it was very quiet in the midst of hustle & bustle outside The water heater wasn't working properly was a drawback.
Very friendly staff.
The hotel is at good location and staffs are very friendly and helpful. One complaint is that water pressure is very low in the shower.
Excellent value, right in the centre of Ubud.
Ubud Retreat was a delightful place to stay. Wonderful room, comfortable and clean. Breakfast was deljvered to our room at an appointed time - a beautiful plate of tropical fruit and delicious omelet and a large glass of freshly squeezed fruit. The swimming pool was good too. Quiet although so close to everything. A great stay
Well located
Great location. Close to everything, yet quiet and peaceful. Pool right outside the door and beautiful gardens. Clean and spacious rooms. Lovely breakfast brought to the balcony every morning by friendly and helpful staff. Couldn’t ask for anything more really and would definitely stay again 👍
Quiet and easy to go to Ubud Center. Fewer amenities and cleanliness.
Rooms were decorated nicely, great view through the large sliding doors through to the pool and garden in the morning. Staff were very helpful and polite. Location is perfect with restaurants a 2 min walk away . Beautiful and clean will be back.
Very quite road and easy access to everything. The staff are very helpful and friendly.
Could have had a safe in the room to store valuables
The hotel is amazing, great location in Ubud. Walking distance of the monkey forest (highly recommend). Staff are helpful and friendly. We booked a room without air con but was fine as had a ceiling fan.
Good Luck.
Hello, The staff was nice, professional and let us leave our luggage for a bit after check out. The breakfast was brought right to our room. It was very good. The consition was a little poor. The windows were large enough for a man to step through and did not lock. The shoewer house leaked so bad that water did not come through the shower head unless you held it high and upside down. As I was entering to take my shower, the famous last words from my lady as she exited was “good luck”. Fixing the shower should be a priority. Renting a room when knowing the shower is just wrong / bad business. One last thing - how do you clean a shower when rocks are piled around the floor - gross.
We enjoyed our stay here, Ubud is awesome! Our room was at the end of the retreat which was very private with a pond and bridge leading onto our balcony. All the staff were lovely. Breakfast is served to your room but is limited to eggs which was fine for me. Really liked the open shower area. The pool is small but well maintained as well as the garden. Ideally this is suited for a couple but it still worked out well for myself and 2 kids. Its just a short walk up and down the lane to the main shopping strip with market and restaurants closeby. No safety box is the only negative. Overall great value! Thanks for a memorable stay here I'd definitely be back. Mark, Sam and Michaela. Melbourne, Australia
Five days in Ubud
Very kind and hospitable staff. The hotel is in a great location and within walking distance to many restaurants, shops and attractions, but off on a quiet side street.
Amazing so happy on every level was no nervous to book through a online site an wow you both delieverd the padma retreat and also Expedia thank you
Breakfast was poor
Nice small guesthouse which is less than a 5 min walk from the Main Street in ubud. Very quiet and private with small pool. Breakfast delivered to your patio every morning and tea and coffee is given every afternoon. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Would recommend.
A week in Ubud
We had a really lovely stay at the Padma. The staff were great , the room is comfortable and clean , nice balcony to sit and enjoy breakfast and afternoon tea . Right in town but up a quiet street . They take pride in the place . Really great .
Lovely retreat
Amazing stay. Staff are so friendly and breakfast is delivered to your balcony every morning. Perfect stay! Thank you
Girls trip
Myself and 2 friends had booked one of the Padma rooms. It wasn’t obvious during booking that the room didn’t have air conditioning or that there wouldn’t be a safe. I thought it was pretty standard to have a safe! When we asked the hotel about the lack of safe they said the area was safe. There was a fan in the room, but it didn’t really help much, especially as there were three of us in the room. The bathroom was constantly boiling. The shower was good and powerful. There was a foisty smell throughout the room and bathroom, especially in the wardrobe, so we couldn’t use it. The included breakfast on the veranda was quite good - we gave our orders the night before. There was gap in the sliding doors unless they were both pushed to one side, so bugs/reptiles were able to get in. We came back after being out for a few hours to find the bathroom infested with huge ants. The hotel were able to provide a spray to kill them, but not ideal!! I wouldn’t stay here again.
Great location close to main street and markets, nice quiet area and great pool, rooms are nice and big
rustic tranquility
Overall the stay at Padma Ubud Retreat was pleasant. However, shampoo should have been included in the toiletries provided to hotel guests.
Nice and peaceful. Although there is a dog there but its okay.
Tranquility in the centre o& Ubud.
A haven of rooms with terraces around a pool, all in lovely gardens. It’s quiet but just a couple of minutes’ walk the centre of Ubud; and has a laundry, spa, and exceptional Itslian restaurant on its doorstep. It is very clean and breakfast is served on your terrace.
The room was adequate but the pillows were hard. There was no fridge which would have been handy in the hot climate. The bathroom was smelly when locked up so we had to leave the windows open all the time. Only soap supplied in bathroom. We had our own area outside which was nice and a bit more private than some rooms. The location was very handy to everything. Good clean pool and very friendly staff.
Quite clean Nice place
Good all the way around. Certainly there are less expensive options. But for the quality it's a great value, nice pool
Location was Good as it was close to city center. Our room was quite spacious and clean. Bed was very hard and bath towels could be replaced as it was quite thin. Breakfast menu which was included in room rate would have been a lot better if it was local cuisine and not western breakfast.
Clean basic hotel close to the action in Ubud. Friendly staff and daily breakfast.
No lift, deep inside a small alley
No lift, which I think they supposed to mention it in ther listing because customers will know beforehand. Early morning also no water, you will be surprise when you need it the most. Each room doesn't have a phone, so customer must call their handphone which not always answered.
Terrific location and staff couldn’t be more lovely but despite looking quite updated the shower literally was a “mist” - couldn’t even wash the soap off...and our balcony doors wouldn’t shut properly and banged all night and let in mozzies and insects. Felt it was very overpriced. Sorry guys.
Fantastic
Best hotel that we’ve stayed in out of the three we’ve been to in ubud. Highly recommend
Small place with 12 rooms, close to Ubud’s Main Street. Very comfortable and quiet amongst beautiful garden and pool setting.
Beautiful place. The staff are wonderful and very helpful. Quiet location but still walking distance to downtown Ubud. We were very pleased with the extra touches like serving juice on our arrival, tea/coffee during the day, flowers/petals in the room, beautiful shower stones...etc. Breakfast was delicious.
Hotel staffs are very friendly. Room was very clean.
Excellent!
The staf was lovely and very helpful. The location was perfect with the main street only a two minutes walk away. Easy access to everything you need. No trouble with noice, only a rooster in the morning. Breakfast was great, with different options and a plate of fresh fruit every morning. Wifi connection was good. They clean the room every day. New towels every second day, or whenever requested. Will definitely return if ever back in Bali again.
Beautiful place, our 2nd time here. Nice cold pool as a lot of places the pool can be like a warm bath, not refreshing after a hot day. This is not a place for small children and pay the little bit extra for a pool access room. Absolutely brilliant, intimate and friendly and excellent breakfasts delivered to your patio. Thank you Patma
Perfect location
Family feel. Small hotel. Exellent staff and a perfect pool. Just a minutes walk into Ubud central. Also beautifully quiet.
Peaceful oasis
Lovely peaceful oasis amidst the hustle and bustle of Ubud. Very personal and friendly service. Lovely pool. We had a pool access room which we would highly recommend. Great breakfast served on our personal terrace at the time we requested.
Close to everything but quiet
I really enjoyed my short stay at the Padma Retreat. It's super close to Jl Monkey Forest and all of the eateries along the way but it's far enough to be super quiet and relaxed. The pool was great, and very clean. The rooms are large and the bed was very comfortable. The staff are friendly, I loved recieving my after cups of tea! I would stay again any day.
Quiet place in the heart of Ubud
The location is perfect - near all Ubud services and attractions, and midway beetwen Tegalalang rice fields and Monkey Forest. But, in a quiet street from which we didn't hear any noise coming from touristy downtown Ubud. Breakfast was served to our room every morning, and was delicious. (fruit platter, tea and choice of pancake, toast, egg, etc). Staff was friendly and helpful. The last morning, we had to check out very early (6:00 am), and staff kindly accepted to bring our breakfast earlier.
Beautiful small guest house close to centre
This was a delightful place to stay! I had a stunning room with private garden and water fountain, perfect for meditation before heading into the fascinating chaos that is Ubud! The staff are delightful and attentive, the grounds immaculate and the swimming pool a joy. My stay provided peace and serenity and I would return in a heartbeat!
Perfect location perfect service
Out if all the pleaces I have stayed in Ubud this has been my favourite, great location, grewt service, delicious breakfast, warm shower cold aircon comfy bed. Very helpful staff. Such a good spot
What a find
Great hotel just a few minutes walk from the main street in Ubud. Friendly family run operation with nice touches such as a flask of hot water and coffee and tea left on the veranda table on an evening. Breakfast was served at the room and plate of fresh fruit was a meal in itself, never mind the egg and toast. Will stay again next time we come to Bali.
Pleasant hotel in quiet corner of hectic town.
This hotel is in a quite corner of the very hectic and chaotic town of Ubud. In comparison with other hotels here this is a very good choice. Small swimming pool and quite gardens, balconies with views over the trees and houses, friendly staff and good breakfast. But don’t expect 5 or even 4 star comforts because from what we saw they don’t exist in this locality. Ubud is a very popular tourist town who’s infrastructure is stretched to the limits. Lots of wonderful local crafts and food, with very attractive and interesting countryside just a very short walk away. But also full of scooters and cars, noise and hustle. The details say parking but only big enough for a scooter our taxi struggled to reach the hotel.
Just a really lovely time
Great area, lovely friendly and helpful staff,
GREAT
If you booked the Padma room ,you have to call them first to make sure the room with pool access is vacant. I did booked the padma room thinking it has pool access since that was the photos advertised online. When I called Padma hotel, I was told that our room is on the 2nd floor. But Dewa is nice and we were told that if the room will be vacant , he will moved us there. I got disappointed at first but Luckily no one was checked in when we arrived. Staffs are super friendly and we had a nice stay.
A little gem close to Ubud Palace
Padma Retreat is located in the city center of Ubud. It was a comfortable little hotel, nice and quiet. The bathroom has an open shower plan, which makes everything wet- we would prefer an enclosed shower. We parked our rental car on the property- barely enough space, but we made it fit. We enjoyed the birds and the rooftop views. The owner and staff were kind and helpful. They are constructing a pavilion structure next to the hotel. Delicious breakfast served every morning at our room's balcony.
Good location lack of facilities
Just off a small street less than 5 minute walk from Ubud palace we found the location great the room was fairly big but not very well equipped. Lack of mini fridge, safe, toiletries, towels were very thin and the air con was turned off with an extra charge for it to be turned on. The hotel itself was very small with no lobby or restaurant and only three sun loungers with the small pool. The staff were really friendly but then having to bring breakfast at a set time due to no restaurant wasn’t ideal. The views are great from the top (4th) floor but WiFi doesn’t reach up there which was quite frustrating. The hotel is good if you’re looking for a good location and not planning to spend too much time there but you don’t get as much as you’d expect for the price.
Amazing staff and excellent location
This place is in a perfect location right in the centre of ubud but down a quiet street. The staff here are amazing and so friendly while doing anything for you. The breakfast is lovely and on our last morning we had to leave early before breakfast started but they sorted out an early breakfast for us which was icing on the cake for this stay! Only negative can think of is the bed isn't very comfy or should have mosquito nets in the bathroom windows. Overall a lovely stay and would definitely stay here again.
Very friendly and accommodating staff. Good location. Excellent value for money.
Good location in auburn, friendly, comfortable hot
Good hotel with great pool. Breakfast delivered to you balcony every morning by young, friendly staff. Location is good as it’s a few minutes walk to shops and restaurants.
Beautiful hotel and the staff were lovely. Just a short walk from the Main Street in ubud.
Padma Retreat
We have stayed in a number of places in Bali and this was one of the best value for money. A Balinese friend recommended it and we are pleased we stayed there. The room & bathroom are large and well appointed. Staff were very friendly, helpful, and always ready to chat with you. We stayed at Padma for 2 1/2 weeks and found everything we needed close by - laundry just across the road, Bali Yoga restaurant about 2 doors down and close to walk to the centre of Ubud easily. No roosters was great as other places we have stayed in Bali you are woken at all hours by them. We would definitely stay there again. Thank you Padma owners & staff.
Comfortable retreat
A very quaint and comfortable B&B. It’s not quite a hotel but not really a home stay, but a very quiet and comfortable little place in the heart of Ubud. Within kicking distance of the main strip it gives you all the basics. Breakfast and afternoon tea/coffee is served on your balcony/terrace at a time of your choosing and there’s usually one of the family around to help out with questions or organising trips etc. The rooms are clean but basic. We had aircon and a ceiling fan, but no fridge or Tv. The showers are HUGE! We only really wanted a room to sleep in though. If you’re looking for a resort this isn’t your place as there’s no bar or restaurant. If you’re wanting a few nights close to town to explore this is your place.
Good clean place for fair price
Service was good - friendly. English of one of the guys in reception need to be improved. The bed was not very comfortable, I woke up with a bad neck both mornings - mix of bed and pillows (though hardly used the pillows as very hard). I didnt try the breakfast. The rooms are not very soundproof, meaning you can hear the neighbour - mine on the phone til after midnight which was impossible to sleep through.
Small, friendly hotel.
Padma Retreat is a small, family run hotel in central Ubud. It is within walking distance of many Ubud attractions: many temples, dance performances, city center with shopping and dining. Yet, as typical of Ubud, wee bit away from Jl Raya, it is quiet retreat to rest and relax. And, note that, as you leave the "alley", turn left and walk, oh, 2-300 yards, and you are in outlying Ubud with rice fields and palm trees. It is a low cost hotel. Do not expect resort like facilities and amneties. But, breakfast is very good (essentially three types of eggs preparation or stuffed pancakes and fruits each morning). Pool is small. Rooms have little furnitures. (If you get an A/C, it does work well). But, the hotel staff is extremely friendly. They are helpful. They are out maintaining the hotel all day long ... sweeping, cleaning. Do remember that this is the tropics, you well be visited, occasionally, by geckos, snakes, insects. But, that is part of the charm. I very much enjoyed my stay. I definitely will recommend the hotel. And, I would stay there for my next visit.
Close to action
Good location close to centre of ubud. Organised with cleaning and breakfast daily! Would go again
Good location, walking distance to markets & shops
Close to everything though quiet location. Good breakfast served on the balcony. There is also a great little restaurant/ warung less than 50 mts down the same little lane which has fantastic food - worth a try!
Fabulous
Great place to stay in Ubud. Off the main road but close to everything . Only negative feedback was bad wifi but apart from that good place to go :)
Ideal location, friendly staff and value for money
Great value for money, staff were so friendly and the rooms were nice. 2 minute walk from Ubud Art Market and the main streets. Location really made it the ideal hotel!
Lovely and helpful staff, great location!
Here for 2 nights... very friendly staff!! The rooms were adequate with a very comfy bed. Great location as it's central to eveything
Lovely setting and good location.
We would highly recommend this small hotel. The breakfast served on our private balcony was delicious. The hosts were very friendly and attentive. The activity booking centre and the hotel offered good value/price. Walking distance to many restaurants and attractions.
It is a lovely and relaxing place, though you need to get used to ceiling fan and no TV! Breakfast in the room was great! About 5-10 min walk to the market and most popular suckling pig restaurant.
Little Gem
Position good excellent room staff do need better understanding of english and one negative there was no fridge in the room or a safe
Unusual Gen
Family home stay with lovely friendly staff, close to Ubud attractions without the noise. Pool great, breakfast great could not ask for more.
Small family run boutique hotel - great value
We were a group with children and took the 3 ground floor rooms by the pool which were great. Breakfast was delivered to our balcony each morning, rooms are large and light, the gardens are beautiful and the pool perfect size and temperature. Centrally located to everything you need, within walking distance
Hidden Gem
The Padma Retreat is a brilliant wee hotel and a hidden gem. Ubud is a noisy, busy, bustling town and this hotel is on a small Street just 5 minutes from this so you get peace and quiet. Surrounded by trees and the sounds of nature it feels as though you're in the middle of nowhere and it's still so easy to walk to all the main points in Ubud. Breakfast is brought to you at a prearranged time and served on your private balcony which is beautiful and the food is lovely. There is no bar/restaurant within if you're looking for that but it was no issue for us. Water pressure in the showers is pretty low but that would have been our only complaint. It was incredibly good value for money. Lovely clean hotel, friendly staff and the pool is great too.
Pleasant stay in center of Ubud
This was a quaint and quiet little place near the center of Ubud. Loved breakfast every morning and the calming pool! My room / bathroom was comfortable. It could use a bit of upgrade to ceilings/ walls / tapestry, but I enjoyed my time here and felt relaxed. The staff was friendly, but only 1-2 people speak english.
Nice & quiet
Had a pleasant stay here. Pool was nice & never busy. Breakfast is served on the terrace (at a time of your choice), which is a nice touch. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Location is convenient - not far from the centre and very close to the rice terraces
convenient and clean hotel
Good for the price. Quiet and peaceful away from the main traffic.
Nice hotel in a great location
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nice. The location is great. It is within walking distance to the downtown area with lot of shopping, restaurants, and bars. The room and bathroom were large and clean. The terrace overlooking the pool was nice and had a great view. I would definitely recommend to friends and would stay here again.
they cancelled my reservation!
i never stayed at the hotel because when i got there, they mysteriously cancelled my reservation. however, hotels.com is so backwards, they made me rate it in order to tell about my stay....it was a holiday and couldn't get another hotel, so they gave me to their 'friends' hotel. I spent one night there and left. The hotel they put me in was so gross, it had spiders everywhere, no hot water, the door didn't lock ect. I am still waiting on hotels.com to pay me back and rectify this situation. This hotel is totally incompetent!!!!
The room given to us originally in the old wing needs serious refurbishment. However, our rooms in the new wing were clean and comfortable. So were the bedsheets and towels. However the cupboard could have been cleaned. The staff at the hotel attended promptly to our complaints. The hotel is a safe walking distance from the town and there is a restaurant just across the hotel.Tour bookings could be made without much of a hassle.Breakfast is satisfactory.Overall,we were satisfied.
Highly recommend it
Everything was perfect: the room, cleanliness, the service and the staff is very friendly and helpful. There was no false advertisement, everything we saw in the pictures was indeed the real condition of the hotel. Would definitely recommend it to anyone. The only negative thing I would have to say is that the water pressure in the shower wasn't strong.
Great location, fantastic staff!
Location very central but quiet. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Room spacious and clean. Breakfast on the balcony every morning was a real treat!
Really great guesthouse near Ubud Center
Stayed at the fourth floor and the view of Ubud's jungles was really relaxing. The small pool looked inviting but I wasn't able to swim because of the rains when we stayed there. Really clean room, spacious bathroom, hot water, great airconditioning and nice breakfast served in your terrace everyday. Service with a smile. The family's pet dog Pedro is cute and friendly too. Internet was great and so was the location...Jalan Kajeng had some interesting spas, restaurants and shops plus 7 minutes away from the bustle of Ubud's main road.
Great Location
The room was spacious and clean with a good balcony where the room service breakfast was served. Easy walk to museums, the Palace and restaurants. Only downside for us was no fridge, TV or kettle. They do a coffee service with thermos jug on request but this wasn't always convenient. Beautiful gardens and nice pool.
Great place just off the main road from the Palace. The staff are very helpful and friendly although there did seem to be a bit of miscommunication around the payment of the airport transfer. My room was clean apart from ants on the balcony. Breakfast is brought to the room each morning although there doesn't seem to be a choice outside eggs and pancakes, however the pancakes were good. Would recommend.
Great service, but dirty room
The staff was lovely but my room was quite dirty. Curtains were filthy, bed sheets white but had stains on them I felt as though there were bugs in the bed and had a very hard time sleeping. Flowers in the bathroom surrounding the bathtub were all dead and full of ants (nice touch but should be replaced and bug free) However, they did serve a nice breakfast and it was brought to you on the terrace of your room at the time you chose. It very nice fruit plate and I had an omelette and toast but there was different options. They also had a big thermos of hot water and tea and coffee set up for you to have at your leisure. The grounds of the hotel were also very nice and well kept.
Very Nice
Very pleasant stay, friendly staff. Lovely room in front of the pool.
Great breakfast. Beautiful atmosphere and quiet. Close to activities. I recommend this place.
"We wil be back"
We had the best time at Padma Retreat....the garden was lovely, staff and family were very welcoming and accommodating! The location is fantastic and close to everything in Ubud.Breakfast each morning was served on our private terrace and was delicious. We will definitely be back.Thankyou Padma for a lovely stay....my sister and I loved it.
Run down and dirty
This hotel was completely run down and dirty. Nothing like advertised. The pool and lights were off for the most part so it was pretty dark at night around the pool and walkways. Our room came with no AC unit, but a great working room fan. Unfortunately, there are areas where there are exposed laser cut Windows, half of which did not have screens. This left us exposed to many bugs flying in. There were stains on bed sheets as well. As for the staff themselves, they were nowhere to be seen. We opted for no breakfast each morning but every single time we passed by the front desk, no one was there. When we arrived, upon checking in, the staff were snapping photos of us posing like thy were really helping us, which they were not. Very unprofessional, at least ask before you start taking photos of new guests.
Perfect place
Quiet and serene very clean and main centre is 1 mn walk. Very comfortable bed no TV (bonus) great balcony minimal guests and very accomodating family operated. Breakfast served at your time on your balcony. Highly recommend
Quiet retreat close to downtown.
We stayed here for two nights because we wanted something close to downtown Ubud, but we also wanted a quiet, relaxing place. Padma Retreat met those needs for us. It was a little bit hard to find but our driver figured it out. On Kajeng St. you turn up the alley where the fastboat sign is (I think its called Ubud Dancer). The room was comfortable and spacious, although has no TV. That's ok though because its a retreat! The pool was pretty and very relaxing. The staff was friendly and even served breakfast to us early one morning because we had to leave at 6:45am to go do an activity. Its an easy walk to most of the sights in Ubud including the Ubud Palace and the Ubud Market. We would definitely stay here again if we come back to Bali.
Room with a view
Lovely place to relax with small, pretty pool. Breakfast brought to your room.No TV though. Would recommend.
Great Location, Value & Service in Ubud Center!
I booked this hotel because I was travelling with my 70+ mom and needed a quiet/convenient location with as little steps as possible. I could not hear any traffic noise and was only 3 min walk from the Ubud Palace/Market. We had a ground floor pool view which was magical (garden was well kept) and breakfast (generous portion of fruit and omelette) was served on the patio facing the pool. The owner was always helpful and staff was friendly. You can also arrange the airport transport with them directly at reasonable price. Just remember to bring a torchlight if you are walking back in the nite, as you know Bali has mostly no street lamps so it applies to most locations you are staying.
Define dolphins
The beach isn't too gray as it's black sand and quite dirty but definitely worth a visit for the morning dolphin watching! We did ours with Pascal for 100,000 each ad saw almost 100 dolphins flipping about! Restaurants here are nice too, as are the locals! :) there are two swimming pools at the hotel which are lovely too as well as a temple.
Excellent
We usually stay a bit more budget than this, so this felt like a bit of a splurge. Totally worth it! The rooms are very clean, and airy as ours on the top floor with a balcony. The staff is kind and friendly, bringing delicious breakfast to your room and afternoon tea. Refreshing pool - there is not hotel bar or restaurant, but there is plenty of that down the road. If you want to be central, the location is good and surprisingly quiet for being right down the road from all the racket of tourism. The front office the street arranges transportation, shuttle and tours for fair prices with a small discount for hotel guests.
Centralt i Ubud
Dejligt hotel. Ligger centralt i Ubud.

Near market but secluded a bit. Be prepared for animal noise at night. I did not eat there as better options within walking distance in central Ubud. Something that I not at 2 hotels in Ubud is when you put the sign clean my room’ and go out, they don’t clean the room but turn the card that say ‘do not disturb’. Then they say they didn’t clean because of the sign.
