Excellent service, very friendly. Excellent breakfast. Excellent views. Very good cleaning service daily. Very Close to transports, metro, buses, tram.
The status of the wooden floor was a disaster with splintered boards lifted and ready to cause serious wounds to your feet. The cleanliness was good and the personnel very friendly.
Excellent location
Great location
Well located and rooms are comfortable and clean
Many thanks for help
The service is seriously next level. I was in another hotel and something wasn't right there. And that other hotel did not help me with it. And they jumped in to help, which is absolutely amazing. They could have easily said, that is my problem and not theirs. So many thanks!!!
The property is so well located that you will not be lost. Its so accessible to the most important areas of Istanbul Center. Also, the staff is INCREDIBLE! they are attentive, and have great memory to remmber their guest.
Overnight stay
The location and the staff were excellent. However, my upgraded room was on the 4th floor, where they were making major repairs to the flooring making very loud noise all afternoon. Most of the view from my room was blocked by a ghosted skeleton building, which was too ugly to ignore. Hopefully, both of these conditions are temporary and will not affect others.
Highly recommend!
We had a wonderful stay at Nordstern Hotel Galata. The location and views are perfect! Walking distance to all of the main attractions. The rooms were spacious and clean. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We will gladly return to this hotel!
Great location, friendly staff
We enjoyed our stay so much , excellent location , nice breakfast , very cooperative staff especially Mr. Hayereddin the receptionist who helped us a lot , I will definitely come back If I visit Istanbul again
Amazing location, great room, the service from the staff was excellent. My only complaint is that the room was a bit noisy from the street sounds.
Old dated facility. AC & wine cooler worked not well. Room interior was down & old.
We will stay here again!
This was a great spot to stay. Easy to navigate the city with the tram so easily accessible. Front desk staff was helpful and accommodating. The street was loud but the windows close and the view was breathtaking. Rooftop access was great for evening photo shoots.
Disappointing experience avoid like plague
This room should not be a room. It is a converted shop (ex-spa commercial property) that has a bed added and made into an extra room within the hotel. The hamam was not turned on, reception cannot speak English, there is a stock room in one of then rooms with open wiring, water from taps came out brown, overall uncleaned, unkempt, the shower did not have running hot water (only hot water available from taps). This is not a suite, this is a shop sleeping experience. I felt unsafe - locks were flimsy, and so close to the main street that I thought anyone could come in. This is my second bad experience on this site. Makes me wonder whether QC is properly conducted - utterly disappointed and shambolic experience, would expect better rooms in a village. I have videos of my room if you want to check or contest.
Nice hotel with very nice staff ready to help and answer any questions. Ahmet and Ramzan are 2 gentlemen who were very supportive, as they other ones.
The best hotel, ever, I was, the staff was very friendly They had amazing, big bed and breakfast was so delicious
we really enjoyed our stay at this hotel . The location is perfect and the view is amazing .The staff are lovely and very caring. It has a relaxed atmosphere and we would definitely stay there again.
Booked this for a long layover and it was a perfect location. Very central and easy to walk to many areas. The shower drained slowly like a previous review said, and the rooms did have some wear, but we loved the traditional look of the rooms and hotel. Would love to stay here again!
Staff was helpful in every aspect: check-in, tourist information, friendliness, assistance with helpful details, personal attention.
Great location and views
This is a basic four star hotel with several outstanding features. It used to be a German bank before it was converted to a hotel, and has high ceilings, with chandeliers in certain rooms. The rooms themselves are in need of refurbishment, but are otherwise comfortable. The bed is great! The breakfast in their terrace restaurant is merely adequate, but the place itself is open 24hrs for coffee or just hanging out (byob!). Their piece de resistance, however, is their location, and the view from the terrace and from some rooms! It's truly amazing in all directions. The hotel is literally steps away from the Galata bridge (for walking across to the Sultanahmet area), the ferry terminal to Kadikoy and other places, the Tunel (funicular) to Istiklal street, and the T1 tram to Kabatas (Dolmabahce Palace) and Sultanahmet. This area, Karakoy, is a great nightlife area with cool restaurants and bars. The beautiful Galataport area is a very short walk away. Last but not least, it's the exemplary level of service from all the staff! They are all wonderfully polite and helpful. They can arrange airport transportation and tours, and are very responsive to pre-visit email and WhatsApp queries. If you're looking for a modern hotel and great Turkish breakfast, this is not it. But aside from that, it's fantastic.
Apart from needing minor renovations, this hotel is a gem . Location couldn’t be better and the staff was phenomenal. I would certainly return to this hotel !
Excellent location
Hotel is in a very nice area and the hotel staff is welcoming. The terrace on the top floor is a great addition and is especially nice in the morning at breakfast time.
I will be back
location
The staff were so kind. A great location to all bars and restaurants.
The location is convenient but the surrounding area is noisy and a little dirty.
Incredible staff, unbelievable location, amazing rooftop and breakfast!
Very noisy
I liked the location of this property. It's right next to the Galata Bridge and the water. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and the tram stops right across the street.
Old room, Very Noisy and bathtub is flooding
Rooms are very noisy and we couldn't sleep due to that and we had to change the hotel afterword's. The room is very old and furniture needs to be renovated. The shock was when the bathtub kept on flooding and the hotel couldn't offer anything however the location is good
Wonderful location and extremely clean hotel. I will definitely stay there again. Thank you
I only spent one night here
The room I had was lovely and the staff were amazing
The location of hotel is great and convenience, the staff are excellent 👌
Highly recommend this classic and unique hotel.
welcoming and helpful staff. We had a pleasant stay. Many thanks to all the hotel staff
Very old and small room
Excellent Stay in Nordstern Hotel
We truly enjoyed our stay at Nordstern Hotel. Three things for that stay stood out. First was that hotel location is right next to picturesque Galata Bridge that connects city’ historic part with more modern Karakoy district. While hotel location could be a bit on a noisier side, if widows of one’ room face the bridge, it is really fun to watch bustling life going by around the bridge. Right in front of hotel there is a tram stop that makes it easy to reach major historic attractions, including Topkapi palace, Hagia Sophia, others. Second appealing attribute was that hotel is located in historic, yet very well maintained building. When asked, receptionist proudly explained that building is about 200 years old, was originally built for a German insurance company and 100 years later converted to hotel. The very fact that ceiling height in our room was 4.5m, room had old world intricate finish carpentry brought a special charm. Finally, about a breakfast room. It is located at hotel highest floor and has an outdoor rooftop area. Selection of food during breakfast was great. It included typical Western food staples and selection of Turkish dishes. My favorite pass by time was after main breakfast move to an open terrace, sip Turkish tea, watch life going by around the bridge. Breakfast room attendants, Ms. Gül and Mr. Metin worked hard in keeping buffet well stocked and area neat and tidy and are truly warm people. Ms. Sevda, our room attendant was meticulous in her duties.
Very nice staff!
Douch cabine was not good and we did not have a warm water for a day.
Nordstern Hotel Galata is the perfect place to start an exploration of Istanbul. The hotel is a block or two away from trams ferries, and the main bridge across the Golden Horn. Further, it is a 10-15 minute walk to major attractions like the Galata Tower or the Hagia Sophia. Breakfast every morning was excellent--and the view from the rooftop terrace cafe was incredible. The staff were very friendly and especially helpful (especially for me, without any knowledge of Turkish). I had baggage problems with the airport and they went out of their way to help me resolve them. I note that the property is located at the intersection of several major streets and so traffic noises can be loud at times--but I suspect that is true throughout much of Istanbul (esp. those on the tram lines). I highly recommend this property.
Convenient location to go everywhere. Our room has the bridge and sea view and love it. The staff was amazing with great hospitality. Would come back again.
All was great, the only down side was the shower u can’t control the temperature
Lovely Hotel, Brilliant Staff!
The huge win about this hotel is the team working there, from reception, to concierge, to the dining team, they are all brilliant. Extremely friendly, very helpful go out of their way to make your stay a pleasant one. The sea-view room was beautiful, lovely features and very spacious. The breakfast offering is in line with other hotels in Istanbul, not a huge spread but still a number of options. Only word of warning is that it is in a busy location with lots of night time activity, so it can get noisy. That being said, it also offers great views from the terrace which is also due to its location.
Location is great for getting around and the staff were extremely helpful with booking taxis and telling us where to shop after our luggage was lost. The room itself was a bit dated but we expected this based on pictures and price. We would stay again.
They were absolutely perfect. We had forgotten our converter and the gentleman gave us his phone charger for the entire trip. The service was icredible. Everybody was so helpful. Would 10/10 recommend staying here.
From being picked up from the airport to checking out was absolutely perfect. We requested early check in and they did everything possible to make that happen. Then our converter wouldn't work and hayreddin at the front desk literally gave us his charger so we can change our phones for the time we were in istanbul. They even set up the shuttle service back to the airport at 4 in the morning. Every single individual here is so nice. The rooms were great. We stayed in both the hamam suite and regular room and they both were great. They are extremely accomodating and i would 10/10 stay here again.
Property and service is bad
Amazing terrace with a view
amazing terrace with great view. Nice friendly staff, Had the terrace room which was great. Showers could do with more power. but overall was a great stay.
The staff in general and the front office staff was great and very friendly and helpful. Hotel is beautiful and the hotel's location is walking distance from everything
I recommend this hotel for who looking for all goodies in one. I mean the room, views, food (24/7 free cafe) location walk distance to everywhere the train right in front of the hotel of course the staff are AMAZING very nice and friendly. This is my new favorite hotel. Love this hotel. 💯
Center of Istanbul, best veiw
Amazing views of the Bosphorus Strait, good breakfast at the rooftop. Close to the pier and walking distance to attractions
Service, location and accommodation, I loved the room but the only thing I didn't like is the bed leg design, it's out of the bed border, for two or three times I nearly hurt my fingers by accident Tribbled with it both sides
Great location. Only 10 minute walk from the Spice Bazaar and many restuarants. Great water views.
Very good location, excellent staff I will definitely recommend to everyone who will visit İstanbul
Wonderfull
Amazing location, historical building, excellent personnel.
The value for the price was excellent. The hotel has a prime location in the European side of Istanbul. The room was very convenient and the staff friendly and helpful. The view of the city from the hotel terrace (breakfast spot) is amazing. The light was low in the bathroom, so maybe this is something the hotel may consider improving. The room service team was changing all the towels daily, so maybe a more eco-friendly options should be considered? Overall, my experience was positive and I highly recommend the hotel.
The location is very good. The building is falling apart. The audio unit was broken and they didn't do anything about it, neither have they any information when I follow up with them on its status. The bathroom door got locked for some reason and it took them more than 24 hours to fix it. So we ended up w/o our stuff and had to use the restrooms upstairs over the night, couldn't shower in the morning and had to remind the receptionist twice the day after until they finally had someone fix it. The worst part was that they did not acknowledge the problem and did nothing to expedite the repair process or to make it up to us.
We liked this hotel and would recommend to everyone!
We were unfortunately on the lowest floor. I am also. The room was nice, but not sure what made it qualify as a suite. Appreciated the fresh juice at breakfast. Breakfast room is a bit crowded.
N+N = Nice and noisy!!!
If you like to be around of activities, now this is the place. Located just a few meters if the Galata Bridge surrounding for restaurantes, cafés, bares and histories Places! The hotel is a traditional Turkish type and was renovated. If you are looking for a quiet place, change your mind, this is not. Breakfast good on a nice terrace.
Nice clean hotel
Over all nice clean hotel close to public transportation large rooms, large clean bathroom and shower, comfortable beds, helpful and friendly staff, very good breakfast, (hot and cold) in rooftop with nice view I'll stay there any day .
Unhappy stay
There was a problem with the A/C unit every time I entered the room I had to contact the front desk to connect the A/C which the room tephone was not working so I had walk down stairs. Shower head was broken. Do not get the TAXI true the hotel staff. They will charge you extra. With $109 per night I could do lot better than this.
Fantastic location with great views and access to public transport. Staff were excellent. However if you are a light sleeper this hotel is not for you as the traffic and pedestrian noise is very loud all through the night.
Very central and close to many attractions Very close to Ferry, Tram and bus stations Taxi available out side hotel Staff was very nice and helpful
The property’s standards aren’t what they used to be we’ve stayed there many times but this is the last time I’ll stay there. The air conditioner was constantly turned off we had to ask reception to turn it back on it was about 35-36 degrees in Istanbul why would a hotel to the AC off? The shower head was tiny and the water was not draining so basically you had to take shower in dirty water! Toilet wasn’t flushing properly and to top it off they left dirty dishes in our for two days even after I called and ask reception to remove them. I repeatedly asked them not to turn AC off but clearly it didn’t work so to make it short stay elsewhere if you want service and some luxury.
Good location near river. Good sized rooms. Buffet breakfast was good
The location is excellent - walking distance to all main attractions. Breakfast each day was superb & the view from the rooftop balcony is unbeatable. On the down side, there’s no on-site bar or restaurant, although there are restaurants nearby & the air conditioning left a lot to be desired.
Very clean rooms. the hotel has a very helpful staff especially the receptionists umut and ahmet. The view of the terrace is amazing and the breakfast is delicious.
Right next to the tram, tunel and Galata Bridge. Comfortable beds and bedding. Helpful, friendly staff.
Great hotel
Great old world charm and fantastic location, right on the Bosphorus, looking at the Golden Horn. The staff were very courteous, polite, and helpful. The location was super convenient for walking to everything, from Galata Tower, or across the bridge to Hagia Sophia, the Grand Bazaar, and Topkapi Palace. The only downside to the hotel was that it had no bar and only offered breakfast. But, that wasn't an issue for us, as we went out each night to explore local restaurants.
Good location. Very noisey
Great location but comes at a price. We were in the corner Golden Horn room 102 on the first floor which does give you a view of the horn and Galata bridge however it is extremely noisy all night long. Asked for a room change to a higher floor but it was full. We ended up checking out a day early and going somewhere else just so we could get some sleep. The room itself was nice but the cleaners missed a few things. Didnt replace used coffee cups and glasses etc.
decent hotel but..
decent hotel let down by small details - card slot for lights off wall, bathroom handle off door
Location location
Amazing stay in this little friendly hotel The staff were super helpful, the room was beautiful and the beds were super super comfortable. Room service was perfect Would definitely stay here again. Do not miss the restaurants around :Namli in Karaköy has the best Turkish breakfast, lunch and dinner and kosgeroglu has the best baklava and a restaurant with the same name. Galatali tower is a short walk
Terrific location and view Staff are so helpful Thanks for everything will recommend this beautiful hotel to all my family and friends The only thing negative is there’s no cold air conditioning but that didn’t affect me because the weather was pretty good
OVER RATED (by themseves of course)
The pace needs a restaurant, either that or at least someone at the front desk that knows something about the facilities and restaurants nearby … Disappointingly, the staff had NO IDEA … And that felt like a let down !
It's good but this time is bad service
Staff were excellent and the location is fantastic
Great location, staff and bteakfast view. Very nicely decorated as well
Awesome
Its was very nice and good location
The staff at the hotel was excellent tending to all oyr needs ,polite ,friendly made us feel at home . Really makes a huge difference.
- Great location - Friendly staff - Aged decoration & amenities - Street noise
Highly recommended
This is an excellent option. Perfect location at the foot of the Galata area. Nice and friendly staff who are attentive and helpful. Room is comfortable and quite large. New bathroom. Upstairs terrace has beautiful views. With coffee available all day which is a nice touch. Very good value.
Such a wonderful experience overall
We stayed here for the first 5 nights of our Istanbul trip , we booked the sea view suite , the room was gorgeous ( if you love old buildings like I do ) could use some paint job but it’s ok , the service was great !!! Everyone there was very nice and helpful and so polite especially the older gentleman, he was so sweet even thou I can not speak Turkish he makes me feel very welcome . The roof top view was fabulous , I loved hanging out up there at night. The breakfast selection was good as well , I love that we can squeeze our own fresh orange juice , that was really neat . The location is perfect, so overall I will definitely stay here again and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.
Best location in Istanbul, two thumbs up!
Best location ever if you want to stay in Istanbul with the metro literally steps away.
good location, clean rooms
located in karakoy, across from galata bridge.easy to go everywhere, tram station very close by. comfortable rooms, a bit pricey for what u get.
Hotel rank was average
Great location, staff was very friendly updated bathrooms. Room thermostat had issues and room was warm. Our room was next to a very busy street. Traffic noise was a huge problem all day and most of night.
Nice hotel in an excellent location close to money exchange , local groceries , transportation and historical sites
The location was excellent, right by the metro, and not too far from attractions. The breakfast was amazing, with a view!
best location close to Galata bridge
Excellent front desk employees specially Anil he help us with a transportation to airport and gave us tips for visiting Istambul . small hotel but is clean and location is a plus metro station is cross the street breakfast is good for the money
Great location
Great location, and good property for Istanbul. Lacks lobby but the Terrance makes up for it. I would stay there again
Strategic location
Almost close to everywhere. Tram station just across the road. Walking distance to Galata bridge restaurant. Nice view from terrace for breakfast. Free flow of coffee and tea during night. The only thing that annoying is the noise that come from the busy street. And the breakfast should be improved too. The price of the room is quite pricey too Yes.. I will recommend this hotel.
Nice hotel and staff are very friendly.
Clean hotel and very friendly staff.Very close to the train station.
A hotel past its prime in a great location
Stayed at the Nordstern for a night only as we had an early morning flight the next morning. The hotel is an older small hotel that seems to be past its prime. We had an issue where the light in the bathroom was out and it could not be fixed till after we had left. Being a small black colored bathroom without light, we had issues using the bathroom. The staff was very courteous and tried their best to solve our problems, even if it was beyond their ability. The location is great. We didnt get to try their breakfast as we left before it opened. Overall, I dont feel this hotel is in the right star category on hotels.com. Our expectations were higher and hence so was our disappointment. You could get much better hotels within a similar price range.
Wonderful large high-ceilinged room with classic decor, modern amenities (amazing shower), view of the Hagia Sofia, and great central location to both the old city and Galata. Will definitely stay here again.
Excelent Hotel
The Hotel staff was very friendly. Breakfast was delicious The room was very well decorated and spacious with very high ceilings. Location is excellent, very close to public transportation (across the street).
Fancy
Very classic and the location is clase to the station.
nice hotel close to the beach
Every thing is great every nice pillows best bed ever food good with respect to the price but not that waw
Great stay lovely staff!
We stayed here for 6 nights and had a very comfortable stay. The staff are all super helpful and attentive. We were upgraded to a better room free of charge due to the length of our stay. Gül was lovely and friendly every morning when we went to have breakfast. Thank you to the entire team ! Highly recommend the hotel
