Very relaxing and convenient, only far from all the shopping malls But i would stay there again
Great vacation
Our stay was good. Room was nice as well Resort
Nice place to relax.
Staff is not good. AC didn't work for 3 days out of 4 days stay. Reported it multiple times and they never fixed it. Staff just used to pass on the request from 1 to another. At the time of check out manager said that they would do something for this but never did anything. Food options is very limited for vegetarians. Not too much options for dining around the area too.
The beach was beautiful and perfect. There was plenty of seating and kids loved the beach area. Accommodations were fine, pools are large and clean but cold. This resort is only good for those who want to do nothing but sit on beach or at pool with nothing going on. There are no themed parties at the monkey bar, nothing for kids to do during day or night. Dining options were limited as well as menu options at the restaurants. Pictures are exaggerated as the place is dated. Supermarket area also had limited options. Would not go again.
Very nice
It was nice staying there
This is a residential area tailored for short-term rental. The apartment was beautiful, excellent services, beautiful beach and a variety of good restaurants.
Highly Recommended.
We loved our stay!!
Very friendly environment ya guys will love it
Nice place
Me encantó como todo era tan accesible para poderse movilizar y las personas muy amables y entendian nuestro vibe
Beautiful property! Pizza is really good too.. the room had a stench but I guess it’s because it is closed up and the AC not on. Had a few mishaps, like AC issue but they rectified ASAP.
Great location nice apartment and nice beach
I was book at a all inclusive riu bamboo spiders in room i called next day i was there to celebrate my daughter birthday i was greeted with l a warm welcome
Ive been here many times - would return again. Convenient supermarket and beach is close by!
Very friendly staff at this property. Amenities are good. Restaurant pricing very fair.
The staff in general was very nice and attentive. The average rating was due to not having WiFi. First, we weee told the was an issue due to construction. Second day at night, we contacted the office and someone came to the room but the WIFi was still not working. Finally, I was offered an available WIFI from another room which did work. Questions is why was it done on the first day we reported the issue? Thanks
security is beyond excellent, the people are incredible! the only thing i thought was odd is that you have to pay a deposit for electricity. but it is refunded to you at the end of your stay. this is if you don't abuse the usage such as running the ac with the windows open ect. i highly recommend this place
My light in one of the bathroom did not work water comes down throught the light maintenace did not come to fix the light o email and call my stove was not working tjey come two hours later when i fix it house keeping is a part of the package one day they just pop open no knock nothing they did not come back the office said i should request but it was already in package. Everything else was ok quiteness peacefull lovely people
Great value and friendly staff
Check in was horrific they tried to say we didn't pay ahead of time and then tried to make us book directly thru them, so they can charge us an additional $75 for the stay. I still rebooked on hotels.com causing them to be annoyed and move super slow to check us in. They then told us that we needed to pay an additional $75 for electricity. I told them we got a message saying only thing due at property was $50 but they insisted and when I threatened to cancel everything and go to another hotel they accepted the $50. Not one of the 5 days I was there did me or the other guest in my party have hot water to shower with. The water pressure was terrible. Taking a shower in sprinklers would've have been better. And everytime we left the penthouse (yes paid extra for the penthouse and got basic everything) when we would come back it would be a horrible sewer smell that the staff acknowledged but couldn't find a solution. Everytime u want to go anywhere you needed to be picked up by the golf cart that only came when you called the front desk (if they decided to answer) To get anywhere its a good 5-7 minute walk.. you will definitely be getting your steps in. Overall I will never stay here again and wouldn't suggest you do either.
Amazing just needs more restaurants around the area
Nice place
Fine stay
Overall had a good time. The facility was nice and as pictured. The service and the other facilities were fine. Sometimes the service was quick and other times it took a while. Couldn’t get in contact with the property prior to arrival, had long waits at restaurants where we were the only guests, and couldn’t get our security deposit for the electricity back because they couldn’t contact the person with the key.
It was ok. Electricity went out every night for 6/7 times. Bathroom was filthy, dirty and old. The place is not that convenient. The best thing was rooftop. Overall we had a great time
Very good location
I never write reviews, but I'll make an exception in this case. Very briefly summed up: The resort in general is in a very poor state and is literally falling apart (old). Everything from wardrobe doors being stuck, to safe not being available/functional, showers broken, no hot water and power outlets being loose and in such a condition where it's a fight to plug in anything (yes, I did use the correct adapter for this country). The rooms are not clean. Towels were straight up dirty, in two rooms. The service is poor, and if you plan to address your concerns, be prepared to spend more or less your entire stay waiting for the staff to most likely not fix the issues you are having. The restaurant food is significantly overpriced compared to how poor the quality was. A shabby breakfast for $30 is daylight robbery. They lure you in with decently priced rooms, to severely overcharge you for the food they make at resort restaurants. The quality of the food is at best 2/6. You would have to have a car and also be prepared to drive for 30 minutes or more to find options. This place is a tourist trap and you would be wise to stay away.
The apartments need to be upgraded. The furniture and fixtures are in very poor condition. The communication was terrible if you do not speak Spanish. They only gave us 4 towels and no wash cloths to use for a 9 day stay. No one told us that we could schedule activities at the resort with the concierge so I did them myself via internet.
Good service
Very good place to stay
Incredible
Loved it. People are do nice. It is beautiful here. TY
The room was dirty upon arrival, I called to have someone look into it and the housekeeping supervisor had an attitude and was rude. She showed me a different room that smelled like mold. So we decided to stay where we were and asked for clean sheets and towels which she did with an attitude. I was assigned some guy name Ramal for any questions or issues. Well he never responded to my messages when I asked about the safe. The property is nice and has potential but the staff is terrible. The only staff that was amazing were the cigar shop guys.
Nice property
Great location
Fantastic place to stay. LOVED the staff!
No hot water for shower
The property was a steal for the price. The staff was so friendly and accommodating ready to help us with anything we needed. The are was well kept with many art installations along the way to the beach which was nice to see. The apartments were incredibly spacious but needed some internal upgrades like the beds were very creaky just to sit on it. There was no hand soap available in any washrooms, the shower was broken in one of the washrooms. One of the bathroom’s ledge was broken so we couldn’t keep our stuff there either. I appreciate the laundry rack so we dried off our swimwear/clothes everyday as well as the terrace area that we could hang out at night. Overall could do better/upgrade basic amenities but it does not change the fact that we still enjoyed our stay and will consider coming back!
Muy bien
Great stay! Staff was super helpful and kind!
Truly amazing place. The checkin process was very fast. The accommodation is in excellent condition. The staff was very helpful, they even gave us coffee from their own, because the coffee shop was closed at 7 AM. Private back area with bar and restaurant. Several other restaurants to choose from in the area. Many thanks to all the staff!
Very clean with all ammenities needed
The property is fantastic. The penthouse was absolutely great. Very comfortable. Everything we wanted and needed.
Stay was ok. Loved the transportation provided to get to the beach. Loved the beach chairs and umbrella accommodations as well as the bar on the beach.
The water does not get hot often they have a box they say controls the temperature but its a hit and miss either one shower will get lukewarm and the other would be cold or they would both be cold i stayed 1 week and I think 3 times it may have been just right. Everything else was cool but honestly I don't play when it comes to Hot showers its a huge necessity for me!
The staff have all been very friendly and helpful. However, we had to be moved to a different accommodation as a problem with the air conditioner meant there were pools of water on the floor and water running down the walls. The plaster was coming off as well. We then moved to a new apartment that had an infestation of cockroaches and some mice droppings.
Lots of problems with apartments
When we checked in, one of the toilets was not flushing properly. The they said they would fix it the next day but then said they could not do it unless someone was in the room. When I said we had tours booked for all days of our stay, they eventually got to fixing the toilet. There were numerous other issues (broken water cooler, clogging of the other toilet), some of which were fixed and others were not addressed. They finally moved me to a new room when I complained about all the issues I was experiencing. They moved me into a new apartment the next day and it was all good until the main dining table (glass top) collapsed the following day leaving broken glass on the floor. My son stepped on the broken glass and was cut. Despite my reporting the issue, the broken table was not addressed promptly. Since I was checking out the next day, I did not make a big deal of it. All in all, the stay was "tolerable" and we slept ok, but with a lot of inconveniences. The availability of a kitchen was a plus and saved us a lot of money on the limited and expensive restaurant options.
Quiet beach, lovely room
A light bulb was not working. The safe in the room was broken. And the patio door was broken(could not be locked). They fixed the door and sorted out the bulb situation.
This was our second time at Playa Palmera because we had such a good experience the first time back in June 2023. And the second stay did not disappoint, helpful, friendly staff that was aways available. Although, shopping, dining and the beach was close by, there was always a driver offering to give you a ride to where you were going. There was a feel good community vibe from the staff and guests. My wife and I look for to our next stay. Loved it! ❤️ 😍
Very nice place to stay apartments are very nice and clean and newer and staff was always amazing especially the drivers of the golf carts they were always pleasant.
My friends and I stayed here for a week during our spring break and it was amazing!! Super affordable and the staff were very friendly. We were traveling with a Spanish speaker so we didn’t have much difficulty, but the staff did have varying levels of English skills which is to be expected, and it wasn’t much of a problem all in all. Our apartment was clean, beautifully decorated, and well equipped, and there was a lovely pool right outside. Food wasn’t included but everything was incredibly affordable! The Florecita restaurant was super upscale and luxurious, and the other eateries had very good food as well. The beach was really nice too! It can be pretty windy there but I’ve heard that’s not uncommon for the Dominican coast, and it wasn’t much of a bother. Overall you get what you pay for and more. We were really happy with our stay and would return. It’s not a luxury all-inclusive but it’s really amazing quality and value for the price. One note: it’s relatively far from attractions and Bavaro beach is about a 20 minute drive. We had to call a couple of Ubers, so if you want to stay somewhere that’s really close to clubbing and activity this is not the place. We didn’t mind though.
Had a wonderful time, will return again.
a jem i was impressed awsome place highly recomend it ! nothing negativ !
The property was amazing. Stayed 10 nights and am planning on coming back as soon as i can! The beach bar was amazing jon and victor were awsome! The restaurant Flaurecitia was top notch and the service from hector and the other waitors was perfect. If you do come make sure to remember to brush up on spanish because english is not widely spoken here. Also some ammeneties are missing in rooms like face clothes. Hand towels so make sure to pack a few extra comforts if u want them ) very nice vacation here and highly recomend :)
Great value for the cost. You get what you pay for.
A Get-a-Way of a Lifetime
Playa Palmera was beautiful! Easy access to the beach and the pools were well kept and family friendly! Loved how the room balconies ALL faced the pool. The staff was extremely kind and helpful when needed. We will be staying again!!
The place is calm and clean. Nice for families with lots of restaurants and a supermarket. We stayed in an apartment facing a shared pool. The beach is less than a five minutes walk from the apartments. They organise excursions as well. It would be good to add some basketball/tennis courts for teenagers and adults.
I am not sure how this is considered a luxury property. I was so unimpressed with the service, the property and accommodations that left and got another hotel within an hour of arriving. I’ll never use orbit again, what I got, was nothing like what I was expecting.
The beach, plenty of space. Good value for the money. Reception area slow
Great value for money. Top resort.
We loved Playa Palmera! The pool was just outside our door and the beach a short walk or golf cart drive away. The apartment style accommodations were perfect for our needs. Definitely going back again!❤️
The place was fantastic! And close to the beach too!
Entire resort was in need of serious maintenance all the pools except the monkey club were in really bad shape. And the music was so loud even midday at the club pool that it actually hurt our ears and the drinks were terrible. Very few staff spoke any English and some of the little shops like grocery and pizza had extremely rude staff. Our room needed a lot of maintenance. Very cheaply maintained. No actual blankets. Parts of it were definitely not clean. One of the bathrooms wreaked like sewage. We had to figure out how to rig the hot water for showers. Very lacking in outdoor amenities. The shopping centre area had a distinct sewage smells in the air. Spend the extra money for a decent all inclusive otherwise you end up spending more in the long run for a less enjoyable vacation.
We booked the 2 bedroom penthouse. Absolutely loved it! It was spacious. The wifi was excellent. The private rooftop balcony was to die for! The electrical outlets in the apartment were a bit tricky if you are from North America. The outlets on the balcony worked fine. The cookware was very thin; so, the food had a tendency of burning. If ordering water from the grocery store. Wait until the end of the day when you will be in your room. You have to wait for them to deliver the water. One day we spent almost an entire day in our room waiting for the water to be delivered. The beach access and beach area were excellent! The pools and pool areas were fabulous. Would definitely return!
Good
Punta Cana on a budget. Good value, friendly staff
Our stay was above expectations. We stayed in both a penthouse apartment and a first-floor apartment. Both were clean, nicely decorated and well maintained. living rooms were spacious but bathrooms cramped. Parking was convenient. The penthouse area was sparsely furnished and less convenient than expected. Electrical outlets were all hard to use due to faulty and annoying child-proof feature. Staff was friendly and cooperative. Music at the beach and restaurants was louder than we liked but the pool area was quiet. Other guests were friendly and chill. On-site food store was convenient, although fresh veggies were mostly below par. Overall, a pleasant experience and a good value, especially for a larger group. "A la carte" instead of all inclusive.
Muy bueno
Excellent!
Pros :Enjoyed beach, always found chairs,Castaways restaurant had good food. Cons:The penthouse we stayed at for a month needed repair.Closet doors in both bedrooms were off for entire month ,never fixed after several calls.Window in bathroom wouldn’t close .Stove & hood fan gave electric shocks. Both bedrooms had 4 pillows,We only got 2 pillowcases ,& were left with 2 stained ones left uncovered.I was told that not one safe in entire resort worked,& that I should “Take my money with me .I suggested that perhaps I had other things I would like to put in the safe & was told again very rudely,”Take your money with you! We bought clothes hangers, for our guests, the second bedroom had none. We were provided 2 flimsy bath towels ,no hand towels,or face cloths . They ask that you put toilet paper in container ,not to flush down toilet. Never done that at a 5 star before! Pool was just down the stairs, many tiles have already fallen off, the water feature that quit 2 weeks in ,wasn’t fixed ,when we left 2 weeks later. We were right next to a hotel, that is being built on the property, & we’re awoken daily at around 6am with noise of people & machinery. Needless to say, I would not recommend this property.
Muy bueno
Employees were Awesome
One must go repeatedly to Castaways Bar and restaurant...on the beach! The bartenders are absolutely without a doubt the BEST!! Jon, Jones, Melvin....A-1 service and they KNOW their drinks...beautiful AND tasty! A HUGE SHOUT OUT to Bolivar...our Amigo... familia!!! Heartfelt, patient and shared himself as a person not just a concierge.... Playa Palmera is a Wonderful place to stay...but very hard to leave! We will be back!
Good for money you pay
Playa Palmera Royal Beach Resort is run by Daniel Espinola and Mr. Bolivar. They are well suited and excellent in the roles as Concierge. The front desk, housekeeping, shuttle service, and restaurant staff are excellent completely. We would go back in the future.
Fun in the sun
Overall the stay was great. Its not one of the huge traditional resorts but it served the purpose. The check-in was great friendly guys at the counter. They will drive you and your bags to apartment (we had our own transportation) so they just drove down in cart and showed us they place we were in. The only thing was that our place did not have hot water at all. We were told it was all around but we asked a couple we met and they said one of the two bathrooms had hot water but neither of ours did. The pool also needs to be retiled. Overall it was great. Beach is 2-3 min walk or the resort workers from the desk ride up and down the road and if you are walking they will pick you up. Great place to stay a little hard to find at first if your driving yourself. Had an absolute amazing time. Plenty of places to eat on the premises. Would go again.
Maintenance was lacking in several areas. No English spoken. Beach and rooftop Jacuzzi were wonderful. Grocery store overcharged us , taken advantage of because lack of communication and understanding.
It was fair to middle on the stay. Nothing to really say about it being good except the room was nice. I had major problems checking in and misinformation about the WIFI upon arrival. The restaurant next the the pool didn’t have what’s on the menu, missing a lot of items and not even lemonade there, it also made my stomach upset. A huge thing is. There is an employee entrance with lockers behind the room. Early in the morning AND late at night the employees are entering and leaving making a tremendous amount of noise! Yelling screaming laughing with mopeds screeching away. Woke me up both in the morning and night. Very unpleasant and rude! The golf cart service for the hotel should be more attentive and respectful for traffic. I was almost hit and run off the road by one of them. The driver was laughing with the drunk people in the back and didn’t show any signs of remorse after the incident. Housekeeping ! Didn’t get my room ready early for me. If someone shows up early they should take presidency over late arrivals. Or maybe an option of paying more to get their room.? Doesn’t make since because the first morning there they were knocking on my door at 8:30 to clean, I didn’t need it. Then later that afternoon they knocked and asked again. Still didn’t need it! When I was leaving and getting ready to check out, I brought one load to my car and when I got back to my room the door was open and housekeeper had went in and started their thing when it was 1
I like this place alot. Only here 24 hours and will return. Am sitting alone (no one else here) at the big beautiful Monkey Club pool as far away from the unnecessarily LOUD music blasting from the pool bar speakers. Might not be as loud as last night. And i cant gelp but wonder...Why? Why sit at a pool bar if you cant talk or be heard? Do they think the guests will here the music from far away and come and spend money? Or will guests be repelled? Its not even noon. Guess i'll walk to the beautiful beach nearby. Otherwise. Great place!
The service in the pizza place and the Pollito place lack customer service. Each and every time. The food at the chicken place is sitting there for who knows how long. You can see the food has been sitting there for a long period of time. Dry food and cold is what we were served. I was embarrassed for them. They didn’t seem to care. As for the pizza place, the cashier seemed like she hated her job.
Everything was good , employees are so nice and helpful.
This property should not, in good faith, be listed by Expedia. The location is run down and felt very unsafe. It was so bad that my daughter and I left to stay at a different property after a worker at the property made a sexually suggestive gesture toward my (12 year old!) daughter. DO NOT stay here. The grounds are unacceptable at best and unsafe at worst. Anyone going to Punta Cana needs to know that this place does not represent the many other safe and beautiful resorts that exist out there. What is worse is that they didn't even refund us for the days that we stayed elsewhere (bc I prepaid---another pro tip is DO NOT PREPAY!). Never again. I hope others do not suffer by choosing this nightmare hotel. I'm a frequent Expedia user but this experience gave me great pause as to whether positive reviews on the site are paid reviews subsidized by the hotels themselves. Proceed with great caution!!!
Loved the staff
Such wonderful people work there
Great out-of-the-way but beautiful property. Not much competition for beach chairs. 3 *great* restaurants on property. Staff are delightful people, pleasant and helpful but few have English, so polish your Spanish skills. Note: Even though this is not an all-inclusive, it is surrounded by all- inclusive resorts, so the nearest off-property restaurant is a 45 minutes ($90 round trip) taxi drive. So effectively you’ll largely want to stay on-property. Rooms are well air-conditioned and nicely outfitted. Full kitchen and deck roof for star-gazing. Great concierge and alt food in addition to restaurants include pizza, ice cream, bakery, and fried chicken place. Staff drive you around in golf carts all day/night. ❤️
Playa Palmera staff is very friendly and helpful. The place feels safe and with easy access to the beach. It is not a full resort experience which it was I was looking for, with two restaurants on site The apartment was comfortable and with access to a private pool.
Everything is on you
Veryblittle is included. We had to buy our own water to drink.
Overall great location and property, but jacuzzi in the pent house gave us electric shock. We requested for the service, they came and took a look, and never fixed even after requesting few times. When asked for discount, they were requesting for whatsapp messages as proof. We did call them through whatsapp and requested service. The electrician came and verified as well.
The place was isolated and the beaches were empty which would be nice if you prefer quiet place. There are still lot of construction going on and lot of workers traffic. The communication was very bad. The contact number they gave was not working. The property sinks are rusty. The Jacuzzi was having electric shock. Called customer service and they did not show up to fix the issue. Had to call and miss several messages still no luck. If you are looking for cheaper place, then this is it. But, if you are looking for good property with good customer service, look elsewhere.
Closed to the sand, perfect!!!!
Nice place but some villas need better cleaning conditions
Excellent
This place was awesome and very affordable. I have visited Dominican Republic several times and this was my favorite hotel and I’m going back in April and I will be staying here
I reallybliked the hospitality. The pool could use a renovation. But it was still beautiful. It is close to the beach, monkey club etc. I am booked to go again.
Muy acogedor y tranquilo
Property not as advertised. Many abandoned houses around. Restaurants were not great. La florecita had rats walking by the table on the ledge while we were eating. Nice staff but ownership needs to invest in the property before it goes beyond repair. A lot of construction going on with many vehicles and workers in the streets. Definitely would not recommend going.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the condo. The standout feature was the exceptional service provided by the employees – their attentiveness and friendliness truly enhanced my experience. The tranquil atmosphere added a sense of calm to my stay, making it a perfect retreat. Additionally, having on-site restaurants was a convenient and delightful perk. Overall, a highly recommended place for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
I will recommend this hotel to any and everyone the only problem is that they need big blankets for it can be very cold at night in the rooms but other than freezing and leaving with a cold we loved it and will be back

Very nice location Rafael was very helpful
