Upon arrival was asked for 20 deposit and given the key. Was told our room was downstairs which had threadbare carpet and not proper sized stairs. There were no signs showing where rooms are. Upon entering the room the room was cold unhoovered and looked awful and not suitable for 2 guests. The TV did not work and the bed was very uncomfortable with a sheet and blanket continental breakfast was disgusting and dirty cutlery was provided. I would not recommend this place to anyone and would not stay again
Rooms rather small and cramped. Catering staff attitude pleasing however reception staff & service could be better,
No service exists at this hotel. The general condition of the rooms are appalling. No elevator means a horrible climb. Blankets and duvets are to be avoided completely. There was no breakfast available during my stay, despite my preferred time being documented. Electrical outlets inoperable. Front dedk will not charge phones or assist eith charging elsewhere. Taxi requested was supplied by t h e hotel and charges above normal rates. It was filthy and unkempt.
Get what you pay for
Very, very basic but room was clean and tidy
No working shower in stair only 4th fl room
Great location. Very small single room (which was fine) located up 10 flights of stairs on the 4th floor. Jaded decor. Bed was OK, but in the morning no water making it to the shower, so no shower. Didn't have time to sort anything else out. Overall, disappointing.
4th floor no elevator also the shower is broken ant not so clean
Generally satisfied guest
It was satisfactory but breakfast could be in proved
Room 402 Complaint SENT 2 DAYS AGO WITH NO REPLY SO FAR. With images to support my email ! Hello, I was advised by your receptionist to send this email. We stayed in your hotel from Monday 16/09 to tuesday 17/09. Since we had an awful experience at your hotel. For starters the shower tap was not working. As you opened it , it would not stay opened making the water temperature freeze or be too hot. You’d have to hold the tap as you showered. Which we couldn’t do. We did not have a shower last night. As we noticed that and being on the 4th floor I picked up the phone to call reception and inform of that but the telefone wasn’t working. I had to google the hotel reception number and call it via my cell phone. There was an dirty mug amongst the clean ones and spider webs on the wall. Your receptionist said that he could do anything because he isn’t the manager. So I would like to reach out to the person responsible for this and request my refund giving the circumstances we had to stay. I have just done a surgery yesterday which I also made your receptions aware of and all he said to me last night was that he didn’t have any other room for us, nor he could do anything because it was late. I couldn’t leave again I had done a surgery I can’t keep moving. I hope to hear back from you soon. Regards,
It was a good hotel. My stay was fine. I liked that It was centrally located and I could access the London transport. I would use again if needed.
Good place to stay
Good place to stay, lovely location with nice pub close by. We liked the neighbourhood too.
Breakfast was included. Basic but nice. Wifi only reaches a few rooms on the first floor near the lobby.
The staff was very a commodating but the entire building needs an overhaul!
Grim bathrooms and terrible bedrooms.
One of the worstg bathroom experiences ever! The showers backed up so one had to stand in ankle deep water. The hair dryer did not work so my other half had to go out with wet hair in London winter. We only checked in to have a shower as our newly renovated flat round the corner did not have hot water yet. Not worth even the small amount we payed. I cannot imaging starting there.
Good value for location
It’s good value for the location, breakfast included which is fine. Rooms Torres and small, some much smaller than others. We appear to be offered the smaller than others in spite of being frequent overnighters.
Dissapointed
The duvet was dirty and had staines, the tv wasn’t working. The room and the hotel were smelling funny. It was very noisy. I booked for a night but left after a few hours. I haven’t received my deposit room back, even if i have the receipt.
Not enough ventillitioan in the room in the top bed. Walking space too n arrow. But Hotel staff very friendly and helpful.
The price reflected the amenities. Having stayed at a number of 2 and 3 star hotels in the area I would stay again. Shower and bathroom seem to have been recently renovated.
Close to shops and tube station
Good location.basic hotel.clean sheets.no lift so plenty of stairs.
Go prepared. Take ID, cash deposit, a mug & milk
Only 1 small cup and 2 milk portions provided. No glass or toothmug. Such a large kettle that it could be filled only by using the cup! So no real understanding of how the room might actually be used! Breakfast was better than expected with hard boiled eggs included.but no entry after 9:15am and 15 minute entry slot is booked in advance so I have always skipped it previously. Checkout 11am but who wants to climb 4 flights of stairs again?
Nice
It was an ok trip. Not wow but ok. The room was a bit small but I slept ok.
Palace Court Hotel
Not good at all. I was taken aback when they asked me to pay £20 deposit by card in the event of losing a key. It took days for that £20 to paid back after checking out after my stay and needed it to pay for elsewhere to stay as I was stranded in London because of the bad weather. The staff did not care about my predicament. The room was dirty, in need of renovation, sash windows with a draught coming through, frayed carpets, shower in need of replacement with a dirty shower head. The bed was clearly not washed for my stay. There was a smell of someone else's skin, on the bed sheets. No excuse for this uncleanliness in this day in age. Staff in the breakfast room where rude. I had to ask twice for coffee to be stocked up and he put a minimal amount of coffee into the flask. The buffet breakfast was chaotic. I will never return. I stayed in a cheaper hotel in Ilford after staying there and the room was far superior, clean. I have stayed in budget hotels in the likes of Paris, Rome and Madrid which were clean.

Good location
Noisy, dirty, smelly, cold, no hot waterf
Noisy, dirty, smelly, cold, no hot waterf!!! Try to ignore this place sn go for something nicer like Travelodge in Finshley
Nothing special
It was ok for the price nothing special.
The only good thing about this hotel was the location. It was dirty it smells the rooms are ridiculous having to go upstairs in the room to get to a double bed which has a about a foot and a bit above the bed meaning you can’t actually stand up. The shower door doesn’t close so the floor is soaked when you get out of it. The bannister to the upstairs was so wobbly you darent touched it. Sounded like there was people walking above you all night. You get one tiny pancake pillow and one thin blanket like you would in a hot country although the room was so hot you didn’t even want that on you. No one tells you where to have your included breakfast or what time breakfast starts and finishes. And when you arrive even though you’ve paid for your room the ask for another £20 deposit in case of damages! I absolutely would never stay here again and hope I never have to endure another night like that again
Decent
Not the greatest hotel but for the money i couldn’t complain. I had a comfortable night of sleep though so all in it did the job.
The room was very small and only had one socket for everything We didn’t mind as it was just a base for us however the thing that bothered me was climbing 6 flights of steep stairs each time. I would definitely be asking where my room was before booking again
Could be better
Myself and my partner we stay for 1 night in this hotel and be honest could be a better place if the breakfast can be different offered.. was not any hot food and a better buffet with a good selection of juice. but overall was good. I can recommend to my friends but just to have something cheap during their trip. I can advice to be more flexibility for breakfast And will be excellent if they can offer lunch and dinner will be the best...
Just minimum
For the price in Central London it was all right. The room is very small, which I did not mind. No elevator, so I had to climb 3 narrow old staircases each time I went out, OK for me, but I saw a lady breathing hard and stopping the middle.
Bad manage and discourtious management.
On arriving I was assigned a 5th floor walkup. At 82 and disabled this was unacceptable for me. They made me very uncomfortable asking for a room closer to the ground floor and I was admonished for but reluctently given a change of room. The third day my key twisted and was bent in the lock. I reported the incident and the lock was replaced. I watched the replacement and it was very obvious the lock was old and completly Frozen and no falt of mine that the key twisted in the lock. I however was charged 20 pounds for breaking the lock which was obviously a maintaince problem on thier part. Their response to my complaint was rude and unacceptable. Would never stay their again
A good budget option
Great location, decor a bit dated but a really good value hotel - ideal for an overnight stay in the centre of London
Budget hotel exactly what you pay for
Overnighter . Room basic but adequate. Breakfast cold buffet and toast but it was cheap and we'll placed for access to tube so can't complain - it did what I needed.
Satisfactory budget hotel
Comfortable, secure room with clean private toilet/shower facilities and a good breakfast. The building & fittings are all a little worn & tired, but perfectly functional for a budget stay.
Get what you pay for
Cheap hotel, not the ritz but get what you pay for... for a cheap night I would stay there again
visit to london
room far to small for 3 people and no facilities in room 103
NOT a couple of croissants with Jam
very good value and the vegetarian breakfast was AMAZING not a couple of croissants with jam! 2 types bread to toast, several cereals, HOT MILK PORRIDGE water, fruit juice coffee all manner of spreads eggs cheese and fruit salad,a wonderful surprise strongly recmd for anyone vegetarian or not.
Hygene I thought was poor especially in shower
Good Basic Value
Good basic value and got an upgrade providing more space
Basic, comfortable accommodation in a very accessible part of central London.
london business trip
very disapointing stay
I stayed one night packed up and left the next day
Worst hotel/motel I ever syayed in, in my life. The noise in the street was like a riot without the violence in full swing till the early hours of the morning
Rubbish
It was a run down dirty smelly hotel
Good for students.
Place was ok but toilet doesn't flush properly had to flush five times in a row before it made a difference. Room was small but clean. Convenient location.
Good for the money
I think the place was perfect for the money. When you stepped out on to the street you can see the Eiffel Tower. I walked to Eiffel Tower in 25 mins.
Another perfect stay
Never fails to provide us with the service that we like. It's clean; convenient: good value and very friendly
Disappointed
Very disappointed, was given very small room without ensuite
Average Hotel
Room was small and I was put in the Basement room. Stairs were too steep. There was no internet access from the rooom. Had to sit at reception for internet access. Reception was just too small
Good value for money for central London.
The room was far too smaller than photographs on the booking site. The staff members are friendly enough but the ladies' fashions are a bit too casual for hotel staff. That made it a bit difficult to tell who's staff and who's guests.
DO NOT BOOK THAT HOTEL "disgusting"
i wish i didn't book that hotel. i have never stayed anywhere worst than that hotel. receptionist boys were very unwelcoming, room was smelly , no shampoo, no WIFI, no body wash provided. very noisy. just a waste of money. i am glad is over i WILL NEVER EVER STAY in that HOTEL even if is free.
Think twice
Very average, hot water failed, room wasn't as advertised, very small clostraphobic feeling, mattress had springs poking out, and doing renovations throughout the day very noisey. Thumbs down from me
Better than I thought.
I booked this hotel in advance with a New Year discount. Later I looked at the reviews and was horrified to see that some said there were bedbugs and mice. I realised my booking was no cancellable and non-refundable. I then realised the reviews I looked at were a year old and the recent reviews were much better so decided to go anyway and if I saw any bugs book in somewhere else. I even bought a bed bug net to cover myself in bed. When I arrived the girl on reception was polite, I was on first floor so did not have to face lots of stairs as other reviews suggested. The room was very small but for the price I paid I did not expect bigger, the bed had a nice cover and was comfortable; but it was pushed up against the wall and when I peered down the side next to the window there was dirt on the skirting boards and radiator. Didn't look like anyone hoovered under the bed. On the bright side the loo flushed fine, the shower was clean ,worked and had good hot water. There was soap and clean towels and a kettle with coffee and tea. There is no wifi in bedrooms but did not expect that at the price. The TV was flat screen and on wall - it didn't work at first but when I managed to get it working had lots of channels. Seemed such a quiet road but it was very noisy at night, so not good if you have trouble sleeping. The breakfast had good coffee, but not great food, but then this is a very cheap hotel. They gave me my £20 deposit back straightaway when I checked out.
Another great stay
This friendly hotel in a great location never fails to disappoint.
DO NOT STAY HERE!
DO NOT STAY HERE! Racist staff!
Good location
Clean, quiet and friendly hotel. Good location, close to tube stations, restaurants and shops. Would stay here again if I return to London.
Tatty rooms
Typical old central london space. Tatty carpet floors Broken showers Minimal toiletries Cleaning staff useless
A night in Notting Hill
I was there for a friend's birthday party. The hotel was very close to the venue and well priced. The lady on reception was very pleasant on my arrival. I was given room 408, on the top floor. No lift but good for the legs! A clean room with shower, coffee maker. A very comfortable single bed.
Value for money!
Good location but hard to find. Princes Square is in bits and it's at the end of a road the opposite side of which is Leincester Sq. Small room, single really, with a double bed against the wall. Not much room but OK. Warm and bathroom OK. Didn't fancy breakfast. Very cheap for London and would certainly stay again.
no lift
I like the hotel, very central, always clean and staff very nice..comfy bed and clean sheets..would go to the palace court again for sure.
Handy area
Basic and dated/shabby, but clean sheets, warm, hot water, staff OK. Good location.
Staff were very helpful, friendly and polite. Enjoyed stay and liked area. I had to declare an honst lower score for room, because it needed to be changed due to the rubber stripping around window frame was broken and let in allot of cold during a very cold night. However staff provided a much nicer room in rectification.
Excellent Hotel near tourist attractions.
I had a good experience staying in this hotel. Pleasant staffs. Walking distance from main transportations such Bus stops, Tube Station. Also good restoraunts.
rude staff
after re-booking a bigger room, they tried to convince me to stay in the smaller (cheaper) one. 3 different staff tried to do so, they even knocked at my door to suggest me staying in the cheaper one. If I wouldn't stay in the cheaper one, I had to wait for the other room outside the hotel for 2 hours.
the staff is unacceptably rude. People, I believe the staff themselves, are banging at the door at around 1 o'clock in the morning. The room itself was moldy inside.
Handy place for a few nights
Needed a pad in London for a night and this did fine. Room small but ensuite. Staff friendly.
bed bugs, fleas!!!!
avoid please
Basic hotel
Facilities in the hotel lacked massively. Staff were unhelpful and not friendly or welcoming. Breakfast was terrible and we ate out every morning
Night staff he was so rude, I booked on 14th he told me he didn't have any booking for me, telling me come in the morning to get refund. Had to call hotels.com to sort it out He didn't even apologise for this, don't ever stay in this hotel. So disappointed
Great location near several underground stations. Cute pub across the street and a decent complimentary breakfast in the mornings.
Very convenient location next to Kensington Gardens, Notting Hill and Paddington; it is close to the city centre by train (Oxford Circus and Piccadilly Circus stations), only 5 stops from the Central Line (Queensway Station) and 6 by using the Circle Line (from Wayswater, one transfer needed). Poor service, some staff very rude, fair breakfast. Location the best!
Good thing we were too exhausted to care
Grubby, small, the bare cheapest minimum of everything. Only an overhead light, no table of any kind, nowhere to put anything, kettle on a small ledge that would not reach the plug, had to boil it on the floor and it kept cutting out. Noisy all night long (a Monday) Door did not shut properly. Bedding and curtains looked decades old, curtains didn't want to pull across. Scratchy old horse blanket on the bed. No wifi in rooms. However the sheets looked clean and the bed was ok. Would not recommend or stay again
Woeful
Quite a woeful hotel really, even if it is in West Kensington.. Hotel service was bad as I was promised a free breakfast in the morning but I didn't receive.. rude staff and uncomfortable room. Avoid if you can!
Simple hotel in central London
Simple stay for a night. Provided everything we needed, bed and shower. It's at the corner of the street and tends to be a bit noisy in the night as there are many hostels around. Bed covers could be cleaner. Great location! Can't stress that enough. Close to two tube stations on different lines, just a 5 minute walk, can basically get anywhere in London: Bayswater Station and Queensway Station. Close to lots of eateries and convenient stores. But not too close that it's too busy. 5 minute walk to Hyde Park. Overall satisfied with my stay for the price I paid.
I was staying for a conference
The hotel was really clean and the bed was comfortable. Very close to kensington and walking distance to the museums and hyde park. It's a 20 min walk to south kensington underground station. Quensway and bayswater are also really close. The neighbourhood was nice and safe. The only problem was noise. I could hear people walking and laughing on the hotel stairs and the window could not be closed all the way. Overall it was a really good experience. I would definetly stay there again but i would chose another room. And yes rooms are tiny, but that's the case everywhere in london
Decent. Adequate for family sightseeing.
Adequate hotel for sightseeing with little time spent in room. Great access to all neighborhoods. Quiet residential neighborhood. Family room consists of loft for 3, with no room to stand up (our kids are in their 20s and range from 5'7" to 6'3" and hit their heads several times) and lower room for 2. Tiny bathroom but great shower. Very good breakfast for filling up before sightseeing with eggs, canned fruit, yogurt, cereal, bread, jam, nutella, peanut butter, coffee, tea, juice. Needs better upkeep (rooms need a good coat of paint). Suggest management clean outdoor area for relaxation (full of trash instead of making most of area outside lower level rooms for relaxation access). BEWARE NO Lift and NO air conditioning (uncomfortable in July). All said, I might stay here again.
My stay
Was average nothing special
Okay for short stay
Uneventful, please put in your hotel descriptions no elevator
A little disappointed
Rooms were old and in poor condition. Although the sheets were clean, the blankets and bedspreads appeared dirty. Breakfast was good. Service ok. No free internet in the rooms. Location excellent. Overall for the cost, pretty ordinary. I wouldn't stay there again. There are many hotels nearby that are significantly better.
Near to Bayswater and Queensway tube station.
Simple and light breakfast. Staff are approachable but some is not very helpful. When asking for advice on traveling or direction, some not really helpful and unable to assist.
Great budget hotel
Great budget hotel.Very good position (zone 1).
great location, reasonable price
had a ground floor room. good shower, clean, old tv screen, basic but ticked the boxes. Have an half hour slot for continental breakfast which was basic.
Would not do again
It was very very small and smelt like Mildew. The evening staff were rude. There was an unreasonable charge if you got any make up on your towels and the toilet did not flush right. Glad I was only there for 6 hours!
very basic but cheap
Hotel has a good location, is about 5 minutes walk to an undergroun station.
Good location + Cheap!
The hotel is not going to win any awards, but where it succeeds is price. It's hard to be very critical when you're paying so little for a room.
OK for the price
I had a tiny room on the third floor (no lift). It was quite cold as the radiator didn't work. Didn't really bother me as I only slept there. The shower was scalding hot and couldn't be adjusted. The breakfast was quite good though.
Very small, noisy and no wifi.
Situated on the Prince's Square (and not to be confused with another Palace Hotel on Prince's Square: also on a corner) I had to wait to be checked in due to an unmanned reception. I had a double bedroom on the third floor (up two flights of narrow stairs followed a flight of even narrower stairs) to enter a room which smelt strongly of paint (the paint smell would disappear over night, but be back by the following evening) to find a double bed squeezed up against three walls (so there would be no way for a second person to get in or out) with a headboard propped up on the floor next to the rat poison. The "head" side of the bed was against the single glazed sash window (with thin curtains: glad I was on the back without a street light) facing a TV which didn't work. The wifi also didn't work. The bed had two thin thread-bear covers on it and seemed reasonably clean. The kettle, hairdryer and lamp needed an extension (with frying cables and which sparked when plugged in) from the sole socket at the bottom of the bed. The room did have a narrow wardrobe which I could just about fully open before it hit the bed. However, I could not fully open the en-suite door because of the wall - and if there was any one wider than me, they would not have been able to get in to the shower (which was not supplied with any shower gel etc).
Clean and near to station
The hotel is near to bayswater station. The room is a little bit small but as long as it is clean and neat, is ok.
Very basic
The hotel and the rooms are very basic! The room was clean, but they use bad cover which definitely needs to be changed. I would only recommend this hotel to people that need a bad and are not fussy. The shower was broken and breakfast is only served until 9:15 during the weekend. It most of the hotels breakfast is served until 11:00 during the weekend.
PALACE COURT HOTEL is a two-star hotel.
I made reservations at PALACE COURT HOTEL because the name of the hotel attracted me. The hotel is in good neighborhood, and is within walking distance to The Underground, and bus lines. Continental breakfast was adequate yet this hotel was not competitive considering other hotels in the neighborhood.
Nice hotel close to bus routes
First impressions of the room were disappointing. It was very small, in fact the fitted head board was for a single bed so it probably was a single room that had a double bed pushed against the wall. But the room and bedding were clean, the en suite shower/toilet was good with plenty of hot water. There was a kettle and coffee/tea, a flat screen television and hair dryer. The room was nice and warm and quiet. The continental breakfast was excellent, cereals, toast, fruit, yoghurt, cheese and boiled eggs and plenty of tea or coffee and orange juice. The restaurant staff changed the table cloths after each guest and they were friendly and polite. So, for the money we paid for a central London hotel it was good value. I have said I wouldn't recommend this hotel to a friend but given the above description it would be for them to decide. If we just wanted a room for the night, as we did this time, we would stay there again. We had a good meal in the pub opposite.
Easy access to most of London's attractions.
Being just a ten minute walk from Queensway underground station, the hotel was convenient for most of London's sights and attractions. We stayed for two nights, and were fortunate to be given a ground-floor room. We found the room to be adequate for our needs, clean & simple, and being able to start the day with breakfast, albeit very basic, was a bonus. If we were staying in London for longer than two days, maybe we would have booked something a bit better, but this hotel served our purpose. As a short-stay hotel, I would recommend it. But maybe not suitable for families.
Its good
Bad experience
Hotel was a glorified hostel, room and furniture look like they were from mid 80's. Shower was tiny and leaking. There was a hostel next door and due to poor quality windows you could hear all the conversations that were ongoing for most of the night in the street. Curtains would not close
Not quite the Furchester
I booked the room on the day at an incredibly good discount. I think that is how the room that I was in should be let - when someone has nowhere else to stay. The room was very basic and extremely small (single bed plus ~1ft) with an uncomfortable bed. It was also on the fourth floor and there are no lifts, bear in mind this is an old building with service staff stairs and tall floors. If you absolutely need a place to stay at short notice and can get the discounted rate then take this place. If you have slightly more time to book and your budget stretches toward the three figure mark go elsewhere that does comfort and a hot breakfast. Remember that your trip to London will probably be tiring and you want a good room at the end of the day.
Never stay
Some of the staffs at the reception were very unfriendly! I didn't feel we were treated as guests. In addition, leaving luggages were required to be picked up before 6pm. I have never heard such requirements!
Terrible..
Palace Court was too bad with its unfriendly staff. The room was very dirty and the bathroom was smelling bad. Wifi was not working in the room. In addition, even we paid the total amount while reserving, the receptionist took twenty pounds from our credit card for deposit. If we did not have enough money in our credit card, we could not stay there. I cannot suggest Palace Court to anyone.
business hotel convenient
plain ordinary hotel in good neighbourhood best part was price.
n palace
The stay was awful, the room was in a basement that smelt damp, and of gas, the bed was well past its sell date, and the basement area outside the window was filthy and smelt and had a sewer. the room was noisy even though we were told it was a quiet room, and a regular guest always books it, and at 9pm we were going to leave and sleep in the car, but a new chap on reception gave us a nicer room, never again will we book this hotel, there were plenty of empty rooms, but shaun on reception said they were over 100 ponds a night, well an empty room earns nothing, surely half price is better than nothing, far too greedy, and a better room brings the customer back, the photos on the web need redoing, iy makes your web site look incompetent.
