Overall, this hotel is located in a great central area. My friends and I stayed in a room fit for four people. The only con was that the ladder to reach the top bunk was not comfortable on the feet. Other than that, this was a great budget, friendly option for Madrid.
Very nice
Pros: Great location in center of Madrid, walkable distance to all attractions, less than 1 mile away from Palace and Prado museums. Great attentive staff and reception. Outstanding breakfast m, totally worth the money!!! Cons: Outdated rooms, leaky shower cabin, some water damage, some decolorisation on the ceiling. Some of this is expected due to age of the historic building. But the use of space is pretty poor, I would put more furniture and seal shower cabin or install sliding door. Minor investment may easily turn these rooms into great place to stay. Overall we had a great time there if you do not mind minor inconveniences and spend most of the day running around the city. Plenty of space, just needs an update and replanning.
Excellent place to stayed in Madrid, very convenient, ityclose of everything.
Very close to Plaza Mayor. The only downside is that the alley below us was quite loud late into the night.
Breakfast was very nice. Lots of local dishes along with fresh fruit, juices, sweet rolls, meats, yogurt, a wonderful tortilla espanola, self serve coffee machine with tons of options. Staff was excellent.
Great 400 year old historic hotel (with Madrid Gold plate outside the door) in the heart of Madrid. There are hundreds of shopping and dining options just within 10 minutes radius. Great location if you like to stay near bustling area of Madrid. The property is old but well maintained. The breakfast is really amazing with a lot of options. Rooms are good size.
Very convenient location for explorating the old town.
Location & outside appearance
The hotel is very cozy and nice. It is extremely close to all of the attractions in the area and the major plaza. For being in the middle of things, you can’t get better. Our only complaint was thenoise. It is on several of the busiest streets in the area for walking, bars, and restaurants, and it is very loud. Bring earplugs!
Pros: 1. Outstanding location 2. Nice breakfast 3. Great customer service from staff 4. Nice sized rooms and good housekeeping in rooms. Cons 1. It has none of the amenities expected in a 4 star hotel. 2. The reception desk area is cluttered with boxes and miscellaneous stuff 3. While we were there, mattresses were stored in the hallway. 4. The carpets are worn with torn area near steps. No coffee or sugar in the rooms - must ask at desk. I would stay there again but only for the location - 50 meters from Plaza Mayor. The area around the hotel is fantastic day and night.
Only issue was the AC. Everything else is great!
The property was in a great location in the heart of old Madrid near many of the key tourist sights. The room was great and front desk staff were very helpful. In particular, Jon on the front desk provided great suggestions for must-see tourist sights, as well as entertainment options such as the best flamenco dancing show to attend.
The location is the best, near restaurants, food market and shopping Breakfast is good with several choices
Steps From Plaza Mayor. Breakfast is Great
Would stay again.
The room on the 4th floor was slanted on 1/2 the room. To walk around the beds, you had to duck down a bit. Otherwise it was good. Staff was helpful. Breakfast was good, too.great location.
The property is nice & the service was good. I only stayed for 2 nights. But, the area around La Plaza Mayor is crowded. A good center place near most places in Madrid.
Central area and easy walk through old town.
Amazing location. Friendly, professional staff. Good breakfast.
Everything
We spent a long weekend in Madrid and the hotel was very close to everything we wanted to see. It was a wonderful stay!
Great front desk staff. Thanks to Jon reception clerk.
Hotel is nice enough but getting long in the tooth and feels a bit worn out. I wouldn’t quite give it 4 stars, more like a 3 and 1/2. But it was comfortable enough. Breakfast was pretty good.
Nice hotel. Close to Metro area and many historical places. Plan to come back to stay here. Wonderful staff: James, Jon, Myriam, Jorge, Mari. Excellent breakfast choices. My only suggestion is for the hotel to invest in a bigger ice maker. Not a complaint, just a suggestion. We are definitely coming back.
This is a very nice hotel, is easy to go every where you want, delicious breakfast.
The room was such small. Bed for 4 people space 1 or 2, I really hate the glass door on the bathroom. Privacy isn’t an option
Excellent location, friendly personal, clean room and very good breakfast.
Great location, staff very nice Breakfast was very good!
Great location! Nice staff.
This is the oldest hotel in Spain. I had a great time staying here. It was convenient since it is only steps away from Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol. I will stay there next time.
We had a very enjoyable stay at Petit Palace Posada del Peine. It is conveniently located near Plaza Mayor, Mercado De San Miguel, and Sol. We got the unlimited transport cards, but didn't really need them because we were able to walk almost everywhere that we wanted to go.
Shower door was not working. Not well maintained.
This property is in the central of the Plaza. Breakfast / brunch is amazing you have eggs, omelet, toast French bread (gluten just ask), cereal milk (non lactose) sumo (juice) Apple, melon, orange, watermelon and two more we didn’t try. Fresh tomato and cheese salads with peppers. Cold cut meats and cheese and coffee. My stay was amazing.
We loved the location of this hotel. So close to everything we wanted to see. The staff were very friendly and we loved learning about the history of the hotel. Will definitely recommend to others.
Excellent service
Loved my stay! It was right on the spot where you want to be! Service was amazing and staff soo friendly. I highly recommend it and also the restaurant Chiquita in front of the hotel has amazing paellas.
It’s nearby walking to all main places in Madrid downtown. Different to all conventional American style hotels, original. Staff excellent. Not much of restaurant service because they only have a dinner for breakfast. Breakfast the typical Spanish breakfast ! Pretty good but nothing special. For the price of lodging and breakfast was excellent ! There are many good restaurants around, but you may find out about some other less oriented for tourists, perhaps more pricey but Spanish cuisine is always great ! The bed and bathroom very good conditions ! Be careful that the bathroom floor is slippery !
A perfect hotel and location. Would highly recommend.
Stayed one night. The hotel was in a very nice location right next to Plaza de Mayor, and surrounded by restaurants and shops. The hotel staff were very nice and very helpful.
Perfect place to stay in the heart of Madrid!
perfect location
The property was located in a very convenient location. The room was smaller, but perfect for us because we did not intend to be in the room very much at all other than to sleep. The staff always greeted us with a smile and were helpful.
Perfect
Perfect location to explore Madrid on foot. Quiet despite being right in the center of the city. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Location can't get much better than this!
Modern hotel a few yards from Plaza Major and in the heart of old Madrid. An easy walk to the major tourist atteactions.Helpful and friendly staff, spacious rooms and confirtable bed. we woukd recommevd ut to abyo e lookung to stsy in central Madrid
Great location
The staff on front desk could not have been more helpful. They looked after us very well. After submitting an internal review of the check in procedure, we said that the room was not what we expected in a four star hotel. So, they kindly agreed to move us to a larger room. We declined as we were only there for one more night. The biggest problem we faced with limited mobility was that the parking was difficult to access as it involved stairs and it was not permitted for a taxi or our car to get to the front door of the hotel. The situation of the hotel is wonderful being so close to the Plaza Mayor. We are surprised that the hotel is ranked as being four stars.
Excellent hotel and location
It’s a very nice place to stay, you have everything you need close by, walking distance!
Nothing special. Seems like 3 stars not 4,
No cumplen
Pague habitqcion con desayuno y no me dieron desayuno. Me Hicieron pagar teniendolo ya pagado e incluido. Habitacion con mal aislamiento. Se escuchan los baños, pasos etc de otras habitaciones.
Our stay was just perfect! The room was lovely and super clean, the bed very comfortable, breakfast was delicious, location is brilliant and service from Joana was exceptional. We will be returning after a brief stay in Valencia in 4 days. I highly recommend this property, which is the oldest hotel in Madrid. 5 stars all the way!
The Posada del Peine hotel was perfect for visiting Madrid. I had not been to Madrid before and was not sure where to book- fortunately this was awesome! The hotel is in the heart of shops and restaurants, a block from the Plaza Major, and walking distance to the Royal Palace, the Prado Museum, and subway. We loved it. The staff were super friendly and helpful. We had their breakfast buffet which was super tasty and had a lot of variety. We learned that this is the oldest hotel in Spain! It's not a super fancy new hotel so the rooms are a bit older, but they were comfortable and had all we needed. Nights were a bit loud in the sector but when we closed our curtains, all was quiet. We highly recommend it!
Our second visit to this historic hotel. The rooms are nice, bed is comfy. The location is perfect. Very walkable.
Centrally located adjacent to plaza se major. Maybe next year as well.
We stayed on the hotel for 5 nights , then left to Toledo for a night and came back. Used 2 different rooms. Both were good. Clean, comfortable and roomy. Breakfast was good. Great location!
Very goid hitel near Plazz Mayor and Plaza del Sol. Good breakfast. Friendly stuff. We left for a night to Toledo, left our stuff with them and when checked in next day all our bags were already in a new room accurately waiting for us. We will definitely come back
When we arrived we were greated by Jon. Super friendly and very helpful. He provided us a map and detailed places for us to check out. The hotel is cute. The location is amazing. You can walk many places. The metro is a short walk for further voyages. The room was nice although tiny. Its a vacation so we just slept so no biggie. The shower was wonderful with a rain shower head plus a body blast and a hand wand. The bathroom wall is glass as well as the bathroom door. Wasn't my favorite hotel feature. Lack of privacy so if youre bathroom shy it might not be great. Overall we really enjoyed the hotel. Would definitely stay again if we find ourselves in Madrid again.
Perfect place to stay in downtown Madrid
What a great location!
Very friendly staff. Great location. We had two issues with our room that made it less than a great stay. The air conditioner didn’t work making the room extremely hot. The toilet stopped working during our stay.
No air conditioning during our stay so the room was really hot. Bathroom door would not close and it looked like there was mold in the shower.
Great little charming hotel in the middle of it all!! A few steps from Plaza Mayor, lots of fun shopping and great breakfast. Very pleased with the staff and how helpful they were for someone that has never been to Madrid!
Simple accommodations, buy everything we needed for an amazing home base for this trip to Madrid. Simply unbeatable location - walkable to everything we wanted to see. Great recommendations from front desk staff and great breakfast buffet with friendly service.
Best hotel near Plaza Mayor
This is our hotel when we visit Madrid. The best location, close and walking distance to all attractions, restaurants, pubs, metro and stores. The hotel is great and provides a place where to relax. Also has a really good breakfast. The employees from reception, breakfast and rooms are really friendly!
Good location
Great hotel, helpful and friendly staff. Jon and James were great. Good size room with balcony. A little noisy from the outside but hotel has no control over that. Would stay again.
We stayed here for 4 nights, loved it. Very clean and quiet. The breakfast that was included was excellent. Situated in the middle of shopping and lots of events to go see, all in walking distance. At the front desk, Jon was especially helpful and easy to talk to, so were most of the front desk staff.
We stayed at the Petit Palace Posada for 4 nights. The staff was wonderful and the room was very clean and comfortable. However, it is located in a very busy area - which makes it fun and convenient for touring Madrid but extremely noisy. Our room, #117 had a cafe with outdoor seating located directly outside the window. Between that and the other traffic it was unbelievably loud - especially on the weekend. If not for that we would definitely recommend staying here.
Bathrooms need a little tlc. They need to get better towels. Room was very hot. I went to ask to check it out and nobody came.
Such a special hotel in the heart of old town Madrid just steps from Plaza Mayor! The staff are all so friendly and accommodating, and this historic hotel has all the conveniences. Highly recommended!
Property was centrally located within walking distance of all major attractions. Staff was friendly. Place was very clean and breakfast was good. Could use a few extra items such as pancakes. Room had a small balcony which we opened for fresh air and sounds of the city. Beds were very comfortable. Tons of bars and restaurants conveniently right outside your door Yet if you closed the window it was quiet. We had room 408 at the end of the hallway so no other people ever walked by. Hotel is a few hundred years old but had modern amenities like a shower with three different heads and flat screen tv. Overall it was an excellent stay and I would recommend this place to friends and family alike.
A charming hotel in the heart of old town Madrid, a few steps from Plaza Mayor and close to the Mercado de San Miguel. It’s a cozy hideaway tucked into a big, busy city!
Fantastic
Great Location … Plaza Mayor right there ….great services … fantastic all the way
Very central tourist area just next to the Plaza Mayor, walkable to main spots and lots of tapas/restaurants. The room is clean and with all basics you need. The staff are nice and helpful.
Wonder place to stay!!
This property is right next to Plaza Mayor, which will be incredible for some and annoying for others, since it is right in the center of the tourist area. A little bit of noise at night from the surrounding area, but not too distracting and wasn't disruptive to my sleep. A great room with a comfortable bed.
Loved the location! Loved the hotel! It does have it's small tiny issues here and there because it's a 400-year old hotel, but overall a lovely one. I will definitely go back because of how cute it is and it's proximity to some damn good places to eat.
Perfect location in Madrid
The hotel was located centre of Madrid, right next to Placa de Mayor. They have beautiful staircase, old building with modernised room. Staff was very friendly. They serve very good breakfasts.
Property is beautiful and staff very attentive. The reason for poor reviews is due to since I arrive late night there was no toiletries in the room. There was a sign in the elevator to call reception and request it if you need them but at such late night I just want to take a shower and rest. For must all other this is a great place to stay
Great location,
El personal muy atento, el lugar super céntrico. Cuidado con los carteristas y recordar que, por la localización, puede ser un poco “ruidoso”.
5-Star Stay with Implicit Noise
My wife and I loved staying here! Kind staff, a great room with a balcony view, and an extremely walkable location. The one thing you have to know is that you're right on a bustling street and that comes with significant noise, especially if you're there on the weekend. Plan ear plugs accordingly. Would absolutely recommend!
A little gem in an excellent location. Jon at check in was extremely helpful and pleasant. Room was clean. Small as expected but sufficient. They have a kettle and you can get tea and coffee from the lobby. We did not need the minibar but it was good to have the small fridge. The only negative was noise and loud talking on the street which intermittently continued all night long even though it was not a weekend. They need better soundproofing.
Quick stay, good experience
Good, quick, 2-nt. stay in Central Madrid. Very good location in walking distance to a lot of options. Had the basic double room which was fine for 2 nights, if staying longer, opt for larger room but overall, pmeasant stay. Breakfast from the hotel was 11€ and is well worth it. Also, if you opt to pay at the hotel (and have a credit card with no foreign transaction fees), opt to pay in Euros, it'll save you roughly 4% off hotels.com online USD conversion.
Very nice hotel and exceeded our expectations. Right in the heart of Madrid.
Rooms very small and not functioning
The location near of everithing
This hotel is a bit dated. The room was small and noisy overlooking two patio restaurants. We may have been in a room that hasn’t been renovated because the images on Expedia didn’t look like our room. The square toilet was extremely uncomfortable and there was a wooden pole sticking up thought the bathroom right next to the toilet. Somehow we paid for breakfast, which we don’t usually take, and when I went to get breakfast to take back to my room they would not allow you to remove anything from the breakfast room. We did discover an excellent Josephine Baker-inspired cocktail bar called Lovo Bar with high-end tapas. It was a real treat. We also had lunch at an excellent historical restaurant on Calle de las Huerta called Casa Alberto. We also enjoyed the “bull bar” La Torres del Oreo on Plaza Mayor.
Perfect location; small rooms; great service; buffet beeakfast limited
Very good hotel ,spoted good.
Great Little Hotel
Very friendly and helpful staff. Very clean. Excellent location.
Love it
Love the location and history of this hotel. My third stay in 5 years. Room was good with balcony. Tv in a strange location but couldn't really go anywhere else. Not there to watch tv anyway. Aircon was a bit noisy but efficient.
Excelente location
Great location! Friendly staff. Fun breakfast. Loved it.
Best location in Madrid! Everything super close to the hotel! very good breakfast
The staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. But the noises from out side of hotel were pretty loud untill 1 a.m every night(we stayed for 5 days)then occasional drunk people out side, it was hard to sleep.
Perfect location for everything Madrid
We really enjoyed our stay. The best thing about this hotel is the location being 5 min walk from many of the things we wanted to do. Room was clean and staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We would definitely stop at this hotel if we are back in Madrid. We highly recommend it to anyone especially families.
Petit Palace Posada del Peine | Hotel in Madrid | Travala.com
A great location, wonderful staff, very good breakfast. Only negative is that the room was configured a bit awkwardly—a very large bathroom created by glass partitioning made for tight quarters elsewhere. But as problems go, that is about a 2 on a scale of 10. This is a beautiful, historic building (as you will learn), right by the Plaza Mayor. Highly recommended
