Large clean room, friendly staff, good location, large and varied breakfast

Comfortable stay but can be better

Receptionist and breakfast crew were friendly and helpful. Do take note that hotel rooms doesn't have fridge nor kettle. Also, beds and pillows are very soft which might not be suitable for some people.

A little misleading on location compared to downtown - one of the longer walks in the area to get to the downtown. Great staff and clean - good value.

Quiet, cozy hotel great value

We stayed 2 nights and we highly recommend. Excellent rooms, short walk to all Zermatt attractions and downtown without the noise and crowds of the main streets. It feels like a family-run hotel. Staff are so kind, breakfast has good variety. You won’t regret staying here.

We’ve been travelling to many places around the world and I could say that Hotel Phoenix in Zermatt is one the best hotels we’ve stayed in, with the most amazing breakfast included in the price of the room, friendly, welcoming and helpful staff!!! I would give it 7 out of 5 stars if possible!!! Love it❤️❤️❤️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nice stay in Zermatt

Jolander from the hotel had helped to make this trip perfect for us. Our train to Zermatt was delayed and it would pass the hotel check in window and we would miss the taxi to go to the hotel. Jolander had helped us secure the taxi so that we could safely get to the hotel from the train station and she waited for us to do our check in. Jolander was also very kind to provide us with details and maps on how to get to the attractions. The hotel is within easy walking distance from the centre of the city. The room is nicely set up for travellers and we had a veranda that we could sit and enjoyed our tea. Varieties of food offered for breakfast was not a lot but it is more than sufficient for us. I was really impressed with the cheese table and the selection of cheeses. The restaurant manager had done a great job to make sure all guests would have a right spot to enjoy breakfast. The boiled egg was also perfect that it was hot and yolk was still soft. Perfect for me. Probably the only thing I could ask for more was the bathroom. The shower space was really tiny and I had to be careful not to bump onto the glasses. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience.

It’s ok

What a lovely place to stay during our family ski vacation. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The staff was kind and helpful in every respect. They gave good inside information on snow conditions and skiing options. Also provided list of dining recommendations. Highly recommend staying here!!

Great stay

Brilliant property and walking distance from Train station. The staff are amazing and friendly. Breakfast is the best I have seen for long time. Couldn’t recommend this hotel higher.

Super Helpful Staff

Best Breakfast in my 2 weeks travel. The lady at the front desk is very super helpful (I am not expecting this). She let us store our luggage at their their storage room even if we already checked out. It eases our hiking that morning for not carrying heavy backpacks. She also showed us the live weather condition up in the mountains.

Property is new and very clean. Staff was friendly but unable to support in a relatively simple situation. An early train departure forced us to leave before breakfast (included in the cost of the booking) and the hotel staff was unable to provide us even with a couple pieces of fruit that was already setup in the dining area. It was a nice stay but for the price of accommodations you’d expect a bit better customer service.

We were charged 20chf for a lost room key card but never gave us a replacement.we were never told during check in that there is a cost for lost key card!

Property was nice but getting there requiring uphill climbing;) difficult. It was no trash can in lobby area. More like they wanted to control everything like landlords, didn’t feel like a hotel. Family owned hotels can be like this. So if you like to have freedom not a great property. We paid for the panoramic room most expensive one, we got different room, she said this is the same but picture was saying different! Breakfast was ok not so much variety but that wasn’t an issue for us. I would personally recommend book a hotel more in the heart of activity and less walk from station.

Great location. Only a 7-8 minute walk from the train station. Nice clean rooms. Lovely breakfast selection. Very kind and pleasant staff.

Convenient and comfortable.

Everything was great. No USB ports however which is unfortunately common in European hotels. That is my only complaint. Good place to stay a short 5 minutes from train station. You can walk to any of the sites. I will stay here again next time in Zurich.

Wonderful place to stay. Close to train station (10 minutes). Very nice breakfast. Our room was upgraded to a terrace suite. Very roomy. Helpful friendly staff. We would stay here again.

It was OK.

The reception was normal only, friendliness was so so.. they dont even offer to pick up guests with heavy luggages or drop them off at the station..

The amenities were great: wonderful responsible of the hotel. Authentic chalet feeling, nice decoration, great breakfast. The couple in charge are very knowledgeable of Zermatt and take the time to give you ideas of where to eat, where to go, what to do. We were struggling to certify our CDC vaccination card and they informed us of the place to do it. SF6 and 5 minutes and we got our QR valid for one year!!!We had the great round room with the view of the Matterhorn and didn't stop enjoying it. Thank you for making our stay perfect.

Clean rooms, efficient check in, very good breakfast. Price on the high side, but Zermatt is expensive. Would recommend. Easy walk to train and to gondola's for hiking. August is a great time to visit.

Best Stay Ever in Zermatt

My stay was amazing. The hotel staff is super friendly and helpful. The breakfast was superb. We could choose the evening before what we wanted and they prepared a buffet just for us on our table. The hotel location is close to bus stop and lift.

Would Stay Again

My husband and I stayed here for a ski vacation in Zermatt. The staff were above and beyond in terms of friendliness and helpfulness. Breakfast and the hotel itself were great. Location of the hotel was great - it was a little off the beaten path so had a quiet location. Quick 3-5 minute walk to the ski lift and to the main road of shops, restaurants, etc.

Our experience at Phoenix was as expected, GREAT! The staff was very nice and the place was very clean (very important). This place deserves more than three stars.

Too much noise from property across the street. Everything else was good, especially the staff.

Fabulous place, great location. Loved the room and the breakfast. Everyone was very nice and on the last day, they allowed us to leave bags, go ski and come back and shower making our last day a full ski day. We would definitely stay here again.

The best breakfast selection we had in Switzerland! Terrific location and friendly staff

The property is nice and friendly and for us ideally located away from the buzzing centre. Breakfast was great too and the team very friendly. The room display in Expedia though showed that the deluxe room with view in Matterhorn has this half roundish patio with great views which our room didn’t have. When asking we were told that there are two trypes of deluxe rooms. This wasn’t clear upon making the reservation which was a bit sad as the panoramic glass patio was one of the reasons we selected that room type. But apart from that it was great !

The room is spacious and very clean. Location is good is on the hill with very nice moutain view. However, how sitting arrangement for breakfast is very strange; it is a prearranged sitting. This is my 9th trip to Europe, never once that sitting for breakfast is not free sitting. Our stiiting has been prearranged for our family along other chinese groups to be in a far backncorner. We were not allowed to sit at the tables by the glass wall and with a very nice view (when no one sitting there). An hour later, I noticed that when European guests came in they seem to be able to be sitting anywhere they want. In addition, warm proteins dish available for breakfast were not very generous, I felt like I tstayed at a college dormitory than a 3 stars hotel. So this is the reason why I rated this hotel 3 of 5, and I would recommend travellers stay elsewhere especially Asians.

Perfect location, close to train station and beautiful view of Matterhorn

Great hotel with balcony view

Great hotel for the price. My mom didn’t like walking up the short hill to get there but it didn’t bother me. Had a great view of the Matterhorn. My only complaint is the crane that blocked the vista intermittently but it wasn’t constant. Overall a great pick for pricey Zermatt. Oh and don’t ask for restaurant recs. They sent us to an over-priced mediocre place where they made ‘reservations’ with no one else there (meaning they probably get kick-backs).

It was fine.

They gave us a free upgrade but since we were put on the first floor, they were vacuuming at 6:30a which woke us up. Also, there didn't appear to be any way to adjust your own temperature in the room so it was quite toasty. Lastly, there is a bunch of construction happening over that way right now so our view of Matterhorn was obstructed.

Absolutely lovely

The Phoenix was stunning. So quiet and peaceful at night and lovely to sit out on the patio watching the sunset over the mountains. The breakfast was fantastic with so many cheeses to choose from along with everything else. Wish we could have stayed longer

One of Zermatt's Best

Our stay here was very pleasant! The owners and staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was excellent and just what we needed to start our day. Our room had a lovely balcony and was very comfortable and clean. We would recommend the Phoenix to everyone.

Love the room

The hote itself was great and quite new. Large bathroom. We can see Matterhorn from our balcony. Note that there’s construction nearby with large crane on site.

Well appointed, less fussy than most. Nice balcony really comfortable bed duvet and pillow. Really fabulous breakfast. A great choice.

Nice view of the Matterhorn from our room. Walking distance to the train station and main lifts up the mountains. Be warned that there is a lot of construction in the area around the hotel. Cranes everywhere. Don't plan on sleeping in because work start early around 7:30-8 and it gets very noisy.

Fine one night stop-over

Just a quick, one night stop-over in Zermatt. Room was fantastic with great views and didn't have any problems. Felt it was a little over-priced but I suspect that it's normal for Zermatt.

Lovely hotel

Lovely hotel. We had a room with a view of the Matterhorn. Spacious, with comfortable bed. Fabulous breakfast in a beautiful room. A little outside of the busy downtown, which we thought was a good thing. Very friendly owners.

Great place and staff, would have been great view if it wasn't cloudy, town easy walk from hotel

This is a tough hotel to give a fair review but I will try. The Phoenix hotel is beautiful, big glass windows in the room, nice bedding and the breakfast is great. What makes this receive lower stars is that I felt somewhat deceived - they didn’t tell us that there was construction DIRECTLY beside our window. We are talking cement jack hammering starting at 7 am and going all day long. I had a headache from the noise. I asked to be moved to another room and they suggested I pay them MORE because it had a better view. They were not apologetic at all, instead defensive that it wasn’t their construction. Disclosing this would have been better. We chose to stay 2 more nights because of the vacancy level of other hotels. We misplaced a key card and they were happy to charge us $10 euros for it. Had it been my hotel, I would have been empathetic to the construction noise and waived the key card fee. Would I stay there again, probably not. I felt they were more concerned about their profit than anything else.

Lovely hotel with an excellent front desk staff. Loved seeing the Matterhorn from our balcony and watching the sheep across the way after a long day hiking. Very good breakfast included. Spacious room and bathroom.

Very nice hotel

Super clean , excellent breakfast, comfort bedding, staff David is extremely nice N helpful. Would been perfect if the hotel provided shuttle service from to the station. It's not far , short walking distance , but we had to get a taxi due to the rain . Over all this is a super nice hotel.

Cozy hotel

It was very cozy hotel. Also all the staffs are very helpful, especially David at the Front desk. He was very kind. Every morning they served us breakfast, it was very simple but tasty, especially croissant was the Best !!!

We chose the Hotel Phoenix based on the excellent reviews we read on Trip Advisor and Travelocity. The reviews were correct. This place was everything everyone said it was. Our view of the Matterhorn off the balcony was wonderful. The rooms are spacious and immaculately cleaned as is the whole hotel. The owners are very friendly and helpful and were anxious to help us with all of our questions about how to navigate Zermatt and the surrounding area. The breakfast they serve is first class. With more selections than anyone could want. We couldn't be happier with our stay. Thank you Hotel Phoenix....Martin and Jennifer

It was fine. I couldn't get in the other hotels I would prefer more. I wanted a unobstructed view and requested a high floor, 4 months before I got there and was given the bottom floor. The staff is okay.
