We needed to walk a distance to find the hotel. However, We like the hotel room’s toilet is separated from the bath. The room is clean and new. Buffet breakfast is nice especially the bread buffet. The complimentary supper is simple & great. The middle age lady staff at front desk is very helpful when we tried find car rental and she offered to help us to contact the car rental for us.
Good hotel but small room
The room is clean and comfortable. Location is good. Breakfast is quite good. The only problem is the room a bit small although we only had 2 small overnight bag. The public onsen is also small compare to the other hotel that we stayed while in Japan. Other than that everything else is good.
Good base for the Nakasendo trail hike
Very clean hotel & quiet. We only spent a night there and for that night the staff had prepared ochazuke for us to try, which we loved! Breakfast was very good as well. The public bath is on the smaller side, but quiet if you manage to be with very few people.
Comfortable room, self service with most things. No daily room service. Onsen bath was fabulous.
Booked the double queen with balcony room. Room size was small can’t open 3 luggages. Too cold to use the balcony so it didn’t make sense to pay more. Room was not central air con, so by right you can adjust temperature. However, it was very very cold despite the adjustment. Lights were dim in room too. Onsen was small but luckily there were not many guest. Breakfast spread is ok nothing special. Would not return.
The luggage delivery service associated with the hotel (not covered by the accommodation cost, though) is extremely helpful. I was surprised to learn that some restaurants were fully booked in Nakatsugawa (esp. on a cold early winter night), so it would've been helpful to know this information (i.e., some restaurants could be very busy over the weekend, etc.).
Great hotel, clean, quiet, lovely staff.
A great little property tucked away in a quiet street close to the train station. Car parking was not a problem, even though it was not at the hotel itself. Lots of restaurants in close proximity to the hotel. Rooms very small, but clean and well equipped.
We liked the convenience to station and quietness. The staff were lovely. We would have preferred without the music on a short monotonous loop in the corridors from 6.30 and in the public bath but that was a minor issue. Overall a great experience
Comfortable friendly and well organised hotel.
alot of reviewers said the rooms were small and the hotel floors were dirty, in regards to this: the room size depends on which one you booked, me and my bf had a really big room that was comfortable but my brother had a really small room. we still both liked it, the hotel staff were really friendly to us. in regards to cleanliness, you do need to take off your shoes, but they give you slippers if you want it so you dont need to walk with just your socks, but we didnt mind personally as it seemed pretty clean. we thought it was ok and a great location, overall pretty good.
Functional
Nice clean hotel. Breakfast is so-so, nothing exciting. You need to take your shoes off upon entering the hotel which is a bother. All in all good and comfortable (small rooms as always in Japan)
The facilities especially the onsen are super nice. The room can be quite small so be sure what you book. Nice restaurants around. Super good to access the post towns of Gifu!
Convenient location
- Hotel is within 5 mins’ walking distance from Nakatsugawa station. It has an unusual but interesting policy to take off shoes before walking to the reception. Guests are asked to walk without shoes to their rooms. There is an amenities counter next to reception area where there is a coffee machine - Rooms are not cleaned during my stay of 2 days but new towels are provided daily ( hung outside room door) - Room size is average size for a Japanese hotel. Water kettle, tea and coffee sachets available. - a couple of restaurants around the hotel. Directly opposite is a yakiniku restaurant Wagyu Bank which serves very good quality wagyu beef at a relatively inexpensive price.
Staff were very helpful. Breakfast buffet had a good spread and they even had complimentary rice bowls for guests every evening. It has a “no shoes” policy which was quite a novelty.
This hotel was ok, the cons were that the room we booked (the standard double room) was quite small, the bed was uncomfortable, and the smoking room down the hall didn’t seal well, so there was a lot of smoke smell in the hallway. The pros were the service, the breakfast buffet, and the rice dish served in the evening. The onsen was nice, although small as well. The on-site laundry was nice but the washer/dryer combo took quite awhile and was frequently being used.
Great stay. Loved the onset aspect of this property!
Very clean peaceful.
Perfect except that rooms were small.
👍
I’ve stayed here a couple of time now and always find the property pleasant to stay in
It was great. Modern.
This was an excellent choice . We used it as a base for walking along the Nakesendo trail . There are convenient busses and around this hotel some excellent restaurants and also a large supermarket so was easy. Breakfast was good- Japanese and some small amount of western.
Loved staying at Onn. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Our room was very nice and the only one with a balcony. Much recommended if available. Unlike the email you receive when you book that staff does not speak English: they do! And they are super friendly. Only thing a little odd is that house keeping is every four days. However towels and bins are changed daily if left outside the room. The hotel is right on the Nagasendo trail. Can definitely see us stay here again.
Clean and modern hotel that is a short walk from Nakatsugawa station. The staff were friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast at the hotel had a decent selection and was delicious. The public bath was extremely clean and much appreciated after the walk between Magome and Tsumago. Not a complaint, but more of a comment is that the mattresses were very firm. Though this seemed to be the trend at the other hotels we stayed at in Japan. You will need to remove and lock up your shoes in the lobby. This is common at ryokan and some hotels in Japan. Though, you can certainly tell it keeps the carpets in the hallways and rooms much cleaner in general. Would definitely recommend staying at Onn for anyone planning to stay in Nakatsugawa
This was a beautiful property. We had a balcony room, it was lovely.
Good hotel close to station
Was close to the station and restaurants. Easy check in process. Rooms were small but normal for Japan. Public bath was relaxing.
The staff were fantastic and extremely accommodating, they were always so nice and happy to see you! The hotel was always clean and served a wonderful breakfast. It is close to lots of shops and restaurants so it is easy to walk everywhere, also it is close to the train station which is convenient. The rooms are small but very nice and have everything you need for your stay. I would for sure stay again.
The room for 3 people was really small. Also you have to take your shoes off at the entrance and the floor is not always clean. The breakfast is very Japanese and not a lot of options. Not worth the very high price of the hotel.
Great bunk room for family of four (adults). Spacious with table and bench seating. Separated out bathroom making multi-uses possible. Nice bath/spa space. Great breakfast. Under 10 minute walk from train station.
This was a great stay! Easy to communicate with staff in English and breakfast was fantasic. One of my favorites in Japan. Great location, close to train/bus stations as well as a super market that has great food options! Highly reccomend
Clean hotel , very friendly staff
Conveniently located close to train station and restaurants. Staff very friendly and helpful. Onset wonderful esp after hiking.
A gem! One of the best hotels we stayed in for our entire trip to Japan. Very clean with all of the amenities you’d expect in Japan. They even had smart tvs which none of the other bigger hotels we stayed in had. And the staff were fantastic, very helpful and spoke very good English.
Very friendly and helpful staffs. The ambience is nice. Will absolutely recommend to my friends.
Great option if you are doing the Nakasendo trail hike.
Excellent hotel
Hotel located about 10 minutes from train station. No shoes allowed on premises. You store your shoes in small shoe lockers in lobby. Staff were very helpful during checkin and checkout. Assisted us in shipping luggage. Also recommended and made reservations at a great izakaya. Rooms were very modern and comfortable. Onsite onsen. You can purchase breakfast but did not try it. Free coffee in lobby.
A beautiful step back in time.
Great place to stay and excellent breakfast.
Pointless socks issue
It is very croudy hotel, feels like students rooms. The issue with walking with socks all over the hotel is annoying and pointless.we didn't get the feeling of a unique place.
So many thoughtful amenities and an excellent public bath. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfast was fantastic!
We loved the location and the onsen on-site was a nice perk.
Breakfast is so worth it. Walking around in socks is pretty fun. The hotel staff is very friendly and can understand English well. The room was perfect for my needs. No hesitation to stay here again if I come back. You’ll find bus stops and the train station as well as good food options that they provide in the brochure in walkable distance.
Lovely convenient hotel
Very clean room and big public bath we most liked. Close to the Nakatsugawa station and lots of nice restaurants. We really enjoyed staying this hotel. However one thing disappointed us was the breakfast menu. Four days no change of the menu and most of the food was cold. Taste was fine but we hope there were more variety.
The property is tucked away on a quiet side street; the staff were friendly and wonderful, and the property is clean and neat. Definitely a great choice for someone looking for a no-frills, but very nice and clean property!
Very close to the station but also quiet in an inner street. The design of the hotel is very pretty.
Aesthetically beautiful and a short walk from the station. Lovely street front with plenty of dining options close by. Small rooms very well designed. Japanese breakfast decent; western breakfast not so. Staff very friendly and personable with decent English.
Best place to stay in Nakatsugawa, close to everything and the cleanest nicest hotel in town. Small rooms, but had laundry facilities and everything needed for a comfortable and thoughtful atay
Nice hotel
The room we stayed in had a large twin bed size seating area, but the room itself was very tight to walk around. The staff were all very friendly and wonderful. I tried their public spa, but I was told to bring my wet towel back to my room where I didn’t find a space for it. Wish they had a place to leave the used towels in the spa area. Although the hotel floor seemed clean, the 5th floor we stayed on, the pathway to our room smelled like some dog xxxxx neutralizing cleaning spray. Overall I had mixed feelings about this place.
Staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are small but new, efficient and clean. Good Japanese breakfast with some local cuisine added.
Shoes off at the front door made it homey.
Great way to experience little bit of the culture. You had to take your shoes off when you enter the building, and it has traditional hot spring, but it still functions as regular hotel. Beautifully built with wood.
Minimum amenities and services; no phone, small space, no window views. Good breakfast.
Direction getting to hotel from the train station can be clearer.
Nice Hotel for a day layover.
Amazing new hotel with a zen atmosphere. Sooo clean, excellent staff, modern design using wood and calming colours, everything was just great. 10/10
Beautiful modern hotel, great Japanese design. Very helpful staff. Used to western tourists.
Probably the nicest hotel in one of the nicest towns (in terms of restaurants, amenities, walkability) on our way thru the Nakasendo trail. Staff were really helpful in helping us fill up the forms for the Ta-q-bin to send our luggage to the next hotel. Nice onsen which I used in the early hours of the morning before hiking. Hotel is nicely located across from a few eateries and and shops and walking distance to the station (about 500-600m) Nearest convenience store is about 400m or so. Not too bad
The hotel is immaculately clean, the staff are nice and accommodating. Overall the experience was beyond all expectations!
We loved our stay, however the room was a little small.
Not much to like about this hotel. Breakfast, as part of the booking, was not available. Staff not helpful: they watched as a man had trouble balancing while taking off his shoes and had to be held up by others (myself included). Very overpriced.
nice
Nice location in a semi-pedestrianised part of Nakatsugawa, We had a vehicle, but it is also only a short walk from the train station. Hotel is modern and clean. The on-site onsen was very nice. Breakfast buffet included good Japanese and western options. There are plenty of restaurants in the area, although it would be wise to get the hotel to help reserve a table if you have something specific in mind as they do get busy.
Lovely new hotel with the most uncomfortable beds in the world We are very familiar with Japanese beds and futons they are usually very firm but these beds were like sleeping on a box spring placed on a wooden floor .. awful. We did ask if there was a futon mattress to put on the bed to soften it . The solution offered was two extra comforters for $8 each. It really bothers me that I would be charged extra for a pathetic solution that would make a minimal difference in comfort. Based on this I would not recommend this hotel or stay here again
Perfect
Great hotel clean comfortable
Peaceful and lovely hotel with Onsen
Onn Nakatsugawa is an amazing hotel! We stayed here for a few nights on our honeymoon as we visited nearby towns on the Nakasendo trail. The hotel was very clean, comfortable, and peaceful. The included Onsen is amazing and helped us unwind after a long day of hiking. Breakfast was delicious as well. The hotel is located nearby lots of restaurants, and only a 10 min walk from the train station. Highly recommend!
Great hotel:friendly, clean and comfortable
Great hotel: friendly, clean, modern, good value and comfortable. Excellent breakfast. Car parking. It was difficult to find the hotel and no one seemed to know where it was including at the station tourist office
Lovely new hotel with super friendly staff. The room very comfortable and the public bath is amazing. Make sure to get their delicious, abundante breakfast.
About 7-8 mins walk from Nakatsugawa Station. Hotel has a public bath which is nice. Breakfast was good too. However, room is very small.
中津川的絕佳宿住
早餐豐盛與美味,餐枱環境也精緻舒適。旅館大堂內需要脫鞋,全部室內地板都需要光腳行走,需要注意
Clean and nice! Breakfast buffet was so good! People were very friendly.
