Had a great stay at the Oaks for my week in Wellington. I was solo traveling, and this room (city view) was the perfect size. Would also be perfect for a couple as it’s big enough. The bed and pillows were really comfy, the bathroom was modern and the shower was nice and big. Staff were friendly, and also greeted their guest. Would definitely stay here again. 😊
The reception staff were so friendly, I think her name was Stella, I had asked for something special for our anniversary and we walked in to two beautiful towel swans. Lovely service, and felt safe with night staff on.
OK stay for three nights. I had asked for a slightly earlier check in of 1.00pm rather than 2.00pm on medical grounds. I understand that this is not guaranteed but on arrival we were asked to wait 15 minutes for the room. I thank them for this but find it strange that there were no rooms ready by 1.00pm when they would all have been available an hour later. The house staff were working hard and long hours cheerfully while we were there so I don't think they were the issue. Its seems to be more at a front desk or management issue.
Lovely room and great facilities. The only downside is noise from Courtenay Place, Wellington's entertainment strip, which we could hear on the ninth floor, every night, long into the early hours. Ear plugs and white noise mostly solved it, but if you are a light sleeper and/or can't abide ear plugs make sure to ask for a room at the back of the hotel!
Nice people
The location of the property was central with a quick 10 minute walk to the bay. Bed was large and comfortable! Our room was in an interior location, so there was no window. Kind of like a dungeon because no natural light could come in but it was nice for sleeping in! Room had a mini fridge which was great! Parking garage only fits compacts cars so be aware of that. The street had a lot of fhussle and bussel going on and it was a little dirty.
Perfect stay
The room didn't have windows so the room was so dark and quite We both slept really well in the comfortable bed. The shower is unusual modern but very open to
Good allround
Convenient location
Overall good - convenient location, friendly staff, and very clean sheets/bedding. But moldy bathroom and not functioning TV due to a modem issue. I had a free carpark offer due to my membership with Hotels.com but still got charged $25 per night. Messaged the hotel to get refunded. No response yet.
The room was fine, very clean and comfortable but no window! Hotel clerks did not alert us to included buffet breakfast; they said we had to pay. I found out by accident it was included. They said we had to pay for a room upgrade. Location is great, but the area is a bit sketchy.
Excellent facilities and so convenient
Central and Cozy!
The hotel was clean and comfortable. We loved the bed and the super large shower. I really liked the provided toiletries, smelled lovely! The only issue we had was with the parking. It is very tight and difficult to manoeuvre. The first space we were assigned to was impossible to get into (right next to the wall) and thankfully the second space was manageable. The front desk staff was so helpful with all that. The location is central and convenient, lots of restaurants and entertainment. It’s also close to the waterfront, which has great art and views.
central location
So handy
Great service and very handy to St James, Opera House, Michael Fowler Centre etc. Would definitely stay there again.
Great room . Staff helpful
We enjoyed
We really enjoyed our stay. We didnt receive any vip complimentaries.
Good room, great upgrades with free breakfast and parking.
Really loved my stay would stay again
Nice clean room, very happy to stay here again.
A decent hotel for the price. Whatever you do, don’t bring a car. The parking lot is way too tight. We had a midsize car and one of us had to get out of the car and direct the other as to not hit anything. It took 15 minutes to get in or out.
Very good value. Tatty neighbourhood, but that's just WGN's CBD. Near everything we were interested in.
Lovely, friendly staff at reception - smooth and easy check in. Room was clean and comfortable.
There is oarking, but it has to be booked in advance and is around the corner at the vack of the building. Location to eateries amd shopping is fantastic.
Service was excellent
Friendly staff
Very convenient and easy access to eateries, transport and shops.
Great location
Everything about Oaks was great, my partner and I both enjoyed the room and the staff were super friendly. We chose the City view, no housekeeping package but the lovely man at the front desk added it on for no extra charge. This was my first time in Wellington so definitely made it memorable, my only complaint is that there were a lot of homeless people outside, but other than that, everything was great!
A lot of noise from the street and the hallways. Couldn’t sleep. Couldn’t open windows. The bed and pillows are comfy tho. I also had an issue with my room which wasn’t Oaks fault, but deceptive of Wotif. I booked the studio apartment. The photos shown for that room on Wotif had a balcony. That is the only reason we booked that room months in advance. When we checked in, there was no balcony. Staff said it was the executive suite you get the balcony with. Staff did say if there was an upgrade available, they would’ve done it. They were very apologetic which I appreciate. Wotif, you need to update the photos on the studio apartment rooms so people know what they’re getting. We had plans to start New Year’s Eve in our room but had to cancel.
Great location for access to Te Papa and the Waterfront Area. Spacious and clean room. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast buffet was a worthwhile addition. Bar and dining areas are sterile and noisy, but the food and service was excellent.
Holiday
Very friendly staff but slightly disorganised. Excellent restaurant. Housekeeping average.
Bit disappointed
Good location and lovely staff.i had car park free as a silver member perk arrived to be told car too big. So had to pay and park elsewhere. Not ideal. Place is a bit dated and looking worn but location is great. Bed was comfortable and good shower.
Lovely hotel, lovely service. Carpark was abit tight but still good. 😊
It was clean and modern and very convenient for our stay. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful but some of the dining room staff were not that friendly and helpful.
Good location
Very happy with staff but staff need to inform clients of what you are allowed for contintal breakfast
Safe, comfortable. Luxury
Well priced and easy location
Very comfortable and well located hotel for a weekend in Wellington. This was my second stay.
Was tidy and close to everything we needed. The rooms were not sound proof and could hear the neighbours throughout the stay, day or night. The aircon was noisy and was needed as there were no windows. Did not enjoy the glass bathroom as there was no privacy and you could hear a pin drop 😂
Great Stay!
Nice room, only complaint was there was no desk. There was a table but not the correct height to comfortably work from for long periods so would make sure the room I pick has one from now on. Would stay again. Very convenient. Carpark is tricky maneuvering but grateful my park was on the ground floor. Great friendly and helpful staff.
A few unsavory people around the entrance but that seems to be an unfortunate situation with inner city accomodation.
Great location, modern, good sized room. Friendly staff. Room service food was really good.
Would definitely stay here again highly recommended
Fraudsters??
The hotel has double charged us for breakfast and staff appear to be unable to resolve. This is tantamount to fraud if not resolved quickly.
Decent accommodations, hotel bar closes much to early (9:30pm), area around hotel needs cleaning up as everything looks run down. Also lots of homeless around the area. There were some nice bars and a couple restaurants. The chocolate factory was great!
The breakfast was great—very convenient location.
The hotel was a great location for Cuba Street activities. Our run was on the street side and the street activity was loud: music, cars, and people (5th floor). The room was not clean. Toenails on the floor by the bed, hair in the shower. Not a great option if you are sharing the room as the bathroom doors are frosted glass in the middle and see through on the top and bottom.
Nothing
5 Stars, excellent experience
No parking
A central place to stay if found at a good price.
Hotel is well positioned to walk to most areas of interest to tourists in 10 minutes. The cable car area is a little further away, but still walkable. The room was clean and spacious and had a small fridge and a kettle with various teas, coffee, and hot chocolate. The shower is purposely made without a door, so some water does fall outside, just put a towel at the shower exit to solve this problem. Parking in the hotel covered lot is interesting, to say the least, the spaces are super tight, as is the parking structure itself. Parking and driving in downtown Wellington is an adventure as the streets are very narrow and parking is difficult to find. Breakfast is very good, and was included for my stay.
Not too keen on the shower toilet glass walls but room was great apart from that
The toilet in our room smelt bad and because we were in a internal room there was no fresh air
Only issue was no room service after 930
Close to everything
The website didn't mention parking had to be paid for.
When staff were asked questions- they didn’t know. Eg is there laundry facility to use/ or what is on the menu for the WOW dinner - response was I’m not sure.
Good room Needs Mtce and Cleaning is not upto scratch.Issues advised reception twice. No service of room (for 3 nights) at over $nz350 a night is not what was expected at that price point
I liked how my room was comfy bed & quiet but was very disappointed with restaurant being closed, no room service on offer for the days I was there
Convenient location
Very good location close to restaurants. The room was bright and tidy with all the necessary amenities. Amazingly quiet.
Great and cost effective.
Liked the good sized room.. Only thing we didnt have was a coffee plunger, so went and bought one..
Property is a bit dated… overall not bad though,,, just needs a bit of love..
Friendly staff. Clean.
Great location. Always a comfortable stay.
.
A big thank you to the Duty Manager Chloe who allowed us to check in early and made us feel welcomed. We weren’t told about any room upgrade or late checkout but the room we booked was spacious with a comfy king size bed. The bathroom was very clean and we had everything we needed in a studio room. The buffet breakfast for Father’s Day was exceptional. Thanks Chloe and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
Very convenient
Great central location within walking distance of Wellington CBD. Quiet & clean room, perfect for a weekend getaway. The staff and their customer service was exceptional. We were very happy with everything. Would highly recommend and book in again.
Close to shopping centre
💫
Great central position.. perfect for attending a Show. Good dining on site.
Good location. Vkean. Quiet.
The only thing I didn’t particularly like but isn’t enough to rate any lower is the bathroom door is glass and half frosted, it would be nice to be completely frosted especially if you were two friends sharing a room. Other than that it was nice clean and spacious, I like the dinning room overlooking the street.
Close to bus , restaurants, and bars.Great rooms and clean.
Great hotel... just hope you don't have to park
The hotel itself was over a pleasant stay. The corridors looked a little worn but the room itself was very satisfactory. However, if you plan to drive in yourself be prepared for a nightmare. I had to use a garage across the street and the side street is under construction. So getting in and out will be a mess, especially on Friday and Saturday nights as the CBD will be packed. On the brighter side, there's plenty of food options to go around and you're not too far from the CBD itself.
We had a great stay, the hotel is central, clean and quiet. Check-in was really quick and easy.
Oaks is in such a great location in Te Aro! Most restaurants I wanted to dine at were 5-7min walk away and thrift shops I wanted to check out were just along Cuba St which is a 5 min walk too! Te Papa is also a 7 min walk. The Hotel was doing a breakfast buffet deal of $20 pp which was soo good and the food was very filling too! I will say that the standard suite room has no windows so when we woke up the next morning we didn’t realise it was already 8am!!
Waited several minutes to check in at counter
Loved our stay! The bed and linen were really comfortable and helped to get a good night sleep. The air conditioner meant the room was warm during winter. I hadn’t noticed the see through glass around the bottom of bathroom meant less privacy than I’d anticipated, so will keep that in mind if I’m sharing a room with someone. The windows didn’t open, but this might be common for city rooms compared to what I’m used to.
Close to town
Everything was great
.
Good stay. Very convient as everything is nearby. Carpark is very tight
Fantastic staff
The parking situation is not adequately described - the spaces are VERY small and we were told we couldn't park there due to the size of our rental car (a standard SUV, on the smaller side). This was not explained in the amenity description. Terrible instructions were provided by Arif at the front desk to find street parking, and it took nearly an hour to find a available paid parking nearby. It wasn't until after we finally parked that Arif through to provide a map with the parking location... We were told that our parking would be reimbursed but the next morning when we expressed our frustration, we were told that the information online said parking was "subject to availability" and we weren't going to be reimbursed. While there, another patron's car was damaged while attempting to park in the lot. We will never return to this hotel or suggest it to anyone else. The online information needs to be updated to show how limited the parking situation actually is.
Excellent location. Enjoyed our stay here, will stay again, highly recommend. Had breakfast at Oak and Vine, it was delicious.
Nice stay in the middle of the city close to everything would stay again.
There are a lot of homeless/street people around which impacts the overall experience of the hotel. In addition guests on the floor that I was on were very inconsiderate and loudly talking In the early hours.
It was amazing the staff are so friendly they service were perfect and I highly recommended for accomodation
Excellent location,friendly staff
It was convenient to everything we needed. The room was clean and comfortable. Will definitely stay again.
Fantastic staff always helpful. Going above the average service. I would recommend Oaks at Courtney to anyone.
Conveniently location. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Everything was great except the rooms were very poorly lit, only one light in the ceiling, half the room is dark and could see very well, same with the bathrooms, couldn't see my face while shaving etc.
The question regarding parking does not allow for all issues I have answered NONE as in the search when looking for accommodation it clearly stated that as a gold member I was to get free parking on arrival I was told that parking would be $25.00 per night . Then I was told that none was available and that I can park in the Public Carpark down the road I think Hotels need to make sure their information is correct
This is the second time I’ve stayed at this property and it’s super tidy and clean. The only awkward situation was the parking - we had someone take our park and because we were in a larger vehicle it made it a little difficult. We were just assigned another parking spot but it was harder to park there than our original assigned parking spot. The staff were super lovely though and our room was a good size.
Two night stay
Clean comfortable and well located hotel, front desk staff were welcoming

Amazing stay. Good value. Price mix up. Although was explained but as not our mistake it could have been waived.
