Not so good , service in the restaurant and bar was terrible . Laundry very good .
Staff was very helpful, allowed me to switch rooms from 1 for 4 people to 2 rooms instead. I loved the rooms and the breakfast was delicious!
Don’t stay here!
Stayed overnight before our flight back to the states. Nice hotel but really nasty front desk service. The front desk wanted to charge my husband to call a taxi! The dinner was good and the staff in the restaurant were very nice. Just wish had more welcoming front desk people to make our experience good. Try the Gloria hotel instead - huge rooms, great staff, and delicious food!
The hotel is more than I expected! The staff is friendly and very helpful! It was close to a lot of local attractions! The only thing missing was that they did not have an iron or ironing board in our rooms! The breakfast each morning was amazing! Taxis were readily available and the staff was prompt to call the cab for us!
Run of mill business hotel
Hotel is dated, very 70/80's in appearance and needs a renovation. Staff are ok, won't put themselves out to assist but not rude. Room were cleaned to a high standard. Breakfast was typical of that found in Mozambique hotels, functional food, not particularly well presented but 'ok'. Easy access to taxis and within walking distance of port area and Maputo shopping centre.
Worst Hotel In Mozambique
Hotel is an unsafe part of Maputo. Rooms and all facilities are dirty. Management are unprofessional and not qualified for their positions. This Hotel claims to be a 4 Star hotel? It is a 1 Star at best!
Nothing g to write home about. I also found it a it expensive for it's condition
could be better
The hotel itself is good, many amenities and a good buffet breakfast. The hotel staff is unfriendly and not very helpful. Quick to dismiss questions and did not seem available to the foreigner as they did to guests from the region. They are not knowledgeable about local attractions and sites, a map of the area is not available
Disappointments all round
The hotel was OK, but not 4 star. The hotel is getting "old and tired" and even some of the furnishings need to be upgraded. The staff clearly need to stop overlooking small things that are wrong with the view that they may have to do some work. The WiFi is free, if you can connect to it as this has not as yet been finalized. SO getting an internet connection is a nightmare to say the least. The "Al'A'Carte" restaurant. This is a whole different matter. The coffee cups don’t even match the dinner service. For dinner I ordered COD..... when it came (45 minutes later I might add), first bite it was raw in the middle. This was replaced with another piece of fish that was dripping in oil and inedible. The next day for lunch I ordered a toasted chicken mayonnaise sandwich. I understand that there may be some issues with language barriers etc. Hence the reason I pointed out on the menu to exactly what I wanted. When the sandwich arrived, it was TUNA. This was replaced (with what I originally ordered). Only to find in the sandwich there were about 4 x bones and pieces of gristle. I can give nothing more than a HUGE disappointment to this hotel.
Falling apart...
This used to be a nice hotel. However due to poor maintenance, and carelessness, the hotel has deteriorated. Sauna doesn't work and internet was unstable. The staff was generally nice but the hotel clearly had no intention to fix the 2 mentioned problems. Thus too expensive for what it is, but this is Maputo... Little quality for the money spent.
OK, I guess
A couple issues: 1) the door of one of the elevators would not open on my floor, limited me to one elevator, and 2) wireless connection was not good / consistent (I was on the 9th floor)
Unhappy Stay At Rovuma
No working phone, now working aircon and no remote control for the tv. I reported all this and NOTHING was done to rectify any of this. I have often stayed here, but the hotel is now tacky and in need of a face lift an management whoe cares
Pleasant staff, dated accomodation
I was happy overall, nice location, very kind staff, but the hotel is a little dated. The elevator wasn't working right for most of my stay and there were only a few channels on the TV (about 5-6). The wifi was very slow (max 25Kbps) but it was free.. Also, the beds are really stiff! I wasn't sad to be leaving, but it does have it's benefits such as location (a little more quiet than others where I moved to). I wouldn't be complaining if I had to stay there again.
Overly Priced
Not worth the money spent per night
Hotel is overrated
Restaurant & bar is good, good service and good food, however hotel is old and needs urgent update.
Very good, very friendly.
Excellent hotel. Very good staff, lovely helpful attitude. Gym is not very well equipped but it is a gym! Pool is not heated, so prepare for a shock! Nice welcoming staff on reception, chamber maids, bar and restaurant.
Nice hotel in Maputo, could use some renos
Nice hotel in Maputo, good location, nice view of the Cathedral. However, the room safe was out of order, not all TV channels worked, and wifi didn't work in all rooms. Check-in and check-out took a long time.
Old hotel in the city center.
The hotel is in serious need of renovation. Internet facility does not work in room. It is extremely slow in lounge as well. The lifts are 20 years old version. The food at the restaurant was good though and the hotel staff was very pleasing and helpful.
Adequate facilities
standard of accommodation is basic, comfortable and overall satisfactory
average hotel.
average hotel.good WiFi.nice breakfasts. good pool.rooms not fantastic.by south African standards. it was fairly priced in relation to other hotels of the same star rating
Overpriced, but everything there is
We stayed 2 nights here, enroute home, thus just wanted a place close to the airport and central. This hotel is nice, but super dated. The room was comfortable, but like I said, very dated and cold feeling. The food is overpriced in the 2 restaurants, but there are no nice places to eat anywhere near by. The bar has a nice view of the sunset, and the church. The only redeeming quality, worth the price, was the continental breakfast....it was huge, and delicious! The pool wasn't bad either....but they failed to give us towels. The pictures make it look better than it is, but it wasn't totally all bad. Too costly for what you get, but that's Maputo.
Only stayed one night (New Year's Eve 2013/2014). Hotel was fine for one night, nothing special, but good, comfortable beds.
Nice location, but room for improvement
The hotel seemed nicer than I expected, but with three on-site dining facilities, choice were limited, serviced varied, and quality was poor. I thought my room was relatively clean, but on the third day I found a roach in my room, and when my bedding was changed saw heavily soiled sheets. Overall, the hotel failed to meet my expectations, which were not particularly high to begin with. I was also charged with someone else's meal upon check out. When I disputed it, I was shown the receipt which was clearly for another persons room and didn't match any of mine. The charge was removed but I was made to feel as though it was my fault. I will not be returning to this hotel.
This hotel is not nice is very old type hotel
I had a bad experience in this hote I had to put a backet to collect the water from the air conditioner that was fowling I don't think I could advise some other people to visit this hotel
Bad Experience
Overall experience of this hotel is very bad. AC is very old not even working like fan. I think they should not call this hotel as star hotel. TV is also from 19's, clarity is too bad, very few channels. On top of this hotel.com says discount rates but actually rate are higher than the hotel rates.
Slow elevator
It was OK overall. Main problem was that only one elevator was working and it was very slow. My room was on the 12th floor.
It's inconceivable that one lift is not working in a building of this size. Also the television in the room must be 20 years old. Picture quality not good. The food however and service was good.
Thanks, but no thanks
Booked here instead of the Cardoso -- where I usually stay -- because all hotels were full. The Pestana Rovuma is dated, the elevators don't work, the internet is painfully slow (impossible to Skype) and even though it's not really dirty, it gives the appearance of being so (e.g., old carpets, "old" smell). Rooms are small with small windows and no views. Hotel staff is irregular: nice in the restaurants, terrible in the front desk. Taxi service is slow since it has to be called in.
Hotel right in the centre of Maputo
It was my second stay at this hotel and I keep coming back because it is so central and provides me with all the facilities I need for my short business stays. It is clean if perhaps on the more basic side but at the Expedia price I booked it I thought it was value for money (taking into consideration that hotels in Africa are generally overpriced). This time I organised my trip through Nairobi, not knowing that Nairobi airport would be put under a stress test due to the recent fire. In fact, due to the fire my outgoing flight from Nairobi to Maputo was cancelled and I was offered a replacement seat on a flight 2 days later. The cancellation was notified after the deadline to cancel the hotel in Maputo without incurring penalties had passed but the hotel management agreed nevertheless not to charge the penalty and reimburse me for the rest of the time I didn't use the hotel room! I was actually very pleased about that. Thanks Expedia!
Way to expensive
Hotel is on a good spot but way to expensive for the services it provides. But that is the problem in whole maputo
Pleasant stay
Positive, no complaints. Only comment is about the waiters at dinner in the restaurant: they could not speak really English (it is an international hotel)
2 Star hotel
Very ordinary and badly in need of refurb hotel. Old and outdated rooms not much better than a Motel. Shower was hopeless and limited TV channels.
Comfortable
Comfortable, yet improvements in room conditions are possible for the long-term benefits of the hotel itself.
Poor service
I was given a room in which air conditioner was making sound like a generator. After much persuasion they gave me a room with split AC. General décor of this hotel resembles that of a good hostel not a quality hotel.
Comfortable hotel
Staff was very helpful and accommodating and wifi was included in the rate and reliable which is important to me. Room was relatively clean and comfortable for the price in Maputo it was very fine. I was working every day all day so cannot comment much on the neighborhood, I did need to take a taxi to my work location... but that was because it was a bit far.
Good central location, poor front desk service
Reception didn't have a record of our booking, and despite our confirmation letter left us waiting for more than an hour without telling us what was going on, before allowing us to go to our rooms. I then asked if a fax had arrived for me, and they said no, but didn't tell me the fax machine wasn't working. After several more attempts I managed to get an email address that was working that day, but didn't the next. However, the service in the dining room at breakfast was very good, and the food was good too. Together with the central location, this made it an acceptable place to stay.
Pathetic Hotel. Do not stay even if offered free
It is the most pathetic hotel i have ever visited. It was booked ,as it was advertised through expedia, and not due to personal choice.. The experience was very bad. rooms below standard Internet speed way below standards. imagine opening google search engine takes approx 4 min. Bathrooms stink. Balcony doors do not lock(imagine been in Africa and sleeping with open balcony doors)
k.a.k
Rude staff, overpriced and generally a very bad experience. One of those stars should be taken off!
Great location. Good services.
Good breakfast variety. Room clean at level 7. Good free WIFI Internet reception from the room. All of the reception personnel speak English. Very good location to main centre of Maputo.
Very fiendly staff
Staff was very friendly, some parts of the Hotel need to be renovated, in summary the duration of stay was to my satisfaction after change the room at the 2nd day due to effort of the manager
Good location, terrible service
They did not give me the room I booked, no safe key, will think twice before staying at this hotel again.
Nice Stay in Maputo
The hotel situation is really convenient, so is the possibility to have every meal at one of the restaurants. However at some points the staff was not totally helpful as we could expect in a hotel of this ranking and price.
great
we're very happy with the service of the hotel.
Pestana Rovuma...my best in Maputo!
I enjoyed every day I stayed in Pestana...the only down side were some of the reception staffs...they were NOT warm towards receiving me each time I come around as I had to check-in and out three different times from the hotel...I think it may have to do with the fact that I spoke little or no portugese and they felt quite inadequate communicating freely in English. The breakfast was amazing for me and the availability of the pharmacy, travel agency etc on the pricints of the hotel were very wonderful features...I look forward to my time in pestana as I would try to improve my portugese to get the smile out of those receptionist...
With reservation, but no vacancy!
I actually havent any experience in this hotel. I booked it using expedia and when i arrived at it, it didnt have any record about my reservation (and I had my confirmation number with me). The treatment were terrible and the staffs were no polite, like me and my boyfriend were doing something wrong. The didnt have vacancy, and we had to stay in another horrible hotel. Do not recomend this hotel!!!
Basic hotel, ok but nothing spectacular
Basic accomodations though a bit run down, nice buffet breakfast but limited restaurant options at the hotel and in the area. The staff is not super friendly but not rude either. The prices of hotels in Maputo seem to be pretty high for what you get.
Not bad for Maputo
Considering the appalling state of some of the infrastructure in the inner city, this hotel was a welcome relief. I was attended to by the most helpful and sincere staff, even though their spoken english sometimes left a lot to be desired. The hotel is ideally located in central Maputo and is perfect if you will like to avoid the hustle of getting into town for business (most other hotels are not really conveniently located). The rooms were adequate and the breakfast was great. Fresh food/fruits...I will definitely stay here again. Very good value for money although i find the 4star rating a bit questionable.
Be Warned
One of the most disappointing hotels I have ever stayed at from the reception where service lacking, standard of room, through to lengthy delays in room service, for failure to respond to request for safe key and delay in persons answering for various services. For an alleged leading hotel in Maputo leaves a lot to be desired.Needs maintenance and do not talk about the lifts. Would be better to walk however not great to walk up to the 8th floor.I will not mention the air conditioning as not worth the aggravation.
Excellent value for Maputo
The only issue with hotel service related to the breakfast which was supposed to be available from 6am but we struggled for service before 6.30am. The air-conditioner in our room (no, 812) was noisy. Otherwise an excellent hotel.
Forget Maputo
Just take my word for it...this hotel is not worth the price unless the price - any price. top tier accommodations are not to Be found at this Hotel or anywhere in Maputo. They are all WAY overpriced. I won't waste my time listing everything wrong with the place - from holes in the towels to broken elevators To reresponsive service. I would never go back to this hotel or Maputo again.
Good value
While the hotel is basic, it was clean and comfortable and the staff was very helpful. Breakfast buffet was very nice, internet service was reliable and the bar area is a great place for informal meetings (quiet, spacious, internet available). Overall, a good value.
We booked this hotel on the assumption it is graded 4 star. Far from it. The rooms / furninshings and bathrooms depsite residing in an executive suite in desperate ned of an upgarde. Will not be visiting this hotel again considring the price paid. It should immediatley be downgraded to a 2 start facility. These comments habe nothing to do with the fact that Maputo experienced a power outage for almost 12 hours on the night, albeit one would think that at least a candle coudl be provided for the guyets in their room in such emergencies.
This hotel is NOT a 4 star!!maybe 2 star.
When we checked in there was a mess up with our details where our details had not been updated, my name was spelt incorrectly. When we got to the room one of the beds had a broken leg, and the room had been prepared as if one person will be checking in, one bottle of water and a single set of towels as opposed to two.The staff at this hotel were very unfriendly and not helpful at all with regards to helping us get information on how to book for activities around the city, I was told wait for a reservation manager who would be back in the office after 3 days! Our booking included breakfast; which was horrible, the fruit used tasted like it had been sitting there for days and had started fermenting. On the 31st of Jan we went out and got back on the 1st, we had been to the beach and therefore had sand on our feet, after the room had been made on the 1st there was still sand on the sheets, getting an iron was impossible, we were told the hotel has one iron. Maybe if you understand portuguese you will get a different experience but as a non-portuguese speaker I had a horrible experience and found the hotel staff at reception very unhelpful!
bad memories
We were disappointed with the standards of the hotel. Bad service, staff doesn't speak English, no info or maps available at the hotel, there are no umbrellas available at the pool . Definitely not 4 star grade!
Only when you are desperate....
Booked for a luxury suite but was lead to a small standard room. After protested at the reception, the on-duty manager apologised for not realising the booking detail and then changed us to the suite alright but the damage was already done.... It is bigger alright but rather unnecessary since all we need is a sleeper couch for the kids. The room itself has this awful smell in the so called kitchen area (minus the stove) and the bathrooms. AirCon wasn't working in the lounge area, asked the staff to come sort out the problem but gave up after I requested twice. So we just stayed in the bedrooms most of the time. All rooms were facing south-west, mostly city view and a slight glimpse on the harbour, had a nice sundowner on the balcony. Don't think we will ever return to the hotel ever again.
Nothing special
The hotel needs a facelift; the beds were uncomfortable, the pool filthy. For this price I would stay elsewhere.
Best deal for staying in the city of Maputo.
As far as staying in Maputo, this hotel is probably the best deal. Air conditioned rooms with balconies that overlook the city are two of the best features. The 'free' breakfast is excellent and the bar and restaurant have a respectable selection and above average quality. My ny complaint is that the maids flaked on cleaning our room one day, but we did leave after 12.
economical
Air conditioning unit poured water. TV channels often unavailable. Bed and pillows hard as a rock. Despite all this, I would go back, since this hotel is the most economical in the city. Staff were pleasant.
Maputo
Hotel good location.rooms are large but needs refurbishment & bathrooms are basic .tv & comp.tea/coffee/water.free WI-Fi which is quick.there is a small pool, bar, coffee shop,& a good restaurant.buffet breakfast is good.got a room upgrade as airport shuttle t/f is erratic.staff helpful.close to downtown & opp. Church & close to train stn & markets.
Close to downtown and airport
The Pestana Rovuma is an adequate hotel. However, the rooms are spartan as is the surrounding area. I am not sure you can do much better for the money however. Got to be realistic in Maputo.
Perfect location in Maputo
Was excellent. Hotel staff not so friendly and hotel facilities need an upgrade. For example showers in bathrooms very poor and were just hoses from bath taps. Otherwise we enjoyed it and had a great time.
good hotel for a working visit.
Very friendly and helpful staff and a fast, free wireless internet service made up for the frequently broken lifts (I stayed on the 12th floor)! The room was quite large, clean and everything in the bathroom worked. The /restaurant area and thecoffe bar downstairs were all pleasant places and the breakfast had a reasonable choice and quality of food. The hotel is very centrally located, right next to the cathedral and my room had great views of the city and the sea.
One of the better hotels to stay at in Maputo
All hotels in Maputo are expensive for what you get and the Rovuma is probably one of the best for value for money. The breakfast is quite good, but the restaurant is poor for lunch and dinner, and the menu in the ground floor bar (which is the better place to eat) is very limited. All the good restaurants are a taxi ride away, but taxis are relatively cheap and easy to find - there is a rank very near the hotel.
Good place to stay in but expensive !!
Good views of the church and city, limited activity in hotel after 6;00 pm. Used to get bored during my visit in July. You cann't go out alone and not much to do in hotel.
Lousy Gym
The advertized a functioning gym. No of the equipment was working and had not been working for a month. Very disappointing, for this was the reason I chose the hotel. Internet in room was very slow.
Old, but still OK
Pestana must have been the best Hotel in Maputo, when opened. Now it is getting old, but stll OK. Be prepared to wait for the elevators, at certain times they are very crowded. Breakfast is OK. Hotel is in city center, there are lot of policemen waking around, be prepared to show your passport every time you run into them. Room service price are high. Pool was closed during my visit. Pestana still is value for money!
Satisfied
OK for business traveller
Excellent location for business traveller. Rooms are a bit tired - bathrooms fittings and furniture - but comfortable enough.
OK Hotel but nothing special
clean hotel with no atmosphere. asked for queen room and got a twin.
Pestana Rovuma Hotel
Airport pick-up was slow, had to wait 20min for them to get sorted. Hotel check-in was slow, room was changed to a smaller one Room was noisy, beside some extraction chimney Service was slow, had to chase them several times to speed up
Worst customer service
This hotel charged my credit card by mistake even though room was pre-paid by hotels.com. Even though they accepted it was a mistake, and snce the reservaton manager was not around to proof I had a reservation with hotels.com (I provided a copy of my reservation voucher and number!!!), they proceed to charge my credit card. Management did not take ownership to refund the money. Several e-mails back and forth and pretty much they stole my money. Not a cheap hotel (one of the most expensive in the country) and you would expect great service, which was not the case. Hotels.com had to help and jump in but they also struggled trying to get in contact or responses of the management team. We had to chase them via e-mails and the managers were just not helpful at all. The responses were poor. OVERRATED, VERY EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT IT IS, and TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT SERVICE & BILLING. I have traveled for work and pleasure to several 5 star hotels in around 100 countries all over the world. This is by far the worst experience ever and felt helpless. PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY, JUST DON'T GO!
Pestana Rovuma
During my occupancy (10 nights), several times both elevators were damaged. The wireless connection of net also not available in most of the rooms. It is expected to have construction works to improve the quality of the service.
Very impressed!
Free upgrade to a top floor appartment with an amazing view. Excellent breakfast. Lovely pool area but sadly didn't have enough time to make full use of it due to flight times. Great service and would definitely stay again.
No flexibility on breakfast provision.
Breakfast is served from 6.30am but we had to depart at 6am. There was no flexibility on us accessing breakfast earlier despite having already paid for it. Not a good service.

tudo correcto, dentro das expetativas, o atendimento e quarto de pontuação boa. funcionarios amaveis o breakfast, café de manhã, esperava um pouco mais
