Staff are very friendly and the owner Julie is very welcoming, making you feel at home straight away. Accommodating and very nice area with a great room. :)
The perfect stay.
Wonderful stay. If you love peace and quiet then this is the place for you. Excellent food. Great pool. Friendly host.
Beautiful spot in out on the coast near Labasa. This place is secluded and quiet. Julie (owner) and Liti (staff) were really friendly and accommodating, Liti makes some delicious food, and we had a good time with some of the local village guys out snorkelling for the day. The property could use a bit of a spruce up, but still a nice place to chill out for a few days.
Very quiet and peaceful. Was good to be away from everything and be able to u wind. The host and the staff were fantastic. The property was private with an intimate setting. Was great to share stories with the other guests and the food was fresh and hand made. Great experience
Had a great meal with interesting conversations at night in the big bure. Beautiful building by the way. Slept fantastic in my small bure, no sound but nature, breathtaking views. Superb hospitality with excellent coffee morning of departure with owner. How much better can it get?! Probably not.....do visit!
Good value, can use work but has great potential
This property is wonderfully removed from the chaos of the nearby town and offers a relaxed pace. I love that it's small and personal. The owner, Julie, is passionate about the farm and area, and so dedicated to her guests. The staff were very warm and friendly, esp Liti. For the cost, it was a great value, given the included breakfast, use of kayaks, etc. The place is unfortunately in much worse shape after the death of one of the proprietors, the pandemic, and the large cyclone. The pool is out of order currently. I loved having the private bure but I had the misfortune of being there when a very inconsiderate and large group occupied the other two bures and kept me awake. (No fault of the management, obviously, but I just wanted to mention that the property is big but the bures are close together.) Julie has lots of plans for new things on the property. Before diving into those, I think the main focus should be some TLC for the rooms. My bure had great bones (tall ceilings, lots of light) but could definitely use a deep clean (windowsills, corners, ant trails on walls leading to dead bugs, etc.). There was also a wasp problem in my room that the worker said he had fixed 3 times before it actually seemed to be addressed, so there needs to be greater attention to the integrity of all the screens, etc. The hot water was not very hot, which is common in Fiji but could be improved. Overall, there's so much potential and this could be amazing with a little attention to detail.
I booked this villa for my partner as a get away for the night, It was for sure the worst we have been to, the pool was green looked like it had been like it for moths. Inside the villa looked like it hadn’t been cleaned. The floor was filthy our toddlers knees and feet where black from the floor. We stayed 1 hour before agreeing to leave. We did contact the hotel and they have issued me a refund.
The best of Fiji
I would be hard pressed to say anything negative about my experience at Palmlea. You feel like family and you are welcomed like you have gone away and you are coming home for a long winded visit. It is for the adventure travellers who want to be in a secluded area away from town, but close enough to do what you'd like. It is rustic and beautifully built looking over the many fruit trees, flowers and the ocean in the distance. You live off the land as most things are made right on the farm and the food doesn't disappoint. Could it be a bit cleaner? Sure, but maybe it just has to do with it all being an outdoor adventure. The beds were comfortable and the Bures spacious. I have only left a few days ago and already miss what feels like my home and my family. We loved our stay Julie and hope to be back to visit soon.
This place is not what is advertised. Not close to the ocean. You can “view” the ocean, but getting there is another story. You better have a 4 wheel drive to get there. There are no directions to get there. We ended up not staying at this place.
Good friedly staff and host, food was excellent.
Excellent accommodations near Labasa
Comfortable rooms, great service, authentic setting.
Relaxing rest stop
As previously arranged we were picked up and dropped at the airport by Kate( takes the worry out of trusting taxis etc.) We only had two nights and intended to take it easy. Once we were settled in our bigest decission was given to us by Multi, the cook; the dinner menu . Julie offered us a range of activities for the following day, but we chose to just relax and wander around the small farm and maybe take the short walk down to the water. As it turned out we brought much needed rain to the farm and we just chilled out! Very relaxing
Great place!
Great place! I stayed here with some family members and we all enjoyed it. A very peaceful and quite place on the countryside outside Labasa. The owner is very friendly and helpful and the food is fantastic (especially the kokoda!).
