The location and property was good. The comfort score was low due to poor beds. Apartment 533 required single new mattresses in 2nd bedroom. Broken single mattress contributed poor sleep and back pain morning. The poor quality beds doesn't justify the price.
Front reception very good and considerate
Very comfortable unit, friendly staff, accessibility good, nice outlook (kangaroos a bonus)
What we expected
Close to everything.
The room type I booked meant I stayed at the Elysia Wellness retreat and both properties are in the same resort and just awesome. Had the best time and ended up booking another night. Rachel on reception was just amazing - so helpful and really friendly and relatable.
The stay was very safe and comfortable. You are surrounded by wildlife on the whole property and we even got to see a family of kangaroos! however, the breakfast was a bit disappointing.
Great place to stay
Great place to stay! Kid friendly pool was a bonus! Only downside was ants kept getting into the kitchen.
Our villa was very comfortable and well equipped. Unfortunately on our 2nd night the power in our villa went off and we had to transfer everything to another villa for the night. The amenities are very good but the pool behind the tennis court needs some attention. There is hardly anywhere to sit and some sort of shade structure is needed.
On arrival we were made to wait 1.5 hours before we could enter our room. Reception had limited staff and struggled with a long queue of grumpy clients. The room here was very nice, though the service was deplorable. 40 min for a cocktail made by bar staff who were young and inexperienced It was on more than one occasion this occurred. And you could hear the people waiting were grumbling amongst themselves about the delays everyday. Food in restaurant is poor with little choice. Breakfast however was excellent with a nice variety each day and a lovely chef who was accomodating with a smile and beautifully mannered towards all asking for her to do something extra. Big tick for her !! ( 17/2/25) Golf course is really good though the paths for golf buggies need desperate repair in a lot of areas Quite scary the size of holes you must navigate tbh But course itself was well maintained and we enjoyed our day on it. Rooms are nice and well equipped. Overall the hospitality side of this resort lets it down terribly. A shame when it has so much to offer if run with more skilled and managed staff who can communicate with enthusiasm not an attitude of how fast can I go home ( with rolling eyes) Overall 2.5 stars out of 5
The villa we stayed in 2 bedroom 2 bathroom was fabulous. Fully equipped if you just wanted to have a peaceful stay home time in serene surroundings….. but walkable to an amazing restaurant if you wanted the perfect no cook holiday! The villa/apartment was 2 storey and had fabulous views across the valley…. It was spacious, light and airy with kangaroos coming in close view in the morning on the golf course. If you had to list any fault it would only be the lack of any flat access…… wherever you went it was stairs. A small challenge for oldies, but we managed fine. A great time was had by all…… would highly recommend this property and its generous friendly staff in all areas of the resort. We will be back!
Great place. Can’t wait to return.
Pretty old and worn out for the price. Aircon was poor, no wifi til I got them to bring me a portable one. There was a dryer but no washing machine. SriLankan restaurant was very nice.
This property was modern and beautifully decorated. The views were beautiful. The walk around the property was very enjoyable with all the nature and animals. It is located in the heart of the Hunter, making it an easy drive to the wineries. Definitely will come again. Thank you
Outdated property in need of some TLC
Rooms starting to look a little dated. Pool was dirty, one tennis court unusable due to the surface being all ripped. Looking a bit tired and dated but still charging 5 star rates. Lunch menu of pizzas were of a very poor standard, I’ve eaten frozen pizzas better than the ones that were on offer. On the plus side there was EV charging and check in/check out was a breeze
Beautiful friendly happy staff very helpful. All staff had smiles on there face. Loved my stay
The resort was peaceful and quiet, plenty to do, the restaurant is amazing, staff are all extremely friendly and helpful. Room was clean and homely.
Quite Resort good for relaxing and a perfect wellness retreat
Rooms are nice enough, and reception staff were friendly and helpful. The biggest letdown was food and beverage. Most of the waitstaff are 18-20 year old males with no people skills or knowledge of anything to do with thier job, all working hard to do as little as possible. On first night there I just wanted a simple bistro meal so I ordered a fish and chips and recieved a salad that had been cut two days earlier with prebattered frozen fish sticks. We had breakfast included, was also a huge disappointment, was a stock standard Bidfood breakfast - precooked sauages, little muffins from the freezer, frozen bladder eggs with the terrible taste. The middle aged lady cooking was very rude when several people around me dared to ask for a poached or fried egg. The only redemption for food and beverage was on our second morning breakfast, 7th January. While the food was the same options, the young chef with the bandana in the kitchen had done a wonderful job of presentation and keeping the food fresh. Was very friendly and had put poached and fried eggs on the buffet. They had done the absolute best with the food they had to work with. If this young chef would ever like a job at a resort to be proud of they can reach out to me. Also at this breakfast was a middle aged waiter, I think his name was Murray, - very friendly and helpful.
Very nice
We had a two bedroom villa which was very spacious and tidy, plenty of room for a group or family. The pool area is very dated and bar near pool was closed during the busy Christmas/ NY period which was disappointing. There is not enough staff which impacted service and don't bother calling reception from your room as it just rings out. We were in a villa close to the main area but if you happen to get a further one expect to be walking up and down hills. We had thought there was an adult only pool but we must have misread. Lots of kids in the pools so if your looking for having quite cocktail by the pool this is not the place. Dinner at Oaks & vine was surprisingly good and we really enjoyed the 3 course meal. Golf course outlook from bar area was nice.
On paper the facilities of the resort were great, room layout was perfect for a family of 4 and the food was also good. Unfortunately the resort itself is just quite run down - lots of broken or loose tiles around the pool, peeling paint, and broken equipment. The villa was not kitted out very well, we didnt have enough cutlery for 4 people, or any knife capable of slicing an apple. It seems the kitchen just had a mish-mash of supplies left behind from previous guests. Housekeeping was also not amazing, we found a lot of hair on the walls in the shower and spattered make-up all over the walls and counter top in the bathroom. The property has great potential but has perhaps seen better days.
The team that work at the Oaks Cypress are lovely
The adults only wing of the oaks was great as a quick getaway. Quiet and calming.
We stayed in a two bedroom unit which was in the 700s. The resort is built on Hillside so if you don’t like steps do not stay here! Some of the units have 30 and 40 stairs down to the units from where you park your car, other units have 10 steps down. Units are two story bedrooms are upstairs so again you’re using stairs. Anyone with the mobility issues will not be able to stay in this resort. The units vary in degree of renovation. We were staying with a large party in multiple units and everybody’s units were at a different standard. Some of the units are a little tired this includes the furniture. Also if you go for the breakfast option it is either a steep walk down or and a very steep walk back up or drive down and drive back up. There is a free shuttle option but that’s to your car park which you’re in one of those units with 40 stairs. You need to walk up those stairs just to get to the bus.
Nice view. Very clean room. Spa and swimming pool onsite look nice but didn’t get to use it, perhaps next time. Getting in and out in cars is not the most straightforward thing. Lots of Roos around the property.
Stunning accommodation & facilities. Attentive & very helpful stuff. Clean, quiet, relaxing. Highly recommend.
Had to get a booster for the internet. TV in the bedroom didn’t work at all - or it’s remote. Black mould in shower and very bad under the sink. Had to ask for a soap. For our entire stay there were two bags of laundry outside our door that never moved. Went to have dinner in your Sri Lankan restaurant - booked and went down to find out it wasn’t open that night- but their booking app accepted my booking. I asked a single friend to book there with us and we found it funny that she got a 2 bedroom unit but there was 2 people on my booking and we a one room setup - seemed weird as we’d paid the same amount. There was loud gardening machinery going all day just outside our window which made it impossible to have a sleep in - which we’d been looking forward to . When I was leaving they attempted to charge me for breakfasts I’d never had and were not including in the booking I’d selected . Nice bed and polite staff. But my stay was just a bit awkward - it didn’t make me want to come back.
I have stayed many times at Cypress Lakes and will keep coming back. The staff are friendly and the rooms are spacious and clean.
Situated in the middle of a golf course. Villas are spread out. Friendly staff. Main building with reception and restaurant/ bar and pool are all very nice. Good breakfast
The property was beautiful
Perfect in everyway. Location, surrounds & rooms!
WOW! What a beautiful relaxing well appointed room. Set in bushland overlooking the golf course & water features. You get the benefit of being secluded and quiet, yet have all the facilities you could possibly desire just a walk down a path. The rooms were so luxurious & comfortable. Your own kitchen, lounge & dining as well as the verandah that takes in the view. You could not ask for me. Wonderful!
Nice room clean and spacious, reception staff very helpful.
Cypress Lakes is a reliable option though the rooms are a little tired and could do with a more thorough inspection between visitors. Parking was a nightmare this time around, whether multiple rooms had multiple cars I am not sure, but we could never park near our room. The other cars didn’t appears to move much if at all.
Best of both worlds staying in the Elysia accommodation while also being a guest at Cypress Lakes.
Very old fashioned hotel, needs so much work doing to it. The rooms are dirty and not looked after. The pools are dirty and need some looking after. The phone lines don't work and the wifi is very limited. Would not recommend this hotel.
all round great place to unwind for the weekend
Lovely place to stay and staff were more than accommodating
Property is very dated and needs maintenance to be completed. Not the luxury resort it once was.
Property was nice but a little dated. The wifi didn’t work at all in our property. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast.
Really wonderful spot and lovely staff
Great relaxing weekend
Another wonderful stay at Cypress, Villa was clean, comfortable and walking distance to reception. Breakfast was great and we enjoyed our 2 night getaway.
The property has a beautiful view & the wellness facilities were amazing!!
Had a great stay , lovely staff and service
Back to the 70s
Breakfast felt like a 2 star hotel from 70s coffee from an urn? No espresso self coffee machines at all but happy to charge you for a very poor quality coffee from adjoining coffee shop. Can’t understand how, what could have been a good experience turn into a really bad and poor standard experience. It would embarrassing to take friends there, major turn off
Beautiful relaxed stay. Very comfortable accommodation, views were amazing.
Property was not value for money. 3 star at best!
SSliding Door between the bedroom and toilets were heavy and didn’t work properly. Other than that everything was great!
It was very quiet and the space was very comfortable
Quiet and Comfortable
It was very quiet and comfortable and staff were very good and friendly.
Quiet and Comfortable
It was very quiet and comfortable and staff were very good and friendly.
5 night stayed with 5 people but no service for changing towels, replacing any items included washing powder, toilet paper etc… they expected us to wash towels however they only gave us 1 pack of washing powder. We had to go to supermarket to purchase some washing powder, toilet papers, coffee, tea, shampoo, conditioner and soap and spent over $2000 for the accoodations.
We loved our overnight stay at Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort! The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was amazing (both dinner and breakfast) and the room was quiet. We will definitely be back to stay again.
Kitchen tap leaked all over the counter. Coffee machine leaked too. and 4 coffee pods may be ok for 2 people for one, maybe 2 days, but not for 3 nights and 4 days. And we got the “valley view” room without the valley view. While nice, it didn’t live up to expectation.
The food was great both at breakfast and dinner, but the property is in urgent need of some TLC. There was water leaking from the ceiling from the above property which we were staying in. It was dangerous because the water was coming from the downlight. There was a previous water mark on the ceiling. We were relocated to another unit, but it was the inconvenience we endured because of the maintenance not being kept up to date. We have stayed here many times, but it was obvious the building looks tired and old as well as the golf course especially the driving range.
Awesome
Great spacious two bedroom apartment and fantastic value for money for a girls weekend away. Ok breakfast included.
Family holiday fun
Clean, comfortable and very easy stay. Great resort to stay wirh kids. The ahuttle bus was a great service. Breakfast was great and the grounds are lovely. Friendly, helpful staff.
Wonderful accomodation .. beautiful area and great meals
Beautiful bushland surroundings with amazing views from the Elisia Wellness Centre and our villas. Lots of kangaroos about. Private luxury rooms.
It as described and advertised online. Clean and tidy. Complementary buffet breakfast is amazing
Staff were unbelievably friendly and went out of their way to please. Food for a family was amazing. Room was slightly dirty. Overall it was great.
Was awesome thank you :)
Central location, good size private villas.
Very spacious 2 bedroom apartment with 2 1/2 bathrooms. Each bedroom has a king bed and TV.
Comfortable unit with nice outlook. Good resort facilities
Beautiful, spacious, quiet property. Lots of room and amenities. Room service was efficient. Great views of golf course and surrounds. Close to wineries, Cheese factory, chocolate shop and Hunter valley gardens.
Beautiful accommodation and surroundings
Great location
Average
Stayed in the adults only Elysia area. No Internet, coffee pods but no milk, no room service, reception closed at 8pm, average shower, lights not working in bathroom, car parked away from room, no tv in lounge room, mouse traps in the room at front door and kitchenette, no block out blinds. Breakfast included is a 5 min drive away and noisy with floors being sanded, cold and dry, had to pay for a coffee $6 each which was terrible. Definitely not a luxury stay and would not book again. Any interaction with staff was not impressive, not welcoming, not interested and not hospitable. Sorry we were a hindrance by being a guest. View was lovely from the room.
It was just really relaxing place, my wife loved that it was quiet no traffic about and the staff have been amazing!! Very friendly!
Beautiful and quite place with all the amenities
Mixed experience
Incredible SriLankan restaurant. Was not expecting such an astounding culinary experience. Chef even came out to talk to anyone who had children. Villa condition was outrageous. Coffee machine not cleanrd from previous guest, glasses, crockery and flatware unclean. Not "waterstains out of the dishwasher" but uncleaned from previous use. Thick layer of dust on various surfaces. Room simply not serviced on day 2. Housekeeping abysmally executed. All front of house staff were incredibly kind, gracious and efficiently executed their duties.
No wifi. Not clean at all
the hotel is not clean, we found cockroach in the room. the wifi is terrible in the room. the price does not match with the value you get.
Great Staff
Nice
We will recommend
The resort was outdated, phone is not working and restaurant food quality can be much better.
Beautiful outlook over pool and lake. Amazing breakfast and generous staff.
Well located to visit wineries and comfortable accommodation. We stayed in a premium 2 bedroom villa and air conditioned and comfy beds. On arrival, there was a crisp under the sofa with some bugs and no WiFi connection / Netflix connection (my family had stayed a couple of weeks prior in a 3 bedroom villa and had also had the WiFi issue). Rung reception who brought a wifi booster up but were unable to sort the tv and advised option of connecting our own hdmi cable (we not brought one as did not know). They also said we had to return the booster or be subject to a $300 penalty. Weather wasn’t great and we were travelling with a baby so it would’ve been useful to know WiFi / tv limitations beforehand. Pool area had nice views but music blaring out which didn’t make it too relaxing. Well situated for golf but not as good as pictures and not all services as advertised.
Great facilities staff were very friendly Bistro floor area was very dirty Glass door in our room made it not very private but overall had a great stay and will be back
The room was clean and spacious, and the property and facilities were gorgeous. Great value. The different pools, sauna, steam room, were wonderful. We had a lovely peaceful getaway. Would definitely stay again.
Excellent service and facilities available. Highly recommend
Staff were great. Facilities dated
Staff fantastic. Facilities were very dated and not the cleanest
Nice location however rooms are quite dated
Relaxed stay nearby wineries.
Relaxed hotel great central location to visit many nearby wineries. Tempus Two and McGuiggins to name two. Had a comfortable two bedroom, two bathroom two story unit with good ammenities but poor wifi so ask for the dongle.
First was good experience
Beautiful property… and surrounded by nature .. staff were excellent and the meals were very lovely.. very close to shops and beautiful wineries
When I went to check in I was told by the manager there that I could not because of a power outage that would only be resolved at 2am. He said it would be dangerous for us to check in as there would be safety concerns. We were told multiple times that we would get a refund after booking through Expedia by the front desk manager. We did not get a refund in the end. This is basically theft.
Fantastic experience
Amazing stay - fantastic location friendly staff… overall a fantastic experience.
AMAZING. Staff where wonderful, caring and prompt. No option for tranport/shuttle outside the resort only within however goven the month of year they where very busy and the phone rang out. Awesome golf course and caddys amd very close to the vineyard, cheese akd chocolate factories. The 18 only resort was excellent, staff where amazing, quiet and a great place to restore the mind and soul.
The resort itself is lovely, the location is good. There are lots of facilities at the resort. The let down was the bed/mattress. We stayed in room 644. It was the hardest bed I have ever slept in. My husband loves a firm mattress, but even he woke up cursing this bed. This ruined the trip as we were unable to sleep making us tired and sore for the entire stay. I would not recommend staying in this room and would check if all the beds are standard across the resort or if this is just the owner of this unit that does not care about the comfort of their guests. The housekeeping also left a lot to be desired. Rubbish from the previous stay was left on the balcony. No toilet paper. The spare blanket had been used and shoved in a draw. Housekeeping should be checking these sorts of things. The body wash, shampoo etc seems to be refilled little bottles which makes me question how hygienic this is. Unfortunately I would not recommend a stay at this resort and we will not return.
Awesome getaway, will always look into Cyprus lakes first in future. Very happy
Very comfortable villa. Ideal for 2 couples as 2 x ensuite bathrooms. We had a group of 5 and the sofa bed mattress needed replacing.
The hotel needs urgent renovation to justify the price.
Beautiful location, friendly helpful team. Perfect relaxing weekend away.
Amazing place. Beautiful views and great food
