Location
Very friendly staff ,nice location
Our accommodation was very spacious. We had a large living room and kitchen, bedroom, and private bathroom. The living room had an ice sized TV but we were unable to get any network stations. There were, however, a handful of DVDs to watch, but several of them were scratched and unable to watch.
I did not receive the code to open the room lock box va email. There is no one at reception and it tells you to use the ring doorbell. I did this with no response sonI then called the listed which went to voicemail. i never received a response to the voicemail either but luckily I ran into one of the other guest and we were able to determine the lockbox code. Given absolutely no communication from the owners, I would not stay here again. While the room was fine, upon opening the refrigerator no one had refilled the water bottle, the coffee must not have been used in a while as it’s the coffee crystals adhered themselves to the spoon inside the container, and the soap dispenser in the shower appears to be broken as half of the soap had leaked out onto the floor.
Accommodation was perfectly situated, handy to town, quiet and had good parking. Our room was clean and very cosy. The check in system was easy and the owner living onsite was available if needed.
This was far from off the beaten track infacr it was less the a 5 min walk to everything and what a awesome place
My go to place
Relaxed location and spacious accommodation.
Clean, comfortable & conveniently located. Would stay here again
We met with friends who are caravanning around the South Island. So they were across the road from us. WE had dinner and breakfast with them. It was so convenient!
Great for a stop in Murchison. Perfect for our one night with The Cow Shed providing great food just a few minute walk around the corner.
The whole process was spot on. Thanks
We never saw the owner/staff but our key was in the lockbox and we were given instructions bf we arrived. Room was clean and comfortable. We received an invoice as soon as we left which was appreciated.
Quiet peaceful surroundings (beautiful gardens with lots of bird life) tidy rooms, comfortable beds, good water pressure. Nice little stop on our way around the area. Thanks Arran
Very peaceful, beautiful outlook
Very comfortable. Could do with a larger basin in the bathroom but the great bed made up for that.
The property was roomy and comfortable, especially with the use of the deck.
Beautiful little units in a tranquil quiet environment. The only negative was having to park out on the road.
It was so lovely, Arron was friendly and helpful. We had a great sleep, a barbecue, and relaxed
Great location in center of town.Lovely property in quiet area set in garden
Spacious and clean property with really pretty backyard garden. Easy check-in process to pick up the keys.
Wonderful stay. Quiet and peaceful property. Wish we could have stayed a little longer to take advantage of the bike trails in Murchison. Hope to come back again in the future. Thanks!
Fantastic host and great stop for a family. Room was clean and beds were comfortable
Lovely location and well worth the stay if heading out on the OGR
Stayed for a night, was clean and convinient, host was very friendly and helpful
Great little place. Modern and extra clean. Nice sheltered bush garden to eat and have a quite drink. Keep this place a secret or everyone will be rushing for it.
Great place to stay for one or more nights.
Clean. Had everything we needed
Beautiful garden space
Pleasant, private and quiet accomodation with beautiful garden and outdoor deck and seating area. Despite finding a mouldy pizza bread in the microwave and no spare toilet rolls in the holder, we enjoyed our stay here. A hot shower after skiing was welcome and a good sleep in the comfy bed. Check-in was easy, with instructions outside the closed reception area. Tea towel for the kitchenette would be handy, and although a luxury, enough plunge coffee for both afternoon and morning would be lovely.
The site is unmanned but we did receive a text shortly after booking with a lockbox code for our room. The room was lovely, clean & warm. The hotel, just a short 2 min walk away, cooks an awesome roast & has friendly staff.
Met our requirements and despite the name it was just a short walk into town. Did not meet the host but we were pre-advised that the front office was not manned.
A comfortable stay in nice surroundings.
Great place to stay, very central to everything . Nice and clean with good heating. Aaron was a pleasure to deal with.
Handy stop off point and easy to find. Stay was quiet. Microwave took a little bit to figure out but got it sorted eventually
Private accommodation and was off the main road. The hand basin in the bathroom was just a bit too small to comfortably use.
Awesome accomodation and location, couldn’t fault a thing, would highly recommend it if ever looking to stay in Murchison. Will definitely be back for more trails.
Clean. Comfortable. Plenty of power points and power boards to charge phones, iPads etc. Quiet, with bush surrounding it.
Relaxing Stay Off the Beaten Track !
Great location just down the road from the local shops. Very comfortable unit for our 1 night's stay, and would be a very good base for a longer stay if the purpose was to explore the considerable amount of scenic wonders in the area
Happy with our stay
Very clean and tidy place set in beautiful native gardens and even a very friendly fluffy cat. The spa was delightful.
Off the beaten track
Beautiful well kept cottage. We enjoyed our stay.
A brilliant place to stay in a quiet little town. Peaceful, friendly and all you need for a great stay
Great place to stay - clean and warm. And great play area for the kids.
A great place to stay. We were there for one night and they were very helpful and our room was very cosy and comfortable
Very good
There are not many places to stay on the way to Picton so we choose Off the Beaten Track and what a good choice this was. The accommodation consists of about 4 rooms/chalet at the back of an existing house with a veranda which over looked the garden. The room we had had modern decor and looked lovely. You had a microwave and a fridge in the room. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance.
Good accommodation right in town. Had everything we needed for a short stay. Easy parking, wish we’d stayed longer as Murchison is an interesting town in its own right. Definitely recommend the museum.
Very comfortable tidy cottage with gorgeous garden setting to relax in
The surrounds were very relaxing and accommodation comfortable.
Friendly owner. Very clean and comfortable room. Loved Murchison
Nice and cosy rooms. Great location in town. Walkable to shops and cafes.
Very quiet, comfortable and convenient to main street. Premises were clean and well presented. Notice board with our name/key was easy even though the manager was nearby.
Clean and cosy. Great location we were able to walk to town for dinner. Loved all the bush walks in the area
Our studio room was very clean and well equipped in a lovely garden setting. Easy walking to the town center.
Clean, comfortable room situated in a peaceful garden area. Only problem was not having somewhere to rinse plates or cups for reuse.
Best place we've stayed by far
Such a chill and laid back place The room was so pretty and charming, the gardens are gorgeous and I had a lay in the hammock to read for a while. Murchison is a small town, so it's close to everything and we could walk down to the river for a swim. Also a 15 minute drive to the big suspension foot bridge and swing, which was lots of fun!
Superb place to relax, highly recommended , great location
Riversong Respite
Arran the young owner, I believe has only been in business for two years but is doing everything right Comfortable bed ..bbq for an evening meal,,,Arran evencalled by with plums from his tree
Retirement Gap Year 😁😁
We are travelling around NZ for 1 month drove down from Able Tasman on route to Franz Josef. Riversong cottage was really just a stopover. We had the Kea room which is 1 double, Tv, microwave, fridge, tea/coffee. It’s was a hot day and the room has a large patio door and side window which is very nice except we couldn’t have them open because of the gnats and sandflies. So we we’re very hot in our room at night. It would be better if there were nets at the window so you could at least have the windows open. The room was ok for 1 night.
We’ll set up cottage. Perfect for our family. Yard to play in.
Great little place to stay, we had a studio sitting right in the garden with beautiful views
Easy check in and cottage spacious and clean with everything we needed. Easy to walk to grocery and everyone was very friendly
The only thing we can say about the visit is that we had no contact with any staff. As we just wanted to confirm our room etc. But the complex was fantastic and will love to stay again
Just a couple of minutes walk into Murchison town, beautiful garden section to look out on. The facilities were all clean, tidy and bed very comfortable. We were in the studio where the bedroom part was great, but very tight in the bathroom and kitchen spaces.
A lovely homely cottage with everything we needed.
Cosy Comfortable Stay
Cottages are set in beautiful landscaped garden, very tidy and comfortable with everything you need. Child friendly. Warm and clean. Only negative for me was the heatpump was extremely noisy, so much so we had to turn it off at night so that wasn’t ideal to keep warm during the night during winter.
Ideal stop off in murcherson
Perfect place for a stop off on tour to Picton, lovely cosy 2 bed cottage.
Awesome
Warm and cosy. Lovely and quiet Very friendly. The people in Murchison are very friendly.
Lovely two bedroom cottage
Great for a family nice and cosy would be awesome to revisit in summer. Lovely hosts - thoroughly recommend !
Convenient and comfortable
We only stayed one night prior to starting a hike, due to wet weather we didn't have the chance to enjoy the grounds, but found it a convenient and comfortable place to stay. The owners were very helpful and friendly, and arranged for my husband to lock his bike away in their garage. Nothing was a problem.
Peaceful and comfortable.
Riversong is a nice property in a peaceful location in the centre of Murchison. We stayed in Kea Studio, which was immaculate and very comfortable. It came with some cooking facilities, although nowhere to wash up so we were instructed just to leave our dishes in a box to be sorted out after our departure. We enjoyed a take-away meal on our verandah watching birds in the peaceful garden. We were pleased to have a jug of fresh milk provided in the fridge, which served for drinks and even for our cereal the next morning.

Very quiet. Nice after tough drive. Near river(s) for easy walking in town. Good stopover for us.
