long flight home.
Nice stay. Location suggests short overnight stay to continue travels (esp. with the ferry)
Great location, super helpful staff
