This property is very unique from other properties in the area. It’s further away from the main part of town but it’s nice and secluded near the viewpoints. It’s quite a bit of walking and climbing stairs.
Great property and staff but those stairs going up aren’t cute.
Great property for people who love great views and a lot less noisy than down in the village.however if you don’t like stairs you may want to avoid this one. Otherwise a great place for o stay
Beautiful views. Outstanding service. Lovely accommodation
Poor customer service/horrible attitude!
I walked out at Check in! The hotel front desk staff was so rude to me - I left. Horrible attitude. Ruined my experience at Phi Phi
180 stair steps are a hassle, pathetic shower
This hotel was disappointing. I was hoping for a luxury hotel with a breathtaking view. We stayed in the D400 group of rooms, very high up. The view was not very interesting, but it did mean we had to climb the 110 steps up from town to the hotel, and then another 70 to our room, every time we wanted to go to our room. The climb was bearable, at least when we weren't carrying the suitcase. But I'd have to say the worst part of our experience was the shower. It producted barely enough water to wash off soap. Overall, it was not worth the money. I also stayed at Phi Phi The Beach Resort, which was much nicer and offered us rides up to our view room, any time we wanted.
The design, cleanliness and atmosphere of the room and property are not as advertised. Stained and dirty sheets, wifi inoperable, several people who showed up couldn’t believe the hike you had to take to even get to the property. FYI, it’s exhausting. It’s overpriced in my opinion and I would not recommend this property. A complete and total scam.
The staff are so friendly and helpful however the room is very dirty, had hairs in the bed and tiny bugs everywhere the water was yellow from the shower and taps, good location though for the view points of phi phi.
Porperty was perfect, we got the perfect view of the entire island. The only word of caution I would give is that its pretty high up the hill, so wise to be in decent shape. They have a guy at the pier with the hotels sign that will take all your luggage up (which is amazing because it would have been even harder with luggage.) When you get to the spot of the hotel before you have to start walking up, there will be other porters (helpers) there to take your luggage up. Good Breakfast, aircon was nice. Went with about 5 friends on holiday, waking up to the view off your balcony of this hotel is amazing.
A great stay
Would recommend.
It's a pretty nice place. I was quite happy with the apartment and service.
Prior to booking this room I had no expectation but in the end I am really glad I was able to stay here. I booked a deluxe room w/ sea view (this is worth it). When you arrive to the island, there will be someone from this hotel there holding a sign to bring you to their hotel. Keep in mind that this hotel is really high up in the mountain, to get there you have to walk and climb the steps (800 or so steps), and that is why they send someone there to carry your luggage up and all you have to do is CARRY YOURSElf. Once up to my room and out of breathe, beware of the mosquitoes bc well... you’re surrounded by trees and water , it’s common so bring mos. repellent. Every morning waking up here was beautiful, and the steps keep me healthy (I was actually surprise I made it up the other night drunk from the beach party nearby -10 mins walk ) A really good thing is that this place is 2/3 the way from the island “view point” where you can see the whole island, so if you hike up view point you can stop by your room for a water break and continue. I like the fact that I was easily able to hike up to view point from my room for sunrise and it was so much less effort, people who I saw hiking up from the starting point were out of breathe. Over all , I really do like this place, beautiful view, hot water, clean room, cool ac , and free cardio. :)
Staff are the best, really nice and friendly and nothing was too much for them.
Great views, a little out of the way. Facilities were ok.
Aircon for the room was down. Took more than 30 mins to troubleshoot before we had to switch to another room. The other room had dusty floor which needs to be wiped. During checking out on 26 Mar, the lady at the reception advised us to depart at 1pm for the 2pm ferry. When we returned to collect our bags after lunch, she told us we need to pay someone to carry the bags as the porter for the resort had left at 12.45pm. We would have return at 12.45 if this was made known. Good view of the bays as it is almost halfway to the viewpoint. Porter available when we arrived at the pier as it is a 15mins walk and up a flight of long stairs.
So many steps. Everyday we go two or three times more than 250 steps to our room.
View was spectacular. Room was disappointing. Not very attractive and clean. The air condition was never able to get super cold.
Cheap and very basic.
The location is not very convenient at all. To get to the hotel one has to walk up towards the lookout point up a very long snd steep set of stairs. Fortunately, they have staff to carry your bags for this. The rooms are very basic, the bed was not very comfortable and the shower presssure was very low, even with the tap turned to full. There is an outdoor nightclub nearby that plays very loud music which can be heard in the rooms until late at night and will disturb all but the heaviest of sleepers. The hotel wifi does not work for n the rooms are all. The price per night was quite cheap, but the adage ‘you get what you pay for’ is certainly accurate in this instance. I only spent one night at this hotel and would not stay there again.
Beautiful property at the end of the beach. Excellent staff, food and surroundings.
Disgusting. A hostel would've been better.
I have never stayed at a place so filthy as this one. Bathroom had black mold all around and bugs everywhere. Rooms where dirty and nasty. The only good thing to say was the view from the room. A hotel would've been 100 times better!!
Overall great
I found 2 cockroaches and a bit dust there but the others were clean. In the morning, the family of monkey came to say 'morning', they're so nice. Overall great
Great stay in Phi Phi
Lovely hotel, staff are very friendly. Great views from the room - worth the climb up all the steps! Would stay again.
Stairway to Heaven
I loved this place, for everything including Staff and Views Unfortunately the place was not clean on our arrival, and we had to complain at reception The owner was unavailable because they live in Bangkok, they leave the staff in charge. After some pressure the Receptionist, who did a really great job of getting the rooms cleaned to a good standard then faced the problem of the water turning Black, but she did well to help recover this and did a great job overall Be warned there are a lot of steps to climb to get to the hotel, over 100
Stay away
Bad experience altogether. 300 steep steps to get to the room, my mother almost died every time we returned to the room. Also, once you get there they let you know checkout is 7am- absurd. Breakfast was horrible, no healthy options, taste was bad. Also they helped us get the bags up the mountain to the room, but then leaving they asked us to wait 30 minutes for someone to be available to help take our bags back down the 300 steps. The room took forever to get cool- old air conditioning.
Decent hotel with view.
We chose this hotel as we didn’t want to hear the music on phi phi until 2 am. Unfortunately you can still hear a faint beat. But with the ac on and ear plugs it was ok. It’s a bit of a hike from the pier but not nearly as bad as some reviews make it sound.
Great location, stunning view, friendly staff
We stayed for 7 nights and everything was great. Location was excellent (away from the noise) room was clean, air conditioned with a balcony and a stunning view. One thing to consider is that there are a few steps to climb to get to the hotel, so if for any reason that would be a problem then maybe consider another place to stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was also good, there was plenty of choice. One not so great thing was that WiFi was available only in the lobby and tv was fuzzy, but that’s not why you go to phi phi, right We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back.
Beds are full od bed bugs...
View was nice but the breakfast was aweful
Everything was good i recomend!
Not a nice hotel but view quite nice
Not a very nice hotel
Happy
Amazing view from hotel, alot of steps to get to it though, very hard on a hot day. Staff were really nice and friendly couldnt do enough for you. Shower wasnt overly warm. Monkeys jump on the roof in a morning which we thought was pretty cool to watch but obviously not for everyone.
Nice view of island but rooms little outdated.
This hotel is pretty out dated but is cheap and cheerful, so get what you pay for. The hotel is situated at the top of a hill, pretty much at the view point on the island, so it has a great view but wouldn't recommend if you struggle with steps.
Love the location, spectacular views! Service was great, Bo is the friendliest lady ever ! Phi phi is a wonderful beautiful island, I would absolutely come back.
wonderful views!!
Very nice hotel for the price. you have to climb a lot of steps to get up to it, so if you're not physically fit it may not be the best choice for you. we couldn't get wifi in our room, but it worked in the lobby. the staff was very pleasant and very helpful.
Great Views and Amazing Staff
Stayed here for three guys and have have no complaints. Room is clean, and tidy with minibar which is reasonably priced. Staff on arrival are great, and amazing throughout, polite and attentive. Hotel has a lot of stairs, around 100 and can be steep at times, however it when you reached the hotel the views are amazing. Would recommend to all and would return.
Nice hotel but terrible staff and customer service
If you're the owner and reading this, change your front desk staff asap please. The lady was very rude to us and on the day of check out she sent staff to go and barge into our rooms without knocking at 9am!!! My sister was changing and a male staff just walked in. Instead of apologizing and running out, the first thing he did is pointed to my sister a sign saying check out check out. Even on the first day, there was no one to receive us from the pier. We hauled our luggage all the way. That same lady in the front just blamed me for not seeing them instead of apologizing first. She didn't even know the way to the beach and pointed me to where the pier was whereas the beach was only a less than 10min walk..
Above It All
Beautiful views from our balcony and reception area. The room was a little small and the bathroom needs updating. Would recommend, but feel the Aboreal Resort could use a little sprucing up.
Amazing view
The hotel is situated on hilltop close to one of the viewpoints and you can see the northern bay and southern bay from your balcony. The view is breathtaking and my panorama shot will not capture that. They have staff helping you to carry your luggage up to the hotel from the pier. No complaints from me.
be in shape - LOTS of stairs
Considering this Island has no motorized transportation, the service for this hotel was great - they met us at the pier, hauled our suitcases to the street by the hotel and then the staff hauled them up the 160 stairs to out hotel room for us as well as down back to the pier when we checked out - beautiful view from our balcony of both beaches but waayyyy toooo many stairs to do a few times each day especially in the afternoon when it is incredibly hot out. A great experience with the visiting monkeys on the balcony around dinner time - really neat as they visit right on the balcony but can be aggressive too - be aware - the rooms appear quite old hence the bathrooms could be updated - smelly old grout around the tiles in bathroom - not very fresh at all - beautiful view though and had great coffee maker, etc in the room so you can enjoy your morning coffee right from the balcony.
Amazing view
All is good. The stairs are barable for 2 days stay, for more than that you will start to hate going up. Otherwise the view is amazing, you see the entire island. The music is really loud all over the island in the evening till 3. Get a sound proofed room otherwise most hotels will be like that. We brought ear bids so that have done the job for us Staff was great.
Excellent view,people,room,food....
Grate Holiday in general Nice peaceful place with grate view and helpful honest people delicious food and touch with nature.
BED BUGS AND DISGUSTING ROOM
The mattress looked disgusting and the room looked nothing like the photos, found a used q-tip under the sink so it seemed like it wasn't cleaned thoroughly, boyfriend and I both got violently sick from awful bed bug bites and ruined the rest of our vacation. NOT WORTH STAYING AT.
Solo backpacking Trip
Everything is amazing about this resort besides the stairs to get back to your room. It is on a mountain so you must be fit it can be tricky if you plan to party and drink I was out of breathe walking back at 3am. Rooms are clean nice and up to date. The staff will carry your luggage just make sure to tip them you'll understand why when you check in. Great resorts though with views of the whole island
Great staff and the best view on the island
Yes there are stairs. But they are totally manageable. The payoff is an amazing sanctuary above the action on Phi Phi. You get a breeze and a view of the entire island. The staff was impeccable, carrying your luggage up the stairs like sherpas and greeting you at the top with a chilled juice and cold towel. Chris, our concierge was fabulous and went out of his way to make sure our stay was perfect. Monkeys playing on our balcony was our morning entertainment. Great experience.
Average
The only way to get to the property is to climb about a 100 steps from the street in the way to the phi phi view point. Not convenient for older people. The staff is friendly and the food at the restaurant is good. But the rooms could be in a better condition. The bath area had water blockage and no locks on the inside.
Good quality, very good view, excellent staff.
Those who complain about the stairs should go to a sanatorium instead of the Phi Phi Islands. Too bad there is no internet in the rooms, but it's understandable that it's complicated technically to implement on a side of a mountain. I give it 5 stars - very helpful and friendly staff, really nice view, clean rooms.
View was good after 200 steps
Power cuts in and out, bathrooms are filthy, no WiFi in any rooms , 200 steps to get from the beach to your room, food is horrible and the staff charged us for a towel for no reason...so I wouldn't recommend staying here unless u wanna see viewpoint ...
Great views and great staff :) sadly very hard bed
Great location amazing views fantastic staff stairs are not that bad but me and my partner and pretty fit the bed was very hard and the breakfast was very average but other wise we would book again as the views are incredible :)
Facilities Sub-Par
The one and only good aspect of this resort was the view from the lobby and our room. It was spectacular. Aside from that this resort needs HUGE renovations. Very very run down. Its built on the side of the cliff so theres rooms spread out all over the place, no real organization. Climbing the stairs to get to the resort alone almost kills you. There is also no wifi in the rooms - which they really need to update as walking to the lobby to get signal is impractical for a resort now a days. Would not recommend to future travellers. There is MUCH better on the island.
Good, not great
The hotel was good and the staff were nice apart from when they tried to charge us extra because a towel got dirty. A towel will always get dirty, get over it. In the end they didn't charge us. Also there is a long staircase to the hotel which can get quite tiring to get to. Also you can only use wifi in the lobby which can be quite annoying. Apart from that it was a nice hotel and a good price. If you want to be closer to the beach or you are lazy however this hotel is not for you. When I say climbing the stairs is a mission it is definitely a mission!!
Nice hotel
We stayed 2 nights in the premium double room with balcony - the room was nice and view was worth the climb to the room! Very near the viewpoint
mountain goat
a lot of stairs to get to room but porters are waiting to carry your bags. don't forget to tip them. views amazing food excellent room OK but a bit small. staff fantastic
Great view
Great view with very helpful staff. The staff was willing to help you in any way. Beautiful view but yes 200 stairs. Very close to the vista view point of the island. Really enjoyed watching the monkeys in the tree's near by also. Very beautiful location of the whole island.
Nice View but for a price!
Too many steps ti climb everyday (>150!) under 35 degres - not worth the view once you are there. And too hotdue to exposure where main window is 100% exposed to sun all afternoon (even with AC at full power exterior would be better). On a positive note, staff was nice and room was clean but we were surprised that nobody had mentionned issue with location of hotel...
Decent hotel, good view
It is a bit of a hike up stairs but honestly not that bad if you're completely out of shape. This is an all walking island so if you can't walk some stairs maybe don't come to this island. Room was big and clean, no wifi in room only lobby. Ate lunch here and it was such small portions, even for Thailand. Overall good for the money
Very enjoyable stay
I really enjoyed this place. It was in a great location and up a few steps so it had an amazing view. It was close to everything but also a safe distance away from the beach teeny boppers. Very relaxing. The room was more than adequate. Food was good and the veranda is a great place to hang out and have a drink before you hit the town. Great value for money. The hotel receptionist was also really nice and welcoming.
Disappointing - would not recommend
Very disappointed with this resort. Does not appear as it looks in the photos and I believe the rating it received was too high. First let me start by saying that the hotel is at the top of a long steep set of stairs that you need to go up/down every time you leave the hotel. They are very steep and not the easiest to walk up/down. In addition the room was less than impressive. Did not feel clean and the bathroom was not very nice. Definitely not worth what we paid for. I would not recommend this hotel. The only upside to the hotel is the view (assuming you get one facing the right way) but there is currently a lot of construction on the island, so even the nice view is obstructed.
Great views but room in need of renovation.
Up many steps so not suitable for unfit people. Very hot as sun streams into resort all afternoon. Room in need of renovation. Bathroom older and mouldy. Drains blocked.
Manager was nasty and tried to overcharge us
I booked two nights by mistake and understood that we could not get a credit, in returned we asked if we can check out at a later time 2:00 PM versus 11:AM, the manager agreed and the next day tried to overcharge us and threw us out when we disagree with paying extra. She was very nasty to us. There was a lady in the staff that was trying to assist us and she was also screamed at and humiliated. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO STAY THERE.
a good walk from the pier + lots of steps to climb
site was under a lot of constuction.. but the view was amazing and room was ok..close walk to everything..but lots of steps to climb but that what gives the view... they help you with your bags otherwise that would be torture to climb the steps with your bags...overall good.. but rustic
Very Bad money for value
Hi All, 1st thing I want to mention is that the picture you see with the view from the Hotel is not real, that pic has been taken from the view point and the Hotel uses it to advert the Hotel. 2nd the 100 stairs is not a big deal, you can definitely do it without too much effort, what really matters is that the hotel is not clean, sheets are dirty, the personnel speak a poor English and won't solve any issue using the excuse that he Manager is not there. The room is tiny, you can't open the window because of mosquitos and monkeys and that makes the room inredibly warm and wet (humidity is very high on the island).. Really hard to sleep at night.. I am used to leave comments on Trip Advisor but I wanted this time cause the service was really poor and for the same money you find amazing hotels on the beach.. Don't get trapped with the view of the Hotel that they advert, those pics haven't been taken from the Hotel.
Recommended if...
Took us quite a while to find this resort as it was not in the street map. Not recommended if you are carrying bulky bags as it is situated mid way to the view point. Nevertheless, friendly staff and clean rooms. Value for money.
Nice hotel up a long flight of stairs.
Not bad. Yes there are a lot of stairs. View is incredible. Shower was right next to toilet with no barier between the two.
Not deserving of 4 stars but good views
A 4 star hotel on the top of a hill set high expectations, and sadly disappointed. The wifi didn't work our entire stay, which I understand can be an island issue, but the staff was unable to communicate anything to us about it. And us them, because we couldn't translate without wifi. The room was small and came with dirty linens and walls, and we encountered a very unpleasant strong perfume odor upon arrival, which was also a bad sign. Lots of moths and bugs in the bathroom. Be warned you will climb 200+ steps to get to this hotel, but the bag porters are incredibly strong and impressive. Other pluses of the hotel include the gorgeous view from the lobby and hopefully your room. And you are very close to the famous Phi Phi Viewpoint.
Hike with a good view
It is a 5 min hike up the stairs so it is definitely not made for someone who is out of shape or has many heavy bags. I did love the location though. Staff was great. Rooms ac was so so, the room was still fairly warm with the ac turned on.
Bleh
be prepared for an uphill climb. Wifi is too slow works only in the lobby. Room is so so. Wouldn't stay again.
View worth the effort
Stayed in deluxe room, 30 year old couple. Yes, there are quite a few stairs but worth it in my opinion. View from our room was amazing, and you're already halfway to the viewpoint. Also, away from the madness of the beach scene and with all the stairs you won't have wild drunken neighbors all over!Much more $$ than budget places on phi phi bit would def stay again
Very high on mountains have to climb a lot to reac
Bad location not good cooperative staff.... Worst breakfast
Nice view but prepare to sweat on way to room
Nice place to stay if you like mountain climbing in 35 degrees Celsius! Nice friendly staff though compared to other places in phi phi and lovely view from the room
Loved the view
Loved the view but you have to be in shape to stay here. Lots of steep stairs but once you are up there it's paradise. Nice lobby with a view to use the wifi as it doesn't work in the cabins. Cabins are adequate but not fancy. They provide the bare essentials. Be prepared for mosquitoes on the decks. Would I stay again? Yes but I would prepare my calves first.
Amazingn view
amazing view in the island, super friendly staff. Hotel is a bit far from the beach and there is quite a lot of stairs to get to your room, but totally worth it
Clean, spacious rooms, nice balcony. Skip b-fast.
Pretty clean, spacious rooms, nice balcony. Skip breakfast and go into town instead. Don't count on Wi-Fi, couldn't get on most of the time. Quiet enough for sleep. A bit pricey for what it is, but I think that it just how it goes in phi phi. A/c is a plus.
nice hotel on the hill
Hotel is up on the hill, but we got our baggage carried up and down by the hotel staff. The view is amazing from the room. Hotel staff very friendly.
Not the worst, not the best
The hotel is old and is not a top of the line hotel. However, the rooms were fairly clean and had air conditioning which was key. Also, the view is beautiful and it is in the center of the island, right by the main party area.
Great by Thai standards
A bit pricey compared to the rest of Thailand but so is Phi Phi. Really nice room though.
Phi phi island
Great location and view. Front desk staff had stiff attitude.
Quite a Hike!
Phi Phi Arboreal is on top of a mountain! Seriously you climb about 200 steps to reach this hotel. The view is quite stunning though. The room was underwhelming. We paid for a balcony and did not get a room with a balcony. Their was a sticky looking couch in the room and questionable stains on the bedding. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in and woke up with neck pain. The bathroom has a showerhead over the toilet, extremely cramped. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is average. If you are looking for a hotel that is far from the backpacker crowds, then I would recommend this location.
ok
They were still working on the hotel
Good
Good but pushy host
Perfect
it's not a high end resort and you pay for what you get, we expected shabby hilltop for the price we payed (basic room) but the room we had was beautiful and clean so we felt we struck gold. Only fault is that the receptionist kept making us feel guilty for not booking boats and tours through her but this wouldn't stop me staying again. FYI kitchenette is just a water boiler for your home cooked noodle pots!
Worst place in my travel
Beside a decent view, everything else was terrible. We paid top dollar for an upgrade room, but the room was dirty, everything was old, the staff was not helpful, and lack of supplies. Not to mention, the walk & the steps up to the hotel. We traveled everywhere this summer in Thailand for a full month and it was the worst room and the most expensive booking we made in our travel. First, they gave us a room 312, which is right next to the construction site and the AC was not working well. Then when we asked to switch room, they gave us a hard time. I had to ask to speak with a manager before they have us another room (112). The only person who was helpful was the manager. Then that same night we walked outside the balcony and the old sliding door somehow locked us out for almost an hour. I finally had to climb out on top of the roof to get some help after my girlfriend and I screamed for help, but no one showed up. The breakfast was the same every day, eggs, rice soup, and basic stuff. The supplies were limited. They only provided you with 1 middle size towel each, 1 roll of toilet paper, and limited outlets. It was so sad to be a mid or high end hotel. We were so disappointed with this hotel and will never go back there ever again, especially the price that we paid. So watch out!!
Felt like a zoo
The room we were in had critters in the walls that woke us up. There were also animals on the roof making noise. Other than that, the rooms were clean and spacious.
stairs!
The room was basic but was clean and overall perfect for what we were looking for and in relation to price paid. There was a lot of stairs, (231 to be precise to our room, but that was the compromise for the view at the top and a quiet night sleep. A member of staff met us at the port and happily carried our luggage the 15 minute walk to the hotel despite the heat. Great service!
Stayed here for 2 nights while on Phi Phi. Found accommodations to be very challenging on Phi Phi with many expensive options but few well priced middle of the road options. The location of the hotel was good - up and out of the busy district with minimal noise heard from the bars. Would only be a disturbance if you are a very light sleeper. The room was very basic with 2 beds, tv, a/c and coffee maker but clean enough. The bathroom was awkward - when the shower was used it flooded the floor and our toilet was leaking. These were addressed with management but no solution was found - we just dealt with it. Wifi was free in the lobby and worked well. Would expect this level of quality from a cheaper budget hotel but everything seems more expensive on Phi Phi. A 2 night stay was enough to see the island and sites.
Arboreal has stunning views but the treck to the hotel is not for faint hearted. The location of the hotel is perfect to get away from the party scene but close enough to be no more than a 5 minute walk from the bars. There are quite a number of stairs to climb to get to this hotel but worth it for the views of Phi Phi. The hotel was basic but clean and the staff always happy to help
Worst hotel ever, no service at all, dirty rooms, made alot of misstakes without any help.
Nightmare
Worst hotell dont book this crap guys!
1ere a koh phi phi…
Good hotel! Best Price! Good localization!
Very good hotel Well located. From this hotel you can Go walking 5 minutes to take the fast boat or Long Tails to Go Maya Bay, Bamboo Island, Pileh Lagoon, Vikings Cave, Monkey Island and other Phi Phi Islands. It is a good hotel, The price is better. IS located in the way to View Point.

I wish to wake up everyday with the view like there.
