Loved this hotel! The staff were super welcoming and helpful, from check-in to check-out. Even though my stay was short, it was really enjoyable. Highly recommend!
The check in man was awesome. Thanks for a great stay
Wonderful hotel with a special charm
Wonderful hotel with that extra special feeling. Personnel were helpful and friendly. Ideally situated close to the park, museum, CBD and a 20 min walk to botanical gardens! - This is our favourite hotel in Cannberra, we will keep teturning.
I always enjoy returning to this hotel.
James at reception was awesome. Highly recommend.
Booked for 2 beds when checked the day before I was told that was not what I booked when I know I did . They offered a roll out which I did not accept as my son and husband ( grown men ) needed full size beds . They found a room which just fit two very small single beds in them for two men . I paid $664 for 2 nights for this which was not what I paid for . The security lock did not work when they came back late at night . I will not recommend this property and will not return
Staff were very Friendly
Overall, the place is okay. The cleanliness is decent, but I noticed the red chair had some dust on it, which was a bit off-putting. The air conditioning was also quite noisy, making it hard to relax fully. On the positive side, the location is very convenient and easy to access. With a bit of attention to detail, this place could be much better.”
Peppers is like the worst hotel now in Canberra a complete dump thats run poorly.
Breakfast was below standard
.
Thankyou communication was good too
Good overnight.
Smart but not visibly managed.
Disappointed..rooms are dated, room not serviced whilst we were there, paid parking next door a hassle to use and access.
Leather bedhead was peeling, clumps of dust in shower, aircon vent would rattle.
A great bar area and fab cocktails. The room carpet is quirky and needs a disclaimer for people who get migraines and definitely unfriendly for anyone hungover. The tv placement is on the wrong wall and could easily be fixed. The staff were not well prepared logistically for a fire alarm as a small third of guests were left unattended for over half an hour and the staff should have shown a willingness to make amends for the inconvenience with a free drink/coffee.
This unique hotel is beautiful, the layout, with layered wooden staircases that have dark oak beam banisters is delightful. The photography artwork is very interesting and the sculptures are first class. We had the premium room, which was a bit expensive, but well worth it. The best anniversary present, and we got a complimentary bottle of plont! Thanks guys 🙏
Didn’t like the Parking, the breakfast, one of us didn’t even get it. Nothing like pepper’s used to be.
Excellent service, comfortable and clean accommodation and great location.
Turned away at reception claiming there was no booking
This wasn’t the property you would expect from Peppers. If you are booking with an expectation for rollaway bed make sure you check multiple times that it has been allocated. This will ensure the third person is not sleeping in a lounge or in the bed. Don’t expect the buffet to be great it is very small but there is an option to get hot food, which consisted of eggs, tomato and a small rasher of bacon and a quarter of a sausage.
Not to be recommended
Decor - dated Bedroom - Good size; Good wardrobe; No power points where they should be - near bed and bedside tables; Bathroom - Large but 2 major drawbacks namely: absolutely no bench space for toiletries; and shower had no door, hence water went all over floor. Restaurant - Italian but chef"s only experience must have been in the army and/or goals. inadequate menu and very poor cooking. Position - too far away from 'downtown'.
Wonderful hotel - so accommodating and the beds feel like you are sleeping in a cloud.
Location was excellent as were reception staff on our arrival. Room was clean and fresh. Last minute decision to stay whilst in the area for Floriarde and choice could not have been better for car parking and walking. Restaurant was also great food
Location, Heating could be better.
Our bed was the worse bed I ever slept in. Shower flooded the whole bathroom and I to the room. Reception staff were so unfriendly. Reception area the floors were dirty. Will never return to this hotel.
Lovely room and facilities. Stairs to various floors were a little confusing.
A beautiful herotage stay
Great service!
Comfortable room. Hotel condition a bit shabby in the daylight. Check in staff very helpful. Other reception staff polite and well meaning but not very informed. Terrible communication during the booking process (via common third party website).
The property was excellent, room clean and staff lovely. It was unfortunate that the dinning was full and we weren’t able to get dinner, but otherwise wonderful
We always enjoy our stay at peppers because the staff are very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The rooms are lovely and clean and the hotel is in a great location close to the lake for walking and plenty of great dining choices.
Very happy with everything here
The facilities were very clean, well maintained and comfortable. The restaurant is on site and the food was excellent but a tad expensive. The Sunday menu is limited but still there was plenty of options. The area they leave open for Sunday dining needs renovations it was really unappealing and incongruent with the food seved. The hotel room was quiet until bed time and the heating system was loud, im a light sleeper, so wasn't good for a restful night. I would absolutely stay again
Check in was super easy and the staff were super nice.
Beautiful bath
Staff were very helpful but the condition of the bed and furniture was very worn.
Loud aircon and really hot without it. Noisy sleep. The bed was not very comfortable. The room looks onto other rooms. So it is necessary to keep the heavy draped closed Otherwise clean and well appointed. Would be good if they could improve airflow.
Beautiful place to stay. One of my favourites in Canberra.
Pepperific!
Great location, friendly and professional staff. Comfortable with all the facilities. Walk to the cinema and great choice for eating on site and close by. We will be back 😁
over rated hotel given the price and star rating
Average room and small in size for the cost and star rating of the hotel. Never the less very adequate for an overnight stay. Breakfast was below the standard you would expect from this priced and star rated hotel. Dingy breakfast room with stale bread and a small choice of 'breakfast bar' items. Purchased parking in building next door on description of lack of parking on hotel website only to find that all around the hotel is 2hr parking between 7am and 6 pm which meant there was effectively unlimited parking around the hotel between 4pm and 9am.
Parking and location
Very small room, no view.
Brilliant as always
What I dislike: the small Nespresso coffee cups. I would much rather have an underfilled mug than have to make two coffees or reuse a teabag to get my mug of hot drink in the room. Admittedly this is a first world problem, but it's one I've never encountered in a hotel room before. Thanks, Peppers Gallery, I love you and you've been my home away from home in Adelaide for twelve years now.
Management was happy to talk to you and help with any questions you have, room was great, just remember your only there to sleep. Breakfast was well it was a continental one so dont expected much but was great, parking was well had to park on the street but ive been finding this no matter were ive stayed in Canberra which sucks. The bar was great beer awesome, so over all thank you to all the staff and managers for a great stay be coming back.
everything
Bathroom needed at fan.
Floriade accommodation
Stayed 3 nights in room 135. Bed comfortable. Ensuite a bit tired and could do with refurbishment. Light over vanity not working. Breakfast and dinner in hotel restaurant very good. Short walk to many other eateries.
Hidden Oasis in Canberra
Peppers is well-situated in a quiet mostly governmental office neighborhood. Surprisingly, within the block are a pastry shop, a wine bar, cineplex, other hotel with other restaurant and bar. A great restaurant, Rebel Rebel, is only half a block away. The hotel restaurant has good food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Rooms are a bit on the small side, but definitely adequate. I enjoyed my stay and would definitely return to it or recommend it to others.
The staff were amazing, except the housekeeping I did expect my bed to be made whilst I was there, not like the place was cheap. The the old building was beautiful but needed more work especially in the restaurant, (Walls needed painting). The restaurant was raved about I had 2 meals there at different times, lunch and dinner. Dinner started exceptionally well main course I left but to be fair I didn't pat for the main course just anything else. My lunch was just a salad, was better than my dinner but later was violently ill. Left the next day as arranged not easy carrying my luggage down to checkout by myself probably my fault it doesn't really matter I won't be returning
The ambience and the design of both the Hotel and the Precinct were interesting. The breakfast was disappointing with fruit salad being considered a main and not a precursor to a traditional main meal - a bowl of cereal was similarly defined. While the staff in the restaurant were very pleasant these menu limitations made this the worst breakfast I can recall in any hotel I have stayed in.
We enjoyed the comforts of Peppers Gallery Hotel in Canberra and the service provided by the helpful staff but thought the breakfast provided was limited and defining a bowl of fruit as a Main which obviated other choices in the prepaid breakfast was a joke.
Fantastic location, great room and on site dining with nearby bars, cafes etc. However the stand out was the staff. Friendly and helpful from check in to check out. Additionally, I was travelling alone and became unwell and had to be admitted to hospital. Staff offered to keep my room as I was expecting to return later in the day. When kept in overnight, they packed all my gear beautifully and personally delivered it to my hospital room so I could proceed directly to the airport when discharged. I am so grateful.
Room in poor condition and looking tired. Terrible heating. Parking and gym facilities in other buildings in the area makes that all quite complicated.
Lots of light in the room at night from the bathroom windows. Shower recess poorly designed and caused water to pool all over bathroom after 2x showers.
Staff very friendly & helpful
We chose this hotel because it was right across from the Australian Academy of Science where we attended the meeting. Hotel staff were really nice and professional. We were surprised that the hotel would clean our room only once in seven days! There are many minor other irritants like the sofa is designed for a midget, one has close the commode to flush....
Liked the shower
Nicely appointed room and very quiet What more could one ask for?
The hotel is an historical building. Modern elements have been thoughtfully integrated. Great facilities, super close to great restaurants and a cinema. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately we were underwhelmed . The staff were lovely, but the room was dark, dingy, depressing and not clean. Parking was inconvenient
Nice little boutique style hotel which was convenient for what we needed. Restaurant could improve a bit. Asked for table water and was told they were just refilling some and it will be out soon. It never arrived. Next morning had to ask a few times for butter for toast. That’s something that should come with a meal with toast. Also noticed a lot of dirty glasses and empty wine bottles on bar. I’m sure they were busy but it just didn’t look appealing. Maybe need a different spot to put dirty things.
Disappointing
Cleanliness was disappointing. Bathroom basin was dirty. No daily service which meant bins were not emptied and no info on where to empty them ourselves. Parking was off site and a bit confusing. You had to go through the actual garage door to get in on the weekend. Access to the building where the carpark is was not available via the lift.
Food and service were excellent
Relaxed Stay
Well located.Well deigned giving it a relaxed feeling.Helpful and friendly staff.
Just right
The hotel front desk staff were very helpful. I can not find any faults. Just the perfect place for us to stay, close to ANU, the lake and city.
The staff were friendly and helpful the room was comfortable and clean. The only slight problem was the showe was a bit too powerful and the water ran out into the bathroom the first night. This was easily overcome by not having the shower on fully on subsequent days. The staff happily replaced my bathmat and gave me a spare.
Very quiet, beautiful surroundings, great room though the bed was very soft, I prefer a firmer mattress but still ok.
The location is excellent, the appointments are great, the service at check-in, bar and dining perfect. Lovely bright and breezy manager for breakfast. It’s a stroll to ANU, to restaurants, coffee bars etc. The room has everything. All in all we had a great stay.
Everything was easy, staff a big part of it
A great place to stay, very central, clean, modern and great facilities - very comfortable beds and terrific area
Most staff were not interested in customer service. And told things that were not right.
Nice place just some minor maintenance to rooms need to be done. Breakfast in restaurant very slow.
Staff were lovely
Not advised there would be no room service, so had to request extra towels. Also there was a function on one night in the Parlour, presume that is their function room, and that meant the bar and restaurant were closed, what were the other guests supposed to do! NOT a five-star hotel. Staff were good.
The bed was very uncomfortable, felt like someone had been sleeping on one side of the bed the whole time, so very uneven. Food disappointing, but pleasant staff. The evening I went down to have a drink and dinner the barman was under a lot of stress, 2 staff down, I had to go over and pick up my drink from the bar as it was sitting there. Otherwise ok.
The family apartments that we stayed in were modern, roomy and clean. The fact that they have a living area, separate bedrooms and laundry makes these apartments great for family stays in Canberra. Just be careful of dining requirements, as restaurants nearby are generally not open at the beginning of the week.
Nice and quiet location however the fire alarm accidentally went off in the hotel at 3am during our stay and we couldn't get back to sleep. Nice seeing live music in the evening which always warms the atmosphere.
Nice surprise on arrival to be given an upgrade to an executive room for my 2 night stay. Staff very friendly and helpful (particularly impressed with how quickly and efficiently my jacket which i left in my room was posted back to me in Melbourne. Thanks Lucy 😀).
Room was lovely but having paid extra for bathroom with bath it was hard to keep warm in Canberra winter. Lower half of windows had frosting applied but room was overlooked by surrounding buildings so felt I had to keep blinds half drawn for privacy.
Expensive boutique hotel. Fine dining restaurant requires reservations. Not much nearby except for National Museum. Long walk to parliament but very scenic.
Staff were amazing, willing to go above and beyond. The room hadnt been cleaned properly, there was someboby elses old food left in the fridge that was a bit off putting but the rest of the room was fine.
Enjoyed our stay at Peppers in a two bedroom apartment. Access was easy and close to the Canberra CBD. We walked from our accommodation to the CBD on most occasions. The apartment was clean and tidy and very warm during our stay in June. Staff were helpful and courteous.
Fully renovated heritage building. Well appointed rooms although the flatscreen TV had terrible reception it did have over 300 channels. Mini-fridge was empty but was able to use for personal items. Towels/toiletries were not replaced during stay (I didn't go for the budget option with no cleaning) but staff happy to assist when I asked. Can be hard to move luggage up and down the small stairs which are not serviced by an elevator. Overall, a perfectly reasonable and affordable place to stay in a quiet area.
Nice place with lovely staff
Blinds broken in lounge. Bedroom not very warm and couldn’t increase air con temp Apartment really hard to find in the dark and cold and poorly lit entrance Tv not straight on wall - wonky!
Parking was a bit of a challenge but the staff, hotel and dining were lovely
Nothing but bad luck
The location is great but we had some issues with our stay. The offsite parking was difficult to find in the dark, and the swipe card did not work. We had to call reception who were very nice and came over to help, but the whole process took almost an hour. In the end the $19 parking is not even undercover or secure. The bed was way too soft and made for a poor sleep and sore back. The sink in the bathroom is a poor design and overflows easily. We had a wet bathroom floor the whole stay. The overall lighting in the room was poor, hard to find your clothes and apply make-up. A real shame as the hotel is quite charming and the location good.
Nice hotel
Poor upkeep on property, poorly cleaned.
Convenient snd comfortable with a boutique feel.
The location was perfect for my needs that night - I needed to be close to the National Museum. However, there was only one lady at the front desk and she was acting as concierge as well as check in staff. This meant that I had to wait for a longer time, & then she rushed me through check in. She forgot to explain how to get to my room which meant I got lost on the different ‘2’ floors, & I got lost looking for the parking outside the other hotel. Not a horrible experience but frustrating when you’re tired after a long drive.
Won’t be staying there again
The New Acton area is excellent for any business at ANU. The area is mostly very modern - which is cool - but this heritage building has so much character and pizzazz, and the management runs with that, with really cool and creative decor. The area around the hotel is great for walking and just delightful. My room was fantastic, with the biggest hotel room bathroom ever; the only downside was that I couldn't find the plug for the tub. Everything else was simply perfect. The restaurant Bicicletta is also excellent - try the pumpkin ravioli <3 !
Location was great. Room was not how appeared online. Our bed was broken and the room was disappointing
Nice location, front desk staff were great but else where staff service wasn’t great, my partner was ignored at the bar, there was only one person on at breakfast times not that it was busy but had to wait a while to be seated and things to come out which was inconvenient as we had meetings to get to… The rooms could do with an update… the carpet was stained, the bathroom had leaks and dull lighting which wasn’t great for doing makeup, the bed head was peeling and the pillows average…
Liked the beautiful green surroundings, court yard and alfresco dining. Very central location.
No room servicing, towels very hard like cardboard. First room unacceptable for my 85 yo mom as it had stairs, 2nd room offered had huge boxes or storage rubbish, 3rd room no proper mirrors, no proper bench in bathroom for makeup etc, just a sink. Plus the aircon not working properly, freezing temp only, no staff to help was the major problem, for circa #259 per night expected a bit better, taking into account the issues of covid
