The staff was absolutely amazing! They were friendly, courteous and helpful. Roberto that works the resort restaurant is an absolute gem. Always made sure I was well taken care of. If it's a massage you need, I highly recommend Yana. She manages to strike the perfect balance between a gentle, soothing massage and a deep sports massage. Finally, you must have a chat with Simon. You will find him at the reception as he oversees operations. He can provide you with a multitude of places to visit, restaurants to eat wherever your next destination takes you! Thankyou everyone for a great time 😁 Michael

The hotel has canceled our booking due to the fact that the ferry to reach the island was canceled until december 24t2024. When could you refund us the money asap please ?

Lovely place to go for a short break. It maybe a 3-star (I think) resort but you would not realize as the service is 5-star. The food is amazing in the resort. Simple breakfast and I had their well cooked porridge everyday. In the evenings, the grill and even their buffet was good and affordable. Just outside the resort, there are a few shops for local food. Visited a Chinese place and a Malay food shop. Overall, great place to free the mind and get better and greater ideas.

Beautiful location - rainforest and reef

The property is old and in need of maintenance, the worst issue was that there are any kind of plastics on the beach. The sea is incredible, the people kind and helpful

Nice dive sites and dive facilities

The resort was nice place to stay but they have to maintain some work on the property and they must keep the property more clean.

Bedsheets and towels were stained and overall cleanliness is very poor Development is very old and needs maintenance Rooms are small and can see others room very easily no privacy Tioman is nice and that’s what made our stay good not the hotel so much

The location is amazing and set in a beautiful shallow beach which is stunning. The hotel itself is run down and in need of an overhaul. We are not overly fussy and enjoyed our time swimming and just hanging around but don’t come with high expectations of a 4 star resort.

Away From the Buzz

Excellent if you wanna be away and secluded from the crowds

The location is sensational - right on the beach with easy access from the jetty. The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating, with great customer service. The place is a little run down - not surprising after Covid - and needs a bit of TLC, but the management are working hard to bring it back to its former glory and it just needs more guests to help fund their efforts. The food isn't the best, but everything else makes up for it. Highly recommend.

For Indians, they need to provide more vegetarian options

Great place to stay with my family for a week. Close to some decent snorkelling from the beach, a good (if sometimes a bit busy) restaurant. The deluxe suite we stayed in was spacious and we loved the outdoor bath!

The place is lively and pleasant overall. The rooms are quite spacious and clean. The restaurant serves a very good variety of food and wine.

I enjoyed the whole stay. The staff were friendly. The place was super cleaned and well maintained eventho the place being vacant for along time due to pandemic. I went there few days after the interstate travel was allowed. Just the experience with the ferry wasn't pleasant.

Lovely family get away in clear waters

Papa beach resort is one of the resort's in the Tioman Island. Tioman Island has one or two resorts in each stretch of beach. This one has rooms very close to the beach. Staff is helpful. I suggest 3 night stay to enjoy the resort, the island and take great opportunities for snorkelling and diving. Rama the manager is extra helpful, talk to him for any support

Upon checking into our room, we had to request to immediately swap rooms due to the uncleanliness of the room, and the lack of a 'beach view' which we had paid for - the view was blocked by another building and a digger making a lot of noise. We were also greeted to rubbish on our porch/leftover food remains as we entered our room. We were allocated a different room, and while we could just see a bit of the beach, the room is still extemeley unclean. There are black hairs on the floor in many places, the room is worn and dated, the cold tap does not work on the shower making it extremely uncomfortable to shower. In addition the windows in the bathroom do not close. There are bins overflowing throughout the resort

Do not have a nice beach and beach activities. Most ofcthe buildings are old and need upgrading.

I like the pool. The breakfast is okay, but could be better by adding a few more varieties. The staffs are great, keep reminding us about the ferry schedule.

Beach Bar staff

Great location by the beach. Welcoming and friendly staff, although not always the most attentive. The beach bar area was made exceptional by the service from Robin and Rodriguez. Robin never failed to chat with us and was very attentive, friendly and welcoming. He couldn't do enough for us. Excellent service.

The amenities of the resort were great. Food was beyond amazing, i ate the Paya nasi goreng thrice during my stay as that's how delicious it was. I highly recommend it. Since i was solo traveler, the staffs at the resort went beyond their call of duty to recommend me things i could do by myself, as most of the activities require at least 2 people or set to the price of 2 people. Many of them were kind enough to recommend dishes i should try at a very cheap rate, guess cuz i was alone, and joined me while i was eating or drinking at the bar at night, i really found that very sweet Also, please DONT hike on your own The only issue were the 3G/4G but its not their fault; I was irritated for awhile, as i had of emails to reply, ironically you can get good 3G/4G at the beach. So, i decided to set an auto-reply saying i am in a place with no 3G/4G don't expect any immediate responds. Took my phone, stuffed it deep down my bag pack, forgot about it and just enjoyed the island has to offer. And before i slept, walked towards to the beach and cleared my mails. Besides the beauty of the island, the people was one of the key highlights! Will definitely 100% return

we have few rooms at the end of the hotel.which is not suitable for lady to stay.and during day time open burning and the back of my room and the smoke /smell come in to my room.cannot rest .

Upgrade since last 6 year visit .... but tel and internet worse

The first room that was allotted to us was pathetic.. Seeing the condition, we went for an upgrade to a suite. That was OK, but certainly not to a suite standard.. The walls had stains, and paint peeling off from here and there.. Bathrooms were moldy.. Bed linen had a horrible perfume.. As far as outside facilities were concerned, swimming pool was dirty.. Reception area had a perpetual stink.. The rates were high, compared to other similar hotels in Malaysia, but the facilities were sub standard... Wifi was not available as a standard option.. It was chargeable.. Free Wifi was available only in reception, but that was ultra slow..

Overall had a great time. However the check-in and check-out was quite frustrating because the resort wanted to charge me :- a. breakfast for my only child upon check-in b. for my child stay We booked a deluxe seafront chalet that comes with one king sized bed and one queen bed for our family of 2 adults + 1 child (aged 11 years). Don't understand what had caused the blunder during check-in and check-out When I emailed the resort earlier, I was told that only 4th guest would be required to pay an additional of RM200. Therefore the entire process was not pleasant

Food not so nice

The people are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was acceptable. Rooms and Restaurants need technical updates and regular maintenance.

The ambience is nice. I dislike the garbage dump area which was an eye sore beacause it was situated in between the dining area and the way up to the suites near the pool. It was overflowing and the smell was unpleasant everytime we pass by to our rooms.

Lack of activities due monsoon season. The room and place is great. Juz the standard chalet need a lot of changes n security.

Booked room for 3 persons, counter staff argue its only for two. Luckily i had my booking email to show its 3. Still counter staff dont agree. Insist to check with the management first. Wifi only available at reception!!!

The hotel is quite dirty. A lot of sands on the floor when we first enters into the room, feel like they never wipe the floor. The toilet has a bad smell and the aircon was leaking. The swimming pool was closed when we checkin first day. The breakfast not so good but we still happy with the staff in restaurant. They are kind, helpful and serving good. I think the hotel needs a lot of improvement then only can consider as 4 star hotel.

The hotel needs a renovation, and the sheets and towels had some stains.

The room had lizards in it. The maintenance staff didn't clean the room without explicitly calling them to do so. Food quality was absolutely inedible. Staff was unhelpful and gave an annoyed look wherever you ask them for something

Deluxe room close to beach. Loved hearing the waves crashing. Facilities clean and staff friendly. Very close to jetty, which was nice. Breakfast was just OK - basic. Food was just OK. Limited. But overall an excellent stay. Would stay again.

For the price, it’s just average. The towels were dirty and we need to have it change. The first room air conditioner was not functioning properly and they change it for us very quickly.

Whilst the beach was amazing, this hotel is not as advertised - the standard and quality of accommodation is poor, run down and wifi definitely does not work!

Bad experience.

The hotel staffs wasn't friendly. Only provide one access card for a group of 4. It doesn't allow additional bed or rollout mattress. No hot water on the 2nd night. The bathroom do not have any air ventilation making it very stuffy. Lots of flies at the hotel restaurant. Hotel staffs did not told us to be on standby for the ferry departure. We missed the ferry back to mainland as the ferry arrive 30mins earlier.

Beachfront resort, perfect for snorkelling

Had a fantastic time on this beautiful island. The scenery is incredible. We had a 'superior chalet' which was comfortable (but in need of modernisation in places). Good mattress though! The snorkelling and diving available are excellent. The staff do speak English and are friendly - although some seem a bit confused about standard hotel procedures (like booking a restaurant table, or switching on the arcade machines)! We did find some of these encounters quite funny! But Wong the beach bar manager can be quite rude. Overall, we had a fantastic time and totally recommend. Tip - the sea boulders near the jetty are the best place to snorkel. There are hundreds of fish there, and lots of coral.

Pros: Nice sea view from the room. Comfy shower with hot water. Cons: Only 1 room card is provided, I believe this is to save electricity but please remember that customer paid for these services. No bottled water provided.

Very nice hotel right on the beach. Lots to see and do. Staff were the most helpful and friendly I have experienced. Congratulations to them all. Will definitely come again.

Hotel close to beach and other facilities

Generally satisfactory for the price paid. Neaby to shops and facilities. Compound cleanliness and maintenance of premises can improved. F & B areas looks dated and require renovations.

Good experience at the hotel during our stay. Tioman as a whole needs to ensure their waters n reefs be protected. Was there for 3days, and each time came back with feet covered in black sticky grease or oil after swimming in sea or stepping on stones in the sea. Didnt see signs of oil on beach, but feet always black after swimming/snorkeling... hopefully a one-of incident during the duration of our stay. Overall good experience at the hotel.

best location resort in tioman

Just beside the beach, the hotel is absolute beauty. Reception staff were welcoming and helpful and check-in and check-out were smooth. Spacious rooms and a decent bathroom. The staffs were very cooperative.In the evening, you can enjoy candle light dinner at the beach as well as duty free beer.

Uncomfortable bed, beautiful ocean, trashed up bea

The ocean water was clear and beautiful. The beach was littered with trash. Food was good and cheap. As far as the room. The bed was very uncomfortable, towels smelled, the tv was not functional, laundry service is expensive, overall it was average. The bed being so hard was what made our stay very bad.

Nice Beach Front View from my room. Comfortable room based on 3 star and a bit run down. No hair dryer and no Wi-Fi available in room. Cloudy tap water from mountain source. Sandy floor. Pricey hotel restaurant food as compared to nearby Chinese seafood restaurant. Limited variety may be due to lack of perishable supply from mainland and island. Nearby convenient sundries shop and duty free shop. Alcohol here is cheap. A lot of mosquitoes around and please bring along repellent with you.

Good hotel close to beach

Our room had a sea view and it was lovely to sit out and relax. The only way in and out was by ferry, sea taxi or a walk over the hill which walking boots and good leg muscles are needed. There are a couple of restaurants apart from the hotel. The buffet breakfast was very good, catering for the Western diet as well. Some wild life to see. The river and lake area had quite a few monitor lizards and one or two monkeys about in the trees. A very nice stay.

steps from the beach

Just returned from a lovely 4 day trip to Tioman. Paya Beach was beautiful, quiet, and relaxing- a true get away. Great sunsets from the beach just steps away from our room. A big thank you to Lia and staff for helping to get a forgotten passport to the other side of the island. Very kind!

Nice view near thw beach

Overall is ok, in terms of cleanliness and comfort. It is also feels privacy which is good for honeymooners but one thing i'm not satisfied is the food! It is quite expensive but the taste is bad.

It was very pretty. Went during monsoon season so a lot of things were closed. The only place to eat was the restaurant at the reaort. The wifi was very bad though! So bad that it was not worth using.

Great short getaway to tioman island

Great beach and nice room views. The friendly staff allocated us to beachfront rooms. My partner and I enjoyed the beach bar atmosphere while having our meals.

Disappointing service

Room is not clean. Housekeeping is don't on alternate days, not daily. No towel, no personal cleaning materials provided. Meal quality is so-so. The only merit is proximity to the pier.

Great location & amazing snorkelling experience

Great location and beach! The jetty was located just 3 minutes walk away from the resort. After checking-in, we placed our things down and headed for the beach. The water was very clear and we saw some nice corals as well. You can head to the activity desk to rent a snorkelling mask and explore the sea. Will be back soon!

Great beach holiday away from modern connectivity

The resort is located in a small village with nothing much to do but enjoy the beach, sea, pool and food. No signal for the handphones in the hotel room. Only certain public spots had 3G and wifi. Which was great for me!

We enjoyed the stay very much. Exciting and knowledgeable tv channel Resort itself has a convenience store also. Good snorkelling too. Clean and quiet surrounding. Best is NO MOSQUITO. Meals are good too. Will stay at this resort again.

My room is 403, The toilet is in bad condition, lower part of the door was broken out in pieces and the shower tap kept giving us problem. Water alwaz out to tap n i have to squak down to shower. The cupboard also in bad condition where the door in squeezing sound when u open and close. We had very unconsidered neighbour on our 1st night, because they had party by blasting the music and shouting for the whole night till 2am. We cant find any management people to complaint about it. This was horrible. I hope the management team will look into these matter seriously. In fact, we stayed paya to pick up our diving license so the next morning, we were so tired when attending the class and practical

Loved staying here

I really enjoyed our stay here. It's a bit old and tired and not what I would really think of as a resort but I loved it. Staff were great and everything was clean and tidy. Stayed around the pond and loved watching the huge monitor lizards and monkeys.

Just OK

The room i stayed is a 2 bunk bed for 4 person. The mattress has bugs. The bed frame is wood but has termites. They need to change the Toilet appliances because it is very bad condition. For RM 200 i deserve to get better condition.

Everything is alright except for one thing, they want to charge for additional card to the room. You need the card to activate the power and air-conditioning system in the room. During day time is it very hot and the air-cond is not very effective during the day at all.

Got the deluxe suite. Room was clean. Spacious. Bathroom was ok. Lots of red ants near the bathtub though. Water in the toilet bowl after flushing was muddy brown. Showering and tap water was ok.. No wifi in room.. Breakfast was ok could be better. But defintely good for the price paid and sharing among 4 people.

Very relaxed and comfortable

Food are average, the room is very close to the beach which is suitable for swimming. It is very good for us. The staff is unfriendly.

Weekend getaway

We enjoy very much going for the half day snorkeling. First night the power trip a few times, and disturb our sleep badly. Our second night, was equal bad, as 2 rooms beside us, the guests were making too much noise, esp opening and closing the room's door and talking. We notice that both rooms were occupied more than 4 persons. We hope the hotel could have checked on this area. Indeed we found out that some of the guest actually got the hotel at half of our price :( Tioman is a beautiful and close to nature, the water is very clear. Will like to come again will try other hotel. We didn't like the ride from mersing to Tioman, the boat was not comfortable.

WiFi connectivity was available only in the lobby and restaurant areas. Some staff were very nice while some were not very helpful.

Great resort Right on the Beach

Overall, we enjoyed our stay in this resort. The room was great, they allowed us to upgrade because online there were no superior chalets available for 2 nights straight and it so happened that they had a vacant one when we arrived there. :) We loved our room, so near to the beach and we loved how the resort had everything from activities, to restaurant and room service. They also had their pool and beach bar which we enjoyed at night.
