First of all, Pan Pac Suzhou (吴宫) is definitely worth the price. The scenery within the hotel premise is really fantastic, tranquil and serene. Makes you feel like you just stepped into a majestic chinese mansion. Breakfast buffet was so super good ! We had lunch at the Haitianlo restaurant, the food was very nice and affordable! There is a laundry room at lvl 1 with free washer dryer and detergent, laundry bags were provided too. The indoor pool was heated and there was a lifeguard on duty. Our room was at the XiXiaLou side. The hotel staff were very ftiendly and helpful, doorman was also very helpful! I would definitely return here if I come to Suzhou again. Would recommend to friends and family too.
Hotel look old and not well maintains.
Rather confusing building complex with long labyrinthine corridors. Main restaurant was very average with zero atmosphere (it was perhaps early but still). Breakfast restaurant had pretty basic western offering.. and also lacked atmosphere. Service was hard to get in English (quite understandable) and at times a bit spotty (pretty sure not only cultural misunderstanding). Room itself was nicely laid out and maid service was considerate and friendly. An okay hotel but prob would next time try a less… “industrial” establishment
Both front counter and cleaners are very friendly.
Hospitable staff, neat room and great location.
Good breakfast buffet spread. Nice and peaceful hotel ground. If you do not mind a bit of walking (10-15 minute), there are many food outlets and a shopping mall
The hotel infrastructure and surrounding is very photoworthy.
High quality with unbelievable location.
Amazing amenities located on the property including a massive garden, delicious restaurant, and koi fish pond. Also free laundry service was a major plus. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Love that you can visit panmen gate park. Even though it's off season and many stalls not open, it's still beautiful, especially at night. And the hotel feels very safe.
Beautiful looking hotel.
Nice looking hotel. From the outside looks like ancient temple. The water supply in the rooms was not strong. The breakfast was go oh d as they have a variety of food. Overall, was good and nice.
Overall environment of the hotel and free access traditional park. There are no similar hotels like this.
The hotel garden was directly linked to a historical area with a beautiful pagoda. Access for hotel guests was waved and the night light and dance show was fantastic. The two restaurants we tried were were very good.
Good but not great
Lovely room and all very clean. Enormous hotel. Chinese owned and run with mainly Chinese guests. Friendly staff. Next to gorgeous scenic area with 1800 year-old pagoda. The negatives: common areas smelled of cigarettes; no room service and restaurants deserted by 7.30pm with quite ordinary food; foreign credit cards and Alipay using foreign cards not accepted so had to use cash; not particularly convenient for the sights.
excellent
Unique location.
Everything was perfect. There are no complaints.
Beautiful hotel garden!
Can have free access to Panmen which is great
Nice experience overall
Overall its a beautiful property and highly recommend to visit the park behind during the day and when the lights are on. Breakfast was a good spread. Hotel room is okay keeping in mind that it is a slightly aged property.
Very very enjoy this place - the family suite room we had was excellent and it felt like we were living in a palace. The staff was good helping us get cars and being attentive whenever we came to the lobby but they didn’t tell us about some of the perks like the night cruise and hanfu clothing which was a shame. We found out when we were checking out and walked past a sign.
It’s nice that the guests have free access to the Pan Gate scenic area. However, the direction to the guest rooms located in the annex buildings is not clearly labeled.
Beautiful hotel with the added perk of the free entrance to the Panmen park until 9pm. Rooms were ok and the grounds were spectacular although the location wasn’t really ideal in the end
The hotel was beautiful! We felt like we were back in ancient China with impeccable service. They provide free access to an ancient pagoda park which was also just delightful. The hotel has very nice food options too. It was a perfect vacation. Thank you!
Absolutely stunning hotel, the facilities were off the charts, pool table, two swimming pools (one outdoor) golf simulator, not to mention it also is a tourist attraction in the hotel itself, leading to many attractions around the area. The only downside was restaurants nearby, there’s a convenience store that is open 24 hours next to the hotel across the road. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. So good!
This is an unacceptable condition
This is my first trip with my mother. I chose this hotel because I liked 5-stars . The temperature in the room for three days was 27 degrees. I tried to adjust the air conditioner without any improvement, so that it was difficult to sleep at night. Finally, when I tried to check the air conditioner, The inside was really dirty, and it was so full of dust that the cold wind could no longer blow out. It is hard to imagine what kind of air we are breathing these days. This is a completely unacceptable situation. Due to the tight schedule, we cannot complain at that time, but I will keep following up, hoping that the situation will change.

Amazing hotel.
Amazing hotel, with access to very pretty gardens (day or night).
Location is great. The problems I experienced and ran into: 1. There are co-op students helping out at the breakfast buffet area. Many were eager to learn and help with the exception of this one girl, her expression and body language shows that she doesn't want to be there. I saw her picking her nose, putting her finger in her mouth and subsequently placing her hands in a basket full of chopsticks and rolling them. 2. There's limited dinning around/outside of the hotel. 3. The local ride sharing drivers and/taxi doesn't know where to go when they come or drop off guests...there's two main entrance to this hotel...confusing the drivers.
Some maintenance required
The hotel room feels old and not well maintained. The balcony is quite dirty. The checkin staff were busy with all the checkin and fails to acknowledge our presence even though they are not attending to us. Notwithstanding, the hotel provide free pass to Pan Men attraction. The noodle restaurant within the hotel offers decent selection of food and they are quite tasty. Location of the hotel is relatively near to some attractions. I like that the hotel provide a map showing the attractions around suzhou. I would like to commend the bell boy who helped us in booking the taxi using his phone and giving us some information which makes the hotel more pleasant. Kudos to the bell boy.
The breakfast is super!
Very clean and spacious room.
Beautiful architecture and delicious breakfast buffet
The rooms we had were noisy and mine had an old carpet smell. This hotel is due for a renovation and upgrades.
Beautiful landscaped SuZhou style garden, very relaxing, staff was friendly and accommodating. The only negative we encountered was poor air conditioning performance. Not cooling the room at all.
The front porter was extremely friendly
Very historical and pretty hotel. Impressive service too!
The hotel is beautiful and unique . Far from the downtown. No room service and very limited foreign langage speakers among the staff.
The room I got was a bit old and need some refurbishment. But the building itself is gorgeous. Value for money.
Beautiful decor; lovely garden; fun architecture, though hotel is laid out like a maze and walking distances rooms can be vast. Pools (in-door and out) are very nice. Hotel needs maintenance. Carpets dirty and worn. Furniture in room worn. Windows dirty. Staff very warm and super helpful. Eric, at Concierge desk, was particularly good. Special access to Pan Men Garden a big plus.
I really liked the service, quality, pace, integrity, rapport and atmosphere.
Beautiful property, and convenient access to the Panmen Gardens. Quite a number of the staff can speak English, some can read English, all were helpful. Only complain is the front lobby was undergoing renovations, so space to move inside the front lobby was limited. Front lobby is on the third level, so if you did not encounter a staff upon arrival, you may get lost.My friend who arrived later got lost trying to find the lobby for the first time. He did not encounter the staff at level 1 when he arrived.
The building is fascinating and the direct access to the gardens at Pan Men Gate is a wonderful amenity. The concierges were very helpful too. The #2 bus, which takes one to many of the tourist sites, stops just outside the door and runs reasonably frequently during the day and evening. We used it constantly. Do not have the Dim Sum lunch in the hotel's Chinese restaurant. It was overpriced and not very good. Also, the waiter offered us a pot of "new tea," which was wildly overpriced . We spent more on that one meal than we spent on all of the other four delicious meals we ate during the rest of our visit to Suzhou.
Great Hotel with a Great Garden
Garden and service is excellent.
Lovely Stay!
It was a very nice hotel, lovely breakfast, we love the panmen garden.
Pan Pacific
The hotel is in Avery good location, but it is tired and needs updating.
Beautiful grounds! Loved strolling through the massive garden in the evening. The location is also quite good, and being able to enter Panmen Scenic Area for free was wonderful. We did so in the morning and were able to the area in its morning quiet before the tourist crowds came.
Excellent customer service and excellent location
A good hotel but not good service
The hotel is in a quite good condition, but staffs were not that nice, some of who were very indifferent. The breakfast food were about average, nothing exciting. The service staffs in dining hall were slow, and saw no smiles on their faces. Not sure if they were not treated well, or not trained well. Anyway their attitude towards guests were not warm at all.
Staff is very friendly and efficient. Breakfast is good and hotel facilities is excellent. Overall very satisfying
Architecture is interesting. Did not like layout as it is very confusing and a long walk to anywhere you need to go. Rooms old, worn out and dirty furniture. No adapters in rooms and plugs not suitable for the in room appliances. Food cost high in the restaurant and quality medium. Staff very slow and hard to find.
We could see much of the Panmen scenic area from our window, and also took advantage of the free admission that the hotel provides.
A Rare Beauty
The hotel itself is a stunner, sprawling rather than towering, beautifully designed, fitting Suzhou's relaxed feel, and sidled up right next to a gorgeous, historical park that your stay gets you free entry to. It's not located in the most exciting part of town, but there are some solid restaurants around, convenience stores, and a quaint little bar across the street aimed, I think, at foreign guests of the hotel (the staff was very friendly and informative; I dare you not to go in there when you see how they advertise themselves and how clearly they want international clientele). The food was none too good - my girlfriend wanted to order room service the first night and everything that came was a letdown after the quality of the hotel space had raised expectations. The dish I can speak on with most authority, the pork noodle soup, was pretty gross, all things told - limp, fatty slivers of pork, bland broth, and subpar noodles, and if nothing else I can say my girlfriend's salad was a ripoff. The breakfast buffet wasn't nearly as bad as the room service food, but it was a step down from breakfast buffets in other hotels at this level around China (I only know because my job puts me up in lots of Marriott's, Westin's, Shetraton's, etc when I'm over there with them; this was a private booking). With that said, I don't mean to discourage people from staying here, because it really is a rare beauty, and you should go out to eat anyway!
Beautiful architecture and gardens. This place is a museum in itself!
Hotel is next to Panmen S Garden! A amazing ancient garden! There is a door entrance from hotel. Free for hotel guests! Hotel staffs are very nice and helpful! It’s a amazing experience!
5 star look without 5 star service
At first glance, the hotel looked superb. Just like the photos online. However, it wasn't what I would call a 5 star hotel when it came to the service provided. Having stayed at Shangri La in China before, this was nowhere near as pleasant. No one came to greet us as we arrived at the hotel nor did they help us with our luggage. Despite myself making the reservation, they didn't speak to me when I checked in, instead they spoke to my partner because they spoke Mandarin. Felt very offended by this and I had no idea what was going on during the check in process. The hotel was relatively clean inside although the rooms were quite small. At best I would rate this hotel 4 star.
Haven in Suzhou
My husband and I stayed for 2 nights in the Pacific Club King room in early Sept 18. The room was spacious with comfortable bedding and bathroom. An added bonus was the afternoon high tea and access to adjacent Panmen Garden. Breakfast spread was large with a huge variety of western and Asian fares. We throughly enjoyed the generous space, scale and architecture of Pan Pacific which, together with the excellent service of its staff in general, we will be back.
Great location. the park and restored ancient city is right behind the hotel. The hotel itself looks like a tourist attraction
Gorgeous, gorgeous property, with traditional gradens, pools and pavillions, but thats about it. - rooms are quite run down, with worn out carpets, dusty surfaces, hand prints on the glass windows, yellowed bathroom fittings. - Staff are poorly trained and a bit lethargic. We had not included breakfast with the room booking, but when we decided to have breakfast at the restaurant, we told them they could add it to the room tab and we would pay upon checkout, however we were refused entry into the restaurant, until senior staff intervened. - The breakfast spread was decent, but was served a huge sigh and eye roll when I asked for an egg white omlette. - After breakfast, we were lingering for a few minutes but were told to “hurry up and be faster.” - Ordered room service that evening — hardly any chicken in the chicken pasta and only cucumbers and lettuce in the ‘grilled vegetables’ sandwich. - The staff at the reception knew very little English, and were constantly gigling about something or the other. - During lunchtime, the reception staff told us that the restaurants were closed at the time, but later we discovered there is an ‘all day dining’ restaurant on the first floor. - Also found it very strange that we had to pay a 100rmb deposit when we asked for extra drinking glasses to be sent to the room (in spite of paying a 2000rmb deposit while checking in). ... but All that said, the property really is very beautiful!
Comfortable, clean, good location,
The hotel is well located, 2 blocks from metro and has acces to a beautiful garden. Rooms comfortable and clean. Hotel has slightly quirky layout of main public areas but not a problem. The bar area is very poor being on a balcony overlooking a very noisy dining area. Outside pool unusable. Hotel staff friendly and helpful but foreign language skill poor. I would certainly stay here again as it is good value and location is good. I highly recommend the local restaurant out the front and turn right at end of block.
Comfortable and well located.
The hotel is comfortable and well located. The layout is somewhat erratic. A bit tired I public areas. Could do with a few more staff with foreign language skills. Staff were friendly and tried to help but language was a barrier. Despite this I would recommend the hotel to independent minded travellers who want convenience and comfort.
Great Hotel, Wonderful Service
Stayed in Suzhou with my wife after a conference in Nanjing. The Pan Pacific Hotel was everything I hoped for. It is imposing, comprising a large complex adjoining a major historic garden/park. The service was exceptional -- every member of the staff was both professional and friendly, and they always delivered. There was a problem with the first room we had, and within ten minutes we were in another, better room. Many of the staff speak English. The hotel has a lot of high end facilities, and the prices are in keeping with that. We were able to secure an excellent room at an excellent rate, and were delighted to have done so. The buildings were new about 20 years ago, and in a few, mostly external, places it shows. But the rooms are well maintained, immaculate, and many have beautiful views overlooking the extensive gardens on the hotel grounds and beyond. The one consideration is that the hotel is in the south-west corner of the old city of Suzhou, and many prime sites to visit are in the north. But they are only a short taxi ride, ranging from 15 to 20 yuan, and in our opinion the quality and service of this hotel are worth that small inconvenience. And I really should reiterate that the staff are amazing.
Buffet
Best buffet in Suzhou, they have a pay 150rmb with WeChat special for the month,
Check in
We were given a room on the 12th floor that smelled like cigarettes so we complained and got upgraded to a suite on the 15th floor only to find out that evening that the air-conditioning didn’t work and had a miserable night sleep
Great choice for family
Wonderful stay. My family stayed at the Pacific Club Room, which was huuuuuge. The bed was comfortable with spacious bathroom, separate shower and tub. They also have slippers for kids, so thoughtful. With Pacific Club, we also got the afternoon tea and cocktail bar at a private lounge. Though it was all self-serving, the variety of fruits, pastries and drinks/liquor far exceeded our exceptions. And the hotel was attached to a scenic spot. A great place for a quite walk after breakfast or before dinner. Yeah, the breakfast was also great. From traditional Chinese breakfast like hot and tasty wonton soup to fresh and crispy croissant, everything was delicious. Finally, the hotel staffs were very attentive and welcoming, speaking fluent English. I really wished I could stay longer at the hotel relaxing, not running around the gardens in Suzhou all day.
Great Hotel
This is one of my favourite hotels in China. Very comfortable hotel with great location. The hotel pool is a delight for an outdoor swim on a hot day. I highly recommend an upgrade to the Pacific Club. The staff are very good, especially Sarah in the Pacific Club, whose English is very good.
Awesom
Probably the highlight of my whole trip to Suzhou. Very clean and nice staff. On awesome historic landmark!! Recommend 100%
Amazing
We stayed in the hotel for one night. It is located in the heart of the old town by a beautiful park. The hotel itself has elegant Chinese traditional design and nice staff. However the facilities are old. It's humid in Suzhou, the first floor smells moldy, especially my room which faces a parking lot.
Beautiful architecture and nice location
We stayed 2 nights in a junior suite at the hotel towards end Jun. Recommend the hotel for : - its beautiful architecture resembling Chinese city wall, various pagodas, peaceful gardens ... - private entrance to the tranquill Panmen Garden with old city wall, lake, tower ... - easy access via newly opened subway line 4 Nanmen station exit 1 which is 10 mins walk from hotel
Very nice hotel but a bit removed
Very nice hotel. Outdoor pool not in order for the three days I was there. Some maintenance issues with hotel but the hotel itself is very beautiful. Location a bit removed although there is a very nice Chinese Muslim restaurant across the street. 85C cafe is an excellent bakery and coffee shop.
Hotel fits Suzhou with a big garden as "backyard"
Hotel is built in an old Chinese building style. My room was big and comfy with 2 king size beds. There was window glass roof above the bed, you could watch the moon and stars while going to sleep. The internet wifi was fast and also able to access to google and facebook. Our hotel package includes free breakfast, tea and happy hour. Free and unlimited drinks for happy hour, with variety of snacks. Attached to the hotel is Punmen garden. Although it is not the famous garden in Suzhou, it's big, and beautiful with river, trees flowers and gold fishes. it also has historical pagoda, old city gate and temple to worship a historical person. Hotel guest can enter the garden for free and unlimited times. Shopping centers and restaurants are within walking distance. Since taxi fare is quite cheap, you can ask concierge to call taxi.
Nice Hotel with beautiful park/garden out the back
Great hotel with friendly, helpful staff and with free admission to a beautiful park/garden with old walls and canal/moat. Nice local restaurants nearby with authentic Chinese cuisine - was able to watch them make the noodles.
great hotel....very clean
Great hotel. Helpful staff and
Very good hotel but could be better
Great hotel in terms of the facilities. It is under utilized. The spa is very nice. Steam room should be cleaner but overall the sauna and exercise room are very nice. I did not eat any meals but the variety looked good. The gardens in the back are very nice. The layout is a bit confusing but I had time on this trip and enjoyed walking around. Facade is fantastic. There were not many customers. I am not sure if this is due to the season or the location as the hotel is in an older part of Suzhou. Excellent Chinese restaurants across the street. Personnel had limited English skills.
Highly recommended. Couldn't be better!
A good hotel in Suzhou
We stayed for one night. The hotel is great location and it's connected to a park. You may access the park with your room key. There wasn't many people in Pan Men park as in other parks. We enjoyed the walk in that park. The down side is that some area is very old. The hallway outside our room smells as in a zoo.
Early check out
Although we prepaid and had non cancellable rooms we checked out after 2 nights and moved to a newer hotel
Good location - with need of a little maintenance
1. We had to change rooms because the first non-smoking room was too smoky! The second had also a slight smoke smell, but was a little better. 2. The safe in the first room was not working and the door to the balcony did not lock. 3. Location was good with a park next to it with free access for hotel guests, there were good options for local Chinese restaurants for breakfast and dinner in the vicinity and the hotel restaurant was good as well. 4. A bus station in front of the hotel allowed to go to the main canal location (#305). 5. The style of the hotel remembers at Chinese buildings or temples.
Excellent hotel! Not only the hotel, but around it! I intend to return, of course!
Very spread out and disorganized hotel
This hotel is a maze of corridors, stairs elevators and hallways and will take you at least 20 minutes to find where you want. You can have fun exploring and mapping it out if you have the time. Far from the street with a long narrow driveway making it difficult to get to the street without a cab. The restaurants and fitness center has limited hours. I didn't see any special views or facilities here that I would have wanted to stay for.
Wonderful hotel at a reasonable price. The grounds are incredible and they have access to the adjoining gardens with a beautiful pagoda. Customer service was great. When we had a confusion in the booking process leaving our family room without an extra bed, it was resolved very quickly and without fuss. There are restaurants serving local cuisine nearby, which we enjoyed one evening as well. Everything else you might want to visit is an easy taxi drive away.
Nice Garden Hotel in Suzhou
2 nights in this wonderful hotel. very nice garden hotel.
resort like hotel!
Hotel is great if you are seeking space, quietness and a resort like feeling. Staff were helpful in writing translations for direction as there is very limited English in this town. Beds were soft and comfortable. A real plus! I would come back here if ever in China again. Coffee shops are in walking distance.
Good hotel, but lacks attention to details
Overall Pan Pacific is a very good hotel, well suited for business or tourism. One of the advantages of the hotel is that it has a very beautiful garden attached to it and also one of Suzhou's tourism bus lines has a stop just in front of the hotel. However I was quite disappointed with 2 points: - The room furniture is a bit worn out. - I booked the club room, which should grant a some extra perks. However most of the services that were supposed to be offered, were actually not offered or only partially offered (i.e. there was no welcome fruits in the room, no afternoon tea as announced in the website, etc.). I believe these is not essential, but if it is announced, it has to be offered! So this was a bit disappointing, but overall the stay was good.
Hotel close to amenities
It was really comfortable and I fell asleep almost right away. Its also very quiet.
Dirty
Very dirty room and hotel!!!
Fun trip!
Experience local old town life.
Nice
The bar insided the hotel closed too early.
Looks good but don't feel good
Booked and paid for 2 nights. The facade was grand and was as good as it looks from the booking pictures. This and the name of the hotel were the reasons for our decision to book for 2 nights. Once inside the hotel, the experience was not that good. The premises was huge but it was almost empty. We hardly see any other guest. It feels awkward and made us uneasy. The room wasn't great as well. Shower head could not rest properly, furniture badly scarred, TV remote control did not work properly. But we did not even bother to ask to change as we decided to sacrifice the 2nd night stay and checked out after one night.
great value family holiday stay
it's located at city centre, and more importantly it's neighbouring a most beautiful Panmen Garden
Great family holiday stay
The hotel sits together with PanMen Garden so it's very convenient to walk around. Shopping areas are quite close.
Good location
The hotel is older but location is good. Lovely traditional Chinese Bulding.
Unfortunate Treatment
Here's how my trip went. I booked this hotel for it's pools, nice view, and spa for my fiancé on Chinese valentines day. We arrived and I checked in. We got to the room, which was nice but not what I booked. I booked a room with a view and got a room facing another room. Luckily the glass was fogged, but no view. The hotel staff said that changed us floors to a better room. I think not. Next we went to the pool. It was full of children and impossible to have a nice swim. Not a huge deal, but not what I was hoping. Also, the lockers had no slippers or towels. I had to go to the lobby for my towel. There were four workers just standing around, rather than stocking the locker room. We decided to get out of the pool after 20min to just relax in the spa. We went to the front desk and was told that the spa was closed. No one was able to provide a massage, or nothing. So now, all things I booked the hotel for was changed or closed. We ended up leaving this hotel, went out for some shopping, and later went to another hotel for a nice dinner and drinks. We did look at the hotel restaurant at 7:30, but the menu was limited and there was only two other people eating there. The next morning, breakfast was not included in my package but I paid for it. I got my invoice and proved them wrong. When we went to check out, they tried to charge us for the breakfast again. Anyways, we spent more time in another hotel during this stay. I suggest to shop around when looking for a place to stay.
Very nice hotel for business and pleasure
Southern China style building with a Suzhou garden behind, access directly from the hotel, which is rather unique. Indoor and outdoor swimming pools are good to have. Breakfast is great also. It is a complicated building that you can easily get lost. Very good location, not far from downtown and train station. Value for money.
Good & Bad
The grounds and central building are pleasant. However the room overlooked air-conditioning units and shabby buildings. The room also had a cracked bath that had been poorly repaired and some very dilapidated features. The hotel is badly in need of a revamp.
A disappointing stay
Hotel facilities are good. However, the service is quite bad.
Pan Pacific Suzhou | Hotel in Suzhou | Travala.com
Location is amazing Linked to a paid park with easy access to vicinity. Lovely architecture and service was impeccable. We stayed in the suite which was very large and fully stocked with amenities. Only feedback we have was the air-conditioning which on query is actually partly centralised. Overall a definite recommendation to stay here when you come to Suzhou. In fact, I'd recommend you explore the hotel and park grounds 1st before you head out to explore Suzhou old town
