Good staff and great location
Friendly staff, modern property.
My stay at this five-star hotel was enjoyable overall, though not without a few issues. The staff were generally receptive and responsive, but the reception team could have been more proactive about informing guests of amenities like the spa and breakfast services. The spa itself was exceptional, with staff maintaining a high standard of hospitality. The ground floor atrium was beautifully decorated, and the live piano performances in the evening created an elegant atmosphere. However, breakfast service on the second morning, during peak hours, was slow, and it was difficult to place orders beyond the buffet. Additionally, one staff member managing breakfast approached me shortly before service ended with a condescending tone, which detracted from an otherwise pleasant dining experience. On a brighter note, the chef preparing made-to-order eggs was exceptionally warm and friendly. The room was comfortable and meticulously cleaned by the housekeeping team. While the high-tech shower was impressive, there were some maintenance issues, including a defective towel warmer, loose tiles, and a sloped area outside the shower that was a tripping hazard. Persistent lighting from bedside panels was slightly inconvenient, and minibar prices were excessive for a hotel of this caliber. Despite these minor setbacks, the ambiance, spa, and overall service made for a mostly enjoyable experience.
We had an exceptional experience at the Anantara Palais Hansen during our visit to Vienna. This hotel truly lives up to its 5-star promise, exceeding all our expectations. The property is stunning, impeccably maintained, and embodies the level of luxury that American travelers associate with high-end hotels. Our rooms were spacious, beautifully furnished, and spotlessly clean, featuring large bathrooms with hot, invigorating showers. Every detail was thoughtfully considered to ensure comfort and style. The staff were outstanding—courteous, professional, and always willing to assist with a smile. Their dedication to service made our stay all the more enjoyable. Located in the heart of the Innere Stadt, the hotel is perfectly situated within walking distance of iconic attractions like the Vienna State Opera and Hofburg Palace. This convenient location made exploring Vienna a breeze. I highly recommend the Anantara Palais Hansen to anyone seeking a luxurious and memorable stay in Vienna. We would gladly stay here again on our next visit.
The bathroom was excellent, the bed was very comfortable and clean looking room.
Everythibng was perfect. Except for the digital water system in the shower that was a little unreliable
Great Hotel
The only minus it was hot weather and was very hot in the room...
Nice room but not great value for money. Room service was excellent however checkout was disappointing as there was not enough staff and it became chaotic. Fabulous location.
Beautiful hotel and room, and excellent staff
Beautiful hotel with pleasant and luxurious feel, comfortable rooms, and impeccable service. We truly enjoyed our stay and will try to come back when we are back in Vienna!
The hotel is old and doesn't feel like luxury 5 stars experience. Cleanliness needs to be improved in the hotel's rooms and corridors. Also, the smell in the hotel isn't good, and it feels like it's old and unmaintained. Despite this, the breakfast is excellent and the staff is friendly and accommodating.
This is a true five star hotel
Very clean and professional Staff
Amazing stuff , great room , great breakfast - anything you need for great vacation
This hotel is an oasis. It cannot be faulted. Totally first class
Remember that there is No option to go the pool with a child after 4pm, which they do not inform about. So it is rather family unfriendly hotel. Disappointment. The staff in spa do not speak english.
Nice property but terrible reception staff!! It is a shame that such a big investment in customer comfort is completely ruin by incapable front desk staff. It is a shame to spend 1000 euros a night and not get the service you paid for!!
Ok for a short stay
Not too bad, used to be better. Room service menu and wine list could be improved. Buffet breakfast not as good as other places.
Excellent stay. Location. Check in. Cleanses Lobby café. Breakfast buffet Room condition Thanks Onay for your help at check out
room was a bit worn
The hotel was located in a great location and close to transport links. It was clean and spacious and the reception staff were welcoming and efficient. (I had forgotten to bring a USB-A to USB-C charger for my mobile phone and when I asked the receptionist where I could buy one they found a brand new one for me behind the desk.) The room was luxurious and light, well furnished and with a large bathroom and very nice shower. The breakfast was of a high standard with a good choice of options, including a cooked one, and the restaurant was large, bright and quiet, even when quite busy. I really enjoyed my stay here and was sorry to leave.
Service was great
Large room but whole place feels a little tired and room could do with a deep clean - surfaces clearly not dusted frequently, carpet dirty. Had to ask at reception to get room cleaned as hadn’t been done whilst we were out (9-4) on Saturday so maybe not enough staff? Breakfast shambolic on first day but much better with really helpful staff on second and third days. There’s a lot of competition in Vienna and Kempinski’s current formula there isn’t a winner
Entering the Palais Hansen Kempinski felt like entering an alternate world of calm, beauty and elegance. We were in Vienna during a 90 degree stretch and treated ourselves with a night at the Kempinski to enjoy staying in a palace and for the comfort and AC. We were not disappointed. The staff, the room, the lobby strudel and the food were all exceptional.
Great
It's a wonderful building in a great location. But the service is terrible
Beautiful hotel. Friendly staff. Rooms well kept and clean. Well located centrally. Tourist hotspots within walking distance. Good transport links.
Lovely hotel, good location
Beautiful hotel, good location in Vienna, a short walk to most sights. Staff very friendly and excellent breakfast choice. Our room was huge! Disappointing to see little individual bottles of shampoo etc rather a large one for each, too much plastic. Would definitely recommend.
The staff was very helpful and the hotel was stunning.
Perfect location, beautiful hotel.
Beautiful converted Hansen architect building into hotel, excellent transport link to airport via underground and CAT Tram service nearby to access vain points of in around city and beyond Walking distance to all places of interest in inner city Staff very helpful and respectful Only improvement would be a larger swimming pool
Expected More
Hotel is a bit dated No close to main city center 15 min walk or two stops on metro
Very clean, could not fault them. But for such a hotel and given its prices, you would expect a more professional staff. The reception, concierge and doormen were perfect in their role, but the F&B staff was less than professional. From arguing at breakfast time in front of clients to not understanding basic drinks orders at cocktail times, I am not sure I will return
Exellent hotel with very good service. Loby, restaurant Edvard highly recomended. We will come back
Loved our stay
We had a wonderful stay here. The location was fabulous, the room was quiet and lovely, we had everything we needed, and truly loved everything about it
Very Nice luxurious Historical Hotel
It was great
Great location, excellent facility and service (sometimes a little slow).
Considering i stay over 15years 50-100 hotel nights a year in europe of which often kempinskis i say with good heart that have never experienced more bad service and attitude than in this hotel. The entire front office staff and food and beverage management should be fired. Lobby bar where where max 3 tables occupied could not ask ONCE if we want something to order.. when they brought new drinks after we somehow catch them they left table uncleaned of hours old snack left overs etc. But the best part was when we told 1h advance we need taxi to airport.. some utterly useless doorman who said often 5 minutes failed.. we where about to loose very expensive flights and as time passsed the incredible doorman got more less caring and said go take a train and walked away. When we politely but strongly said we expect 5 start hotel in capital find us taxi in one hour he saif what a F.. you want more from me.. i tried.. even grosses the street where was maraton. Reception was equally useless attitude and only my eventual total yelling at them and proposing one employee would use personal car ONE very nice personell Samy saved our trip. Thank You to him as he was only person worthy to be saying he works in Kempinski. I have shared this experience wih over 100 frequent business travelers i know. Ofc my Vienna friends said Kempinski Vienna is last they recommend anyway but this was top. The stay was 7.5-8.5.2022
This property is beautiful, the rooms are a good size, the staff are so nice, the breakfast is amazing, and the beds are comfortable. Definitely stay here.
Excellent Hotel.
The hotel is fantastic, gorgeous, clean, modern but classic. The staff are the most polite and accommodating people - very eager to help. The room service is fantastic - get the egg Benedict and the sweet potato with relish... insane. I really enjoyed it, and they made my work trip as easy as possible. They even had PCR covid tests that you can do from your room and have it picked up daily by a local lab. It saved me so much time and worry. I had not been to Austria in 25 years and forgot how lovely the people are there.
Housekeeping did little more than make the bed and change the towels, sometimes not even bothering to take away garbage. There is a cigar smoking room on the main floor, and it wafts smoke into all of the hallways (thankfully not into the rooms). Staff was generally courteous, but also not particularly helpful (this is a theme in Austria though, we found). Location could be a lot better as well. It's too far away from the main tourist area of Stephansplatz. Overall, a disappointing experience, and definitely not worth the 5 star price tag.
Great place but lack of healthy measures
In general we have a very nice stay the only problem is that the Chef that was serving the breakfast does not use a mask and was coughing over the food. When we talk to the hotel about it they say that they can't do anything about it and he was vaccinated. The problem with this is not only covid but other kind of virus that he can transmit
Perfect hotel! the staff is very kind, the hotel is very clean and in a good location. The room is very spacious and clean. Perfect hotrl for a perfect stay in Vienna.
The hotel exceeded my expectations. Staff was courteous and helpful, the rooms were beautiful and well appointed, and the spa treatments were top notch. The problem I kept running into, though, was miscommunication between Expedia and the hotel regarding the benefits I was supposedly eligible for as a Gold member.
Excellent staff. Stayed here before. Had to stay another night due to a screw up and hotel accommodated me without an issue. Will stay at the Kempinski again.
Perfect!
Amazing! The room, the spa, the service
Amazing hotel!
We had a wonderful 5 night stay at the Kempinski to celebrate our anniversary. The staff were superb and made our stay just perfect. Breakfast was lovely, comprising of a large selection at the buffet together with an a la carte menu. The spa is cosy but still very enjoyable. The hotel felt clean and very well maintained. Looking forward to coming back!
Want to go back!!!
Gorgeous hotel joining two older buildings with a glass ceiling and glass elevators. Superbly furnished with beautiful marble flooring in bath, a Soaker tub, separate shower with digital controls. Friendly helpful staff. Coffee maker was a little dicey. Kept putting the coffee pods in but getting hot water but I’m sure it was my error
Great location and generally nice hotel. New facilities. Rooms have everything what is needed. However the breakfast lounge does not remind of 5 star hotel.
Very friendly, welcoming, easily able to relax, very high standards consistent
Great Hotel
Great stay. As you would expect from a five star hotel. We were upgraded to a suite which was fantastic. Spacious, with everything you need for a romantic weekend. 10/15 minute walk from everything and 5 minute taxi to everything.
Location was good and the overall experience was fine. However, there were few issues: Checkin was not ideal as we had booked and paid for a junior suite for 2 adults 1 child through expedia but on arrival we were told they only have reservations for 2 people! It took a while to get it sorted. -the junior suit is in fact one room! -there is no swimming pool only a large whirlpool (jacuzzi). - the turned down service was not consistent. We received such service at every other night! - the lobby service needs improvement as you can sit there for some time before being served!
Great amazing hotel, very good location, staff are so friendly and professional, will come back again
Location of the hotel cleanliness rooms size amazing.
Great staff, rooms and facilities first class. But we tried to get into the 26 degrees bar twice, both times we waited and had to leave. And we are hotel guests!
Very nice place... simply disappointed about the price of the breakfast....which was ok but not exceptional for 42euro per person.
We lived the elegance, the furnishings and decor. The breakfast was outstanding. But most of all, the service was superb.
The beautiful room—the friendly and helpful staff—and the location-/
This is excellend place to stay The rooms face court yard you may find little dullnes havent say i have enjoyed very much very comfortable hotel to staying i will be going back
Great location near the U-Bahn with quick access to the whole city. Excellent and friendly check in. Modern and clean.
This was one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in around the world. I wish I could give a place more than 5 stars. The service was amazing. The room was incredibly spacious, elegant, and luxurious. Everything was so well thought out. It was top notch luxury from beginning to end. Can not recommend it more. I will never stay anywhere else in Vienna.
This property had the most amazing customer service. Roman (Resturant Manager) and Sophie (Receptionist) made our stay comfortable and unforgettable. The entire staff always had a smile and were willing to help in any way. The room was remarkable, comfortable, clean, with awesome amenities. I loved the in house laundry service. They picked up my laundry in the morning and it was ready by the afternoon. This allowed us to pack light. The breakfast buffet was delicious, and the wait staff were friendly, and approachable. The property location was perfect. The area was quiet, and clean. A short walking distance to the metro line. The lobby was decorated lovely for the holidays, and had an amazing vibe, that was sooo inviting and festive. We loved Vienna. Such a beautiful city, but the Kempinski made the city even more welcoming! We can't wait to go back !
The property was excellently located on the central ring road, and took approx 25 mins via City Airport Train and Underground door-to-door from the airport. It is a plush hotel with very pleasant staff. The large lobby was tastefully decorated for Christmas and was busy which gave it a nice atmosphere. We stayed in a Junior Suite as the stay was for a birthday present. The room was immaculate and very spacious, perfect for relaxing after a day sightseeing or shopping. We had drinks and food in the bar which were reasonably priced for a 5 star hotel and the food was delicious. As mentioned, the hotel was on the ring road, set well back so noise was no issue. The local area is pleasant with some banks, offices and shops. The tram stop is 100m from the front door and the underground about 200m away so access to both was extremely easy. The centre is within walking distance but is is just as easy to jump on one of the very frequent trams. I would definitely recommend a stay for a treat or sep oak occasion or if it’s within budget a regular stay.
The property is exquisite and has a welcoming staff that is exceptional in every way.
The hotel is fantastic and the staffs are very friendly and helpful. Our room 2 Junior Suite is very spacious. I would definitely stay here again and will recommend to my friends and family.
Great hotel
Great hotel, lovely room and good facilities. Really enjoyed our stay.
We liked all the current amenities all around in the room including the timeless ambiance, the accessibility to coffee machine for coffee and teal. The helpfulness of the concierges at all times was outstanding. We truly enjoyed our stay there.
A wonderful place to stay where everything just works, nothing is too much trouble and where everything is delivered to a very high standard.
A superb hotel.
Great location ideally placed for local transport and walking - superb hotel. Staff very helpful & professional. A note on late check out - hotel is busy so ask early. Stated policy is to charge a % of daily rate which is disappointing given price per night.
Best stay I have ever experienced!
Wonderful time, amazing hotel, amazing service. We will definitely go back there when we go back to Vienna!
It was a great hotel with great staff. The bell boys were always smiling, the concierge very helpful, the property very clean at all times. I called housekeeping for extra supplies a few times and they were up in a few minutes. Great overall experience.
Nice location. Classy hotel. Issues with check-in and out. Their system did not show pre-paid reservations- took a 3000+ Euros deposit and unable to correct their error until full check out - even at that time again had to prove the pre payment..... annoying to say the least! Issues also with breakfast included with the reservation!
Generally first class; however, they provide a tablet to request services significant problems with room service no description of the food just pictures for example three of the same salad with three different prices plus could not make an special request like cheese on a burger or salad dress on the side. Coffee machine broke down and not fixed 2 requests
We had such a wonderful few days and had an amazing reception from Armin. We upgraded our room on checkin and i am delighted we did as it really made our trip! Looking forward to coming back again in the future Many thanks Samantha
It’s was totally elegant! Not much I didn’t like
Great breakfast, room and gym, as well as staff Was an exceptionally nice hotel, well worth the price
Beautiful place, great service, close to public transportation.
The property is in an excellent location and the staff were exceptional. From the moment you arrive you are given first class treatment delivered with smiles.
amazing
It was an amazing stay. Beautifull room. Overall a fantastic hotel.
Great hotel, good location, vsry good staff and great service
Great hotel
Hotel was nice - liked the free water/soft drinks in the mini-bar - turn down service did not have chocolate found in most 5 star hotels. Bed was comfortable and room was in great condition.
Service in Lobby was slow. Furnishings in our room looked nice but several items had broken doors when attempted to use. Limited Room service menus for dinner.
Beautiful hotel with impeccable service and very helpful staff. It's expensive but great things always are.
Luxury!
One of the best hotel stay I ever had. It is a luxurious hotel with excellent amenities. It is on the most important street of Vienna. Still it is very quiet. Staff are amazing. I would visit it again and again .
The staff who we came across were very accommodating from day off arrival till departure. From entrance staff to reception, concierge were well trained. The egg chef on the following morning could have some smiling face comparing to the chef on day of departure. You may observe him. Thanks for the upgrade. We will return to stay again in the future.
Very nice hotel and well equipped for any type of travel, upgraded due to VIP+ by Expedia.
Staff were fantastic, very very helpful. Only two downsidea really, the bedroom was very hot and almost impossible to cool down, even with the Air Con in there. The other thing is the spa; it feels a bit lacking by not having a proper swimming pool, and more importantly no hot tub.
We loved this hotel - superb facilities and service. Everyone was really friendly, attentive and helpful. Really comfy beds, great spa. Good location too!
This hotel is stunning. A beautiful, peaceful retreat within walking distance of attractions and transport links. Staff were so helpful and friendly. Rooms are incredible and the apple strudel is fantastic. We will definitely re coming back.
This hotel is beautiful, the staff is super kind, the location is great... it couldn’t be better!
Excellent staff, excellent location, perfect breakfast but the restaurant is average at best. Nice gym and spa.
I loved how the staff were always there to help you out with anything you required, wonderful experience
This was a great hotel in all respects. Staff friendly, amenities superb and location fantastic.
Excellent Hotel very central and great stuff to help when needed. The room was very nice as well. Great bar and the breakfast was 5 stars as well. The concierge was top and booked me for the best venues and restaurants.
Wonderful hotel & professional, knowledgeable staff.
Lovely old hotel in pretty good location for walking. We had a Hansen suite which was amazing. Old, yet contemporary decor, lovely and clean with a huge bathroom and comfy bed. Would stay there again !
An excellent hotel, with good facilities. Staff were friendly, yet a lack of attentiveness were disappointing at times during my stay.
Amazing hotel and everything about it.

Staff were great, especially the concierge who helped us sort out our trains to Budapest. Only negative was check-in. We had prepaid for an expensive room only to be told when we checked in that the room was not available. The front desk tried to upsell us to a room that was $100 plus higher a day than the room we paid for. We politely refused and said we wanted the room we paid for - and magically the room became available. Our superior room supposedly had a balcony with a view, more like a false balcony with no views.
